morion had always been a staunch believer in his own strength. emblems are a sacred item not just in brodia but throughout elyos's entirety, this he knows; despite that, he assumed that, for him specifically, donning an emblem ring would be the same as giving a dragon a giant flaming meteor tome or something. it's wholly unnecessary!

...such was his thought process before he'd met the one inside the forgotten ring, of course.

lambert, he'd said his name was---the king of a cold kingdom, long since past his rule as he was at that time. he'd known of the continent of fodlan, implying a tie to the emblem of the academy, but the two's timelines had never crossed.

it was interesting to learn about him and the kingdom of faerghus from which he hailed. showing him around brodia had taught morion that the similarities were vast, which made an easy segue into a deeper connection forged by weapon fascination, mineralogy, and the fur market. he was taught how to handle snowstorms better, how to use blizzards to one's advantage, and how not to rig a plumbing system ( the lattermost point having morion howl with laughter so hard that saphir had smacked him for waking her ). dragons, lambert was funny.

and he was a beast, battle-wise. where morion wielded the axe and the sword, lambert completed the circle with his lance. the two together were indestructible; any man who dared to draw close was shredded by the weapon superiority of a king and his emblem.

...yes, his emblem. morion did like the sound of that. but did lambert appreciate having claim laid to him without his knowledge?

one evening, when the battles had subsided and the castle interior was aglow only with the light of candles, morion calls to the small ring on his right index finger.

" ...lambert? can i talk to ya? "

blue flames erupt from the gem set in the middle, but morion does not flinch; he knows these embers will never burn him nor even run hot. the light blossoms into a figure with sturdy armor that rivals the king's own, and a deep blue cape unfurls from behind a collar of fur. golden hair suspends in the air as though underwater, and it is finally then that the fire reveals a chisel-cut face with war-scarred yet gentle eyes.

lambert, emblem of the holy lion king ( as dubbed by morion ), floats at attention. it makes morion hesitant.

" hey there, " morion starts, though his voice quickly dies as he reconsiders what he's trying to say. is now the time for casualties? perhaps not. " er...

" look, lambert, i've been thinkin'. " hand draws behind neck as he looks off, somewhat bashfully. " y'know, before i'd met you, i was all against usin' emblems for myself. i thought that my strength would carry me as far as i needed, and an emblem would just be overkill.

" but after havin' you around, helping me in all those battles... i figured somethin' out. " his eyes flick back to lambert's, trying to ignore the burning focus in those ethereal blue irises. " it's not just about the power. it's about the person, too. and i've... i've gotten... attached, i guess you could say. "

he isn't sure if lambert even cares. or does he? it's never easy to read people, but emblems even less so; they've lived lives far longer than morion could ever dream of. what has lambert seen, and how does he feel under morion's command? does he respect him? does he care for him the way morion does for lambert? does he, does he, does he...

but morion's thoughts are interrupted when lambert pulls nearer. there's a glow on his face that morion thinks isn't just because of the emblem flame, and as hands smooth over his shoulders and playfully grip his chin...

...morion's much more than fairly sure he understands.

" i... hope i'm not imposin', " morion says next, voice lowered to just above a whisper, " but if it's alright with ya...

" ...i'd really like to kiss ya. "

morion feels as though it shouldn't be possible to kiss an emblem, but if the very real feeling of lambert's gauntlets on his skin is anything to go by, he probably doesn't know as much as he thinks he does about emblems. lambert inches close and so does he; their lips meet, and morion immediately feels as though he's in a dream.

blue tinders swirl through his vision and yet lambert is always perfectly clear. he feels whiskers tickle the bottom of his lip and, when lambert tilts his head, morion decides he'll just roll with whatever comes next. eyes close and emblem-bearing hand brushes against lambert's cheek,

and emblem and wielder...

...well, let us just say they achieve A+ rank, shall we?

Falling for you wasn't part of his plan.

Partly because he was simply hired to escort you from your winter home, through the monster infested woods, and make sure you settled in nicely at your summer home.

Very quickly he came to the conclusion that you were unlike any other princess he'd dealt with in the part, and trust me, he's come across a few.

