Fortnite - MEGA thoughts.
This season looks rather fun in the gameplay department, lots of new mechanics, hopefully big map changes (the city looks MASSIVE,) and a lot mobility. I won't lie though, I'm very concerned for the story. I hope it is at least passable.
I never thought the Fox Clan or Peace Syndicate would have any real lore significance but here we are. Just kind of, throw in, with little build up. It looks like, based off the trailer, they'll be at conflict with each other.
My trepidation is that it feels totally disjointed from the storyline that just happened. The Oathbound, the knights, THE AGELESS (WHO IS LITERALLY GENO,) and The Rift Gate. It seems the appearance of Mega City is likely due to the rift in the sky, and the two factions are taking hold due to the chaos, but aside from that, what does this have to do with the larger story?
What happened to AMIE? The Seven? The Last Reality? Are they gonna get rid of Stellan? I fucking hope not, he's amazing, one of the best written and voiced characters in Fortnite. It feels so odd to have all this built up and then suddenly be dropped. I'm sure they'll be back at some point, but it just feels so disjointed. I guess it's a lot like Chapter 1, which is what a lot of people want, but I much preferred the storytelling of Chapter 2 and Chapter 3. But to be fair, this is how I felt about Chapter 2 Season 7, and we saw how that turned out, so who knows! This could be peak Fortnite.
We'll just have to wait and see. What do y'all think?

Soo. It's been a while. Figured hey, I haven't done too much art recently— so why not a new combo post for funsies lol.
⌛"I know it's a lot to ask...⏳

Cosmetics used:
🏃‍♂️ Endless Ned (STW Starter Pack #13— Ned the Eternal)
🎒 Antidote (Chapter 2; Season 1 Battle Pass)
⛏️ Steve's Bat (800 V-Bucks)
🪂 Time Brella (Fortnite OG/Chapter 4; Season 5 Victory Umbrella)
🔫 Heartbeat (Reboot-A-Friend #2)
🌟 Check The Map ("Find it in Fortnite" Challenges)
I'm genuinely proud of how this one came out since I've had the preset for ages but it never worked out that well until now. I'm still shocked he not only got a skin, but a full on remix that looks great. Still, fuck this guy and his medkits. Time holes be damned.

If the rumors of Fortnite going back to the Chapter 1 island are true, I'd be fine with it.
I'm a little tired of the Chapter 4 island. This is mainly due to the atrocity that is the jungle biome, and the general lack of named locations that are urban-themed, can be destroyed, and constantly change throughout seasons. MEGA City and Slappy Shores are the only spots I can remember from this Chapter because of how they constantly showed changes and teasers of future updates, i.e. MEGA's billboards, and Slappy getting grind rails in C4S2 and a vault in C4S4. Brutal Bastion gets an honorable mention for being a solid spot to land at all chapter, especially when it had its vault added in C2S2.
I never watched Fortnite gameplay from 2017-2018 so I don't know how things were back then. All I know is that it was mad popular with kids, the UI was different, you couldn't mantle or sprint, and weapon spread was nasty. I really loved the Chapter 3 island's vibes (pun intended) and hope whatever comes next has something similar to the FNBR of 2022, where I started.
...Anyway, I think it's a little nuts to think that I now have a Fortnite tag on my blog. ...And on my furry blog. In my youth, I avoided playing this game because of the fear of being cringe, and because I generally dislike the battle royale genre. Minecraft Survival Games was the sole exception for my anti-battle royale dogma for quite some time until summer 2022 when my friends convinced me to try Fortnite right in the middle of Chapter 3 Season 2. I have only gotten deeper into the rabbit hole since, also getting invested in Save the World. I bought my first battle pass back then and I've spent a shameful amount of money already, but hey. It makes me happy. The world's only getting worse, and Fortnite makes me happy because I can make Itachi do the griddy and that's what counts.
If you're still here, have a song.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3: WILDS.
From knights & castles, to futuristic japan, to the jungle? This season introduced one of the largest biomes in fortnite history. Lots of big things happening this chapter. Speak of, Slone is back!
Tumblr media
The story this time centers around her. Those cracks that appeared back in season 2 caused the island to collapse, revealing an ancient jungle beneath the island this entire time. She somehow gets in contact with Optimus Prime and he tells the us that she alone knows the way forward. Anyways, something big is coming. We don't know what is is. It even has Optimus scared.
Introduced at the summer games fest, this season focused around the wild jungle. grind rails make a return with vines, there are plants you can bounce on and there's mud you can use to get around faster.
As annoying as it was at the start, i've come to like this biome. I still avoid it in solos though. All of the foliage spells trouble. Third parties go crazy in here. Speaking of, this season started out ROUGH. Gone are all of the movement items from MEGA. it's either raptors, cars, or your own two legs. Later into the season, grapple gloves and shockwaves were added. (thank god)
The battle pass was alright. We were introduced to Trace, Lorenzo, Rian and Era. These 4 are my favorites. If there's one thing i'll always be excited for, it's the new character designs. Lorenzo & Era look so mysterious, Trace and Rian just look cool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This season also introduced new weapons. Things like the Flapjack rifle and Mammoth Pistol. The new weapons didn't excite me too much, but they really excited a friend of mine.
Also, this season's big collab was Jujutsu Kaisen. Big step up from star wars. They brought along a bunch of quests, the main four, and Nobara's hairpin technique and Gojo's purple hollow are two powerful abilities that players are able to wield. They're not too broken imo. Strangely balanced right, even for a anime collab mythic.
Tumblr media
This season was ok. I saw a lot of improvement this time around. It's definitely the weakest of chapter 4. But it's alright.

