Dr. Caitlin Alexander Fairchild was just your run of the mill scientific prodigy, accruing degrees in subjects as far-ranging as computer science, literature, and genetic engineering, with more in the works on the day she died.

Not long after, the reappearance of Dr. Fairchild--now seeming in the employ of NOWHERE--raised some eyebrows, but otherwise was explained away as Caitlin taking after her mother in pursuit of more exciting, dubiously ethical work. The truth was Dr. Fairchild had been assassinated by Deathstroke and the version working for NOWHERE was a clone.

With the help of fellow subject Superhuman, Fairchild broke programming and returned to civilization, attempting to rebuild what she could of her old life. Only, things were different now. Caitlin was not a one-to-one duplicate of her original self, but a modified metahuman version of the “GenActive” sub-group. Activated as she escaped with Lara, Caitlin discovered her power transformed her into a bigger, stronger body.

Free of NOWHERE and unable to locate her mother, she decided instead to seek out other Gen-Actives instead, starting with the other children of Team 7 members: Sarah Rainmaker, Percival Edmund Chang, Roxanne Spaulding, Celine Patterson, and Robert Lane.

Genact

Cher journal,

Hier, j'assistais à une réunion avec PPCCAF à Santa Barbara. Il était 2 heures de mon bureau! Normalement, je ne vais pas aux réunions si loin de moi. Mais j'avais besoin de représenter le VCRRN en tant que président. Et j'avais besoin de réseauter avec d'autres féministes.

Au cours de la réunion, j'ai rencontré le président de GenAction à UCSB. Son prénom est Madison. Elle est latine, mais son petit ami est ... une féministe anglaise? Il l'aide à diriger GenAction. Est-ce que cela semble familier? Cela me rappelle GenAction à CSUCI en 2015. La présidente était Latina et son petit ami était une féministe anglaise. Dieu, ces jours me manquent. Les jours étaient si simples.

J'ai rencontré la plupart des membres de GenAction à UCSB. Ils sont optimistes et motivés. J'espère qu'ils sont toujours optimistes et motivés. À Los Angeles, je connais beaucoup de gens. Ils sont intelligents. Ils ont des diplômes d'écoles célèbres. Mais ils n'ont pas de carrière stable. Ils ont du mal à trouver un emploi. Ou s'ils trouvent un emploi, ils le perdent après seulement un an.

Malheureusement, ils ont une caractéristique commune. Ils travaillent dans la recherche universitaire ou "nonprofit". À l'avenir, je veux travailler à nouveau dans des "nonprofit" . Mais je dois être confiant que mon travail dans une "nonprofit" sera stable. J'accepterai le travail si je suis unique et irremplaçable. Par exemple, peut être que je développe des chatbots pour l'éducation sexuelle. Sinon, je n'accepterai pas le travail. J'ai eu assez d'emplois instables. Ils m'ont fait perdre quelqu'un que j'ai aimé. Je ne dois pas répéter cette erreur.

J'espère qu'être président du VCRRN facilitera ma carrière. Pour être honnête, je ne veux pas être président. Mais tout le monde dans le VCRRN est vieux. Ils ne veulent pas être président. Ainsi, je dois me lever et assumer la responsabilité. Au moins, je peux aider à moderniser le VCRRN. Nous avons désespérément besoin de nouvelles technologies. Nous avons besoin d'un nouveau site Web et de nouveaux médias sociaux.

Être président apportera beaucoup d'attention à moi. J'espère que je ne m'embarrasserai pas. Dans le passé, j'ai embarrassé des personnes que j'ai aimées. C'était parce que je n'étais pas mature. Peut-être que je devrais voir ma présidence comme un test. Si je réussis à être un bon président, je saurai que je suis mature. Je saurai que je suis enfin une personne normale. Je suis intéressé de voir les résultats des prochains mois.
