TNG Original Costume Tests: Deanna Troi

I don’t have the actual documentary, just the Trekcore caps, so forgive me if I miss anything, and feel free to add on if you have more info!

Deanna had some great cut hairstyles, as well as some different contacts! Let’s dive in!

I really like this style! I love the little curls around the face. Also, I’m fascinated by that hair clip thing— it’s kinda unclear what it’s made of. If anyone has any info, pipe up! Her lipstick seems to get progressively darker over the first two seasons; it’s pretty close to this in Farpoint, but by Naked Now it’s already darker to go with her blue jumpsuit, and it changes again to even darker when the burgundy jumpsuit arrives in the second season. Contrariwise, her blue eyeshadow is a lot more prominent here than even in Farpoint. Channeling Spock and matching her department colour, I suppose.

I think I like the side view a lot more than the front view— that sparkly accent kind of gets lost in the hair in this view. The curls are still cute though! It’s also clearer in this picture the options for the Betazoid eyes. I didn’t notice it until someone pointed it out on Lon Suder, and now I can’t unsee it: Betazoids tend to have very large, very dark irises. Marina Sirtis’s actual eyes are a lot lighter than either option here.

The next hair option is this sleek bun. I think the decorations here are really pretty from the side, and again, less so from the front. I love the naturalistic design of those gold leafy patterns!

It looks a bit awkward from the front because of where the ends of the hair ornament fall. I think it might be nice if the top ones came over the front a bit more; I think the design would be clearer from all angles that way.

It looks like there’s a cool twisted or braided aspect to the bun, which I wish was easier to see! The side view also shows how far back the eyeshadow goes on this style. I think it looks pretty nice! It's a little closer to the style she gets later in the season, though more pulled back.

And this test is basically what made it on screen at Farpoint. This isn’t my favourite Troi hairstyle; the sparkly braided headband is cute, but maybe a little chunky and I think it has too many colours. I prefer the more defined loose curls she gets later to the loose frizz here.

Including this last picture mainly for the smile! Though you can also see how the eyeshadow was toned down from the other tests.

First Time Cosplay Journey: Peppino and Noise Full Body Cosplay

As the title states, this is literally the first time making a full fledged costume. @skyrider3217artz and I started this back at the beginning of July and we wanted to share our experience with making them for the upcoming convention my sister and I be heading to around December close to our birthday.

I'm used to doing custom plushies with my sister with our latest one being a custom 4 foot Mizutsune plush (https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunter/s/jD17gT3R0O) plus a mushroom toppin for a friend and a pinapple toppin for another commission. Honestly, this is a really big jump from making custom plushies but I am feeling optimistic about this project. It has been a long and grueling month working a full time job plus working on this cosplay with weather and workspace not being favorable at our location. This is what we have so far into the project:

Clothes

Since we have made the outer costume a separate entity, we can customize the cloths how we see fit. Here are some possible clothing options we can go for: Poise (purple "P" Rank clothing, SkyRider's favorite outfit to use in-game) and Critic. (Pepperman colors, cause it fits for the Christmas theme for the convention) This will still be "if we have time" item on our list, but we have the patterns to replicate it.

Head: Fully Completed (update)

Body: Body padding blocked out, need to attach to the jumpsuit.

Arms: Base arms complete but need more padding on shoulders.

Hands: Created the ducktape pattern. We will be ready to sew the pattern together for finalization.

Clothes

Same as The Noise cosplay, we plan to have separate clothing for customizations since it will be only the white shirt and chef hat that would need to be changed. The colors that I plan to have are: Candy Wrapper, (Purple with Halloween décor; if we can get the costume done before Halloween) Blood Red, and "possibly" an ugly sweater. (with a custom made Pizza Tower pattern for Christmas) Again, these are stuff we plan on doing but may not for time constraints. but we have some wishful thinking.

11 halloween couples’ costumes (alternate universe) miles and alex would/should wear

- han solo and luke skywalker: alex and his perfect hair would be han and miles with his big eyes would be luke with little maxie as chewbacca being a necessity obviously.