You weren't beaten down by the tragedies and heartache this world inhabited. You relished in what was good, and only passed it on to all who you met. You were so open with him, hanging on to every (rare) word he spoke, a keen interest and intelligence in your gaze. You weren't afraid of his reputation - you were fascinated by it.

And whenever Roach was given a break from either of you riding her, you'd link arms with Geralt as he lead you along long forgotten tracks, your flowing and floral sleeves soft and delicate compared to the hardy leather and heavy chain he was so used to wearing.

You emerged from the woods about a two weeks into the journey, and you both were lucky enough to not come across any sort of beasts during your time there. Once the trees parted and the frosted forest floor became green grass, Geralt felt as though he'd walked straight through a portal and into another realm completely.

While your winter home had been blanketed with snow and unforgiving layers of ice...

The land surrounding your summer abode was teeming with life. Fields upon fields of rich soil allowed fruit trees and flowers to flourish, and the sun on the back of his neck prickled his skin with warmth.

And in the golden glow of the late afternoon, you grinned up at him and pulled him along the path, and you were simply ethereal.

You insisted he stay a little while longer, and he couldn't help but begin to enjoy the domestic and refreshing way of life you lived at your estate. Every night, he lay in bed, with clean clothes and crisp sheets covering him, and he fell asleep to the beautiful view outside his open window. A hill with an ancient tree in the distance caught his attention, and in his bleary-eyed state the witcher mused the idea of you perched on one of the branches, hair and dress tussled in the light summer breeze.

As if he was a seer, that's exactly how he found you a few days later. You kicked your legs as he approached the mound, a flower crown sitting lopsided on your head. He couldn't resist the grin that tugged at his lips at your carefree and glowing nature.

You spent the whole day at that tree, eventually coming down to join him on the blanket you'd brought, sampling crusty bread and sipping berry wine as the day faded. In the midst of his storytelling, you traced the rim of your goblet with a finger, a soft yet pensive look on your face.

Eventually his words failed him, and you watched each other with careful intrigue before you proposed that he stay at least another week. Geralt frowned and considered the idea. Nowhere else would he experience such fine weather at this time of year, such humble but delicious food, and the land itself seemed to discourage monsters from invading. It was a lovely hideaway and retreat from the outer world.

But when he agreed and you rested your head on his shoulder, huffing out a content sigh, he continued to say that the view by his side was far fairer than any he'd come across in his travels.

You leaned back to glance up at the witcher, only to have golden eyes already meeting yours. In them, you saw promise, yearning, hope. He wants to stay for you.

And like his eyes and yours, your lips met soon after 💗

Calls you this more than your actual name, and they are more than happy to have you call them it too. Ashton literally has to bite back a huge grin when you refer to him as it before he practically crashes into skids over to you.

Slings a strong arm over your shoulders and tugs you into their side, playfully headbutting your temple, and you just know he's smiling next to you. Coos the nickname, whines it, says it when he's mad and when he laughs. No thoughts, head empty, only babe.

It's sappy, true, but sometimes they wonder if you were made special for him by some sort of patron god looking out for him. You came into their life when they needed someone like you most.

Looks at you, a pinch between his brows from where he's furrowed them. He asks you why are you giving him something, and stiffens when you say "Just because~" He's not used to being gifted something without the other person having an ulterior motive, and even then the object given to him is something useful, tying him to an errand or quest.

It's... nice, the flowers so delicate and soft and his in his grasp. He looks pensive, and you reach out and ask him if there's something wrong, but he shakes his head and the corners of his lips quirking up as he regards you. "You didn't have to, but you did it anyway, and I'm very grateful that you thought of me." He seals his sincerity with a kiss.

His mouth parts in a soft 'o' shape and lifts the small bouquet closer to his nose to breathe in the subtle floral scent. His eyes close for just a moment before opening, brighter than ever, full of unfiltered joy.

Warmth flushes across his face and he grins giddily, thanking you with a flourish of pretty words and kisses to your cheek. You squirm in his grasp but the eager affections of the bard cause laughter to spill from your mouth, and this only encourages him further.

The bunch of flowers you held out to her were far too nicely wrapped in paper to be simple spell components, so she prepares polite "thank you"s and "you shouldn't have"s in her head, not quite sure how to respond.

