-- Dates with your partner are the best. What better way to commemorate your time together than a photo? Also, you need him to take a decent picture of you; A new background/profile is in order. Is he up to the task?
Characters: Diluc, Kaeya, Childe, Zhongli, Thoma, Ayato (ft. GN!Reader)
Notice: SFW.
╰ ☆ ╮
Tumblr media
Diluc
Struggles to take a decent photo at first but, eventually gets the hang of it; Most of them turn out pretty good with the lighting framing you perfectly and the angle makes you look stunning—He sends the photo to himself as well and, he finds himself looking at it whenever he’s away for work.
.
Kaeya
Makes it look like he’s taking a photo of you, but really, he’s taking a selfie. He gives you that knowing smirk and just before he returns the phone to you, he makes the newly taken photo of him your new background. He’ll ask bystanders to take a photo of you two and seconds before the picture is taken, Kaeya tilts your chin toward him and kisses you out of nowhere. Sneaky.
.
Childe
Is a butthead and asks for a kiss as payment before taking a photo. He makes a show of taking the perfect photo, and you believe him, since the camera flash went off and everything. The ginger-haired man stifles a laugh when you are greeted by a picture of an ugly dog; He's got the audacity to say it's you. Kill him.
.
Zhongli
Your phone doesn’t make it back to you. It falls out of his hands when someone accidentally bumps into him, sending the device tumbling unto the concrete; You both hear something crack. Just before he's about to pick it up, a car speeds along the road, and you tug the brunette out of the way instead of saving the remains of your phone. Get him some tea so he'll feel better.
.
Thoma
You are very, very lucky. The blonde takes your photos like a pro and even compiles a lovely aesthetic reel you can share on social media. You joke if he's worked as paparazzi before, and he merely laughs, flattered. He's patient and will take a lot of photos upon your request. Gets all flustered after you settle on a selfie of you two instead as your new profile.
.
Ayato
His photos always turn out blurry--You're lucky if you can even see your nose in the photo. Ultimately, has to swallow his pride and either has to ask some random person to take a photo of you two or have you take the selfie; He's embarrassed. Is silently wondering if you two should just go to an actual studio and get the photos done professionally.

Genshin Impact - Small things they do to show their love
notes : so i’ve been trying to think of an idea for a long story to write for one of the characters, but i’ve been having a little bit of trouble :( if anyone has any suggestions i’d love to hear them! hopefully i’ll be able to come out with an introduction or something soon
in the meantime i wrote this up, so i hope that you guys enjoy!
Genshin Masterlist
warnings : none
format : bulleted, headcanons. fluff
pairings : diluc, kaeya, childe, zhongli, xiao, albedo, aether x gn! reader
word count : 1426
everything under the cut-
Diluc:
during your nightly walks around mondstadt, he notices how chills can rack your body, especially when the wind blows
he’ll remove his jacket and drape it around your form, no matter how much you may protest
sometimes his arms will circle around your waist, drawing you towards him in an effort toto keep you warm until you get home
if you’ve been out adventuring close to the dawn winery, he’d invite you to the manor to share a meal or drink, whichever you’d like
whatever you desire, he’ll see to it that you receive it – most of the time he wouldn’t even ask you due to how well he can read you and your actions
when you try to refuse his offers, he’ll tell you ‘just let me look after you, my love’
when you come to visit him in the angel’s share, he always has a seat ready just for you
he’ll keep a blanket and some books under the bar, since he knows how you like to curl up in the corner, engrossed in your reading
if you’d like he’ll come and sit with you for a short while, bringing a drink of your choice over while you tell each other about your day
Kaeya:
kaeya is the kind of man to call you every pet name under the sun
whether it be sweetheart, darling, love etc. he loves to use these types of names for you frequently, as a form of affection
he loves your reactions to them, especially when your cheeks flare up and you turn away out of shyness – he finds it extremely endearing
he would offer to train you in swordsmanship, regardless of whether you can already wield a sword or not
he likes to not only see your strength grow, but also offer you a way to protect yourself since he cannot be with you at all times
kaeya takes pride in the training sessions you have, after all they give him another reason to spend even more time with you
he loves for you guys to have matching things, no matter how small they may be
for example, he’ll buy you a bracelet to wear, one that matches with one on his own wrist as well
jokingly he once bought you an eyepatch to match his, but he finds it sweet but hilarious when you’ll wear it around him sometimes
Childe:
since this man is a literal walking wallet, he has no problem with spoiling you with gifts
whether that be a necklace you’ve had your eye on, a new shirt because you ripped yours in battle, or a book he knows is the next in the series you enjoy
when asking him why he leaves you so many small gifts, his response is just ‘well, because i love you, of course!’
