Idia Info Compilation Part 7: Idia and Cats
Idia likes cats extremely, up to and including Lucius. This may even include cat beast-people, as he says “Lions are supposedly part of the Felidae family, but Leona’s about as docile as an angry lawnmower."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He also says "Oooh, I wanna widdle kitty cat to hug and kiss…”
He tries to pet Grim, mistaking him for a cat. Grim, having been watching a horror movie with the player and Ace, subsequently tells everyone that there is an evil spirit on campus, leading Ortho to confiscate Idia’s lab wear.
Idia’s love of furry creatures does not end with cats. In the Harveston event he is thrilled to find a raccoon, rabbit, squirrels and a deer in what he describes as a “paradise”, until they discover a packet of dried fruit in his pocket and proceed to chase him down the mountain.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He also says that while "dogs themselves are okay", he "can't deal with dog people.” Despite his impatience with video game interruptions, Idia says that tests and games are alike: "You get that same dopamine rush when you score high," implying he may perform well in classes.
Tumblr media
When asked if he had a favorite stuffed animal as a child Idia responds that, no—he has always preferred his own handmade robots since he was young. He enjoys cup ramen, gifting a box of special, limited-time cup ramen to Deuce for his birthday.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Idia’s favorite food sometimes gets translated as “junk food”, but he specifies that he prefers a sub-genre of snacks that doesn’t seem to exist in English: “chi-iku-type dagashi”, which this YouTuber has translated as “educational confectionary”.
It is where you take different gelatins and things and mix them to create candy versions of things like sushi, hamburgers, etc., in miniature form. I am sure they exist in other places, too! NA translates them as "DIY candy kits", which is also accurate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Idia is also invested in movies, designing his dorm’s section of the Halloween Event at Night Raven College to be an homage to a B movie called “Creepy Hollow”, that no one knows but he defends passionately to anyone who will listen.
Tumblr media
Concerning his online games, we learn in the Phantom Bride event that Idia uses the handle “Gloomurai” online. His closest online friend is a person who uses the handle “Muscle Red”.
Idia turns down an opportunity to spend time with Ortho in favor of Muscle Red. While hinted at elsewhere in the game, it is also in the Phantom Bride event that we learn that Muscle Red is Lilia, but neither student is aware of the other’s true identity.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Idia seems to keep private rankings of different students, which include but are not limited to his “Night Raven College’s most cheerful character” tier list (Kalim ranks first) and the “Turbo Sus Vice Housewardens to Be Avoided at All Costs Rankings” (topped by Rook and Trey).
Idia describes Cater as having a sunny disposition that “is relentlessly smothering”, while Cater advises Malleus against going to Idia for technological help as “he’d probably run if you tried to talk to him”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Silver says Idia always gets “so flustered” around him (he wakes up to Idia watching him as he slept). Idia describes Silver as “seriously handsome” and “like a prince”. During Phantom Bride Idia describes Vil as “a legit pro”, saying “Leona and Malleus’ faces are mega-striking”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He describes Riddle as “the traditional prince who’s straight-laced due to his royal upbringing, but who occasionally shows some awkward tenderness”, Epel as “the dainty second prince players just want to protect. His rare, intense expressions are dark yet compelling!”
And he describes Rook as “the prince from a neighboring kingdom who’s revealed to have been secretly protecting the MC, immediately granting him best boy status!”. Otherwise, however, he describes the school’s house wardens as “difficult”.

It occurred to me while browsing the toy section that Mandroid would probably love K'Nex.
Tumblr media
It involves engineering, has a bit of robotics thrown in with the motor and certain kits, and it has high educational value which I feel like he'd appreciate since he was a professor. He'd most likely build something ridiculously elaborate if he had enough pieces.

February 1964. Lex Luthor learns the true origin of Brainiac: as a humanoid "computer-spy" created by the tyrannical computer rulers of a distant planet (later called Colu).