This is the first Victory Royale I've had in a month and a half. I don't want to say this Fortnite season has been "bad" in so many words, because I think the new jungle area is great, but in terms of what they've done with it, it's very... perfunctory. Which has been a lot of this chapter. You'd be hard pressed to wonder if Fortnite's best days are behind it.
In the early days, Fortnite used to have mystery! Intrigue! Then it had story, which was messy and poorly told. Then it got slightly better told, at the cost of demystifying and fleshing out some of its characters in such a way that it started to feel kind of lame. The personality and tone I imprinted on Fortnite's mystery was not what they ended up going with. A common pitfall.
The opening season of this chapter, Chapter 4, served as kind of an epilogue for what had happened in Fortnite up to this point. AMIE, a robot character introduced partway through Chapter 3, needed help to travel the multiverse in search of the heroes we lost in the transition to Chapter 4. In the climax of Season 1 of Chapter 4, she said goodbye to Jonesy, the guy who was literally the face of Fortnite for most of its life, and both of them disappeared.
Keep in mind that, within the story they were conveying, Jonesy didn't go anywhere. Not that they ever told us. He just stopped being in the story. Hasn't been seen or heard from again. And when he left, he apparently took the all of Fortnite's ongoing plot threads with him, because Chapter 4 Season 2 pretty much ignored everything and was about some kind of weird cyberpunk clan war. You had to "unite the clans" by doing some incredibly basic stuff like "hit an antenna with your stick." It wasn't terrible, but it didn't have anything to do with what we'd been dealing with for four years now, and by the end of the season it was clear things were coasting on fumes.
The thing about Fortnite's story is that, love or hate it, it provided secondary gameplay. It took some of the focus away from solely just winning a match and gave you a broader sense of accomplishment. Even if you only managed to finish 20th or something, maybe you got a couple of quests done and leveled up the battle pass. And, once they started doing voiced quests, maybe you got a little bit of somewhat amusing dialog to go with it. It was flavor, even if the flavor wasn't always what you wanted to taste at that particular time.
Now here we are in Chapter 4 Season 3 and things are the thinnest they've maybe ever been. A vast jungle has spread out, taking up close to a third of the entire island. It's full of ancient ruins, and there's just... nothing about it that matters.
Fortnite's story was always ongoing. You received new story quests every week or two, give or take. The map itself was always static, but things would evolve week by week. A story event might see a building get destroyed, and as the season progressed, something would happen to those ruins. Clean up vehicles would spawn around them, and trucks carrying rubble away would appear further and further down the road in every update. Fortnite's island felt alive, like people were living and working there behind the scenes in between matches.
As of this chapter, it's happening less, and less, and less. As seasons got longer, wait times between new story quest branches got longer. Last season things came to a head, with new additions to the story hitting every month and a half. You could often finish the next branch of story quests within an hour of their release, only to be told "Additional quests will be available in 48 days!"
And now, halfway through this season, those sorts of updates have grinded to a standstill. The jungle is our one big geographical update and the rest of the map hasn't been touched. I subscribe to someone on Youtube called PlaystationGrenade because he used to do these great videos breaking down all the fun changes every update, and last season he just outright gave up because there was nothing going on anymore.
There haven't even been any story quests at all this season -- audio logs are scattered around the jungle hinting at something big on the horizon, but they're mainly teasing what is probably going to be the end of Chapter 4 in December or January. It's July.
(There was a time where Fortnite didn't reboot the entire map every single year, and maybe that's contributing to this problem.)
The best we've gotten is a quest category called "Snapshots" which, since the season's launch on June 8th, has contained exactly one single snapshot. There's no plural there.
So it's not that I hate what they've done this season, it just feels like they drop a new biome on us and check out, and it's been a problem that's getting worse over time.
It maybe wouldn't bother me so much if it wasn't for the fact they spent years and years and years building up all this lore, all these characters, all of this story, and then just cut that all off at the knees and dip. I would accept this as the sunsetting of Fortnite, but it feels like there's unfinished business, and I'm sure it's not as though Fortnite is suddenly "out of money", you know? It just feels like they've stopped trying, or at least stopped trying in ways that matter.
Salt in the wound is that, perhaps to make up for how little there is to do this season, it feels like they've really cranked the heat up on their matchmaking algorithm. I'm not one to complain about the perils of "skill based matchmaking" (SBMM) but these last couple seasons have thrown me into the deepest end of the pool where I clearly do not feel comfortable in. All my games are full of people who are miles above my skill level, snap to my face, and melt me in one or two shots. And, without decent quest content or meaningful map evolution to act as a buffer, it's starting to feel real stale playing this game. It really does feel like Epic's top shelf creative talent is focusing their attention somewhere else, and these kinds of scraps is all that's left for Fortnite.
Even if they're just trying to go back to the raw, original Fortnite gameplay of being a Battle Royale first and foremost, to that I say... once you lean so much on story and story quests, that's not a genie you can just put back in the bottle. Especially if their grand ending is "everybody died and the few remaining survivors stopped caring." I didn't love Fortnite's story, but if they've gone this far, they should at least wrap it up.
Of course, it wouldn't be the first time Epic ended something like this on a wet fart, I guess.