But when her fingers brush against yours, electricity flutters across her skin, and it awakens something within her, something that she had pushed aside for far too long. She huffs a laugh as a smile dances across her lips, and for the first time in what seems like forever, all is well.

He swallows, nods, and thanks you earnestly, thumbing a velvet soft, golden petal and allowing the swell of emotion to spread through his chest. Suddenly, all of his duties are stripped back, and it's only you and Cahir in this moment.

Takes your hand and presses his lips to your knuckles in thanks, and promises to return your kindness later. Be it dinner or dancing, jewellery or gemstones, as long as you know how touched he was by the sentiment he's happy. "Whatever it is you desire, say the word and it is yours, darling."

"What am I going to do?" he asks, golden eyes heavy with sleep and threatening to close as the seconds drift by. The hand - your hand - in his hair certainly isn't helping, carding out tangles and picking out leaves after a long day's travel.

"You're going to guide her," you murmur, and he can hear the smile in your voice, "train her, scold her if need be... And love her just as a father should."

His grip tightens in the bedsheets when you accidentally catch your fingers in a knot, but he doesn't so much as wince. Instead, his mind wanders to what's to be in the months and years ahead of them.

The princess with ashen hair sleeps soundly in the next room - though it wouldn't surprise either of you if she was pouring over some ancient tome she found in the library instead.

"A father, you say..." Geralt sighs, partially exasperated with the notion, and partially content with it as you begin to lay down next to him in the bed, "A weighty title indeed."

"Perhaps," you whisper as you reach out, cupping his face and prompting him to finally close his eyes, "but it's a title not often given to people like us - the Law of Surprise truly has a sense of humour. And if you'll have me, I'll be at your side every step of the way."

The corners of his lips quirk upwards, assuring you that he heard your words and is grateful for them.

my NAVA summer decants came in the mail on saturday, so they’ve only rested for two days but the collection comes down on the 29th so i’m testing today so i can test at least once more to see if i want to FS any. trying out two today.

Loveasaurus: Bourbon Vanille, White Amber, Sweet Tobacco, Rice Milk, Rice Shea accord, Rice Pudding accord, Japanese Honeysuckle Extrait, Tonka Bean and Benzoin Incense

i love NAVA’s bourbon vanille and white amber, and i also love tobacco, rise milk, and have been on the lookout for a good, realistic honeysuckle since i started collecting indies. initial impression is good! i don’t get much tobacco, but the vanille and amber blend together into something that’s best described as sweet, bright, and white. kind of a bad description, but, you know.

i get more honeysuckle in the vial than on the skin. but it adds a bit of almost powdery honey-floral sweetness. i think i’m also getting the benzoin, because there’s something deeper and almost sticky. so far it’s pretty faint on my skin, so the other one i’m testing is kind of overwhelming it, meaning i’ll have to test this alone one day.

Ice Cream & Summer Peach: NA Summer Peach accord, Peach skin, Ripe Peach accord, Tonka, Crystalline Vanilla Absolute, eNVie parfum saphir (Egyptian Amber & Musk Resin, blue balsamic amber, sweet papyrus oil from Cairo and Siam benzoin) and Bastet’s Ice Cream (Vanilla Crystalline Cream, Butter accord, Caramel Accord, French Vanilla Bean Absolute, Vanilla Milk accord, Vanilla Orchid, Crystalline Absolute and Vanilla Sugar). 

the peach is sweet and almost powdery, like someone took a real peach, dehydrated it, and then crushed the dehydrated peach into powder, and sprinkled it over ice cream. i dislike bastet’s ice cream on its own, but here, especially coupled with more crystalline, it’s a sugary sweet, ethereal vanilla.

overall, it’s nice. perfectly serviceable. but i don’t think it’s what i want from a perfume. the peach is too sweet and almost candy-like, and not like the realistic and juicy peach i love from arcana. i’ll probably destash this decant.

the other two summer decants i got are Mango Vanilla Ice Cream (Mango skin, Bali Mango accord, Mango Pulp, Mango Crystals accord, Vanilla bean fleck, Vanilla Crystalline Cream, Butter accord, Caramel Accord, French Vanilla Bean Absolute, Vanilla Milk accord, Vanilla Orchid, Crystalline Absolute and Vanilla Sugar) which smells like candy in the vial so i probably won’t like it, and Royal Sandalwood Blood Citrus (Italian Blood Orange absolute, Sicilian Blood Orange essential oil, Australian Sandalwood, Indian Sandalwood aged in a Bourbon and Oakwood barrel, Tangerine Zest, Orange Zest, Blood Orange Zest, Crystalline Vanilla absolute, Bastet’s Musk and Vanilla Bean) that i knew i would love but not need a lot of so i got a chonk (2.3ml) from ajevie and the original bottle (looks like it has 1-2ml in it), and, yeah, i can tell i’m gonna fucking love it. hope i don’t regret not getting a FS...