Tumblr media
This story, which appeared in SUPERMAN #167, was a rather dramatic retcon: In his previous appearances, there was no indication that Brainiac wasn't just a green-skinned humanoid alien. His debut in ACTION COMICS #242 described his origins quite differently:
Tumblr media
So, why would National-DC and Superman editor Mort Weisinger make such a radical change to a fairly well-established villain? The explanation lies in an editorial footnote omitted from later reprints of SUPERMAN #167:
Tumblr media
As the letters column to which the footnote refers explains:
And now let us go behind the scenes and unveil a remarkable coincidence. The fictional character, "Brainiac," was created for us by Otto Binder, a famous science fiction writer who is currently the editor of "Space World," a magazine for rocket experts. (Otto also created "Bizarro" and wrote the great Superman novel, "Krypton Lives On." [SUPERMAN #132]) Shortly after the first "Brainiac" story first appeared in ACTION COMICS, in 1956 [sic; actually 1958], we learned that a REAL "Brainiac" existed … in the form of an ingenious "Brainiac Computer Kit" invented in 1955 by Edmund C. Berkeley. Mr. Berkeley is a distinguished scientist and a world authority on automation, computers and robots. In deference to his "Brainiac," which pre-dates ours, with this issue of SUPERMAN we are changing the characterization of our "Brainiac" so that the master-villain will henceforth possess a "computer personality." We are confident that our readers will approve of this transformation; it should make "Brainiac" a mightier adversary for the Man of Steel. Readers will be interested to learn that they can build their own "Brainiac" by purchasing one of Mr. Berkeley's computer kits and assembling the parts.
The latter paragraph also provides the address of the company, noting, "'Brainiac' kits cost less than $20.00 and make an ideal educational hobby."
This retcon stuck, and, as the editorial explanation suggested, did serve to make Brainiac a more formidable foe, although it created some discrepancies that were never adequately explained. The most important feature of the original Brainiac story in ACTION COMICS #242, of course, was Superman's discovery that the villain had previously stolen and shrunk the Kryptonian city of Kandor, which Superman recovered and brought to Earth at the end of that story. However, nothing in this revised origin suggests that shrinking cities and storing them in bottles to repopulate Brainiac's homeworld was part of Brainiac's original mission, or even a logical extension of it.
Years later, the early issues of L.E.G.I.O.N. '89 presented a post-Crisis version of how the computer uprising of Colu was finally resolved, which formed part of an even more convoluted origin of Brainiac.

Zanzo's Backstory Headcanons, in a more specific order than the previous post
37 years prior to the canon events of Hi-Fi Rush, Zanzo and his older fraternal twin brother were born prematurely at a hospital somewhere. (I read that two of the risk factors for developing cerebral palsy were being a twin and premature birth, so that's what this is based on.)
His older brother, who I named Katsu, is neurotypical and able-bodied. (Fraternal twins share 50% of their DNA, so this is possible.) He has a mellower, more conventional personality. He works in either Human Resources or Customer Service at a rival tech company.
Zanzo's personality as a child is best described as a little shit (affectionate). Loud, opinionated, spite motivated. Center of shenanigans. But rarely malicious. (Meg, isn't that just his canon behavior? Parts of it, yeah.)
The brothers were practically joined at the hip when they were kids. (Apart from occasional arguments and competitiveness).
This relationship weakened as they hit their teens and beyond, with Katsu's increased popularity and social demands.
Diagnosis... happened earlier on. The palsy and hearing loss certainly got noticed first. Once those got sorted out, autism became more apparent.
If cybernetics were available, I think they were well out of Zanzo's parents' budget. They made do with regular aids, which are also fairly expensive. (Many variables in place with that. Which is not our focus here.)
He used a walker indoors and a manual wheelchair outdoors. Both were extensively decorated with stickers, tape, and paint.
Zanzo learned to lip read but not sign language.
