Elsa Birgitta Bekman - On My Way

A Dutch artist of Swedish and French heritage, Elsa Birgitta Bekman is a singer-songwriter who wears many hats, shadowing as a multi-instrumentalist and her own video producer and director. Her latest track “On My Way”, delivered through her storytelling prose is a biographical retrospective of her personal journey witnessed through love lost and found. A literary track of theatrical performance, “On My Way” is accentuated through the carry of her billowy vocal solace and poetic delivery. Flowing with its regal strings, fluttery woodwinds and a certain piano grandeur, Elsa’s personal story is witnessed through its orchestral embrace. Spoken through heartfelt sentiment and vivid emotion, Bekman spoke at length about her track and its accompanying visuals:

"I’ve written ‘On My Way’ during my teenage years. It’s sort of an analysis of the journey of life in which I contemplate several aspects of it: love, mortality, social behaviour and personal development... How love is of importance, but is also something that can be lost; how life can be long, but for some is cut short; how sometimes we say or do things that hurt ourselves or the people around us which we’ll later regret. We’re living our lives, experiencing things, making mistakes and hopefully learning from them before eventually moving on. It’s all about being ‘on your way’ to becoming a wiser version of yourself.”

For the music video, we wanted to do something different this time. So far we’ve made videos with a script and fictional storylines. In this video we show the behind the scenes images of that process and also moments from my daily life during the last 4 years. The biggest challenge was therefore to find and choose the most relevant and interesting moments to tell this story in 4 minutes. We also wanted to show not only the beautiful romanticized moments, but also the frustrations and struggles, because that’s what life is like. Not always easy or successful, but that makes it interesting and this makes you appreciate the highlights even more.”