- 70s era lennon and mccartney: despite miles’ love of lennon, he would be mccartney with a terrible mullet wig and the famed strawberry macca jacket while alex would have the classic lennon nyc look.

- brokeback mountain: alex would be ennis and miles would be jack and that’s that. max would be their little sheep to herd.

- freddie mercury and rogerina from the i want to break free music video: this one would be so fun, i would pay so much to see miles parading around as freddie and alex as rogerina chewing gum. alex would take a bit of convincing from miles but then would have a few drinks and be so into it the whole night.

- butch cassidy and the sundance kid: i feel like they’ve both gone through a phase of being really into this film and could see either of them being both characters.

- tom and greg from succession: i would be surprised if alex hasn’t watched succession and even though he may be a bit more like kendall if i’m being honest i think he’d enjoy being tom for a night and having miles as his greg. this is definitely a last minute costume and miles would just go along with it bc alex thought it was funny and he said that max could be tom’s dog, mondale.

- dr no and james bond: alex would finally get to live out his bond villain dream! and miles would be a fab sean connery

- iceman and maverick from top gun: no man their age hasn’t had a bit of a top gun fantasy before and i think alex would enjoy any costume that involves wearing sunglasses.

- ferris bueller and cameron: miles is ferris and alex is cameron and miles is significantly more into the costume than alex is.

- WITHNAIL AND I!!!!!!!!: do i even have to explain this one??

- mick jagger and david bowie from the dancing in the street music video: this one is so fun and SO them. miles in the crazy patterned jumpsuit as bowie and alex as jagger, complete with all the head presses and gay dancing. perfect.

THE 112 DAYS THEORY FOR RE-RECORDS

This is a theory that states Taylor is releasing her rerecords in a 112 day pattern. This is simply a theory, I have no knowledge from Taylor or her team, I’m just a delulu swiftie trying to figure things out and use Easter eggs to understand the mastermind behind it all🤍 This is a theory from TikTok user NikkiKing23, I’ve added some of my own embellishments in here too🤍

Number Significance

112 songs stolen by Big Machine Records (not including versions of the same song (Bad Blood ft Kendrick Lamar and Thug Story are both official songs that are counted as they were released)

112 days between start of The Eras Tour (3/17) and Speak Now TV release (7/7)

112 days between Speak Now TV release and 1989 TV release (10/27)

1+12= 13!

The Midnight’s vinyls made a clock. Clocks read 1-12! Taylor made a video saying “It’s a clock. It tells time.” Perhaps it is telling the times of the re-records dropping.

Taylor’s eyeshadow in each piece of the vinyl clock is a colour of the remaining stolen albums (in chronological order)

We know Taylor uses her makeup to foreshadow albums - for example the Bejewelled makeup look where she represents each of her albums in a coloured area of eyeshadow

“THE MAN WALL” & KARMA LINK

This theory agrees that the “The Man” wall is being used in an infinity sign. Taylor has worn quite a lot of infinity sign jewellery over the rerecords process. The Coney Island bridge theory also works here too.

This proposes Reputation is next and then Debut.

Karma is in the middle of this wall at the centre of the infinity sign. Karma is an infinite cycle of death and rebirth.

Taylor has used lots of imagery in this idea, with the snake eating itself in the LWYMMD lyric video and in the ME! music video, the snake bursts into butterflies (aka is reborn into butterflies, showing freedom).

In the rerecording process, Taylor has to kill off her old albums, denying them streaming potential, but gives rebirth to them under her own name.

Karma is essential to both Buddhist and Hindu teachings.

In Hinduism there are 112 ways to break out of the cycle of Karma and reach a state of eternal bliss & freedom (this is called Moksha).

Moksha is often represented by a bird breaking free of a cage.

Taylor has used the imagery of being stuck in a birdcage in LWYMMD.

Orange is the colour that means purity in Hinduism.