Zanzo's parents raised him and Katsu to the best of their ability. They held high expectations for their sons, pushing them to succeed. From Zanzo's perspective, there was an verbally unexpressed undercurrent of him failing to measure up.
I think what crushed him more than anything was the sense that no one truly supported him. His physical needs were addressed, but the emotional happened inconsistently. He coped with this by retreating into his interests.
Zanzo's foray into robotics began with repairing a broken toy robot. He guided Katsu in the reassembly process because he had steadier hands. It took years of convincing for his parents to buy him a robotics kit.
As far as schooling goes, I don't have any solid thoughts over whether he was mainstreamed or in special education classes. Definitely had multiple therapies and case workers throughout the years.
Being an outgoing kid, Zanzo had no problem seeking out friends. The problem was keeping them. And difficulties seemed to increase with age.
Avid member of his school's anime and video gaming clubs and its robotics team.
The folks who liked him noted his humor and creativity. They probably expected him to become a comic book artist, an animator, or video game developer.
He got relentlessly bullied/excluded for being "weird" (autistic) and physically disabled his entire schooling. Unfortunately, Zanzo ended up in trouble more often than not.
So about the "Jojo Villain OC" mask I mentioned last post. There was a time in Zanzo's teen years when he attempted to come off as "normal". (And yet again when he first arrived at Vandelay Technologies.) It did not work out like he hoped.
This persona is meant to keep others at a distance, I think. The opposite of regular autistic masking.
Vandelay Tech hired Zanzo as a programmer/engineer. (I'm split between the two.)
One day, Zanzo took the opportunity to share his concept art for future robots with Roxanne during one of her visits to the R&D labs. Kale found these drawings later and realized he had a good contender for replacing Macaron. (If Kale had investigated Zanzo more thoroughly, he probably would have picked someone else.)
The last time Zanzo spoke to Katsu was shortly after landing a job at Vandelay. (He cut off ties with his parents earlier.) Their conversation ended on a sour note.
Zanzo used to be a member of a disability forum. He left after a member voiced displeasure about his newly acquired cybernetics. (And the resulting argument that got both accounts banned.)
Becoming head of R&D should have been a dream come true. He gets to make robots! There's just so much more stress involved. (Not that Zanzo ever told anyone about it.)
Zanzo worried about not being able to fulfill his duties, especially with his employees continually singing Macaron's praises. (Those who did so within Zanzo's earshot often got "transferred to other responsibilities".)
Canonically speaking, the department heads operate on "teeth gritting teamwork". Zanzo battles Roquefort over budget matters, but I don't think he hates his coworkers. They're the closest thing he has to friends right now. (I may be wrong.)
Zanzo had plenty of questions about Project Armstrong and SPECTRA. Whenever he expressed them, they often got shut down and or ignored. Eventually, Zanzo gave up pursuing answers and stuck to his work.
The fates of earlier (human) test subjects weigh heavily on his mind. (The secretary robot after chamber three could've been referring to humans, robots, or both with her comments about survivors. We don't know for certain.) He knows he's in a messed up situation, but he can't get out of it. (As we saw in Korsica's case, Kale could very well kill him.) Besides, the robots overwhelmed them. It's not his fault. It's not his fault.

Super Robot Rollcall: Members of the Londo Bell
Bright Noah
Tumblr media
"I'm sorry, but i'll be putting your lives on the line."
Source Material: Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack
Age: 32
Height: 180 cm
Hobby: Model Kits
Voice Actor: Hirotaka Suzuoki
War vet among war vets, Bright is just plain old tired. Thrust into a commanding role right out of military academy due to the death of the entire chain of command above him, then mistreated by an authoritarian government, only to then have to fight a reborn version of his very first opposing faction while babysitting an entire ship of teenagers, Bright’s career has been seemingly nothing but a recipe for a nervous breakdown. Despite it all, he’s always managed to keep things together just enough to command authority and inspire confidence in all of those who serve under him, even if he’s had his fair share of low points.