Fortnite Thoughts - 9/8/2024
1. The Fall Guys update
Tumblr media
This update isn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be! And it makes actual good use of generative AI, by mixing and matching different premade clothes, hair, etc. and colors to match the skin, to avoid another Item Shop incident. I think the Bean versions of skins are MUCH better looking than the unfinished Lego styles. Not only that, but it got me into the actual Fall Guys.
2. Battle Pass exclusivity ending
Tumblr media
Battle Pass items since Chapter 5 Season 4 are now entitled to return to the Item Shop 18 months after their season ends. This means you would be able to buy the Gwenpool skin in Chapter 7.
This is great! I don't think exclusivity matters, especially when it comes to licensed characters such as ones from Marvel and Star Wars, and a lot of the Fortnite community agrees!
The point of a Battle Pass is that you get early access to these cosmetics for a low cost, when each of the skins would normally be more expensive than the pass itself later on.
3. Fortnite Mobile
Tumblr media
After 4 years, Fortnite is back on mobile! (except iOS outside of Europe.) Throughout Chapter 5 Season 4 (ends November 2, 2024), you will be able to finish quests to earn the Katalina skin and other rewards for free.
However, if you are on iOS outside of Europe, you can play Fortnite through a streaming service such as Xbox Cloud Gaming. Unfortunately, you will not be able to get the free rewards such as Katalina this way.
My Honest Thoughts
As someone who played during Chapter 1 Season 5, Chapter 2 Season 8, and Chapter 3 Season 1 before returning during Season OG in 2023, I think Fortnite is in a better state than ever before, especially with the addition of Festival and Lego.
Tumblr media
And, don't chase me with a pitchfork for this, but I love seeing this key art when I start up the game! I'm still not sick of it, but I hope they change it for Chapter 6.
I have the feeling that Chapter 6 will be to me as Roblox was to me in 2014 when I was 11. Awesome.

