listen, I'll speak my truth
all the 'colin is meant to give you the ick in the first episode' and 'he's not supposed to be likeable' crowd and I genuinely think the 'ick' came from people only wanting Colin to be flirty with Pen and so the fact that he entertained anyone else was what made people unhappy about it. but I cannot relate. yes, he's not being fully himself, yes he's putting on a persona, but you know what? that persona was still attractive! *I* liked him!!! *I* was that debutante taking her glove off with her teeth giggling and twirling my hair. I do not careeeeee. I was salivating over the first brothel scene. Shit was hot. You can all fight me.

Davos once caught Aeron helping a stable boy with the horses at some random inn they were all staying at and got so jealous he later set all the horses free. The place was scrambling with riders trying to corral their steeds (and with the occasional Blackwood/Bracken scuffle breaking out). Davos took advantage of the distraction and hauled Aeron away from the chaos and back to his rooms :)

Artists who admit to not knowing small details about their characters and worldbuilding have inadvertently given better advice than any character design post on social media tbh. as fun as it is to come up with what your guys would order from a restaurant or the contents of their backpack or their favorite color I've run into very few people who can leave that stuff in a story (or even leave it offscreen as paratext) without it being distracting and poorly written because it's rarely in service of the narrative. a lot of that is def just down to personal taste, but it feels more like designing characters for a TTRPG

One small pet peeve of mine, but I see it popping up often, is the notion that the gerudos are a patriarchy because once in a blue moon a boy is born and is crowned king about it (at least in OoT lore). And that's... not how structural gendered power works, at least as far as I understand it? Otherwise countries all over the world would magically turn into a matriarchy if they elected a woman/the second they would crown a queen; and every little children would suddenly be taught completely different stories about their social roles and their bodies, and all religions would suddenly shift a little in the core tenents of their philosophies, and infrastructure and laws would magically be reshuffled, and, and... and it simply doesn't happen.
So yeah, Ganondorf grew up as king because the idea of kinghood was thought out, upheld and passed down by women, and specifically by his mothers. Ultimately, any real power rests in the cultural consciousness of a majority of women, which shapes all of them, including him. If they had culturally decided their only boy's fate was to be shunned, or a living coat hanger, and Ganondorf was raised on these ideas instead... I mean, he could have revolted, and he probably would have, but he would have still been a subject to a matriarchal ideology. Just because said matriarchal ideology works to his advantage doesn't mean he has control over it.

"Let's Get to It" is the fourth studio album by Kylie Minogue and it was the final studio album with Pete Waterman Limited (PWL), being released by the record label in the United Kingdom on 14 October 1991. After Matt Aitken left the trio Stock Aitken Waterman (SAW) in early 1991, the remaining producers wanted to make another album with Kylie, although it was not a contractual obligation for her. Mike Stock and Peter Waterman agreed to share their songwriting credits with Kylie Minogue for the first time on six tracks. They spent months recording at PWL Studios, more time than any of her previous studio albums.
Musically, Let's Get to It varies in sound, with it including hip hop, new jack swing, house, and dance-pop genres. Music critics provided mixed reviews, recognising Kylie Minogue's creative control and her provocative image despite them being ambivalent towards the production.
Four singles were released from "Let's get to it", including UK top 10 entries: "If You Were with Me Now" and "Give Me Just a Little more Time". The other singles: "Word is Out" and "Finer Feelings" attained top 20 positions in the UK.
Kylie Minogue further promoted the album with her "Let's Get to It Tour", which traveled throughout Europe in October and November 1991. The album was re-issued in the UK for the first time in 2015.

I wish I'd had a chance to take over the driving
You'd swear to keep me up, then fall asleep beside me
And nothing, no terrible dream could ever wake us
I don't wanna wake up
~☆•°♡°•☆~
And then, one good day when we live in the same city
I'll come by and tell you that you look insanely pretty
Like something, don't know what it'd be
But you'd say nothing, like something and smile at me

It's really interesting that Wynne actually has quite a measured, bordering on downright sympathetic response to hearing what Jowan did in the prologue -- if the mage Warden says "I still can't believe Jowan was that stupid", her answer is something like a thoughtful "Stupid, or desperate, or merely curious?". She seems to think of Jowan as a kid who got in over his head, rather than any less charitable interpretation. I do believe she genuinely is as against blood magic as she publicly expresses and as the Circle party line demands, but as a private person she clearly has a more nuanced and potentially kinder understanding of the reasons why someone might resort to it, at the very least.
(related: when she says that part about Irving telling her what happened, there's no dialogue option in the first stage of the conversation (except choosing the 'leaving the conversation' one) that doesn't net you +2 approval! no matter how the warden feels about it, she is ready to recieve it. I think that says something sweet about how Wynne conceptualizes younger mages and the honest real affection she has for them. if you didn't snitch on jowan and say you stand by that decision, though? +3 approval, apparently! what Wynne says and what Wynne thinks is not always the same thing indeed, her idea of where personal loyalty and integrity stands vis-a-vis a mage's responsibility to the circle may be more flexible than she'd have people believe, you'll be surprised to learn lol)
I have always liked wynne and found her interesting, in all her hypocrisies and her earnest care, but with slightly older eyes she's extra fascinating to me in the same ways that Iron Bull is -- seeing someone whose mind has had hollows carved out in it by the need for double-think and compartmentalization imposed by the oppressive systems and ideologies they live under, and the quiet fight of the self to still preserve vital parts of itself that the system deems unacceptable in the hidden backstage areas of the soul, as it were. (and for both of them part of that self is love and protectiveness of specific other people, beyond what their 'role' dictates is acceptable for them.) I think Wynne has managed to sneak more of her internal self through the meatgrinder relatively intact than Bull overall, but it's the same logic underlying it, for me, and it makes me feel such intense affection and compassion for them both to see how hard they try
#dragon age#dragon age origins#wynne#iron bull#my warden and wynne actually has quite similar feelings and views about the circle at the end of the day so it's really interesting#conflicted love is one hell of a tradition to pass down and boy do they do that lmao look the circle really is a family!#it has intricacies of intergenerational trauma being inherited and everything#I think sophia reaches the 'ok. alright. I'm going to stop being polite pretend centrist about this' stages earlier#but her being more open about it is mostly about her being uniquely protected by her role in the wardens#(and being the king's if-not-for-the-laws-of-this-land-and-the-finer-points-of-political-marriage wife lmao)#and knows it; she has less to be responsible for in the circle itself now. I think she and wynne Understand each other by then#asunder is a book of. many parts! let's say lol but wynne's characterization in it is so good#she was about to go absolutely nutso mode after stuff started to go south and I love that for her#her gloves have been on her whole life but oh she is aware of that and would have taken them off and then some in that moment#the older you get the funnier wynne actually being like 50 gets tho. oh no. at death's door. ancient. aged. she has outlived the ages#how the fuck old is irving btw since he's alive and kicking during the ending of asunder (<3 love you dad)#also. yes. yes I am still on my iron bull bullshit I may never truly be off it he makes me so impossibly sad and so insane

Somewhat serious post
I was reading the Memory Alpha for the Kazon and got to the behind the scenes which I try to avoid because I despise it and the the three old white people writing the show talking about "urban" gangs I swear their quotes are one "you people" and "baggy pants" away from being some kind of racist bingo
I want it to be known that's the reason why I always use in show references and not behind the scenes ones because I try to think of the Kazon in a in-universe unique culture perspective when I post analysis type post rather then the "Gangs of the delta quadrant" perspective