Instead of Garnet forming, the Gemstones morphed into the shapes of two different figures. They were both chromatic in the way only gems were, with each part of them simply a shade of one color.

One of the figures was red, and did look a bit like Garnet, if only for the hair. She was short, even more so than Amethyst, and already had her hands in the odd, rhombus shaped salute.

The second figure was blue, with rather long, pale blue hair that covered her eyes. This one wore a dress that looked like it would be more at home on a princess. Her hands were folded in front of her in a regal pose as she and her partner descended to the ground.

As they landed on the ground, the red figure turned to the blue one.

"My Saphire, as my sworn duty and sole purpose I will protect you with my life" they said. It nearly seamed practiced.

"I know, my Ruby. Now, let's stand over there, I predict we're about to be introduced" said the blue figure, likely Saphire, in an ethereal tone.

Priyanka shot a look toward Amethyst, one that had been copied from her husband. It was a look designed to silently convey a single message. Explain, now.

Amethyst looked at her, sullen.

"Priyanka, Connie. Let me introduce Ruby and Saphire, Garnet's component Gems"

Priyanka kept up her look.

"Component gems..."

"Later"

Amethyst walked over to the door.

"You two should head home and get some rest. I'll get this mess worked out as soon as possible" Amethyst said.

Connie had gotten off the couch on her own, and had begun walking to the door. Priyanka followed behind her and comforted her as they left.

Amethyst turned toward the three Gems that had lost their memories.

It was going to be a long few days.

Clockwork Horror

The Manor sat empty, devoid of any signs of life. The wind howled and the rain poured in sheets as the five young sould entered her lair. Thomas, Wren, Saphire, Cortez and Lynn each admired the old house, curious of who lived here and what they would find.

So slowly they separated, Thomas opting to stay by the main entry area. Slowly they started to explore the manor.

Ancient artworks lined the halls, many depicting great battles or men and women in armor. Some were nothing more than enlarged diagrams of muscles, depicting how they flexed and contracted without the skin on.

Suddenly a scream rings out through the manor, it's ethereal voice hauntingly pained and hungry. As they all converged, A teenage girl walks out of the shadows. Her skin pale and her hair white as snow with a single purple streak coming down the side.

Thomas wanted to leave, as well as Saphire, but they others were curious. Was she a ghost who wanted to help them?

"You do not belong."

The five took note of that as metallic clicking was heard from above as a long claw swooped down, Impaling Thomas and dragging him, screaming to the ceiling.

It was on the ceiling they saw it.

A twisted metal abomination, composed of rusted and pitted scrap metal in the vague form or a centipedes body with a skeletal torso at the head. In it's metal claws was half of Thomas' dead body, the other half slowly being consumed in the four splitting mouth of the skull.

With a horrid, ear curdling shriek, it released the dead body to flop on the floor as the remaining for survivors ran for safety.

Lilian smiled a thin cruel smile. "You can't escape. You don't belong here and yet you can't escape." She said as the rapid susscesion of metallic legs surged forth to seek their prey.

