Best Carport Kits: Factors to Consider Before Choosing  Carport Kits  in Australia
Tumblr media
If you own a car or any other vehicle but do not have a garage in your home or office building, it is exposed to many harmful elements. Thus, you must do something to protect your car against extreme weather conditions to enjoy it for many years to come. Carports are one of the most effective ways to extend the life of your car’s exterior, as they offer ultimate shelter for the vehicle. They are highly robust, durable, and long-lasting to protect their expensive investment.
Undoubtedly, installing a top-quality carport for sale is an inexpensive and great alternative to the traditional garage in residential and commercial buildings, but sometimes it can be challenging to choose the right one because there is a wide range of carports kits for you to choose from and which can address your car protection needs. So, it is essential to make some considerations before buying a Carport, Pergola, Patio & Gazebo. The first and foremost thing is to consider the space you have available on your property for your car. Normally, the type and size of a carport depend on how much space you have and the size of your car.
Currently, carport manufacturing companies use several kinds of materials and methods to produce carports. Different companies offer various types of carports products at exceptional rates. Some of them also provide the best services for the delivery, installation, and maintenance of their carports. But, today, most companies sell the highest quality carport kits Australia, which include all supplies needed for the fitting of carports. However, it is essential to consider a reputable carport company to get the best deals that suit your needs and budget. After knowing which kind of carport answers your requirements, then you might be looking for where to buy a good quality product.
Essential Factors to Consider
The process of buying Carport Kits should run smoothly and be an excellent experience from the manufacturer to the customer support and installation process. We want you to be satisfied with your decision. That’s why we’ve created a list of essential factors to consider when buying carport kits for sale.
Ease of Assembly
Most carports can be assembled by two persons. It is good to have a helping hand so that you can safely finish its installation. Pay attention to the instructions from the manufacturer as well.
Size
How big is your car? How ample is the space available in the yard? These are two of the most significant things that will help you decide on the carport's size. More often than not, a bigger carport is a better option since this ensures better protection for your car.
Durability
If you want the best value for money, see that the carport is made from premium materials like aluminium carport kits that will last for a long time.
Versatility
In most cases, a carport should cover your car and must also double as a covered tent. This can be used for gatherings with friends and family, such as for lunch in the garden.
Portability
Lightweight carports are good in portability but ensure that the stability will not be compromised. Standalone carports are more valuable than those attached to a fixed structure. This means that you can easily disassemble it and install it in a different place.
Warranty
This is an essential consideration as it will provide you with peace of mind. The standard warranty is one year. Some can have up to 5-10 years of warranty. A longer warranty of carports kits is a better choice since you can expect support from the manufacturer if the product proves to be faulty.

What is an Off-Road Camping Trailer?
Hybrid Caravans, Hybrid Campers, Off-Road Camper Australia, 4X4 Campers, and other overland-equipped vehicles are generally made with robust materials, boosted suspensions, and muscular off-road tires. The off-road renovations make it easier for adventurous campers to take their rig to remote locations. This is required rock crawling, water fording, or mudding to cross over the rugged terrain. Every time it is not likely to get a travel trailer to more barren areas, off-road camping trailers, or versions of the off-road camper, make it possible to traverse unforgiving landscapes to find peace in the places which are travelled by very few people.
What is a Hybrid Camper?
A hybrid camper is a combination of a caravan and a camper trailer. Similar to other camper trailers, the hybrid has a narrow body, about the width of a large four-wheel drive, getting them easy to control down narrow bush tracks.