Tumblr media
When it comes to raw stats, Bright is the best captain in the game. On top of that, he has a top-grade lineup of support-oriented Spirit Commands.
However, he has two big weaknesses. He doesn’t learn Focus (集中) nor Strike (必中, guarantees this unit’s next attack will not miss), which for a battleship captain means it’s gonna be very difficult for him to hit anything, and he spends long swathes of the game unavailable. Depending on your choices during route splits, you can have as little time with him as 12 total chapters of use (out of 37 chapters in the game!!).
Despite this, he DOES stay with us all the way to the end, and as a battleship captain, is going to be deployed whenever he’s around, whether we like it or not. And with that performance, we very much do like it.
Fun Fact: According to the December 1979 issue of Animage, Bright’s name is derived from “the Brightness of Noah’s ark”.
Ra Cailum
Tumblr media
Source Material: Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack
Length: 487 meters
The culmination of Earth Federation battleship design, this is the Londo Bell’s own flagship. Nearly as much of a SRW veteran as Bright and Amuro themselves.
Tumblr media
An absolute beast of a battleship. Tied for best allied battleship armor (though the battleship it’s tied with does have an edge over the Ra Cailum thanks to its barrier) in the game, Incredible firepower, 4 part slots, and a very powerful MAP attack thanks to its signature nuclear warheads. Sadly, Bright's Spirit Command learnset just isn’t quite equipped for this ship’s offensive output, so you could say it isn’t used to its fullest potential. If you really want Bright getting some kills, consider dedicating some of its parts slots to accuracy-boosting items.
Fun Fact: This style of ship (as a group, referred to as Ra Cailum-class battleships) would go on to see frontline usage as far as six decades after its first initial deployments. The culmination of Federation battleship design indeed!
youtube
Amuro Ray
Tumblr media
"I'm not impatient like you! I can wait for humanity to learn and grow!"
Source Material: Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack
Birthday: November 4th
Age: 29
Height: 172 cm
Education Level: Middle school graduate
Favorite Food: Hamburgers
Voice Actor: Tooru Furuya
The Federation’s infamous White Devil. If Bright is tired and stressed, Amuro is tired and depressed.
Alongside Bright and the entire makeshift crew of the White Base, he was thrust into active warfare in the middle of one of humanity’s bloodiest wars, but unlike Bright, he was one of the crew members who was originally nothing but a civilian. Feared due to the abilities he displayed during the war, after it he was essentially kept under house arrest and strict vigilance by the authoritarian regime of the Titans. Once they were finally toppled, Amuro's next foe would be one of his oldest and most personal enemies, Char Aznable.
Alongside Bright, Amuro is something of a SRW hall of famer. There’s very few SRW games he’s not present in. Alongside Ryoma from Getter Robo and Koji from Mazinger Z, he forms the core trio of SRW protagonists, who in recent games tend to be characterized as old war buddies.
Tumblr media
He’s just as much of a beast as his reputation would have you believe. He is top notch in every stat besides Melee and Defense, neither of which he particularly needs anyway. His already exorbitant Accuracy and Evasion are further compounded by his high Newtype level; by default he arrives with the skill at level 6, meaning that he has a permanent 25% hit/dodge modifier. This is nearly equivalent to him always having Focus (集中) active. If that somehow wasn’t enough, he comes with a stacked spirit command list right out of the gate, and will very soon learn an incredibly powerful skill in Zeal (覚醒, grants this unit an extra move).
If i had to find fault any with him, it’d be that Mercy (てかげん, if this unit’s next attack would shoot down an enemy, it will survive with 10 HP instead. Only procs if the user’s Skill stat is higher than the enemy’s) is basically a wasted Spirit slot, as this game doesn’t really have any particularly difficult missions requiring you to keep an enemy target alive, but if you ever need to feed someone kills for one reason or another, you can rest assured that Amuro’s enormous Skill stat will always make Mercy proc.