if you ever get hurt during a battle, he’ll be the first to help you
whether that be taking down the enemies if you haven’t already, or tending to the wounds you’ve received
he’d work with utmost caution, wrapping each wound gently and finishing them off with a kiss on top
when strolling the streets of liyue together, childe ensures that your body is connected to his one way or another at all times
whether that be intertwining your hands together, an arm loosely wrapped around your waist, or stopping to give you a brief peck on the forehead
he has no qualms in showing the public that you’re his – something he makes you well aware of
Zhongli:
he knows you love when he tells you stories of his past and the history of liyue, and he enjoys telling you about them
he finds the childlike wonder in your eyes adorable as he tells you tales of adepti and archons alike
zhongli will try his best to make them as entertaining as possible for you – drawing you in with every word he uttered
he likes to play with your hair, and for you to do the same to him
if you have longer hair you can guarantee he’d be braiding and styling your hair in all different ways, adorning it with hairpins he’d purchase for you
if your hair is on the shorter side then he’d love to run his fingers through, stroking your hair and massaging your scalp until you fall asleep with your head against his chest
if there is anything in particular that you take a big interest in, zhongli will try his best to research around it – even though he probably has the knowledge anyways
he wants to be able to talk to you about things you’re interested in, as well as share in the enjoyment that you get from it
he would leave small notes to you when he can’t always be around you, sometimes with small facts he learned of
Xiao:
he would for sure watch over you if you ever go on a long adventure, no matter what other duties he may have to attend to
expect to see a good few hilichurl and treasure hoarder camps abandoned thanks to his interference
‘anything to ensure your safety’, he thinks
some nights, when his duties have been fulfilled early, he’ll try his hand at preparing a meal for you to share
of course nothing especially fancy! After all he doesn’t have to eat himself – its all for your enjoyment
if he struggles he’d probably reach out to verr goldet some help
just imagine him setting a small picnic up on the wangshu inn rooftop iM WEAK
once xiao finally becomes accustomed to physical contact, he’d make an effort to hold your hand a lot more often
lightly squeezing it or tracing shapes with his thumb every now and again
if you’re lucky he way even take his gloves off – just to feel that warmth from his hand can be very comforting indeed
Albedo:
you’re literally the only person he will listen to when he is engrossed in his experiments
as we know he tends to block out the rest of the world when he is deep in though
but as soon as he hears your voice of concern asking if he’ll take a break to eat, you wanna bet he’ll be leaving his office in an instant to join you for lunch
he does the exact same for you when you’re hard at work, so he appreciates the way you always look after him
when out looking for more specimens to analyse, he stumbles across his fair share of flowers
of course he knows which are your favourites – he knows everything about you, after all – so he’ll be sure to pick some to bring home to you
when giving them to you, he mentions ‘well, they reminded me of you, so i thought you’d like them’
if you ever get ill for some reason, albedo becomes your personal doctor
he’ll spend hours preparing serums and medicines for you to alleviate your pain – but will never let you out of his sight while doing so
he’ll ask noelle if she can fix up some food for you in the meantime, since at every free opportunity he’s sat at your bedside, hand in yours as he whispers words of comfort to you
Aether:
aether is always ready to make you something to eat whenever you’d like!
