MANILA, Philippines — A mixed movement in pump prices is expected next week, with increases in diesel and kerosene seen continuing, while that of gasoline could come to an end.

Cleanfuel said the running trend showed a possible upward adjustment of P0.10 per liter in the price of diesel and a P0.20 per liter reduction for gasoline.

An oil industry source, on the other hand, said indicative movement on pump prices for next week could be a potential price hike of P0.40 to P0.50 per liter for diesel and no movement for gasoline.

The price of kerosene, on the other hand, is estimated to go up by around P0.30 per liter.

Should the adjustments push through next week, it would extend the price hikes for diesel and kerosene to an eighth consecutive week.

Meanwhile, it would potentially stop the six straight weeks of price increases for gasoline.

The final domestic pump price movements will be announced by oil companies on Monday, which will take effect the next day.

Last week, oil companies raised prices by P1.10 per liter for gasoline, P0.20 per liter for diesel and P0.70 per liter for kerosene as global prices

These price adjustments resulted in a year-to-date net increase of P14.50 per liter for gasoline, P8.80 per liter for diesel and P5.84 per liter for kerosene, data from the Department of Energy (DOE) showed.

“The trend is centered on the projected decline in supply. OPEC-plus is keen on reducing supply and that’s the problem,” DOE-Oil Industry Management Bureau director Rino Abad said at the Laging Handa public briefing last Tuesday.
