I am going to say this, having finished the first fifteen episodes of Eric’s TBD RPG (spoilers below):

Taliesin Jaffe’s Master may be my second favorite Master only to Roger Delgado.  Holy shit, everything out of his mouth is solid gold.  He is the perfect balance of laser focus, flirtation, ice-cold calculations, casual quips, casual villainy, and smarmy bastardness.  Every line had me cackling, his flirtation with the Doctor is spot-on, his ruthless devotion to saving the universe at all costs is fascinating, and everything about him makes me grin and yell, “YOU COMPLETE BASTARD MAN!” at the screen.

I am completely in love with his portrayal of the Master, and this show has gone from fun and cute to absolutely riveting now that he’s in it.  It is fucking delicious.

I assume based on recent notes that you mean Eric's TBD rpg? it was an actual play of the doctor who rpg on geek and sundry - I watched it on their streaming service which I think no longer exists but it might be on YouTube? it's literally called Eric's TBD rpg

Thanks for writing for me! Since I don't know what fandoms you want to write for, I have quick thoughts about a lot of things under the read more to avoid annoying other people with a long post.

General Thing to Know/Requests

The max Teen and Up rating request is to allow for canon typical violence and language for some fandoms,

but I DNW fics with sexual content. It squicks me out.

please no romance centered fic unless otherwise specifically requested, but background romance is cool as long as its tagged

I tend to prefer fics with endings in the hopeful to happy range

I do vaguely remember Taliesin playing The Master in that though hehe.

Ovokali Headcanons

Unlike purely reptilian species, they don't let eggs. Rather, they create large seeds (much larger than a normal plant, and as such create fewer of them than plants) and plant them for the gestation period, at which point their young saplings emerge to begin raising.

The creation and fertilization of seeds is capable by any partner (as they do not have a concept of gender) and is a, while intimate act, never sexual

Before the Judoon conquest of Ovokali, their naming conventions tended to be plant names in the Ovokali language. This can still be seen post conquest, but is much less common as names tended to be in the Judoon language and the Judoon have no such variety in plant vocabulary

The Ovokali were a rather peaceful species of agricultural tenders and traders. They weren't much for travel themselves (though they certainly had the knowledge to do so, as their academic fields were also quite vibrant; they simply preferred their warm, life filled planet to the cold reaches of space), though they did have many space ports that acted as trade outposts

Akin to Star Trek's Betazoids, they were often brutally honest - at least amongst themselves - due to their psychic nature and their common unquenchable curiosity

The Great Classic Doctor Who Rewatch

So, on the back of watching Eric’s TBD RPG and remembering that I love Doctor Who, but finding myself wishing that there had been a lot more classic Who references in it (apparently neither the GM nor the main cast had watched it, and only a few of the guests like Taliesin Jaffe, Darin de Paul, and Jason Charles Miller had watched classic Who), I figured it was finally time to rewatch classic Doctor Who, and this time I figured I’d blog about it as I go.  This was in effort not just to record my impressions of the classic adventures, but also to try to draw new people into watching the classic era, or even just giving them ideas of how to go about watching so much television.

I debated how I wanted to go about it.  The First and Second Doctors are tricky to rewatch, because so many of their episodes were lost during a BBC purge and then a fire during the 1970s.  The audio tracks still exist, but only still images from those episodes survive.  Now, a while back, the BBC very smartly hired some animators to reconstruct the episodes in animated form.  They haven’t gotten through all the lost classic episodes, but a lot of them have been at least sort of restored to watchability.  But that still left a lot of those episodes in a poor condition.  You can actually start your own classic Who watch with the Third Doctor, as none of his episodes are lost, and most are in color.  They also created a fairly hard break from the previous two doctors, as well as adding a lot of the classic monsters and characters during his run, so it’s not at all a bad place to start.  

But I wanted to go from the beginning.  Classic Who has also undergone a digital reprocessing and cleanup recently, I found out, and I wanted to see what all those older episodes looked like all cleaned up and pretty.  And they were available to me through Britbox (I assume the UK just gets them through the BBC), along with all the animated episodes they’ve managed to put out so far.  And I personally have ye olde DVDs of every classic episode, including the old jank reconstructions consisting of audio files and still images.  So I do believe I have access to EVERY CLASSIC WHO episode in some form.

And, after some consideration as to strategy, it’s time to rewatch them all.

Eric: You and River Song are standing in front of Tezekiel. He has his bodyguards filtering out of the room as well. The one he has stay in is a very large man who's carrying what looks like a shotgun. He's got this smug look on his face, like he knows he could kill everybody if he wanted to. Tezekiel leans back as everyone walks out of the room, and he says, “First of all, I just want to tell you I appreciate your candor. I took advantage of you. You’re a big man for being willing to work with me.”

Eric: “That’s true.”

Eric: River's face goes completely blank. She quickdraws her gun and puts a bullet in the bodyguard's head. He didn't even see it coming. The bodyguard drops as brains splatter all over the bulkhead behind him... [Tezekiel] jumps up. There’s a gun on the desk. It looks like he’s gonna go for it.

Eric: He slowly sits back into his chair.

Eric: "Wait, y-you can't do—"

Eric: His eyes widen, for a second. He nods slowly, says, "Yeah, yeah, yeah."

Eric: You see him pull out a data pad and paper, and he types it, and he writes it. Signs his name to it.

Eric: "L-look, I’m sorry...”

Eric: He reaches over, and he says—

Eric: He vanishes.

“Chronotis”: Let’s go. And please, “Don’t Look Back in Anger”. Eric: She blinks, and kind of... just... follows you out the door. Taliesin: ‘Night, kids!