he for sure has a small section of his brain dedicated to learning of recipes that he knows you enjoy, no matter how simple or complicated they may be
will make sure that you always have some lunch ready to take with you wherever you go, even if it means he had to wake up early and travel halfway across teyvat to bring it to you
he will bring you back numerous treasures from his travels
sometimes he’ll ask the locals in whichever area he’s in if they can craft the raw materials into something that you can treasure
there would be a shelf in your room specifically for aether’s gifts, where he’ll occasionally point to each one and tell you the story of how it made it’s way back to you
he makes sure to let you know how grateful he is to have you by his side
every time you do something for him, no matter how small it may be, he’ll thank you and let you know how much you mean to him
when on his travels he makes sure to write letters and send them home to you – just because he’s far away doesn’t mean he’s not still thinking about you

What Pet/Nick Names Would Genshin Men Use? (Headcanons)
Can be platonic or romantic. Please forgive any inaccuracies.
Characters (in order): Childe, Venti, Kazuha, Xiao, Bennett, Kaeya, Aether, Diluc, Razor, Xingqiu, Zhongli
Side note: Not all of these are gender-neutral. I try to include a variety of gendered and non-gendered pet names, but I wasn't being super consistent with it. Also the missing characters are because I don't know them well enough to write them.
Childe:
Well, we all know he addresses you as comrade, but that's not really a pet name, now is it? I think he would use pet names that seem kind of mocking or teasing, but in a flirtatious and competitive way. Silly things like "Wonderboy" and the like. I see him as generally being pretty bratty, but if he's being serious, I can see him using "snowflake" as a term of endearment. (Or an insult tbh lmaoo)
Venti:
He's a bard, which is the number 1 criteria for a sappy, sickeningly sweet nickname. Dandelion, My Beloved, Dearest are all things I could see him saying. I think he'd put extra emphasis on it just for a little irony, since we all know he's a bit mischievous and would probably think people cringing at his pet names is funny.
Kazuha:
I can't see him using many pet names, despite being so poetic. He'd probably stick with the classic "love." I think his verbal affection would lie in his words to you, rather than how he would address you. "Your passion carries with the wind, and its song will always reach my ears, no matter how great the distance between us, my love." Or something sappy and poetic like that.
Xiao:
This is a hard one. I'm not very familiar with Xiao, but the general consensus I've seen is that he's tsundere or kuudere-esque. Based on that alone, I think he'd mostly address you by name, but if you got him to open up more, he'd say something simple yet meaningful , like "friend." He's such a closed off person, even him admitting friendship to you– (despite you obviously having something more) would be a major accomplishment.
Bennett (platonic):
Buddy, bud, brother, sister. General childish-but-friendly nicknames for people, nothing special. Maybe even a nickname relevant to your vision (ex: Sparky for Electro)
Kaeya:
Pet, prince/princess, doll, love. He's a cool, confident guy so he would have no issue using pet names with you. My fair lady, Prince Charming, and other similar pet names are also a candidate. He kind of speaks to people in a subtly degrading way, too, where it feels a little backhanded, so that's something else to keep in mind. I could also see him start calling a domineering partner "Captain" that started as a joke. "I thought I was supposed to be the captain?"
Aether:
I could see him start calling you whatever ugly nickname Paimon gave you as a joke. He wouldn't mean it, of course, and he'd only use it if you understood that well. I could see him going with the "sweetheart" or "precious" card too. As a traveler, he might pull out regional things for nicknames. For example, if you're a hot-headed or passionate person, he might call you a Jueyun Chili. Mostly joking nicknames, since he's a little silly goofy, but he's still kind-hearted.
Diluc:
Love, beautiful, handsome. I can't see him using anything more elaborate than that. He's very to-the-point and doesn't seem to be super emotional or anything. Very objective and straightforward– he loves you and that's what he is portraying.
Razor (platonic):
He has limited vocabulary, so I can only see him calling you friend, and maybe partner.
