The things people do to make a buck. Here’s a 5-room tent for rent on someone’s deck in Scottsdale, PA for $399/month.  Electric, Propane for Shower and Grill, WiFi, Porta John is inc., BUT it is priced for only 2 people (Additional charge for more people). The listing has now been taken off by Zillow, (it’s fuckin’ freezin’ in Penn. right now), and Zillow says it was placed there by a 3rd party. Zillow knows damned well this is illegal.
Tumblr media
It’s pretty big, but it’s seen better days.
Tumblr media
Notice the tear. It comes furnished with: Double pull-out bed, recliner, dining table, lounge, city water, Hot shower in separate Shower TENT on the deck,  BBQ gas grill, dinnerware, glassware, cookware, bed linens provided, blankets, and sleeping bags. Propane heater available at extra cost.
Tumblr media
RENTERS INSURANCE REQUIRED @approximately $10.00 per month via an online policy or your car insurance agent. (Like any company would insure this thing.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I cannot believe this. They actually rigged up a cold water sink and 2 burners (what happens when it rains?).
Tumblr media
The eat-in kitchen.
Tumblr media
Here’s the dining room.
Tumblr media
Living room with romantic fire ring thing.
Tumblr media
Deposit required, too- may be spread across 2-months. Owner wrote: Zillow does not have a tent option, so I selected "house." This is an elevated TENT. (That’s probably how the ad got past Zillow.) Doesn’t say anything about this river.

thinking about the lack of gods in asatro
i was checking through tags and someone was mentioning that in greek mythos if youre using the gods for fiction then instead of radically changing a god into something they arent then maybe look for some other god that better fits
theres a certain... in pagan tumblr... moral question to be asked about the birth of new gods or the changing of already existing gods
as before mentioned; having personal interpretation must usually follow with a sort of "proof" like "this god told me that this is true" or "i divined this" or else you risk sounding like a fandom person which is generally looked down upon like treating our gods as fiction is a christian sin for which we must ask repentance or be excommunicated for our heresies
i like fire, hearths arent common anymore and no one sane in sweden uses a gas burner over an electric stove in our homes unless its a fireplace and you are a home owner
there is
no god of the hearth
in asatro
when i go out grilling and build a fire and look within, there is no god for me to find nor thank
people theorize that loki might have fit that role but we Do Not Know
then theres things that just couldnt be applicable to the people who practiced the faith when it was alive
public transport (something we frequently have to pray is on time), IT (something we frequently have to pray will Work), weather conditions that even the vikings who travelled the furthest from scandinavia would never have fucking seen (tornado)
there are
so few gods
i will go into this in further depth in a later post that isnt this lament but the birth of a god has to come through Someone, someone has to be the first person to speak their name and advertise their existence
and we kind of need to repopulate the faith
ragnarök already happened to the gods in a way, most of the gods must have died when the faith did and no one saw fit to tell their stories and thus they were forgotten, a great purge, a great plague
i think a lot of my posts end up on the same note where i worry about the state of our community and the culture of paganism on tumblr
and i think that wont stop any time soon
i turned too hard from gatekeeper to fuck it we ball
i think there should be a god responsible for traffic jams so we can curse him
i think Wifi should be the name of a vana
i think we shouldnt shame the divine right of creation where we can birth a new god

Hi,
After a decade of hesitation I've finally, as they say, pulled the trigger and bought tickets to visit your beautiful country. I'll be arriving in September.
Now, I believe you're the right person to ask, what are some good places to go for long walks in nature, stargaze and maybe spend a night out in the open? Is it legal to camp in forests in Latvia? Also, what's the weather like mid-autumn?
I hope it's ok to write. I'm just really excited to finally be fulfilling a long-held dream. Besides, your pictures played no small part in shaping it and I've often fantasized about seeing the places you've captured these past few years.
Whatever your answer (or lack thereof, it's ok), thank you for your lovely work and for so generously sharing it.
Take care.
Thank you, that's such a lovely compliment! ❤
September in Latvia can be tricky. You could get a week or two of really warm, practically Summer weather but you could also get a lot of cold wind and rain, and have to wear a coat. 🤷‍♀️ I hope you get the warm weather! Unless you love it cold. 😆
Yes, it is legal to camp in forests here. There are official campsites, though, where you might have to pay a few euros for the spot but in general, you can camp wherever you want, unless there are special signs of private property or of a protected area (the leaf pic below) (in which case you have to look for a campsite sign to camp).
Tumblr media
If you're camping by the sea, it is against the law to make fire in the dunes, so you should do it down at the beach. From April to September, if it's dry, you shouldn't make fire in the forest either, instead use a gas burner or a grill for food.
For stargazing, I'd definitely recommend beaches far from the city, 'cause, you know, clearer sky. 😁
As for specific trails, God, there are so many. Could this map help?
I hope you enjoy it here. :)

Thanks for the cooking tips! (I'm the anon) I cone from a very poor Mexican family so we had a pretty average sized pot, and we boiled it over those cheap grills outside the apartment complex... for our tacos we just boil it with garlic and oregano then top the taco with cilantro and onion 👌. Happy to see we have that in common!
Oof yeah understandable, pots are fucking expensive and finding one that's a good size that'll cook evenly is also really fucking expensive. Plus I'm starting to realize now that apartment ovens are ASS, I got spoiled by my family having gas burners that don't have a massive hot spot on each burner
It sounds delicious though, and now I really want beef tongue XD beef tongue tacos with fresh cilantro and onion is GODLY, but I don't know any authentic taco shops up north where I can get it vs back home in San Diego