Sailor Moon R episode 37 (83) was another great one! Quite a lot of exposition in this episode, and finally some sort of explanation as to how Chibiusa comes from the 30th century and also has Mamoru and Usagi as her parents. I had thought that it was potentially something to do with Endymion and Serenity, perhaps some weird immortality or reincarnation stuff again, but as explained to us by the future Mamoru (who looks very dashing, might I add), a tragedy struck the Earth which put it into a cold sleep until the 30th century, at which point Usagi, who is now Neo Queen Serenity, used the Silver Crystal to awaken the Earth again. I’m assuming that she, Mamoru and the other Sailor Soldiers were kinda just in stasis with the Earth at that time, but whatever caused Serenity to awaken so she could awaken the Earth, I have no idea. Anyway she becomes like Queen of the world or whatever and Tokyo becomes Crystal Tokyo, but eventually some bastards start appearing, so she and the gang stop those bastards, but some of them don’t want to be cleansed so journey out into space, onto the 10th planet, where they I guess they were like, enhanced by the planet’s dark nature, which is how the Black Moon Clan are as dark and spooky as they are. As for the Sailor Soldiers of the future, they all used their powers to form a crystal barrier around Queen Serenity before she got killed by a direct attack, but it put her to sleep and she hasn’t woken up, which I think is why Chibiusa was like, afraid of the future them - she misunderstood. After doing that the Sailor Soldiers of the future are collectively using their power to maintain a barrier around Crystal Tokyo so the enemies can’t be bastards. Coolio. It’s quite a lot of backstory and I liked it, the Dark Kingdom had backstory but there was never quite this much, honestly this series has pretty entertaining world-building. Also, Endymion reveals for us that, yes, Chibiusa is indeed Mamoru and Usagi’s child! Chibiusa’s asleep for that scene so we don’t get to see her reaction but Mamoru and Usagi’s is super cute and funny, they’re blushing like hell! It’s particularly good with Mamoru because A) we’ve never seen him this flustered and B) he’s still dressed as Tuxedo Mask in this scene so he looks extra goofy. With all the backstory out of the way, we can move forward, but Prince Dimande actually shows up and makes his first direct attack, kidnapping Usagi, suppressing her powers with the Evil Black Crystal, and attempting to kiss her, which is all a bit fucked. Thankfully, Future Endymion knows where they are (btw his body’s like, damaged, so he’s been ethereal this entire time) and so Tuxedo Mask can go rescue her with his, hang glider that I guess was prepared just for him in the future? He’s fuckin wack I love him. So he saves Usagi and before Dimande can attack, he’s actually stopped by a mysterious dark energy, which we learn is from Esmeraude, and then she’s approached by Saphire who’s all “I hate Sailor Moon too”. So I mean, Esmeraude and Saphire both hate that Dimande’s into Sailor Moon, so they could possibly turn traitor against him out of that rage, and then Wiseman’s also just fuckin shady as shit. I think it’d be sick if the Black Moon Clan just totally crumbles like that in the final hour. God this finale’s shaping up to be so much better than that of Queen Beryl. I’m just, really enjoying Sailor Moon, man. Don’t know what’s in store with future arcs (other than new Sailor Soldiers obviously and I think some dark duplicates maybe?) nor do I know what the general consensus is on which arcs are the best but I’m really loving this Black Moon Clan stuff.

First Impressions:

God damn, even your friends list is blue! SO MUCH BLUE, DAVE! SO MUCH BLUE! Wait… your profile is hella blue, but your lair is mismatched! I LOVE THAT!! I saw the profile and thought I was going to be punched in the face with Ice and white but dayum… I’m excited!!

Chi

Ohh dayum! Yes! Good, yes! This is goooood!!! I love me some Plague goodness! (No, YOU’RE BIAS, shut up!). I LOVE how well the Magician’s hat matches the Blood Peregrine! Sooo nice! My only qualm with Chi is that she’s a little bit cluttered. I like the lightness that the Autumn Breeze brings, and it matches the Halloween hatchdate (that’s in Autumn/Fall, right?) but I just feel like it doesn’t match overall. I love the Herb pouch, but the leaves hanging down really annoy me. Overall, though, if there’s no major character to be considered, I can dig it!! Also, did you make the banner at the bottom? It’s really cool!!

Oh wait, the green in the Herb Pouch and the Autumn Breeze do seem to tie it in nicely with the Deadland Disciple! I get it!

Yuki

Ohh, right… I get it! The goal is, pick a flight to represent and then just CHUCK ALL THE THINGS ON, RIGHT? IT’S AESTHETICS!

No, but actually I REALLY like Yuki! The Antlers and the Herb Pouch tie him in with Chi really well! Your dragons are all about de herbs ;) I feel you, friend ;). Alright, enough.