Solid sidewalls let you to fit additional accessories such as electric canopies and LED camp lights. Few are available with toilet and shower options, either built in or added on. You also need to have Utensils like cutting knife, wooden spoon, tongs, spatula, cups, bowls, plates, spoons, knives, forks.
Cleaning - Paper towels, Tea towels, Rubbish bags, Eco-friendly detergent, Dustpan and brush, Sponge, Wash bucket,
Personal hygiene – Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Face cloth, Eco-friendly soap, Toilet paper, Applicable medications, Wet wipes
Living essentials – Sunscreen, Insect repellent, Pocket knife, Flint, Large water bottle, Paper maps, Mobile device chargers, Head lamp, Torch,

Making Memories Underneath the Sun: Summer Gazebo Kits in Australia
The garden gazebo kits in Australia offer a beautiful combination of beauty and usefulness, making it an enticing centre point in any outside environment. Frequently regarded as the focal point of an immaculate lawn, its allure amplifies the organic splendour of its surroundings. A garden gazebo's attraction extends beyond its aesthetics; it increases the amount of living space that can be used and creates an outside area that welcomes nature inside while offering shade and comfort.
Tumblr media
Pool Gazebo is available in a multitude of styles, ranging from the traditional octagonal shape to more modern rectangular shapes, to suit a broad range of aesthetic tastes. Traditional wood has a cosy, natural feel, but more contemporary materials like vinyl or metal are more durable and require less upkeep.
Gazebos Provide a Multipurpose, Adaptable Area
Gazebos are fantastic since they are versatile and can be set up in a variety of ways. A pavilion may be used for a variety of activities; it can be used for dining, reading, working, resting, or gardening.
You may set up an outdoor eating area or reading nook by outfitting a gazebo with seats and a table. By adding partially and fully shaded plants to the periphery of your gazebo, you can incorporate them into your garden and have a quiet place to rest while tending to your plants. A gazebo can serve as a covered spot beside the pool where people can relax after a fantastic swim or read a book.
Choose Fitness and Wellbeing Gazebos
For people who want to combine exercise with the peace of nature, a gazebo might be the ideal place for personal health and well-being. It's a wonderful addition to a house. A gazebo lets in natural light and fresh air when at least one side is open, which creates a welcoming environment for a variety of exercises. The gazebo location is ideal for yoga and pilates since they provide a calm space for stretching and meditation.
A gazebo's visual appeal elevates the usefulness of shielding a car from the weather by a degree. In contrast to regular carports, gazebos can have elaborate details and bespoke designs that improve the overall appearance.

Because of the midgee proof mesh design, you’ll have plenty of airflow to relax under minus insects.

Spending summer at the beach (or river) is about as Australian as you can get. So, we thought we’d put together a short list of tips so you can get the most fun out of your next trip to the beach.
1. Invest in a beach shade
Spending a whole day at the beach in the sun can be taxing on the old body. There is only so much relief the odd dunk in the water can provide. And considering there are only a few shady trees on most beaches (few of us splash on tropical islands in the shade of coconut trees), shade must be brought to you.
The humble beach shade is a game changer. Available in pop-up tent and gazebo and umbrella styles, and Moana-style V/L configurations, there is a beach shade to suit all conditions and even the biggest of families. The main benefit of a sun shelter is that it blocks out the sun. Some will just act as a shade, others go further and offer UPF50+ protection.
But beach sunshades are no one-trick pony. They also provide wind protection and privacy from the hoards of other beachgoers. And their use isn’t to be restricted to just the seaside. Take your shelter on your next picnic, to watch your favourite team over the weekend, even set it up in the backyard for extra outdoor shelter at your next Sunday BBQ.

And their use isn’t to be restricted to just the seaside. Take your shelter on your next picnic, to watch your favourite team on the weekend, even set it up in the backyard for extra outdoor shelter at your next Sunday BBQ.

