Me: you know what sounds like a nice way to unwind before bed? Playing the cat-befriending-robots game, it's so sweet and relaxing. Yeah, there are sometimes swarms of scary bugs that try to eat me but so far there haven't been too many of them, I can deal with it

Stray: SEWER CHAPTER COMMENCE

Me, an hour later: how the fuck did this poor kitty wind up in a Dead Space level

#stray game #stray game critical #my post #I already wasn't fond of the zurks and the mandatory zurk chases #I really do not like seeing animals hurt #(yes I have the 'show cat death' setting turned off- that doesn't stop me from knowing that the cat died)#but I was willing to accept the zurks because having to run away from dangerous predators is a pretty common cat experience #Ever since I got the make-the-predators-ass-SPLODE ray gun though #it feels like the game switched genres on me #the change is so jarring I have to wonder if it wasn't an executive mandate or something #'the game has enemies therefore there must be a way for players to defeat those enemies'#the rest of the game is so committed to having the cat interact with the world in realistic cat-like ways #popping mutant bugs like balloons with a ray gun clashes HARD with that #I sincerely hope things return to normal-ish once I'm out of the sewers #otherwise I might not be able to finish this #what I wouldn't give for a mod or setting that makes me immortal #or better yet lets me skip the sewers altogether
