INTERNET MARKETING CAMPAIGN DEVELOPMENT
I must say that this class was a very insightful. Each week I definitely learned something extra. The weekly assignments and discussions were all delightful, fun, interesting and an eye opener. I really cannot say this time around which one was my most favorites, but I can say that there never a dull moment and I do not have a least favorite.
In Week 2, we researched innovative campaigns this was so exciting to do because it gave me ideas for my current employer and of course my study case company. I loved this one; it was really cool. In Week 3, the marketing paper was due and I although I had the sample since the first course over a year ago, it never registered in my head that I should be doing this paper as we complete the work from each course. I just did not realize how much work is to be put into this project, but I loved putting the presentation together to pitch the paper to a company. I just love doing presentations. In Week 4, the project for this week has been “MIND BLOWING.” It revealed so much information about me that I am just so far gone and done with the Internet; this is crazy! If you are going to post information about someone make sure it is all fact and not in pieces. I am so glad to have discovered this information; it now gives me an idea of what may have been hindering me in my job search to relocate to Georgia.
Well I have come to end of this journey at Full Sail University for the second and final time, ‘Thank you, Lord.” Although, it has had its ups and more so downs, I am grateful and thankful for the experience, but note that I have no interest in repeating this one. “Praise God, for his grace and mercy.”

Business Plan Development
Business Plan Development was very informative for me. The class helps me to understand the way to plan for the start of my business. There are some things that I still do not understand however, I am so glad that this class exist. I did know what to expect from this class. Now being in the class, I have learned how to plan for the future when it comes down to talking to investors. To actually ponder if I want to have benefits for my employees, was also hard for me. I think that I would pay extra for the employees to have their own benefits because it is a hassle to do it through the company. I am grateful that I learned that I can make that decision.
The instructor, Steven Burhoe, is a very knowledgeable instructor. His teachings were so easy to understand. Every lesson had a way of making sure we understood every minute of it, which was cool because I just knew that I would not understand how to actually start the payroll. Because of his teachings, I am confident that I can do what is needed to boost my business sales and visibility of the business. The Excel spreadsheet part is something that I knew that I would have problems with. I really do not know how to work on Excel and having to input numbers hoping that my numbers would be right was stressful. To hear him talk about the spreadsheet and explain what to do and how to do it made me very confident about I am doing with starting my company. To actually hear about what my financials and payrolls will be like, even if it is hypothetical, was exciting to me. This was an awesome class and I would recommend this class to every entrepreneur I know.

Writing For Interactive Media
This class successful taught me how to develop my stories, create a foundation for each story I write, and build my freelance brand. Week one we focus on building our brand by drafting an about me page. This assignment and discussion made us hone in on our skills and list them in a concise about me page. Week two focus on creating and conducting a story with an interview. This was an exciting assignment! It lead me to research and use our resource tools on interviewing tips, writing a story and all the other resource provided by our instructor to improve and practice our writing skills. I like to look at week three as a preparation week for our assignment and discussion for week four. Week three was all about preparing our big story for week four. Our story for week four had to be semi lengthy and it was mandatory to conduct two interviews. I enjoyed having to write another story and conduct more interviews since this is all great experience for myself and for whom ever is the interviewee. As an interviewee you learn how to properly answer questions and multiple things can be learned from these sessions depending on how much your interviewee as interviewed and what you are interviewing them about. My first story was about White Hat Hacking. I conducted a group interview with the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Networking Engineer at Ignition Creative. Both have useful information to share regarding hacking in general and I was grateful to be able to learn more about this topic for two knowledgeable tech guys. My second story I covered a HackerNest Social. HackNest is a non-profit organization that host tech events to build up local tech communities in the area. This HackerNest Social was hosted at Hulu’s Santa Monica office. I was able to interview multiple people including the host, Hulu talent representative, and three attendees. Being able to get out and attend these events for school purposes is awesome! I enjoy meeting people and discussing how they feel about a certain topic. This class has improved my writing and journalism skills by allowing me to start my journey with two stories were I conducted interviews. The instructor also provided many useful links, infographics, webpages, etc.to help the class improve our writing. Overall this was a great course for my journalism career and the instructor did well on the structure of the class.

Outdoing Expectations!
Hello again to all you out there in the ether.  It is nice to see you again, or better yet send this message out via deep space communications, I don’t know who will be reading this so enjoy.  This month has been very interesting indeed.   First let me start by saying that my inspiration for this month and the many months to come is my family.  I am lucky to say that I have had a new daughter arrive on Oct. 15th.  I am very tired right now and very exhausted both physically and mentally as we also have a one year old, but life is good and God is great!  I am blessed to have such a strong and amazing wife and beautiful and healthy children.
Now on to the juicy part… Not only did we cover many things that I had already learned in my Bachelor’s degree program, but we covered a couple different legal aspects that I had not had the pleasure of experiencing in the past.  This month was a very interesting month indeed.  We covered copyright, which is something I was very familiar with, but we did a lot of case study as well.  It was hard to say which assignment I liked the most, as I personally enjoyed them all.  I think it comes natural to me or something…  Anyway, if I had to pick I would say the slide show presentation assignment was my favorite to do, as I really like the media production side of things.  I think that all the topics covered this month are super important, but most of all the copyright and the information regarding the rights of journalists.  Those bits of information will be the most useful to me in the future of my career.
All of the knowledge the was graciously bestowed upon me this month will be very helpful in almost any legal situation that I may personally encounter in the communications industry.  It is already really helping me to know what I can and can’t do in my state, for instance in my state I can’t video record anyone and USE the footage without written consent, that is unless I blur their faces out, however I can photograph and audio record anyone anywhere under any circumstance and use any and all audio and photograph in anything I want to use, public, private, and civil, etc. This course actually went above and beyond my expectations as it was very informative and straight to the point with the necessary information, with applicable ways to actually use that information if needed.
See you all on the flip side of next month!