I'm so excited for the next Fortnite chapter. There's a lot to look forward to.
1) Greek Mythology Characters
Going off the concept art that's been shown for several Battle Pass skins, they look awesome. There are at least a few I'd play as, and normally I only have one character each chapter, if any that I actually care about. It'll be nice to have them as bosses and get their mythics as well.
2) Midas's Return
I don't know if it'll be on the 8th, or if he'll even be in Battle Royale as an NPC, but he has his own Floor Is Lava game mode arriving soon. The version of him on the recently released Xbox controller will most likely be a skin in the Battle Pass, item shop, or obtainable through quests. As someone obsessed with him, but who didn't play back when he was around, this is what I'm looking forward to most.
3) The Collabs
I don't know what they'll all be, but Avatar: The Last Airbender is getting a pass in April. As far as the Battle Pass, there were rumors about it being Po because of Kung Fu Panda 4. Another idea is Homer Simpson, as a joke about the Homer Odyssey, which would fit the Greek theme. I love this and my vote is for him.
As for the shop, because a titan is coming out of the Earth, Levi and Mikasa from Attack on Titan might return. I'm also really hoping Armin comes to the game since he's my favorite, and I missed out on Eren.
4) New Features
It looks like we're gonna be able to fly on at least one type of creature, probably a griffin. It's something that was teased a couple years ago, and one of the people who work at Epic used the word "wings" to describe this season.
Who knows what other surprises we may get. As someone who only started playing the game less than a year ago and am upset about missing out on so much cool stuff, this is going to make me really happy. Plus players who have been around awhile say Chapter 2 is always the best of each season. I know it sure was in Season 2.

Fortnite Chapter 4, Season 2: MEGA
Or Fortnite MEGA for short. This is the season following up the previous one. Knights and dragons have left the spotlight and we've immediately been thrusted into a neon, cyberpunk japan. This season introduced a lot of stuff looking back. It's almost unrecognizable to 3 months ago. We're first shown MEGA city alongside some of it's inhabitants, through a really flashy and stylish trailer.
The inhabitants of MEGA city are quite colorful. I think this is one of the most out there battle passes I've ever seen. I love all of these characters. Highwire, Renzo, Thunder, Mizuki are up there for me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Especially Imani. I think she is very pretty. She takes the #1 spot for me.
With the hammer gone, a new movement item had to take it's place. meet the kinetic blade. A 3 use epic rarity weapon that allowed you to dash forwards, or do a two step slash that could knock people from high places. The smart pistol also showed up. A pistol that could lock onto somebody and fire at them with guaranteed shots, with the last one being a nasty headshot. The havoc line of weapons also showed up. The havoc pump is a nasty shotgun that was able to one shot (even in zero build!) at mythic rarites. You could get these in the vaults that returned from the event from the previous season. And most busted of them all, was the pulse rifle. At a point during the match, the mythic pulse rifle would spawn. This isn't slone's. This is fires off like a modded GTA weapon. It's easily one of the most broken weapons in this game's history. It was cool when you had it, but it sucked when you didn't. I dont think i'll miss this thing.
Tumblr media
Also, collab items returned. With the ODM gear, spiderverse gloves, grind rails, and the kinetic blade, this really was the season of movement. They're trying to please both zero build and build players here and strike a balance. I really like it and i think they're doing a good job. Zipping around with both of these feel great. I prefer the ODM gear the most. You can even attack with it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A good chunk of the map was redesigned. The entirety of the bottom right was crushed under MEGA city and it's surrounding locations. Kenjutsu Crossing, Steamy Springs, Knotty Nets all took it's place, making the map bigger.
MEGA city lives up to it's name, by being the biggest POI in fortnite history. It makes tilted towers look like a small town. It was designed really well in my opinion, cause the interior of the buildings have like 2/3 floors instead of staircases one could camp in. There were just ziplines making combat a bit easier.
Tumblr media
The story was quite lackluster. Characters like Evie return, as we learn that this is the city she's from. She works under Thunder, the lizard man. He's Evie's boss and even owns a resturant that you can find on the map. Someone's causing trouble amongst the syndicates and its up to you to stop them and unite them. We did. I mean i guess. I hope this leads into something crazier in the future.
I had a lot of fun with this season. Wasn't my favorite, but i enjoyed it even more than the last.