Xingqiu:
This might be controversial, but if there's a character that will call you "babe," it's this lad. I don't know why, it just seems like he would. He would probably come up with some literature reference nickname for you too, similar to how some people compare themselves and their lover to Romeo and Juliet. I think he'd pull out the flower nicknames too, for added flavor. And, of course, prince/princess/king/queen and other comically formal titles. It would be a joke for the most part, since he likes speaking with formality.
Zhongli:
Love, dear, dearest. I could hear him calling you Treasure, which is apparently an actual Chinese term of endearment! I think that's super cute. Also his line "One man's stone is another man's gem" I could totally see him calling you his gem. Not implying that you were stone to someone else, of course, it's just a term of endearment.

Perfume.
--You missed him terribly and you couldn't help but hold onto one of his pressed shirts. Your brows furrowed as you catch a whiff of something odd. What is that? Last time, he never wore such a fragrance? He can't be possibly--
Characters: Diluc, Kaeya, Childe, Zhongli (ft. F!Reader)
Notice: SFW.
╰ ☆ ╮
Tumblr media
Diluc
It takes a while for you to bring up the subject, seeing as the red-haired man was always busy with his business or patrolling the streets of Mondstadt. But your relationship was also important, right? Surely, he wouldn't get too upset if you asked about the scent that seemed to be clinging to his shirt.
Diluc notices the slight change in your demeanour, how can he not when he catches you opening your mouth but ultimately closing it, allowing your thoughts to remain unsaid. Your usual smile is plastered on your face, yet he can feel your longing eyes following as he leaves for the day to work.
The two of you continue to walk around eggshells until you bring it up. He is sitting on his side of the bed, taking off his heavy coat and unbuttoning the top buttons of his dress shirt. The redhead was careful not to disturb you, but you had been awake ever since he had entered the room. You remain still with your eyes closed, feigning sleep. It was when you took note of the aromatic Cecilia’s and the spice of fresh citrus wafting under your nose when you finally shifted.
Within the next minute, you struggled to keep your eyes closed and maintain a calm mind. It was as if the fragrance became much more potent as you struggled to reign in the dread pooling at the pit of your stomach. Breaking the facade, you slowly push down the blanket off of yourself, afraid that any sudden movement may set him off.
"You weren't asleep?"
"Where were you?" You purposefully ignore his question with one of your own.
A scoff was all you heard from the opposite side all the while you could feel his eyes on your back as you sit up.
"I was with Jean."
You tightened your hold over the blanket, struggling to calm the racing thoughts going through your mind. A moment of silence passes and you swear you could hear a pin drop as neither of you spoke. Steeling yourself, you turned towards him causing the cotton sheets to pool over your waist. You could barely keep your voice from trembling as you meet his blazing eyes before pressing on. "For the whole day?"
"Why are you asking me that?" Frustration bled into his tone as he ruffled his hair.
"Were you with her until now?" You kept a soft tone, fearing if you spoke louder he would hear the slight tremble in your voice.
"I was with her briefly. I don't see why that matters."
"Am I not allowed to ask?" You pressed on even as his jaw tightens and his fierce eyes stared you down. "I-it's just that you smell different."
Diluc freezes. Did you go too far? Damn, you shouldn't have confronted him like this and now the tension engulfed the bedroom.
"Are you accusing me of cheating?"
"I--" You began as you averted your eyes towards your lap. With a shake of your head, your fingers clutched at the cotton sheets to ground yourself. "Of course not, Diluc. It's just--"
A calloused hand slowly engulfed your own gingerly making you look up. You hadn't noticed that your lover had moved closer. His handsome face had lost its irritable expression and replaced with a cautious look. The red-haired tycoon had always been easy to anger and awkward when it came to expressing himself. Although he isn't considered to be the most extroverted person in Mondstandt, Diluc was still human and he's already lost so many things in the past. He didn't want you to be merely one distant memory because of a misunderstanding.