Fun Fact: During early phases of planning for 0079, Amuro was called Higashi Hongo.
Re-GZ
Tumblr media
Source Material: Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack
Model Number: RGZ-91
Height: 20.5 meters
Power Source: Nuclear Fusion Reactor
Real World Designers: Mamoru Nagano, Yoshinori Sayama
The Re-GZ (pronounced “Re-Gazee”), short for “Refined Gundam Zeta”, is a proof-of-concept Mobile Suit intended to simplify the famous Zeta Gundam from the Gryps Conflict for mass-production. Its complex transforming frame has been replaced with the much simpler solution of the Back Weapon System, a fancy marketing term for “what if instead of a transforming MS, we made a partsforming MS”. Though this succeeded in creating a Mobile Suit cheaper to produce than the Zeta, it’s just as unintuitive to pilot, was prone to running into issues due to the slapdash nature of the BWS, and was still fairly expensive in its own right. As a result, it never saw proper mass-production and instead became a machine for aces who could handle its eccentricities.

True to its lore, the Re-GZ is underwhelming. Average at best in most regards, and dips further into below average after armor purging.
The BWS-less Re-GZ IS equipped with the full UC loadout of gun, sword, and shield, so it has better survivability than you’d think, and getting shot down in BWS form will simply armor purge into this form, so you could argue that above all else, this machine prioritizes survivability. Still, even within that niche, there’s other robots later down the line that will completely invalidate it.
Fun Fact: Though only in a cutscene, in Super Robot Wars MX, this unit joins the rank of the distinguished few machines to be piloted by a character from an entirely different show, in this case a supporting character from Nadesico.

Kayra Su
Tumblr media
"Don't worry about me!"
Source Material: Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack
Voice Actress: Shinobu Adachi
Second in skill only to Amuro himself, Kayra is one of the Londo Bell’s top aces. She’s also in a relationship with Astonaige, the resident mechanic. Despite how it might look, it’s implied she’s the older one in the relationship!
I have a soft spot for her, even though she doesn’t do much. I just think she’s neat!
Tumblr media
Kayra is the single Oldtype pilot we get from the Universal Century in this game, and boy she does not do much of anything to make up for that unfortunate distinction.
Her stats are all fairly low save for a higher than usual Defense stat for a MS pilot (emphasis on the "for a MS pilot"), and her Spirit learnset is more fit for a Super pilot. Her only two upsides on that front are learning Valor (熱血) and Enable (再動) early, both of which are pretty good to have.
She does have one distinction, however; she is capable of acquiring the single highest level of the Blocking skill to be acquired by any allied unit in this entire game, at a whopping level 6. The Blocking skill is something I'll have to cover in a more indepth way once it comes up, but rest assured that this is actually rather impressive. There’s only three other characters in the game that even come close to this feat, and of those three, only two will be with you to the end of the game, and one of those two is a secret pilot! Sadly, there's little practical use for this other than making her slightly better at survival than you'd think at first glance. No Potential (底力) dashes her hopes of being some strange UC equivalent of a Super Robot pilot, and even "designated Support Defense punching bag" is too lofty of an ambition for her, thanks to her Support Defense skill capping out at level 2.
It's no great loss, but she won't be with us to the end of the game.
Fun Fact: In a possible reference to SDF Macross, Astonaige once promised to cook her his signature salad before a battle in Char’s Counterattack.
Jegan
Tumblr media
Source Material: Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack
Model Number: RGM-89
Height: 20.4 meters
Power Source: Nuclear Fusion Reactor
Real World Designer: Yutaka Izubuchi
The standard mass-produced Federation mobile suit circa the mid-UC 90s and beyond, and the successor to the iconic GM series of mass-produced mobile suits. Of the Federation's mass-produced MSs, this is probably the one with the most appearances in SRW.
