The success of Fo:E baffles me so much, in such a good way. It's a crossover fanfic, which is already a handicap, of two things that don't really seem to go together. It's over 620K words. 90% of the characters are OCs, including all the main characters. It's written in first person. It's explicit and adult but has no smut. If it was written now, I doubt people would read it. And yet it's overwhelmingly popular to the point that this fanfic has a fandom of its own, majorly separate from both of the original fandoms. I know people who aren't into MLP and love Fo:E. I know people who aren't into Fallout and love Fo:E. people love that fic. it has its own wikipedia page. there are several majorly popular fanfics of that fanfic. It has defied all odds and all logic in what becomes popular in fandom spaces and im so insane about it. fallout equestria gives me hope.

So, these are my OCs! From left to right, they're Meadow Merlin, Burn Barrage, Orchid Drupe, and Skeebo. We got a ghoulified horse, a pegasus, a kirin, and a borzoi hellhound :D

I just finished reading Fallout: Equestria for the first time. Two things:

The writing was so good! I only started reading because a video about it came up on my youtube recommended feed, but I was pretty immediately hooked. I didn't know basically anything about Fallout, but I was so easily introduced to the setting and the kind of things that make it what it is. And the themes and tech and visual stylings of Fallout were so well-integrated with the literary themes and setting of My Little Pony. In an interview with the author, they said that the reason they wrote Fallout: Equestria was to wrap up everything they liked about MLP in Fallout themes to show to their friends in the Fallout fandom, and they did that really well! They put the main lessons of MLP to an acid test, examined where they might slip and how, and how they remain and influence a world that thinks it's forgotten.

A better worded post will follow at some point, but I needed some way to express how I felt other than stimming and maybe screaming.
