Mama Lala is an 86 year old great grandmother whose home in Saint Martin, was destroyed by Hurricane Irma. For 17 months she has lived in the debris that was once her life, cobbled together with wire and rusty nails. 
Last night she finally slept in her new home, free from rats, mosquitos and rain. 
I want to thank every one who contributed to helping throughout this ordeal. Whether you donated, food, money, or simply the time to check up on her. 
Thanks to Jeff Jhangiani and All about a smile (SXM). Your love and efforts made an incredible difference in her life. 
I want to thank Helene Hunt of the ITEA S.R.I.T.S. Foundation and Sofia Carti of the Collectivité of Saint Martin. Without your tireless efforts her new home would not exist. 
Finally, I want to thank Glenn Wozniak, who stepped in at the last minute to build the stairs to allow Mama Lala to step through the door of her new home. 
There’s still so much more to do but we are finally at a point where we can sleep better knowing Mama Lala is safe and comfortable.
Today, with the help of Mary-Beth Mango McCormack, we dropped off a new bed, table, 4 chairs and some shelving. We are trying to schedule an electrician to connect the electricity and a plumber to hook up the water and sewage. Once the electricity is connected the fridge will arrive.

Some of the things she can use:
- small kitchen counter and sink (water connection is being added to the kitchen) - bedside table - dresser with drawers for her bedroom - electric pedestal fan x 2 (220 volt) 
NOTE: The front door is only 28.75 inches (73cm) wide. 
All About a Smile (SXM) has also been doing amazing work for Mama Lala and many others.
