Fear of Job Loss

With the pandemic let’s be honest most of us are struggling. Most of us are trying to either keep the job we have or find a new one. It’s hard for everyone. With the country opening up jobs are becoming more and more available. This is nice but hopefully not at a cost and sometimes it worries me. I do want things to go back to normal but I know until a vaccine is made things will be far from what normal used to be. Even though I don’t see a whole lot of people with masks on I have underlying conditions so I continue to wear mine. I get looks sometime but I know I have to be safe even if it mean I might obtain it at some point. At least I know I did everything I could to prevent it before obtaining it if this is the case. I’ll be honest I’m a first year teacher. I still have to take an endorsement exam and get certified in other ceritifications to obtain my professional certification. I fear everyday that I won’t have a job I love and enjoy next school year. Not because of whether or not I’m certified (I do have a temporary certification and I’m certified to teach in the classroom and have prior experience) but because of whether or not I can pass this exam right before the school year begins. I HAVE to pass it to teach next school year with the pandemic though everything is uncertain. What if they cancel my testing time or date in late July? what if I don’t pass it the first time? what if something goes wrong?...what if?.... all of these things have been circling my mind consistently lately. I definitely don’t want to lose a job I love and enjoy I definitely don’t want all of my hard work to go to waste to get to the point I’m at now. I fear everyday people keep saying I’ll pass the first time for my endorsement but there’s always that slim chance as a realist I tend to look at all of my options. I can only hope they will let me work as I work towards my endorsement and certifications if things don’t work out in July. It’s at the discretion of my school. Fingers crossed and wish me luck. I know everything will work out the way it should but nonetheless it doesn’t mean i’m not worried for the future. 

My fear for the future are just as uncertain as everyone elses fears during the time of COVID 19. This is a year full of uncertainty....

Future Thoughts

I like to type as I'm thinking to myself and right now I feel this pull on my heart. As i think about my future I know I want to have children. I have a literal yearning to one day just hold my baby to my chest and listen to their breathing as I rock them to sleep. Knowing that my arms will be hurting and sore but not willing to lay them down in favor of just being near. My heart yearns for this.

Oddly enough I want the pain that comes with it. I want it all. To experience the discomforts of motherhood, the pain and fear of childbirth, the recovery, the stolen moments between me and my baby, the first tears when I have to leave for the first time. I want all of it

I decided I wanted to do a collage. Normally I would just grab a bunch of stuff that I liked or thought looked cool, but this time, keeping illustration in mind, I wanted to have the collage tell a story. 

I first started looking for a large block of text that I could cut words or sentence fragments from. Luckily, I found a piece that contained some very vivid language, so I decided to rearrange several lines of text out of that work.

After forming a sentence I felt was powerful enough to build a piece around, I began to search out images that I felt expressed or were related to the tone I was hoping to convey in the text. I tried several different options before I settled on the one I felt was the strongest in balance and concept. After some minor editing in Lightroom, the end result was exactly the tone I was looking for.

Future Thoughts

I know I'm not the only one who tends to hear that I can be with anyone I want to.  Or that because there are so many possibilities on my team, I can just pick 1 and be happy.  But how does that work?  I mean, I'm just supposed to close my eyes and randomly point out some female and believe she's the one that was created for me?  I'll pass.  See the one I want can't be picked from a random group or even categorized with the rest. She was molded from my rib and designed full virtue.  She walks and speaks with purpose. She's the one I envision consistently making power moves and being so focused on bettering herself, for herself, that the idea of her dating a guy like me seems unrealistic.  But that's the beauty of #wishfulthinking .  Just because it can't be seen at the moment, doesn't mean we couldn't be something special down the line.
