I feel so much gratitude for my life and person I am. Whitney is staying with me while Corey and Sarah are in Seattle. I love Whitney. She’s so fun and such good energy. She’s working as a recruiting coordinator — something I really considered as a corporate position — and I can see from her work that I have chosen the right path for myself. I am so happy outside of corporate life. I think I can see this in how the areas outside of my work life are all thriving. Whitney was telling me how she is struggling balancing a full-time job with her adult responsibilities. It struck me that I don’t struggle with that — at all. Likely because I do not feel drained by my work.

Last night, I went to San Jose to watch “The Bachelor” as I do on Monday nights. I went to the bathroom in the master and I resisted the urge to weigh myself on the scale that has recorded my weight — highs and lows — for the past year. 

Oddly, even though I want to get thinner, I don’t want to make it about numbers. I don’t want to obsess over the scale. I hate that weight means so much to me and so little to everyone else. By no means do I wish others cared about weight more — I’mm glad the important people in my life don’t care about it. I just wish they understood what it feels like to obsess over it. 

I am so aware of all the fat on my body: my calves, my stomach, my arms, my chin. I notice it with every movement. What I need is a health balance: to eat all kinds of food and to exercise 2-3 times a week.

I’ve never been good at balance.

I’ve been thinking more about study abroad and what it means to not apply. I’m saving myself from intense homesickness — for what?

Indecision will be the death of me. All I know is that I don’t know.

Not going would uncomplicated my plans for the future. I’ve never liked complicated.

Tonight, I’ll be working long and late for a reception at work, It’ll be good to be on my feet and out of my head. All that’s left is to be grateful:

1. I am grateful for my feet that still work to carry me place to place.

2. I am grateful for my nose for giving my face at least one promising feature.

3. I am grateful for my heart — for staying healthy with my mind.

All will be well.