"Just a moment."
You watch your lover retrieve something from the pocket of his trousers. He unravels his palm to reveal a small vial the size of his thumb. Diluc reaches behind you to untangle your hair gently before uncorking the small glass container. The mixed fragrance of Cecelias and citrus hits you as he pours a few drops unto the palms of his hands. He tenderly combs through your hair with his fingers to reassure you.
"I gathered Cecilias with Jean then commissioned the Chief Alchemist for this," Diluc says as he finally finishes applying the oil to your hair. "He had been extracting and refining the oil from the flowers and fruits in the past week."
Your lover replaces the cork and drops the vial into your hand. Upon further inspection, you saw small yet elegant vines and your initials etched into the glass.
"It's a gift." You gave Diluc a bewildered expression before he supplies. "Your birthday is approaching. I remember you have a fondness for the Cecilia flowers."
You feel your cheeks flush as a mix of embarrassment and shame come over you. You hadn't even remembered that your birthday was fast approaching, your thoughts filled with anxiety and dread. It was reckless of you to assume that the red-haired man had been seeing someone behind your back when instead he had been preparing something for you. What's more, it's that his gift--that was supposed to be a surprise--was spoiled.
"I'm sorry, Diluc. I ruined your surprise. " You hold onto his wrist, trying to formulate your words carefully as remorse hung over your form.
"I wasn't thinking properly! A-And your shirt!" You lower your teary eyes as a rush of words left your mouth. "I-I was afraid you would be upset if I asked but at the same time I couldn't stop thinking that maybe--maybe you were getting tired of me."
You pathetically sniffle and wipe at the stray tears with the palm of your hand. Unused to comforting another, it took a few moments for the redhead to wrap his arms around your form almost hesitantly. A clumsy hand caressed between your shoulder blades as you buried your face into his shoulder.
"It's alright, Darling. I understand your worries." He spoke in the same gruff voice but you could hear the difference as it changed into a softer tone. "I, too, would be suspicious if you smelled of another."
In response, Diluc tightens his grip around you and presses a kiss onto your temple as a means to signal his forgiveness. You separate yourself from the man to allow him to finish undressing for bed. Glancing at the vial that was on your lap, you gingerly placed it on your bedside table.
"Diluc?" You feel your lover tug you closer towards himself, feeling his inviting warmth as you both settle comfortably under the sheets.
"Stay still." His voice fills your ear as his hair tickles your face ever so lightly. "You should get some sleep. It will be dawn soon."
The red-haired man drapes his arm around your waist, leaning in to bury his face unto your tresses. His grip remains as his breath evens out. You also feel the call of sleep beginning to take over you, unable to fight the exhaustion. The fragrance of Cecilas and tartness of citruses surround you two, lulling you both into a relaxed state of slumber.
.
Kaeya
You had been mulling over what you had come across almost a week ago. At first, you brushed away your suspicions but as the days passed, the memory of fruity apples and the delicate powdery scent of sweet flower clinging unto Kaeya’s shirt began to plague you.
It might be possible that your lover had purchased some perfume but you distinctly remember him saying that he wasn’t a fan of sweet things. And if he had bought it as a gift, it was already too late for your birthday or an anniversary for that matter. Now the question running through your mind had yet to be answered: “If not for you or himself then for whom?”
You throw yourself into taking up assigned commissions at the guild as a way to keep busy. There are days where you leave earlier than usual leaving the navy-blue-haired man still in bed. The captain of the knights of Favonius takes note of the drastic change. He’s tried to catch you but you were always either in a hurry or claim to be too busy to spend even a moment to chat with him.
You sometimes dreaded returning home, afraid that you may catch him flirting with someone who’s caught his eye. He was popular amounts the citizens of Mondstadt and you couldn’t bear to face the possibility that Kaeya may be losing interest in you. In a way, you thought busying yourself would allow you more time to think about how to approach the subject.