2. Slip! Slop! Slap!
Speaking of sun protection: slipping, slopping, and slapping not only protects you and your family from the risks of skin cancer but the painful effects of sunburn. Summer is about enjoying the outdoors and the beach – the last thing you want is a horrible bout of sunburn. What a dampener that would be!
3. Go to a less popular beach
Australia is known for its beach culture. Sydney has Bondi. Adelaide has Glenelg. Melbourne has St Kilda. Perth has Cottesloe. As soon as the temperature slips above 30, these beaches are a hive of activity – you’ll struggle to find a spot for your towel let alone some shade. That’s why, at the height of summer, heading to a less popular beach can be the key to summertime enjoyment.
Be mindful when selecting a beach that it may not be patrolled by surf lifesavers. Surf Life Saving Australia has a great tool on their website called Beachsafe, which allows you to search Australia-wide and set it to only show beaches that are patrolled by lifesavers. It also provides information as to the best part of the beach to paddle in, amenities (cafes, toilets, etc.), surf conditions, and whether it’s a good spot to cast a line as well.
Even at some lesser known beaches parking can be tricky. Get in early so you score a good park and put a positive spin on the walk from the car to the beach. Make the most of the walk among the fancy beachside mansions that seem to stand over most Australian beaches these days. You might just spot your dream home!
Beachsafe by Surf Life Saving Australia is a great tool to use. Image: Beachsafe
4. Take good food and drinks
Food at beachside kiosks can be expensive, poor quality, and really bad for you. Rather than spending your hard earned cash on fish and chips, consider taking your own food and drinks. And have some fun with it – turn your next beach trip into the ultimate picnic!
Don’t forget to take an insulated picnic bag or cooler with you to keep your nosh cool and fresh.
5. Take toys and games for the kids
Kids have short attention spans. Keep them entertained by having a range of activities and things for them to do at the ready. Pack a snorkel, a boogie board, the beach cricket set, some colouring in books, even a deck or two of cards (fun for the adults too).
Going to the beach isn’t all about swimming and sunbathing. Enjoy the time outdoors and vary up your activities. And don’t forget to pack a book!
Get everyone off their phones with a round of beach cricket. Just remember to Slip! Slop, Slap! Image: Sunshine Coast Australia
6. Be prepared
Seems this tip pops up in all aspects of life, doesn’t it? There must be something in it. Being prepared can be the difference between having an alright time and having a ripper beach trip!
Have a list, check it twice, and organise your gear in advance. Sure, a trip down to the beach for the afternoon doesn’t need military planning. But remembering to pack the bottle opener or sunscreen can have an effect on how much you enjoy your time.
If you anticipate long walks between the car and the beach, make sure you choose light, easy to carry gear. Rather than a large icebox, consider an IceMule bag or wheeled style cooler. Instead of an awkward-to-cart beach shelter, consider something that comes in a small, easy to carry ‘yoga style’ bag like the Caribee Guardian UV Beach Shelter.
If you want to head to the beach more often, build a small kit of the gear you’ll need and store it all together in an accessible spot in the spare room or shed. This way you can just grab it and run out the door when the weather is just right.
How do you like to have fun at the beach when the weather is warm?

