How to Set Freelancing Rates That Win You Clients
Tumblr media
As a freelance writer, I've struggled with the best strategy to set rates for my services.
When I started freelancing, I priced myself too low out of fear of losing potential clients. While I could win some customers, I found myself struggling to pay bills. Underpricing services hurt my income, attracting clients unwilling to pay for quality work.
It took me years to realize the damage I was doing to myself and my business. I refined my pricing strategy to reflect the value I provide. When pitching projects, I show my expertise and value, aiming to deliver quality work.
With this strategy, I command higher rates and attract clients who value my work.
Quoting higher rates is always intimidating. I've found that clients willing to pay for quality are the most rewarding to work with.
I want to explore pricing strategies to attract and keep high-value clients. When pricing services, let the rates reflect the value you provide.
Pricing of Freelance Services
Setting the right freelance rates is a challenge for many freelancers. On one hand, you want to remain competitive and attract potential clients.
But, you also need to ensure that the rates compensate you for your time, skills, and expertise. Balancing between these factors is vital if you want to win clients while earning a fair income.
Freelance rates vary depending on the niche, experience, location, and specific services offered. Yet, there are key principles and strategies for effective pricing of services.
Understand the Value of Your Service
The foundation of setting the right price is understanding the value you bring. When you venture into freelancing, you provide value for customers. You must understand the value of your service.
Here are some aspects to help you understand the worth of your service.
Skills and Expertise: Assess your skills, experience, and expertise in the chosen field. Determine how your qualifications and experience compare to other freelancers.
Market Demand: Research the demand for your services in the market. Are there many clients seeking freelancers with your skills? Are there a few freelancers offering similar services?
Industry Standards: Check what other freelancers in the niche charge for similar services. This gives you a baseline to work from when setting your rates. You should be within the range of industry standards.
Cost of Living: Many freelancers disregard this aspect. The fact is, you need money to pay bills, invest, and grow your financial status. Consider the cost of living in your location. Freelancers in expensive cities must charge higher rates to cover their expenses.
Value Proposition: Identify the unique value proposition you offer to clients. You should differentiate yourself from other freelancers. What sets you apart from other freelancers? How does your expertise benefit your clients?
Pricing Strategies for Freelancers
Once you understand the worth of your services, you price services based on value and market. Here are some common pricing strategies I have used in my freelancing career.
Hourly Rates: Charging hourly rates is a straightforward pricing method. You invoice clients based on the number of hours worked. This is beneficial for projects where the scope and duration are uncertain.
Project-Based Pricing: The pricing approach sets a fixed rate for the entire project. Regardless of the hours it takes to complete, you will receive a standard rate. It is helpful for clients who prefer to know the total cost upfront.
Value-Based Pricing: The price is set based on the value provided instead of time spent. The approach captures the perceived value of services, earning higher rates.
Retainer Agreements: Retainer agreements charge clients a fixed monthly fee for ongoing services. This provides a steady income for freelancers and fosters long-term client relationships.
Extra Tips on Pricing Your Services
When you start freelancing, you might think that lower rates win customers. The truth is, there are clients repelled by cheap freelancers. Check the standard rates in your niche. Use this as a basis for establishing yourself as a premium service provider.
Your pricing should reflect the value you provide, not the time it takes to complete a task. Never fear to charge what you're worth. Clients who value your expertise will be willing to pay for it.
When setting your rates, consider the long-term impact on your business. Pricing too low attracts low-quality clients and undermines your credibility.
Setting Freelance Rates to Win Customers
Winning clients requires an understanding of your worth and implementing good pricing strategies. You should also communicate your service value.
Take time to assess your skills, do market research, and develop a pricing strategy. This will attract clients who appreciate your expertise and are willing to pay for it.
Remember, pricing isn't about covering your expenses. It's a compensation for the value you offer.
Never settle for low-hanging fruits. Target high-value customers who will make you proud of your work.

Last week, I was unexpectedly laid off from my dream job. Unfortunately, I still haven’t been paid for the last month of work plus some reimbursements that the company still owes me, which has left me very tight on money. And I need to pay rent.
So I’m available to work ASAP, whether it’s freelance or full time. You can see more of my work on my website: www.lesliestrock.com.
I have 12 years of experience doing character design and illustration work. I have a diverse background and an even more diverse skill set. I’ve created art for animated series, comics, games, and apps. I’ve also worked on puppets and costumes for theme parks around the world.
I’m not picky about what the next step in my professional career is. I just need to find good work as soon as possible.
So please help me out and spread the word. Maybe reach out to anyone you know in the studios to see if they have any positions available right now. Anything helps. Thank you!! 💖

Gavin and freelancers relationship and World building
The thing that makes their relationship so intresting in terms of story is probably Gavin being a demon and how he navigates through a world that doesnt look at his kind in a good light.
His identity in being in incubus is a theme thats frequently touched upon though to me there seems to be a lack of reaction to their relationship. I mean its good that their friendgroup is so supportive and that all of their views seem to align and maybe freelancer and gavin just arent that open about their relationship but i imagine that that would cause problems eventually. A human and a demon being together in a relationship probably isnt something thats heard of often. People might even question their realtionship as a whole.
I think it might be cool if the next "DAMN season" would deal with this and maybe to tie it together more deal with closeknit on a surface level. I imagine damien organizing something cause he would so do that xp.But all of that being said its just my opinion feel free to disagree :3This wasnt really proofread and its my first post so please be nice <3 Happy holidays everyone.

