Every day I am so fucking glad that the old twoleg in GreyStripe's Vow wasn't villainized for the situation she and her cats were in due to her hoarding. They make it obvious that she's unwell both in terms of physical health and mental health (It's heavily suggested that she has dementia)

And the fact that it's consistently acknowledged that she loves her cats and that what had spiraled out of control wasn't something to blame her for is a breath of fresh air. The scene where she's being carried out of the house on a stretcher and Petunia's trying to hop into the ambulance, the absolute devastating effects that this has on Petunia. The fact that it's confirmed that she dies (likely in the hospital) but Petunia is told by Gremlin that she's happier now is one of the many amazing moments in GreyStripe's Vow.

I don't care for GreyStripe, but the fact that his book has so many interesting side/secondary characters and really good+realistic portrayals of animals in hoarding houses just makes me absolutely love the hell out of this book