Yuki is a little bit cluttered but it really works with ice, It essentially works as icicles forming all over his body. He seems so regal and fancy, the eyes kind of work with that too, in this outfit they look kind of glazed over, like he’s too distracted by his own inflated sense of self importance, haha.

I like the pairing with the Cragward Custodian, especially compared to the Ice Sprite, this works waaay better! And that banner! Hecking YES!!!!

Cassiopeia

OH GOSH YES, THIS FUELS MY SOUL!!! You’ve matched the blues and purples PERFECTLY with the illusionist! And the pinkish hues (hues, is that the word?) in the Alchemist tools work really well as a focal piece of the whole outfit! I’m really digging it!

I love how the female Guardian turns their heads, because it looks like she’s actually annoyed with the Gloomwillow guide, like it sort of pesters her, following her around. The trail it leaves look like it just darted around in front of her and Cassiopeia is like “DO YOU HECKING MIND!?” and the guide is like “Shit! Sorry!” haha, maybe it’s just the red eyes which make her seem kind of pissed off?

I absolutely love this whole thing! My favourite so far!!! <3

Isaye

Is this a dragon or a big brown and green blob!? A COW THREW UP ON YORU SPIRAL, FRIEND!

But seriously, I really like how you’ve utilised the chocolate and ginger instead of the standard browns, and the Ethereal Flame cloak really compliments the Ivory well! It definitely looks like a big flowery bush, and I like how the horns from the Naturalist Adornments and the Witch’s Cobwebs tie her in with the other representatives!

Ooooh and the flowers on the Lace wristlet and the Herb pouch DO match really perfectly with the Sapling Speaker!! I see what you did there!! I think my only problem with this is the Leafy Glades… It’s just so big and puffy, which is the problem I have working with it I’d love it if they did a more subtle version for the next festival or something!

 Okay, I’m super bias because I HATE Orange. HATE IT! HATE, HATE, HATE! IT’S THE CHIA OF THE COLOUR WORLD!

I do like how you’ve used White/Obsidian instead of the orange/yellows you normally see! And love me some use of the Clawtips! I don’t see those as often as I wish I would!

The blue will forever annoy me, I hate that there’s blue in the Solar stuff, but it does add some variation to the piece which is nice! Overall, I like this! It’s cluttered but with the whole fire/lava thing going on, it really makes sense! The whole thing reminds me of flowing lava or like… a …. Foundry? Is that the word? Well, I guess that matches perfectly with the Molten Marauder!

I feel like I’m just repeating myself a bunch here, I’m sorry!

Sol

Ooooh yes, good! YES! The Obsidian/Gold thing is freaking AMAZING!

Fun fact though, at first I thought the solar blade behind her head was actually her head! I forgot how Wildclaws work and was like “Where are her eyes!?”. I thought she was bending her head down and wearing like a black feather headpiece or something. Anyway, I realised what a fool I am pretty quickly!

I really love this customisation! I especially love how discrete the Brutal Banner is underneath the Solar Blades and against the Obsidian! You’ve really matched the yellows and golds well! The only thing that shits me is the gold in Sunbeam Soldier is slightly different to the gold in the solar blades BUT THAT IS UNAVOIDABLE! Sol is freaking awesome and I love the name!!!

Astral

But seriously, very cluttered, but overall very, very cute! The golds give her this sense of royalty but the Arcane elements of course give her the mystic feel! Again you’ve matched the purples nd pinks really nicely with the Stardust Scholar!!! <3

Mmmmmm yes. Good… mmmm this is so perfect! The accent is so freaking perfect with the blues in the Skink! Hnnng, yes! I love that the accent covers most of the Violet as well, because the violet could have totally ruined the whole ensemble… but the little peeks where the wings fold over is absolute perfection!

THIS IS SO NICE BUT WHY DID YOU USE THE NATURE (I think?) EYES AND MAKE HIM SO PISSED OFF? WHY WOULD HE BE PISSED, HE LOOKS AMAZING!!!