"oh no. i think i'm catching feelings"
(this is what i do instead of my very important assignments.
Suggestive near the end, but not descriptive
title from 'sex' by eden)
Tumblr media
Freelancer can practically see the steam rushing out of Gavin's ears.
His face is red and his eyes were glaring holes into them. If they didn't know any better, they'd say he was mad at them.
But they saw the way Gavin's lips fought a smile. The corners of them tugging up without his approval, entirely giving away his facade.
They've grown awfully fond of him, and it almost scared them. Almost. No one could really be scared of such beauty, in their humble (and very correct) opinion. And if that didn't convince them, Freelancer would take any and every opportunity explaining how wise, endearing and kind the man in front of them was.
"Are you even listening to me?"
That snapped Freelancer right out of the clouds. They paused for a second, before coming clean.
"Nope. Sorry, handsome."
If Freelancer said Gavin's face managed to get even more red, he would deny it.
"You-" he starts, putting his face in his hands, breathing in and out to calm himself, "I am going to kill you."
If Gavin meant that, he didn't show it. Perhaps one could argue the blushing, smiling and wide eyes filled with adoration were all a ruse to hide his murderous intent. If that was the case, Freelancer had definitely fallen for (him) it.
Unfortunately for Gavin, Freelancer had one last card up their sleeve.
"And what are you going to do, Gavin? Fuck me to death?"
What were they here for again? Magic history tutoring? A movie date? Finishing the leftover pizza and wings they ordered the last time Gavin was over?
It didn't matter anymore, because Gavin was forcing them out of their seat, grabbing their face and kissing them breathless. All while maneuvering the both of them into their bedroom.
When Freelancer took a breath, they were on top of Gavin, legs on either side of his waist, one hand pinning one of his arms down while the other was resting on his chest. They stared at him as they felt his chest falling and rising, his heart beating beneath their touch.
They remembered what that meant, when a demon took the time to form a heart beat with magic. Slowly, they leaned down to kiss his chest, right where a real heart would be if he was human.
They looked up at him, and in their brief eye contact, Freelancer thanked him. For his help with DAMN stuff, for trusting them enough to be this vulnerable with his emotions.
For being in their life.
If Freelancer was asked if they started to cry in that moment, hiding it from Gavin by meeting his lips with their own again, they'd say it was drool.

It's been a long year and it's only February…
Well, it's time to put this out there: I've had a fairly shitty few years (like, haven't we all, obviously), but it's included a long, expensive legal battle against unscrupulous cysts, which is finally concluded satisfactorily save being left somewhat skint on the other side of it. Doesn’t help that said battle meant that I had to move house - not exactly a low activity on the expense and stress scales…
So I'm looking for extra work, to help while we wait for the Luxury Space Communism to kick in (I'd settle for Universal Basic Income or an end to the Housing and Cost of Living Crisis, tbh).
Things I do to a professional standard include:
Creative Mentoring and Tutoring (writing and performance techniques, especially for poetry - bespoke or standard workshops available for groups as well as one-to-one).
Project Management (feeling overwhelmed by a project you want to get off the ground and/ or run within budget and timescale? I can help with that).
Business Change Management (you need to expand or shift your business focus? I can help that happen in a well-managed fashion).
Performance Poetry (got a bunch of poems, 18 years' experience delivering them live, and a nice voice).
Writing to Commission (especially poetry, but I write both fictive prose and essays too).
Voice Acting and Narration (I've acted in audio dramas and narrated short stories, training videos, and so far one documentary).
Book and Pamphlet Production (I operate a small press).
Basic website setup and maintenance.
Training on any of the above.
I have a sliding scale of rates depending on customer circumstances, and you can book me for a free initial consultation via my website: https://www.fayroberts.co.uk/crass-commercialism/services/
And if you fancy just sending me money because you're generous, I have a ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/fayroberts

Don’t get me wrong, everyone is somebody’s fave and I’m glad for the people rooting for the underdogs/less popular characters that their fave made it but I find it kinda hard to believe that EVERYONE in Class A “made it” as a Pro.
Like, yes I know UA is the best hero school in Japan (certainly the most famous and revered) but that doesn’t mean the hero-success rate is a hundred percent
Nobody tried hero work for a while and then realized their passion/calling was elsewhere? No one got injured and had to take a step back? No one started a family? No one graduated but couldn’t keep up with the big leagues and eventually just settled for lower-level sidekick work or just quit heroing altogether?
With a dissolvement of the hero charts I might find it more believable but with the system left so intact as it is, the Pro Hero pool is more competitive than ever…
I get Horikoshi probably wanted to tie everything up with a nice little bow (was never gonna happen if the villains couldn’t be saved) but 20 (21 if you count Shinso) out of 20 becoming successful pros?? 🤨
