The head butting that would undoubtedly occur between the Cid, Barret, and Reeve trio combo is a given, but putting these three together is a deadly combination because they all have/end up having the qualities of someone that would be challenging to mess with. Innovators, dreamers, geniuses, leaders, and with their age they already have bounds of experience under their belt to boot.

( doubt doubt doubt | @inavagrant )
“I’m not here to stir trouble. Be at ease haha,” he holds his hands up like he’s a hopeless case. “I am merely here to make sure that our dearest brethren from the city of wind are okay. Since I have heard the traveler frequents here,” he rests his hand over his chest, “I would tread carefully around them if I were you.” He warns. “Especially with all the lying they do. Be guarded.” Though his last attempt ended up being a complete and total failure, there will always be a next time. “They’re a good liar.” (I am here to place seeds of doubt awraxa).
INSTINCT BROUGHT HER bow to her hand, an arrow nocked & ready, only to falter immediately upon seeing who it was. despite the fact that she couldn’t hit him unarmed on her own honor, a skirmish with a harbinger would set back much of the work jean had been doing to avoid & work around the pressure set upon her by the fatui, & so she lowered her bow ( though she kept it at the ready, with the number of skirmisher sightings on the rise, she couldn’t take any chances ).
SHE ONLY LISTENED out of duty. face neutral, stance ready but open, just the way she had once been taught to do in the presence of the snezhnayan diplomats. keeping herself controlled & yet visibly interested had once been her greatest challenge, but now it was so easy to slip into the expression that it may as well have been second nature.
THAT WAS WHY she knew she should have been ashamed at how quickly it crumbled.
SURPRISE WAS ON her face in an instant, amber’s previous concerns of a fight suddenly forgotten about at his mention of aether ( he had mentioned his bouts with the fatui in passing conversation, but she hadn’t known that he had been acquainted with any harbingers, perhaps another story that he had been yet to tell ).
❝ a liar? ❞
IT WASN’T A word she associated with him at all. she shouldn’t have been listening, she should have simply thanked him & turned away with the intent to forget about his words the moment he was out of sight. & yet, there was a nervousness she couldn’t shake, a concern that perhaps he was right & she was the one who was wrong. that perhaps the wish she’d made, the wish that aether had found it in himself to grant for her, would be tossed aside.
THAT SHE’D BE left behind, again.
( THE SMILE IN his voice when he promised to take her to líyuè rang so clearly in her hears–––– was it really all a lie? )
❝ thanks for the concern, but i think we’ve got it handled! ❞
HOPEFULLY THERE WAS no trace of the sudden doubt in her tone. she didn’t want him to know that she had gotten to her, that he had found her just after a promise had been made, one that was still so fresh that it was particularly vulnerable to her doubt.
❝ he’s been nothing but helpful to us! trust me. our acting grand master wouldn’t have made him an honorary knight if she wasn’t sure of his character. ❞
THE WORDS FELT odd on her tongue. she wanted to press, to ask him just what kind of lies he had received, but that was only falling down the rabbit hole, & she knew better than that.
❝ he wouldn’t lie to us. ❞
AT LEAST, SHE thought she did.