It was inevitable that the handsome man would be willing to help others—albeit to a certain extent. Kaeya will always be considered a charming flirt and you wouldn’t be surprised if he came into contact with someone needing help. Perhaps some damsel who accidentally tripped and he held her in his arms to keep her steady—his hold on her lingering longer than necessary.
You force yourself out of your thoughts as you tried to refocus on the task at hand: Locating a new encampment of Hilichurls and taking it out. Your thoughts occasionally wander even as you easily dispatch the stray slimes that taken to defending their territory. The day passes by and before you know it, you realize that the moon has risen and you were still in the outskirts of Mondstadt, having forgotten about dinner entirely. Deciding to return home, you will yourself to return to the flat you shared with Kaeya.
It’s one of the many nights that you had been returning quite late and you either hope that he was still at the knight’s headquarters finishing up some report or still at Angel’s Share catching up with Rosaria and talking off the ear of his poor brother. You close the door behind you but immediately startle when you notice a familiar figure, sitting comfortably on the sofa as if he’s been anticipating your arrival, wine glass in hand.
“You’ve been out late, sweetheart.” A faint smile appears on that handsome face of his but you can feel the tension rolling off him. “I was wondering where you had been this whole day.”
“Just taking care of a commission from the guild.” You try to answer casually, carefully removing your sword, hanging it on a nearby hook before glancing at your partner. “You didn’t have to stay up and wait for me to return.”
“Ah, but I haven’t seen you for a while.” Kaeya takes another sip from his wine glass as he trains his uncovered eye on you.
The male had noted your odd behaviour, you would have joined him on the coach already and taken a swig from his glass but you remain rooted by the entrance of the hallway. Unfortunately, you could distinctly smell the combination of apples and sweet flowers in the air and it made you cautious. He watches as you take a seat at a nearby stool to take off your shoes as if it took a great amount of concentration.
“I picked up some sticky honey roast. Just in case you haven’t had dinner yet.”
“Ah, thank you.”
“You’re acting quite odd.” Kaeya narrows his eye ever so slightly before finally settling his glass of wine on a nearby table.
“Uhm…I’m just tired, that’s all.” You try to give him a grin as you walk over to the kitchen only to see the dish that your lover had mentioned a few seconds ago. “You didn't have to wait—”
The Captain of the Knights of Favonius had quietly followed you into the kitchen and now stood quite close to you. He had been so quiet that you were unable to even hear him close the distance between you two. You try to take a step back, placing some distance between the two of you, feeling a bit conscious at how his hair had caressed your cheek softly.
“W-What’s gotten into you, Kaeya?”
“I could ask you the same thing, sweetheart.” He drawls as he moves closer, trapping you against the counter. “You’ve been avoiding me for a while now.”
“I-I’m not.”
“Oh?” He smiles amusedly at your feeble attempt, pressing himself against your chest causing a furious flush on your face. “You haven’t even given me a kiss when you arrived. Even most suspicious of all, you're calling me by my name.”
“You’re being preposterous.” You struggle to compose yourself as one of his hands caress your cheek, turning your face ever so slightly towards him while his other hand rests on your waist. You find his periwinkle eye staring you down and you couldn’t help but hold your breath.
“Aren’t you going to tell me what’s bothering you these past few days?”
The sly man had positioned your hands on his chest, allowing you the choice to push him away but also feel closer to him. You feel his thumb rubbing soothing circles against your waist as you struggle to formulate the words.
“K-kaeya, Are you seeing someone?" Your nose is filled with that distinct fragrance that you unintentionally blurt out your thoughts.
“What?” The man immediately stiffens and stares at you as if you had grown another head. “What are you talking about?”
“The perfume.” You feel annoyance take over as you try not to glare at your lover who seemed quite confused. “It’s been all over your clothes and I just—“
The expression on his face changed into disbelief before morphing into amusement which only made you all the more irritated and you hold yourself back from landing a hit against his chest. The man dares to laugh at your expense and you can’t help but cross your arms in front of your chest, waiting for him to tell you what exactly was so funny.