Tumblr media
SRW R’s Jegan is unfortunate. There are so many issues with it i struggle to even see where to begin. There's Supers with better Mobility and Reals with better Armor.
Its only good points to speak of are having the UC standard loadout of sword, shield and gun, having 4 parts slots, and having a 5-range post-movement attack… but its base damage is so low, and its upgrades cost so high for so little return, that you couldn’t possibly see that last one as a selling point unless you’ve already made up your mind that you want to use this robot. To rub salt in the wound, it’s got a glacial default movement range of 5 tiles, meaning that in practice, its post-movement 5-range missiles are hardly an advantage.
Depending on the way you look at it, keeping this thing until the end of the game kind of constitutes a secret? I know the Jegan has some diehard fans out there, so if you are one, you'd better make your presence known soon so i can know not to lock myself out of it. And be aware that keeping the Jegan until the end also means picking it over the Thaqnz Zx-VVV (rot13).
Fun Fact: A rarity for mobile suits, the Jegan does not have a “front skirt”, e.g. the little mechanical flaps that usually cover the mobile suit’s “thighs”. This was apparently done to reduce the workload of drawing a bunch of Jegans onscreen during the movie.

Create Your Own Jurassic World: How to Make a STEM Toy Dinosaur Egg for Kids!
How to Make a STEM Toy Dinosaur Egg: A Fun and Educational Project for Kids
Introduction: STEM education is becoming increasingly popular as parents and educators recognize the importance of providing children with opportunities to develop skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. One way to engage kids in STEM learning is through hands-on projects that are both fun and educational. In this blog post, we'll show you how to make a STEM toy dinosaur egg that will inspire kids to explore the world of science and engineering.
Materials Needed for Making a STEM Toy Dinosaur Egg
To make a STEM toy dinosaur egg, you will need the following materials:
Plaster of Paris
Water
Plastic Easter eggs
Small plastic dinosaur toys
Food coloring (optional)
Mixing bowl
Spoon
Measuring cup
Newspaper or plastic sheet
Step-by-Step Guide to Making a STEM Toy Dinosaur Egg
Follow these easy steps to make your very own STEM toy dinosaur egg:
Step 1: Cover your work area with newspaper or a plastic sheet to protect it from spills and mess.
Step 2: Mix the plaster of Paris and water according to the instructions on the package. For best results, use a 2:1 ratio of plaster to water.
Step 3: Add a few drops of food coloring to the mixture if you want to give the egg a colored tint. This step is optional but can add an extra element of fun to the project.
Step 4: Carefully pour the plaster mixture into the plastic Easter eggs until they are about half full.
Step 5: Place a small plastic dinosaur toy inside the egg, making sure it is fully submerged in the plaster.
Step 6: Fill the egg with the remaining plaster mixture until it is almost full.
Step 7: Close the egg and shake it gently to remove any air bubbles.
Step 8: Let the egg sit for about an hour or until the plaster has fully hardened.
Step 9: Once the plaster has hardened, carefully remove the eggshell by gently tapping it with a spoon or a hammer. Be sure to do this over a soft surface, such as a towel or a piece of foam, to prevent the dinosaur from getting damaged.
Step 10: Once the eggshell is removed, you will have a STEM toy dinosaur egg with a small plastic dinosaur inside. You can paint or decorate the egg to make it look more realistic.
The Educational Benefits of Making a STEM Toy Dinosaur Egg
Making a STEM toy dinosaur egg is not only a fun and creative activity, but it also promotes learning in several STEM areas:
Science: Kids learn about the properties of plaster, the chemical reaction that occurs when mixing plaster and water, and how the plaster hardens over time.
Technology: Kids use their hands and tools to mix the plaster, pour it into the egg, and remove the eggshell.
Engineering: Kids learn how to follow step-by-step instructions and use trial and error to perfect their technique.
Mathematics: Kids use measuring cups and spoons to measure the amount of plaster and water needed.
Incorporating STEM Toys into Playtime