Last cruise
So, dear reader, here I am on day 3 of our final 2-week cruise out of Sydney – currently under full sail towards Fiji and our last chances to get horribly drunk and sunburnt on beautiful, white sand beaches before heading back home to the UK in the middle of winter.
What a contract it has been – New Zealand was even more magical than we had been expecting, Australia was majestic (and such a privilege to have seen it before it burns to the ground) and all other sundry places (Tahiti, Samoa, New Caledonia) were as beautiful as could be imagined.
The ship currently appears to be falling apart around our ears, not helped by a week’s worth of VERY rough seas a while back when the crew recreation room was nearly shaken apart in the 25ft swells… a swell is a nautical term for waves going up and down, even on a ship as big as ours (it’s nearly 300 metres long) when you are constantly going up 25ft before letting gravity take it’s natural course, it’s a little hard not to feel it.  Feels like a good time to leave, anyway.
Our time on board wasn’t without its challenges: I tried to book my girlfriend on as a guest for the New Year’s cruise, had been assured that it was a mere formality and looked forward to celebrating both our birthdays together. Her birthday was a major milestone, so we’d asked friends and family to donate towards funding her ‘dream holiday’ to celebrate, only to be told with only a week’s notice that – because of some stupid reason which I’ll not bore you with – the request was denied. We managed to get her flights refunded but it was still pretty sucky.
Musically, well everything has been pretty good, too.  The theme sets we play (Beatles night, ABBA, Country, Rock and Roll – the usual stuff) have all gone down really well – the Aussies LOVE them a bit of ABBA! And I only sing one of those tunes (Does Your Mother Know?) so it’s a pretty easy night for me.
The open deck shows – the big evening parties we throw once a cruise to the whole ship – have been excellent, the New Year’s Eve night was EPIC with around 2500 folk up there dancing along.  The last one we played was notable, too: firstly, it should have been cancelled because the weather was clearly terrible.  But they’d advertised quite heavily as a trademark theme show.  We turned up (which was more than could be said for most of the passengers…) and started it in gale conditions, freezing our asses off.  Not only did every technical problem happen that could have happened but a few also happened which couldn’t have happened.
In soundcheck, our drummer asked to have less of the backing tracks in his ear-mix, he only needed the click track.  He was told that the click and the backing tracks were on the same track, and couldn’t be separated or mixed down. Oh well, he’d just have to suffer them both.
As we started the show, he quickly became animated and started waving frantically at the sound crew. The click track was glitchy, stuttering along in random bursts and not following the backing tracks, confusing the hell out of him – and because he was leading the band, everyone else.  Now, given that they were on the same track, how the hell could THAT happen? One by one, we eventually gave the music up as a bad idea and just let the backing tracks play on their own.
The wind blew over mic stands, half the drum kit and it took three guys clinging on to the gazebo over the sound desk to stop it from flying off over the Tasman sea.  The dancers nearly caught hypothermia in their skimpy outfits, the trombonist saw his sheet music go flying everywhere and – despite wearing three layers of clothing and a woolly hat, my fingers froze up during the last song so I had to stop playing.
DESPITE all of this, the crowd (eventually maybe a couple of hundred people showed up) LOVED it, danced like crazy and gave a tonne of positive feedback on guest comments.  So, normally if it feels like a disaster, looks like a disaster and sounds like a disaster then it can be classified as such. In this instance, because the crowd enjoyed it so much it was actually a runaway success. Go figure! It will remain both a highlight and a lowlight of my career, and is probably the strongest ‘war story’ I’ll take from my time on ships.
What I am looking forward to when I get back home is to play a re-union gig with my old originals act back in my hometown. After 4 months of playing the same 250 cover songs round and round (and round and over and over again…), it will be very nice indeed to blow the dust off the rock tunes that we used to tour around the UK.  The past couple of years we’ve only done one show a year at a micro festival on the south coast, partly as a means to keep in touch and catch up now that life has taken us off in different routes. But they went so well that our old promoter has booked us a night in a decent venue and is marketing it as a ‘one-off reunion’.
We had some great times back in the day: got ‘discovered’ by the tour manager for the Black Eyed Peas, played a bunch of festivals and recorded with some legends of the industry. In a lot of rock stars’ autobiographies they talk about the best times being when they were rattling around in the back of a transit van playing shows before they got ‘big’.  Well, the stadium gigs and personal jumbo jets never happened for us (thankfully, as it turns out) but we had all that good stuff in our ex-Royal Mail transit van and I wouldn’t swap those memories for all the world.
Still feels a bit weird seeing the adverts for the ‘re-union’ show though – but as an excuse to catch up for a rehearsal, a show and a few beers in and around that with the other lads, it’s going to be great!
So, here’s hoping for a nice, uneventful, hot and sunny last 12 days on the floating containment unit before I have to go through the ordeal of a 25hr flight itinerary back to the UK lugging 50kilos of my stuff with me. And onto the next adventure!
Cheers!