“Oh wait till Lisa hears about this.” Kaeya shakes his head in amusement as he engulfs you in a hug, pressing his face against your hair. “The perfume is supposed to attract Crystalflies."
“Albedo has requested that I gather a few Crystal Cores to prepare a few potions when he ventures off to Dragonspine.” The tanned man glances at your stunned visage before sneakily placing a kiss on the corner of your lips. You feel your face turn red as you struggle to process the information he had provided you. “Were you perhaps thinking that I was seeing someone else?”
“Kaeya, I’m sorry. I didn’t reali—“
“You wound me, Princess.” He cuts you off with a sigh as he tries to maneuver you into hugging him in which you allow. “Do you doubt in me that much?"
You couldn’t help but pout but ultimately, it was your fault for thinking that he would be capable of doing such a thing. Sighing softly, you tighten your hold around your lover as you bury your face into his chest, mumbling apologies.
“I’m sorry for being suspicious, Kaeya.” You place a chaste kiss against the side of his jaw before continuing. “I suppose, I was feeling a bit insecure and my thoughts got the best of me.”
“It’s alright. I’ve experienced that a handful of times as well.” The young man gave you a brief squeeze before flashing you an amused smile as he allows you to separate from him. “I wouldn’t want you in the arms of some stranger other than me.”
You can always count on the Cavalry Captain of the Knights to make some flirty remark after clearing out a misunderstanding. Truly, you had been blessed by the Archons to have such a partner who was willing to listen to your grievances and proving your worries to be nothing more but a figment of your imagination. Yes, Kaeya was a horrible flirt but he was always quick to reassure you.
As you settle down to dinner, the navy-blue-haired man joined you at the table as he uncorked the bottle of wine that he had been nursing. You eye him suspiciously as he sits down right across you, that knowing smirk plastered on his face as he hums a cheery tune.
“On the topic of grievances,” That damned periwinkle eye of his flashed in delight as he rested his elbows on the table. “I would like to know if you will be returning my shirts sometime soon.”
Your face ignites into a rosy hue as you almost drop the fork you had been holding.
"Don’t think I don’t know about your fascination with smelling my clothes.”
The man can’t help but tease you as you struggle to formulate a reply. Oh, he’ll get his shirt back alright—Right after you fling it in his handsome, smug face.
.
Childe
With a wave of your hand and a smile on your lovely face, you send your lover off as he leaves for the day. You make your way back into the home you both shared and began taking care of a few menial tasks before settling down with a book and cup of tea. After straightening the bedsheets, you began collecting the laundry basket, keeping an eye out for any wayward clothes that haven't made it into the hamper.
You find one of Childe's extra jackets tucked in a hidden corner of the living room, and you couldn't help but bury your face into the fabric. You immediately pick up on the warm spice of Almonds and Valberries. You pull away before feeling a sneeze coming up. You had a sensitive nose, and perfumes were something you avoided.
It was rather odd, usually, the ginger-haired man smelled of the greenery and his musk that smelled akin to fresh spice. Why was it concealed as if your lover hadn't wished for it to be found?
Before engaging in a relationship with Childe, you had been prepared to accept the idea of your significant other having to hide his dealings from you--He is part of the Fatui, after all. But the thought still hurt.
You argue that he was a busy man and had to deal with various people. There was no need to be too suspicious, he isn't one to bend to the will of others. You carry on with the day's tasks, deciding to put the thought of his jacket smelling of something or someone else at the back of your mind.
A month has passed and unfortunately there you could still find traces of the fragrance and it lingered on his clothes longer. There are days that you catch him, leaning a bit too close to the Wangsheng Funeral Parlour's Consultant to whisper in his ear or trailing his hands on the arms of the infamous Traveler who struggled with using a bow and arrow. Over time, you felt an odd sensation in the pit of your stomach, it was only today you had come to realize that you were jealous and you would not stand for it any longer.
