In his world things are much brutal at the trolls tree, as in tge bergebs dont have a trollstice, they eat trolls whebecer they wish at any quantity they wish so its mjch more dangerous

That led to trolls greying mkre than the usual, but tha led to a discovery

You see grey trolls dont bring happiness when eaten which leads to bergens not wanting them, and JD managed to discover that via observing how bergens just never pick the grey ones

So he, tge eldest of his brothers and the one tasked of protecting them ever since grandma got eaten, came up with a plan, its not a pretty plan but its a plan, and it will garantee the lives of his brothers

He became a dick

The biggest asshole to his brothers, I'd go as far as saying he's abusive to them

He needed to, he had to, he needed to make them grey, no matter what, he needed to keep them alive

And it does work, his bros go grey, but whatever bond they had is severed, they hate his guts, and they all turned out bitter and full of resentment

They resent him

But you know what? Who cares right? As long as it kees his brothers off of a bergen's menue then he certainly doesn't

See the thing is that for the good of the world Hohenheim leaving was objectively the good choice (in my opinion). He was at a crossroads between ‘get the fuck out of dodge’ and ‘try and stop the dwarf in the flask’ and, having wife and kids, he decided on the later.

Lorcan Kan's Things Palace at Flawd yesterday. A chef I've been friendly with for several years, back when I was buying jars of sambal and chilli oil from him during the pandemic.

Raw dexter beef rump with wild garlic sambal, grilled scallions and wheat berries. Such incredible use of spice and texture.

Pea dip (a bit like a split pea houmous) with pine cone jam and sourdough.

Gem lettuce and nashi pear with egg curry salad cream and dill.

The first time Leonardo shapeshifted back to his turtle form was unexpected

Splinter had been cleaning up when he picked up his son's framed photograph to wipe the glass

But then he stared at it as his heart squeezed, he sat on the floor staring at it, feeling nostalgic about simpler times, before the incident, before his son's started going topside, where they were all safe under his embrace as he attempted to shield them from the horrors of the world

His shield wasn't strong, it was flawd, and too cracked for any true protection, it took him until it broke to realise that

He was pulled out of his thoughts when he felt hot breaths running down his neck

His son, leo, was lookin at the photograph curiously as his father held it in a tight grip, one of the last remaining proofs that his son wasn't a snake since the beginning, he loosens his grip on it realising how much pressure he was applying as he turned to face his serpent son

He chuckled as he realised how much his son was focusing on the picture, very curious and confused

"you curious about this?" splinter asked handing the photograph to leo as leo gripped it, gentle, he was afraid that his snake hands teeth would shatter the glass

Splinter stares fondly at leo as his son starts turning his head in confusion and tilting the picture with him

His son wasn't fully back yet to his dismay, but they were making progress, slow progress, but any progress is good progress

As for leo, he grew frustrated, the person in the picture, they looked just like the three kind green people

But he wasn't red, he wasn't purple nor orange, he was blue...

He doesn't recall a blue kind green person

There was the rat, orange, purple and red, there was the two small fragile kind people too

But not blue, there was never blue

The rat kind person seemed to notice his frustration, and put a gentle warm hand on him to grab his attention

"Blueeee..." he hissed

The rat's ears perked up

"yeah blue, just like you" he said

Leo's head snapped in his direction and tilted his head in confusion

"this my son" the rat said grabbing the photograph from his hands as he stared at it before turning it to face leo, "is you... "

The serpent looked at the pic for a while staring at the blue green person and his reflection on the glass, the blue green person was... Him...

"or what you used to look like, at least.." the rat's ears fall flat on his head, a sign that means sadness he had learned

Leo didn't want that

The kind rat person was the kindest of all, he doesn't want him to be sad because of him!

He seemed calm when he was lookin at the picture before he came in

Maybe he can make him happy again if he, if he...

Leo drew his hand towards the photograph silently asking for it back, the rat understood the memo and handed it to him

Leo grabbed it, more gently than before and looked at it one last time before tucking close to his chest

And he closed his eyes

He hears the rat kind person gasp quietly as leo started to feel himself shrink bit by bit, the snakes on his hands aren't there replaced by fingers, tail replaced by two legs, and everything in him was changing

When he opened his eyes again he grabbed the photograph examining it and checking himself in the reflection of the glass, his face was a match to the one in the picture

He perked at that and turned the pic to face the rat kind person and held it near his head smiling widely

He had did it, he can make the rat kind person happy again!

But he was met by a shocked face as splinter was looking him up and down

He examined his son, who was no longer a serpent, he looked like a fresh copy of what he used to look like

Everything was the same, and splinter felt hope drowning him

But it all drained away as he locked eyes with Leonardo

Hollow confused white eyes

His son

He was back, looked like he was back, but his eyes tell another story

That resulted in tears welling up in his eyes as leo stared back at him, tilting his head in confusion

Splinter reaches out to him, cupping his face as his son leaned to the touch and slowly gave him a long big embrace

His son wasn't back yet, but he can pretend just for now

He's sure that this is progress, slow progress, but any progress is good progress

i will never shut up about this

pls this is adorable in a really bittersweet way. like how leo's So Proud of himself and he's all like "look! look what i did!"

even if he doesn't remember splinter, he wants to make him happy :[

he doesn't realise how huge this is for splinter, and similarly, the rest of his family. it's just another thing about them that he has yet to understand, like why they always play a certain cartoon when he's around, and why they show him books and books filled to the brim with baby pictures of what he presumes are them as children - yet there is a fourth that is lost to him, because he senses no fourth among them now.

it doesnt quite click when splinter tells him the teenager in the photograph is him when he clearly is not, but he can look like him though! and maybe he can give this rat a piece of his lost child, even if he can never truly be that.

he's just a snake after all, and not this leonardo they speak of.

AND-

FUCK OFF WITH THAT, THAT BROKE MY HEART IN SEVEN DIFFERENT WAYS. HE JUST WANTS TO BE A GOOD DAD TO THEM UEUEUE

Smells like that anon is a Kanade apologist to me.

Listen, I love Kanade, she's my f/o. But I f/o her sweet, shy version that sometimes snaps, without the crazy shit. And as a character, she has done so much fucked up shit I can't even grasp all of it.

She's a psycho, and sometimes we love those types of characters. Himiko Toga is a good example of it. She's a psycho, and everyone loves her (I'm not caught up with the manga and the anime since I'm at s5 rn so idk if her character expands further than that-). But the whole incesty wincesty she had going on, it didn't need to be added.

Not only that, she's like, way too smart, like the creator giving her the answer directly, like you mentioned in one of the asks.

Kanade is a flawd character, no perfect characters exist. I hope this anon leave you alone, cause they seem like a hardcore Kanade apologist and fan, and they should go touch some grass.

Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall

Another case of a book that I couldn't put down once I picked it up.

It's fun, it's witty, it's touching and it has one of my favorite tropes, the Fake Dating to Lovers, both characters are deeply flawded and they complement each other very well; the story is so well written and has such fun dinamics between their main and side characters and touching moments that will stay with you for a long time.

As soon as I was done reading it I wanted to read it all over again, and when I found out there was sequel coming out in August I couldn't be happier!

If you're a fan of romantic comedy and queer books, this is a must read.
