Hi guys🌷so I am in Switzerland rn and I have a new song coming out this Friday and it’s called Motorcycle and it is one of my favorite songs evvvahhhhhh :) I wrote it in August of 2022 in New York.. The whole week me and the boys had been jamming, and I was writing these uptempo soul songs where I was belting and shit as always. It was the last day in the studio and I was talking about maybe starting something slower with some brushes on the snare. Within like 30 mins we had jammed and written Motorcycle, it fell out so quickly, which is always the best sign that we had something special ✨

Lyrically the song dives into this internal dichotomy I experience a lott in my life. One side of me is always wanting to slow down and settle down and be in love and be normal and have babies and shit, while the other, very forceful, part of me needs to be restlessly independent and stubborn and free. The song is essentially a fantasy about me living in a reality where both sides of me can exist simultaneously……. Secret lives of the wives of Harley Davidson type…..

The instruments were recorded in one take. My vocal was recorded in one take. Barely any editing. I hope you feel the real rawness we were serving that day. Massive thank yous to @elmichelsaffair @kennybeats @homer808 @nick_movshon and Paul for being brilliant creative partners and the best band ever

Ending this monday with the #menahanstreetband #maketheroadbywalking Menahan Street Band is a #Brooklyn, New York-based #instrumental #band formed in 2007, that plays funk and soul music. The band features musicians from #antibalas, elmichelsaffair, #sharonjonesandthedapkings and the #budosband. The group was founded by Thomas Brenneck while living in an apartment on Menahan St. in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bushwick. Their debut album, Make the Road by Walking, was released in 2008 on Dunham, a sublabel of #daptonerecords.
