I’ve been playing Roots of Pacha lately, and it’s a really nice take on the farming/life sim genre, but I have one minor gripe with it so far and it’s that the cave lion cubs never grow up...

I know they’re trying to imitate a house cat but it just bothers me that all other baby animals grow up EXCEPT the cave lion cub.

At that point you may as well just have a small cat variety.

Idk, I was hoping to have a massive cave lion as a pet but I was sorely disappointed v.v

Also it would be really cool if the cave lion/ wolf could bring you meat occasionally, bc as it is it’s really annoying that you can only get it through the village butcher and it’s expensive... it makes me not want to cook. But if we got it rarely from animals, it would give me more incentive to make all the dishes.

Just a thought.

i designed a dungeon based off my viera's lore this week!

the gear is inspired by inuit coats/furs, as well as the paglth'an and qitana ravel gear sets. my inspiration comes from how i always assumed the ffxiv viera were based on indigenous people, but the starter clothes don't fit, especially for veena. my fictional snowy mountain forest, Frer, is located east of Garlemald so it's quite cold there and the lingerie viera start with 🙄 would not cut it.

Labrys is modeling the gear (since she's big), with head pieces separated so Howlen can model them (originally they were all going to be bones/warpaint for Frer's lore reasons, but my samurai friend wanted a hood).

as far as the enemies go, 'geotek' is the term used for the repurposed magitek scraps the veena here use to make turrets that enhance their spells. Isiq and Makpiq are inuktitut words (not names) i thought fit the bosses. according to the dictionary i sourced, Isiq means "smoke from fire" and Makpiq is "turn back/away." hopefully thats correct and i read the dictionary right (was very cluttered and i am so dyslexic).

anyway, i still have a lot more cultural lore to design for Frer but designing a dungeon to show off their traditional clothes and creations was really fun in general. theres more details on this dungeon like why i did what i did, fight layouts, and clothing concept art i referenced but since this is tumblr im not posting that essay here.

#ffxiv #oc;labrys eater #oc;howlen eye #viera #roegadyn #femroe #final fantasy xiv #okay so we can start with labrys eater. her real name is byrtedza she uses the translated version bc her mother #is a hellsguard and also people be butchering sea wolf names. at the age of 15 a sahagin attempted to temper her #with the rage of leviathan. however hydaelyn was like 'hey thats mine' so the tempering backfired and fucked her up #she now has the rage of the primal but like. isnt controlled by it or anybody shes just mad a lot and wants this curse gone #so she goes to gridania ten years later hoping one of the conjurers can fix her #but while shes attempting to get them to help gridania does gridania and is racist and assumes shes aboutta be violent #and they attempt to arrest her only for 'yda' to help her since like. lab literally was doing nothing wrong atm. she will later #(with her curse she has bitten throats out and the like and i like to joke she wouldve eaten the police before going to jail)#now for my son. howlen's last name is frer after to nation he is from (howlen frer). he uh #the garleans attacked his forest with aid of a certain prince and howlen got kidnapped after his brother was killed in front of him #he saw in his echo that his lover was blown apart by magitek. and as hes being dragged away he sees a friend be beheaded #so anyway thats part of why he is so shaky and scared he has ptsd out the wazoo #he ends up a prisoner of war. hence why he as been to prison without ever doing anything wrong ever #some more horrible things happen to him when hes transferred to a different facility to which the special prince gets mad #and removes him from that area and kills his abusers that were there. he instead elects to take howlen to ala mhigo #howlen is terrified of him for justified reasons and while he is not being tortured anymore uh #the 'training' is still horrifying to him because THAT motherfucker is the one training him.#howlen is literally a pow for four years and during this time was refered to as howlen aan frer.#he is turned loose by zenos after he attempted to kill him and sent to limsa on a ship #here he meets broenbhar who asks his name and howlen stutters saying aan because he realizes he shouldnt. say that anymore #(hes kinda more of a viator now tbh) but broenbhar mishears it as eye. so now hes howlen eye #labrys is my angry lesbian self insert and howlen is full of trauma