THIS IS SO FREAKING NICE!! I know he’s not properly gened yet, but holy heck, you’re really good at matching Skink highlights!! The Jade looks fantastic even without the Peregrine, but dayum, he’s going to look a-may-zing!!!! Sabori is so fantastic, I love him! This custom is absolutely PERFECT!!! <3 <3 <3

Mmmmm yes, this is perfection!!!! I know she’s going to be a gened Bogsneak, but she looks great as a Tundra!! I loooooove the Magic Cards against the Seafoam, and it’s going to look hecking AMAZING with the Glimmer! My only issue with this is the Pale Roundhorn, but I’m not a huge fan of how they look on Tundras so it will probably look hecking gorgeous on her as a Bog!!

Let’s all appreciate how INTELLIGENTLY  ‘What’s the use of feeling blue’ is crafted as a sequence

- derived from the Diamond lifemotif & therefore recontextualizes it; Especially clever as it was worked into the creepy ending theme leading up to this. 

It adds a bit of a dark funerary quality to the previous moments it showed up in. 

- It is worth noting that the diamond theme was deliberately designed to be alian and non-musical, so they esentially set a challenge for themselves

- And the song actually stays very faithful to the creepy jingly ambient sounds, though they somehow craft them into a melody and lets YD’s va do the rest as she conveniently has a very strong dramatic voice. 

- subverts the expectation of a villain song while still fulfilling all of it's functions both musically and narratively - low notes, contralto, minions singing backup, swingy sort of melody, expositioning the antagonists and setting both the physical and ideological/thematic confrontation... (They represent, or are the leaders of a society where everyone - even the local God-empresses! - has to shut out your feelings to ‘function’, which is the logical opposite/antithesis/anathema to Steven) but at the same time it’s not a bragadocious declaration but a look beneath the queenly masks/ into their private lives, though they’re not quite ‘out shopping’ as this does inform why/how they act in their day jobs as evil overlords. As usual SU distinguishes itself by clever use & tweaking of the tools

- electro meets jazz, which is in itself creative, though if you wanted you could probably read further things into that. The Diamonds are basically electro outside, Jazz inside. It’s also a further pun (eve heard of ‘blue notes’?)

- Conveys both character, style/aesthetic and other information with astounding density basically. 

 - As cool as the music is lets not forget the roles the visuals play -  Their surroundings are quite ‘emphatic’ in the ways all that pink light drowns out their color palettes like a domineering shadow, how Yellow Diamond keeps moving around the bubbles for emphasis, and last bt not least the use of body language to establish both their individual characters and their relationship. BD is relatively static & phlegmatic and waterlike in her motions, sort of recoiling away from both YD and her responsibilities at the beginning, and hugging that pillar for comfort. YD, by contrast, does plenty 

Both have a distinct aristocratic tinge in words and gestures though BD goes more in the ethereal/mystically direction while Yellow is a lot more abrupt and stiff there (including when she’s briefly overwhelmed and ends up as the comfortee)

This scene would flat out not work if not for the very unambiguous comforting/ sister-like body language at work there, how the bond is conferred through both word choice (’we still love her’) and physical touch/ gestures.

Particular mention to that one shot where we see them holding hands with both their gemstones shown in the background (and their similar placement highlighted), more or less at the exact point when we realize that they’re both equally affected despite their somewhat different reactions. 

- Speaking of the environment though: Éven if they’re having this very private, very un-pharaonic moment, they don’t allow us to foget that they’re villains - most of those Rose Quartzes were probably innocent, the “silly quirk” they’re discussing involves keeping sentient/intelligent beings as pets, and we keep seeing how much Ruby and Saphire are still terrified of BD; Also, Greg’s and Steven’s escape attempts lampshades their titanic sizes. Not to mention that they go right back to cold bitch mode/’command voice’ when the door opens and their underlings show up. They also showing off their fancy singing slaves. 

The ‘props’ are as creepy as if they were sitting in a cavern lined with human skulls and bones, but in a clever sci-fi way that makes it even more insidious.

- Though it is also worth noting that it’s greg and steven - almost complete outsiders! - who get to see this scene, rather than their former subjects such as Peridot, Garnet or Pearl. If they did see they’d hardly be compassionate with their former overlords, (not could they in any way be expected to be) but thing are different for Steven who’s probably able to have a wider perspective on this and recognize that they’re still people, even if they are evil overlords.

