La Salle II Roadster, 1955. Part of GM's Motorama exhibition, this was an attempt to relaunch a dormant lower-priced Cadillac companion brand. Features included independent suspension and a compact fuel injected V6 experimental aluminium engine. The relaunch of La Salle never happened although the small fender grilles above the front bumper ends reappeared on production Cadillacs in 1957.

Fuel Injection: SPFI, MPFI, GDI & Dual Fuel—Quick Breakdown
Fuel injection systems efficiently deliver fuel to an engine for combustion. Here’s a brief overview of the different types:
1️⃣ SPFI (Single-Point Fuel Injection):
Uses one injector in the throttle body. Simple and cheap but less efficient than multi-point systems.
2️⃣ MPFI (Multi-Point Fuel Injection):
Injectors near each cylinder’s intake valve improve fuel atomization and efficiency.
• Sequential MPFI: Sprays fuel precisely before valve opens.
• Batch MPFI: Injectors fire simultaneously in groups.
3️⃣ GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection):
Injects fuel directly into the combustion chamber for better power and fuel efficiency, but may cause carbon buildup on valves.
4️⃣ Dual Fuel Injection:
Combines Port Fuel Injection (PFI) with Direct Injection (DI) for optimal performance, balancing emissions and power.

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a big block Lycoming. Here are the stages of closing the case. After measurements and bearing installation, the crankcase is ready for the crankshaft, which gets laid in after gear and rods are installed. Then sealant and silk thread are applied and the halves are closed. Hold down plates are used in place of cylinders to clamp the thru bolts together to ensure the bearings don’t shift post closure.

High Performance Fuel Injectors: Sizing, Selection, and Tuning Guide
Tumblr media
Upgrading your engine for more power can’t be complete without the right performance fuel injectors. The right injectors ensure your engine gets the precise amount of fuel it needs—no more, no less—allowing it to make the most power possible while being efficient and reliable.
It doesn’t matter which vehicle type or manufacturer you’re working on, choosing the correct fuel injectors is critical to unlocking the true performance potential of upgraded vehicles. This guide walks you through everything you need to know about fuel injectors, from sizing and selection to tuning, shopping, and even where to get the best fuel injector prices.
What Do Fuel Injectors Do?
Fuel injectors are responsible for sending atomized gasoline (or another fuel) into the engine’s combustion chamber. They’re electronically controlled by the ECU and timed to deliver fuel in precise amounts and intervals, where it can be ignited at the correct time. In some high performance or forced-induction applications, stock injectors simply can’t keep up.
When you’re pushing boost or adding horsepower, replacement injectors become a must. That’s where performance fuel injectors come in—they’re engineered for higher flow rates, faster cycling, and better atomization.
Sizing Fuel Injectors: Flow Rate & PSI
Proper injector sizing is key. If your injectors are too small, they’ll max out at higher RPMs, causing a lean condition. If they’re too large, the vehicle will run too rich and idle quality and fuel economy suffer.
Key considerations when choosing injector flow rate:
Horsepower goals: Higher power = higher flow rate
Fuel type: E85 requires 30% more flow than gasoline
Base fuel pressure (PSI): Most injectors are rated at 43.5 PSI (3 bar)
Injector duty cycle: Keep it under 85% for longevity
Use online calculators to estimate your flow rate needs, and always leave a margin for future upgrades.

High Impedance vs Low Impedance Injectors
When choosing injectors, it’s important to understand impedance:
High impedance injectors (also called saturated injectors) are compatible with most modern ECU systems and are ideal for street and performance builds.
Low impedance injectors (peak and hold) are often used in older race-focused applications and require dedicated driver circuits.
Unless you’re building a track-only motor or a period-correct classic performer, high impedance options are your safest bet.
Tuning for Performance Injectors
Installing new fuel injectors is only part of the upgrade—you’ll also need tuning.
Modern ECUs require updated injector scaling, latency settings, and timing adjustments to properly control fuel delivery. Custom or canned tunes from reputable tuners will help you build a reliable, high-powered setup.
In many cases, these software programs make it easy to recalibrate your vehicle after an injector upgrade.
When to Replace Your Injectors
You might not be building a 1000-hp monster, but even some relatively mild upgrades can benefit from replacement injectors. If you notice fuel trims running lean, injector pulsewidths maxing out, or sluggish throttle response after increasing boost pressure or installing performance engine parts, it may be time to upgrade.

Peugeot 505 Turbo Injection, 1982. The 505 was Peugeot's last rear wheel drive saloon. It was designed at Pininfarina and first introduced in 1979. The Turbo Injection used a 2,155cc Simca Type 180 engine (inherited when Peugeot took over Chrysler Europe) as the block was stronger than other engines Peugeot fitted to the 505.

How to Spot High-Quality Remanufactured Injectors for Your Vehicle
When it comes to maintaining the performance and efficiency of your vehicle, the fuel injectors play a critical role. Many car owners opt for remanufactured injectors as a cost-effective alternative to new parts, but it’s essential to ensure you're getting high-quality components. Here are some tips on how to spot premium remanufactured fuel injectors for your vehicle.
Tumblr media
First, always check the reputation of the supplier. Reputable suppliers of remanufactured injectors offer warranties, demonstrating confidence in their products. A good warranty will cover both parts and labor, offering peace of mind in case the injectors fail.
Next, consider the remanufacturing process. High-quality remanufactured fuel injectors are carefully cleaned, tested, and rebuilt to meet or exceed the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications. Be sure to inquire about the steps taken during the remanufacturing process, such as ultrasonic cleaning and calibration. A trusted supplier will explain the procedures and provide you with documentation or certification for the injectors.
Another key factor is the testing phase. Reliable remanufactured injectors should undergo rigorous testing, including performance tests to ensure they deliver the proper fuel flow and pressure. Ask if the injectors have been flow tested, as this ensures they meet the necessary standards for optimal engine performance.
Tumblr media
Finally, inspect the condition of the injectors. High-quality remanufactured fuel injectors should look like new, with no visible signs of wear, corrosion, or damage. Any reputable supplier will offer injectors that have been carefully inspected for such defects, ensuring long-lasting and reliable performance. By following these tips, you can confidently choose remanufactured injectors and remanufactured fuel injectors that provide great value without compromising your vehicle’s performance.