Top 5 Tips When Building A Fixed Gazebo in your Backyard
Top 5 Tips When Building A Fixed Gazebo in your Backyard
Gazebos are a great addition to your home. They’re functional, giving you a lovely place to sit when the weather is perfect outside. They’re nice to look at and add to the aesthetic appeal of your yard. And, because of that, they can also add substantial value to your home.
Whether you’re building the gazebo yourself from some DIY plans, or getting someone else to erect the structure for you, there are a number of considerations when building a fixed gazebo in your backyard. We’ve compiled the top 5 things you should keep an eye on, from planning through to construction.
1. Make Sure You’re Allowed To Build The Structure
Before any work begins, you need to check if — and what — you can build on your land.
For many homeowners, there is little or no barrier to building a permanent fixed structure on their own property. Garages, carports, and patios are all allowed. However, there are restrictions on where the structure can be built, how large it can be, and most importantly, how tall it can be.
You may find it hard to find gazebos mentioned specifically. For example, Brisbane City Council doesn’t list gazebos in their residential structures approval page. But looking through the restrictions on other structures will give you a clear idea of what limitations may be imposed on your gazebo — or at least, whether you’ll need to bother asking permission.
2. Thoroughly Assess Where You Want to Build
You have a large, sweeping backyard. There’s plenty of space. You contact a builder and tell them you want to put up a gazebo. They come over, take one look at the yard, and tell you it’s probably not going to happen.
Or at least, not affordably.
Your gazebo needs a relatively level, flat area to sit on. If your property is on a steep, sloping hill, it’s still possible to put up a gazebo — but it’s going to drastically increase the cost.
Avoid low-lying areas of your property where water will tend to collect. Adequate drainage is key to the longevity of your gazebo.
Try not to place the gazebo near young trees. As the trees grow, their expanding trunks and root systems could severely interfere with the structure. Either remove the trees, or find somewhere else.
Keep in mind where the gazebo is going, and how that may interfere with foot traffic through the yard. Will people be inclined to make a shortcut through a garden bed to get to the gazebo? Will they need to walk on uneven or less than ideal terrain to get to it? The last thing you want is someone spraining an ankle getting there.
One of the most important things, which many people overlook, is to consider the function of the gazebo. If you want people to use it for social functions or a meeting place, you want it to be easily accessible and centrally located. Perhaps set it next to the pool, or near the middle of the yard, with easy access to the house so food, cutlery and crockery can be taken out for meals.
3. Research Styles
We typically think of a gazebo as a fairly simple structure — a floor, posts, a roof, that’s about it. But modern gazebos come in all sorts of styles, designs, and materials.
Homedit has a great gallery of different gazebo looks for you to consider. From the ultra-traditional to the ultra-modern, gazebos have come a long way from their classical roots.
One of the most striking — if perhaps counterintuitive — designs on the list is the glass cube design. Perfect for protecting you from rain while soaking up the sun rays, it’s certainly remarkable.

Or adding a gazebo as an extension to a porch, adding not just to the aesthetics of your yard, but your home as well.
Don’t get stuck in a rut of traditional designs. Sometimes a few creative touches can make the world of difference.
4. Be Careful With Your Foundations
Gazebos sometimes come with a floor, either in their design or in a prefabricated DIY kit. You cannot just place this floor anywhere.
Ideally, you should place a gazebo on a concrete slab. Whether the gazebo comes with a floor, or the slab itself serves as a floor, it’s the safest bet for security and stability. Unfortunately it also means calling someone from the local council to mark where your power, water and plumbing is so you don’t accidentally hit anything.
Gazebos that come with floors can also be set up on crushed stone pads. These can be easier and more cost-effective to install, and still provide good stability. The crushed stone pad base should be designed a good 12” wider than the floor of the gazebo for stability, and be built with a level frame of 4×4 or 4×6 pressure-treated lumber.
5. Use Roof Shingles For The Roof
Many gazebos in Australia are designed with thatched roofs to create a Bali hut feel. It’s an incredibly popular look across the country, particularly near the coastlines.
Tumblr media
But there are a few problems with thatch roofs. They fall apart, they require a lot of maintenance, they often end up as homes for birds, and they’re a major fire hazard in many parts of the county. Considering the intensifying bushfire seasons across Australia, saying goodbye to thatch may be a smart move.
We recommend asphalt roof shingles for gazebos. Partially, because we’re biased — but they do create an aesthetically pleasing finish to your gazebo without the maintenance and fire risks. As a bonus, they’re suitable for almost every design of gazebo — unless you want a Bali hut or glass box, admittedly.
Asphalt roof shingles provide excellent waterproofing, will withstand the harsh environment of Australia, and will keep your structure intact for many years to come.