I regret playing Pokemon Sun/Moon

NOW NOW, before you start replying with a angry message or w/e, hear me out. So, I've played through the entire game, caught all the Pokemon I could and beat the Elite 4. Why would I have a problem with this game specifically? Well, to boil it down to simple terms it's... Mainly because they changed too many of the better aspects they fixed in the other recent games. 1. They changed the nice lower screen system that had literallly everything at your hands. Like, why would they remove that? It just makes it more difficult to fight/trade with other players. 2. FU-CKING Z CRYSTALS. Sure, their moves look cool, buuut they're basically overpowered move sets. Also, you don't make Pokemon a challenge to beat by buffing them, it just makes it a trivial task to beat them. Also with no skill just... Luck I guess. 3. WHY DID THEY TAKE AWAY THE GYMS??? Sure, it's interesting to have something "Different", but Gyms were the best part about the games. They helped you get stronger so you can face stronger trainers. So, by taking away the gyms they give you a shitty 3 battle system to fight against. And no, it's not harder, again it's super trivial. 4. WHY WOUD YOU THROW THE ELITE 4 INTO A GAME WHERE YOU WANT IT TO BE DIFFERENT THAN THE OTHER LINES OF GAMES BEFORE IT??? Yeah yeah, it can't be a Pokemon game without the Elite 4, but come ooon dude. Why the fuck would you make the Elite 4 75% of people you've fought already AND THEN MAKE THE LAST PERSON SOMEONE YOU HAVE NEVER MET BEFORE??? THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. ALSO, WHY WOULD THEY HAVE THE ELITE 4 PERIOD???? THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE DIFFERENT, YET THEY FOLLOW SUIT BECAUSE ONE ASS HOLE SAID "ye elite 4, i want that shit" 5. WHAT. THE. FUCK WAS WITH LILLIE'S MOM BEING A BOSS AND DID NOTHING?? I'm actually sorry about being mad over this, but come on. She literally did nothing but use her regular pokemon, WHEN SHE HAD BITCHED THE ENTIRE GAME ABOUT WANTING CONTROL OVER THE ULTRA BEASTS. WHY DIDN'T SHE USE THEM WHEN APARENTLY THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS IN ANOTHER WORLD???? WHY DID SHE FUSE WITH ONE OF THEM??????? WHY WOULD SHE JUST BE FINE AFTER UNFUSING WITH ONE OF THOSE JELLY FISH????? WHY THE FUCK WOULD HER DAUGHT JUST FORGIVE HER INSTANTLY AFTER 7 SOMETHING YEARS OF ABUSE???????????? Ugh sorry, again that nonsense made me so angry. 6. The legendaries on the covers look cool, but the lion sucks donkey dick and the bat is semi alright. Still a bit trashy tho. 7. Character designs are fine, and I loved Hau/Lillie. BUT HOLY SHIT, this game might have one of the worst Pokemon designs in the series. I found like 3 Pokemon I actually liked. A MAJORITY OF THEM LOOKED LIKE DEVIANT ART FAN DRAWINGS OF POKEMON. NO JOKE. THEY WERE TERRIBLE. 8. Also, this more of my opinion more than anything but... Why does it seem they completely removed the Mega ring shit from the game???? Literally, I tried looking around but I found nothing in the game to do with mega evolutions. Not even mega stones. It's just sad since all Z Crystals are is flashy moves. That usually do waaaay too much overkill. 9. Now, the last point I gotta make about this semi terrible game has to do with Team Skull. OOOOHHHH BOY, Team Skull. They are probably one of the worst teams, if it wasn't for their designs. Like, I could accept that they're dumb for being another team in the series, sure. But the entire game I fought them I had no idea what they wanted? They just stole Pokemon and... I guess Guzma was being influenced by Ether organization. Other than that they were just punkish dumb kids graffiting everything for no reason other than to be "Bad". Which is dissapointing, since in Omega Ruby and Alpha Saphire the two teams had goals while making them crystal clear. Team Magma wanted Groudon to expand the mass on the world while Team Aqua wanted Kyoger to raise water levels. Just saying, Team Skull was just around. That's it. They took over a town and that was it. UGH. But yeah, that's my view on the game. If I wanted to score it I'd give it a 3.2/5, only because they didn't change the catching system or the main focus of the game. Other than that it sucks a big donkey dick for the plot and a list of shit it ruined.