Taylor often depicts Karma as being orange (“The Man” wall, supposed “lost album colour”)

She wears an orange jumpsuit whilst stuck in the birdcage.

Once Taylor has released all of her albums, and broken free of the cycle of Karma, she’s free to do as she wishes to and there will be nothing holding her back after 5yrs of her masters being held. She’ll have reached the eternal bliss and freedom she wishes for.

Everyone got hyped when the water streams appeared as different flags, especially Wakanda. That was a highlight. Everyone got hyped also when the dolphins appeared.

As Shuri captured one of those moments, you eased your hand onto her thigh. She looked at you, trying to see if you were okay or up to something. Your smile was reassuring. Your hand was persistent. She didn’t seem to mind as you traced circles and invisible patterns onto her soft skin. Emboldened, you carefully squeezed her thigh, watching her keep her eyes on the spectacle.

A part of you felt like a teenager. You also felt smug because you were pretty sure you were the reason Shuri had been in a rush to leave. In the moment of your touches, she seemed mostly unfazed. But that clearly was untrue. Wanting to work her up even more and satisfy your own needs, you stroked her leg as she drove.

It didn’t take long to reach the palace. It even seemed like you’d arrived there in record time. You navigated the dark home, though one by one it became dim lit. Shuri didn’t stop walking until you reached the night rise room. It was a room that you two had recently designed and renovated. A view of the skyline wrapped around the room with a built-in bed at one of its corners.

“You know what to do,” Shuri said, eyeing you expectantly.

Digimon Frontier - Episode 1

Woohoo! New series :D And I...already don't know how to feel. No digimon partners? Yet another goggle-boy whose name starts with "Ta?" Stereotypical characters? Well...I'll give it a chance. Let's find something to like about this lol.

Notes:

Beginning of the episode gave a mixture of Future Diary and isekai anime (especially with Truck-kun making an appearance!) I guess it's good that the kids had more agency than the Adventure kids in getting to the digital world, but I hope they explain all of this well later. Why are they being called to the digital world? What is the threat this time?

Speaking of Adventure, I wonder where this fits into the continuity. Is it its own thing like Tamers? They've gone back to saying "chosen children" and "digivice" so it seems to lean closer to Adventure, but the lack of partners seems to go against Adventure's definition of what it means to be chosen.

It makes sense since Digimon came from the v-pet toys, but they really like to lean into youths' fascination with technology. In this its the chunky Nokia phones. I'm pretty sure there's a digimon series where smart phones feature too.

Animation wasn't mind blowing, but it was nice and fluid. The sequence of trying to make the train was probably the most exciting/intriguing part.

Kind of already annoyed at the cast: generic rival boy who's a dick for absolutely no reason (the Sasuke, I like to call it), generic fat stereotype who is always eating, whiny little kid, and token girl who says things in Italian randomly. The girl character reminds me of Miyako with her "bingo" catchphrase -eye twitch- Let's see where the show takes them.

Visually the only character I really like is Izumi. At least she has a cute outfit. Okay, I guess Junpei's jumpsuit is kinda fun too...

Hey! Those monkey and rabbit looking mons are from the Wonderswan game I just played, D-Project. I guess they've been recycled. They're less partner digimon and more exposition characters. I like the yellow dude and his floppy feet.

Hard for me to buy that Tomoki would be such a crybaby but then be brave enough to walk out onto a train track hovering over an abyss?? Guess he's just that desperate

Why are there swarms of baby digimon everywhere? Are they continuing the weird tradition of digimon villages only being inhabited by babies?

The spirit digivolution sequence was fun but I don't really like Agnimon's design :/ It just looks like a jumbled mess of patterns and colors to me.

So a lot of the fun in the previous series was digivolution reveals. Do these spirit digivolutions have levels to them?

I have no idea what to make of this show yet. I read the comments on the site where I watched it and everyone was saying "MY CHILDHOOD!" so it at least meant something to someone out there!
