When you think of a bromeliad, you probably don't think of something that looks like this. Bromeliads of the genus Sincoraea are among some of the strangest that I've ever seen. Almost all are endemic to Bahia, Brazil, where this one was found (one lives in Minas Gerais), mostly from the campo rupestre habitat. They remind me of sea anemones or starfish on the rocks!

Plant of the Day
Monday 3 June 2024
In a tropical glasshouse of the David Welch Winter Gardens at Duthie Park, Aberdeen, a collection of bromeliads were thriving in the warm, humid growing conditions. As epiphytes, plants that grow on other plants, bromeliads have a 'well' in the centre of the rosette that fills with water.

The Amazonian Jewel aviary has this orange coloured Andean Cock-of-the rock which I spotted from afar but my lousy point and shoot camera could not afforded a decent closeup shot. So you have to settle for this Toucan (or maybe not) and Hyacinth Macaw which was actually found in the Crimson Wetlands avairy.

Hero Form Appearance: A combination of a traveling fantasy bard and YuYuYu’s Hero Form outfits. The undersuit of the outfit is a jet black, which helps the main outfit’s vibrant palette stand out more. The main outfit is a solid green in the middle, but as you near the collar, lower half of the sleeves, lower half of the pants, and the tailcoat, you can see the palette shifts to yellow, then orange, followed by red and pink, and finally maroon- reflecting the colors of real world bromeliads. The accent colors are black, white, gray, blue, and violet- as well as gold and silver. The boots, gloves, belt, and scarf (Which remains unchanged) all have subtle patterns themed around the bromeliad. The only other accessory is a bromeliad themed hairpin in Jaguar’s hair. The flower’s petal shape can be seen in the sleeves, pants, collar, and the tailcoat.
Full Bloom Gauge Location: Left Shoulder
Guardian: Voddy (Based on the Vodyanoy)

Bio: Jaguar Junichi is a strange young man who likes to play the recorder and is considered an eccentric musical genius by many. He and Piyohiko are roommates in Gari Dormitories, where he runs a recorder class and both are the main protagonists of Pyu to Fuku! Jaguar.

Indoor jungle 🌿
I thinned out the large terrarium a few days ago. The plan was actually to dismantle it soon, but sitting in front of it now, I still think it's quite nice.
I'd like to have one of those great DOOA Paluda 30 / 60 systems, but somehow they're always sold out in Germany 😂
