FTL: My whole purpose (beyond solving the Great Problem, of course) was for genetic experimentation. I am merely doing my job. If I enjoy said job, well then that is just a bonus.

FTL: All creatures are modified. Modifying them further is not going to change that much.

FTL: The Rot is simply a hazard that I must face, whether I deserve it or not is irrelevant.

FTL: And if this time is the time that the Rot gets me? Then I do deserve it, for not being able to handle it. The creatures will be fine, they'll wake back up again. They'll adapt.