Everything You Need To Know About Fortnite Chapter 4: Season OG
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/everything-you-need-to-know-about-fortnite-chapter-4-season-og/
Everything You Need To Know About Fortnite Chapter 4: Season OG
Tumblr media
Fortnite Chapter 4: Season OG goes live in a few hours once its downtime is complete, and it brings players back to 2018’s Chapter 1 map, with throwback weapons, loot, vehicles, and more, too. While it’s technically Season 5 of Fortnite Chapter 4, which follows the previous Last Resort season, developer Epic Games is calling it Season OG, and it makes sense considering how much of Fortnite 2018 is making an appearance.
The throwback nostalgia continues throughout the season because each new update brings with it a different phase of Fortnite Chapter 1’s past, starting with Season 5. That means weapons like the Assault Rifle and Pump Shotgun, and vehicles like Shopping Carts, will be featured in both Zero Build and regular Battle Royale Fortnite.
Here’s Everything You Need To Know About Fortnite Chapter 4: Season OG
Tumblr media
While each update listed below brings new weapons and more to Season OG, all based on previous Chapter 1 seasons, Epic says some of the unvaulted gear will remain throughout the updates while others will stay for just that update. Below is part of what’s being unvaulted:
Season 5: The Return of Tilted, Greasy, and Risky
Tumblr media
First released during Chapter 1: Season 2, Tilted Towers is a point of interest on the island that will remain until the Season 9 update of Season OG. Alongside Tilted Towers, Epic has added back All Terrain Karts, other vehicles, and some traps from the original Season 5 of Chapter 1. This includes the Assault Rifle, Pump Shotgun, and Hunting Rifles. The Damage Trap, Grappler, and Boogie Bomb are unvaulted now, too, as are the aforementioned ATKs and Shopping Carts.
Season 6: Darkness Rises in Loot Lake
Tumblr media
After the v27.00 update goes live on November 9, players will find that darkness has risen in Loot Lake, bringing with it weapons from Fortnite Chapter 1: Season 6 like the Double Barrel Shotgun, Clinger, and Six Shooter. Plus, the Quadcrasher, Mounted Turret, and more return alongside the Chiller Trap and Port-a-Fortress (note: the Chiller Trap and Port-a-Fortress will not be in Zero Build modes). And finally, the Driftboard makes its way onto this island with this update as well.

Update v27.10 will feature both Chapter 1: Season 7 and Season 8 starting November 16 after it goes live. It brings with it a snow biome, Frosty Flgiths, pirate camps, swashbuckling gear, and more. Weapons include the Flint-Knock Pistol, Minigun, and Quad Launcher. Other items include the Poison Dart Trap, Itemized Glider Redeploy, and Buried Treasure (the Poison Dart Trap will not be in Zero Build, though). On the vehicle front, players can use the X-4 Storming, and if you’re struggling to take it down, try the Pirate Cannon that lets you launch teammates into the air.

Fortnite Chapter 4: Season OG Ranked
As usual with a new season, your rank has been reset in Chapter 4: Season OG. You only need to play one ranked match to have your rank revealed; your performance in your first match does not determine your initial rank placement, but it does reveal your rank and then updates your progress bar based on your performance in that specific match. Epic warns that matchmaking in higher ranks will likely take some time, especially if you were previously in a lower rank.
“With Fortnite OG being a short season, rank progression will be faster at the higher and middle ranks to accommodate,” Epic writes in a press release. “Players will be penalized less for being eliminated early in a match and will have slightly faster increases to their rank progression bar. Additionally, we’ve made progression faster for players in the Bronze ranks, so friends queueing up together across ranks will see more constant progression.”
When you jump off the Battle Bus in a ranked match, you’ll be given a Ranked Urgent Quest. By completing certain amounts of Ranked Urgent Quests, you’ll unlock special in-game rewards. Complete just one Ranked Urgent Quest during Fortnite Chapter 4: Season OG to unlock the Chapter 1-inspired Ranker’s Tags Back Bling pictured below. It will display the color of the highest rank you’ve reached this season.