Project & Team Management Class
Throughout the month of September, I was placed into my Project and Team Management class for my Master’s Degree. I had heard so many great things about how it was a class that you get to really learn not only something about others, but something about your classmates and others in the business world. This class was something I was excited to be having as I always find it interesting to work with some classmates. It gives a chance for many of us to be tested on how to handle some situations that might arise in the world outside of our normal school lives. Giving the chance to do the fun character studies was something that really helped us determine what types of people that we might encounter, and really realize that they might just be misunderstood. Along with class, I had to take what I learned in my Bachelors program and utilize it into this class, that is scheduling. Many people that I noticed during the class we all have outside things that had us very busy. Having to really stay on task, keep pushing to get things done, and staying organized. I really enjoyed the class. I think the fact that my instructor really told us not to stress, to have fun, and get creative had to be what really had me enjoying this class. Throughout this class, and future classes, I plan on utilizing some of the websites that he suggested to us, and also to really have fun with what I am trying to build upon. We are all given this amazing chance to really get into something, get creative, and to build upon something being really spectacular with other classmates. Along with that I also am continuing to really build connections and learn from them.

DIGITAL ANALYTICS AND OPTIMIZATION
The second time around has to be better; this time I have to get it right. As the saying goes, “time waits for no man.” Where has the time gone? I have no clue; I am at a lost of words. This month went by so fast as apposed to the first time I took the course and wanted to get to the end. This time around I would have liked another 30 – 45 days to grasp everything. This is one of the few courses at Full Sail that should have a part 1, part 2 and a part 3 course; to better prepare me for the Google Analytics Test, because I still do not feel that I am prepared. Actually I wish there were a few other courses in this program that had additional parts.
This course is perfect, because it provides the needed resources to prepare for the Google Analytics Certification (GAC). This course has been very interesting filled with massive information and assignments; there was so much to learn but so little time. The good part is preparing for the GAC test would be great asset to place on my resume and on my business proposals.
As always I must say that I love Full Sail. I wish that they had a Ph.D. program for me to further my education, but just as time waits for no one, I must move on to the next chapter in life. I just pray that it includes a successful business as an entrepreneur.
Thank you Full Sail for the opportunity.

Mastery Journal
Hello fellow Nerds and Nerdettes, this is my Mastery Journal.  I have been on a very long trip through the universe, on my way to finally being able to share a part of my creative mind with you.  The weird thing is we have been on this trip together whether you believe it or not.  I mean come on, we do reside on the same planet and move through the same universe… Or so I would hope.  What I would like to see in the next year, or better yet, what I would like to show you, is a massive conglomeration of elements that are a factor in this Mastery Journey that I am on.  Since I was a young child I have wanted to become an astronaut, and since I’m not, I am completely fine with pretending to be one.
What I am saying here is that I am excited to introduce my creativity and my inspirations for that creativity to you and to keep you posted on my latest insights.  I am currently the first person to even graduate from college in my family and I am continuing with a Master’s in Media and Journalism.  That coupled with a Bachelor’s of Science in Music Production, and my deep passion for everything audio/video/media/sci-fi/games/etc., is what brings me here.  I am learning to master my techniques and my passions.  Master my special little niche in this universe.  I have some projects that I have been working on for years now, that have just been waiting for the proper recipe and bake time to come to rise.  When the time is appropriate I will share those with you, but for now, just hang tight, make sure your inertial dampers are working, and you’re are buckled in and experience the remainder of my long trip with me.
I am already learning so much and cultivating my craft, but I still have a lot to learn before I have it perfected.  What I really hope to learn in this program and path to Mastery is video techniques.  From shooting the video, to editing the video, to affecting the video.  I understand Journalism has its literary side and I am ok with that, as I have always liked writing as well.  I also hope to learn to be more resourceful with with online sources and research.  All this so that I can follow my passion and later on use it to help with my Church when needed.  I am also planning on beginning production work again very soon, planning to move toward fully working for myself, under my business name Wolf Den Media Productions.  One of my goals before this next year is up is to have an LLC and DBA for Wolf Den Media Productions and be working toward purchasing property for Production Studio and Film Studio in my area.  This is going to be a lot of work but as I said earlier, hang tight and enjoy the ride.
Best,
Jacob Herrick-Sovey