Taking a seat at the kitchen table, you began to brew yourself a cup of tea, glancing at the nearby clock before thinking of ways to possibly bring up the subject with the ginger-haired man. Minutes turned into hours and you eventually hear footsteps come to a halt in front of the door before it opens to reveal Childe. He is faintly surprised to find you sitting in the kitchen instead of the living room couch.
"Am I in trouble?" He jokingly asks and you fight the twitch on your smiling mouth. "Is everything alright, Girlie?"
"Are you hungry, Childe?" You ignore his question and instead get up to start preparing him a plate of dinner. It was Qingce Stir Fry with a side of Miso soup. "Come sit down. We have much to talk about."
Your lover cannot help but feel slightly unnerved by your response but he follows along and takes a seat across the table. The harbinger feels a chill run down his spine as you turn towards him, placing the food in front of him before taking a seat, this time the ever-present smile on your face not reaching your eyes. You had been generous enough to provide him utensils and it made him wonder what he has done to receive your ire.
"How was your day?" You ask as you lift your teacup to your lips, eyes closing as the warm liquid eased down your throat.
"Erm...Busy as always." He begins as he tentatively takes a forkful of the vegetables.
"Oh? What did you do today?" You place your cup down to the side, leaning against the back of your chair. "Did you do anything special today?"
"I was with Zhongli-sensei." He replies truthfully all the while still treading carefully as he notices the slight furrow on your brows. "I accompanied him to gather some items."
"Did you now."
Zhongli. The consultant from the Funeral Parlor. The man had proved to be an informative individual as well as an excellent counsellor to others--especially the Liyue Qixing. The two had been quite close with each other ever since the Rite of Descension a few months ago. Zhongli was handsome, mysterious and elegant in all manners. You had met the man and not even you were exempt from his charms. Of course, Childe would keep him company. You hadn't noticed the silence that settled between you and the ginger-haired man and he had been observing the slight changes of expressions on your face.
"What's wrong?" The question forces you out of your thoughts and you glance back to see blue eyes from across the table.
You take a few seconds to ponder but ultimately decide to be straightforward. It has been weeks and if you chose to drag this any longer, you surely would have gone mad. There had always been a possibility that Childe would be upset but you would let the Archons decide the outcome of this potential argument.
"I would like to know about the scent that has been lingering on your clothes." You stare him down, unable to hide the sharpness of your words as you remain still on your seat. "Childe, are you seeing someone else?"
The harbinger pauses for a moment before a chuckle bubbles past his lips, eyes crinkled even as you remain stoic. Hearing your lover laughing was enough to make your blood simmer. He thinks your predicament is funny and you have never wished anything more than to fling the teacup in your hand at his attractive face. He rests his elbows on the table, eying you with a coy grin, as he taps his cheek with a gloved finger.
"Are you asking me that?" He smiles as he reaches for your hand that was tightly wrapped around the porcelain cup. He easily uncurls your fingers and instead tenderly links them with his own. "If it eases your mind, I was out gathering ingredients for an old tea recipe Zhongli-sensei had suggested."
"For a month?"
"Zhongli-sensei had been helping me prepare it. You know he isn't one to cut corners when it involves decades-old tea recipes." Childe releases your hand to reach into his jacket pocket to reveal a small tin that was delicately wrapped into your empty hand. "It's supposed to have many health benefits and will help you sleep better at night."
"I--" You stare at the simple but thoughtful gift before meeting stormy azure orbs. "Thank you."
You lower your head, feeling horrible for treating your companion so harshly. The pit in your stomach remains as you try your best to form more words of apology. You knew an "I'm sorry" was not going to cut it seeing as you questioned his trust in you. For a few moments, you struggle with yourself as you hold the tin of tea in your hand.
"I'm sorry for doubting you." The words came out softly as you shake your head, disappointed in both your thoughts and actions. "I don't know what came over me. I shouldn't have been so suspicious of you."
Surely, your lover could have paid others to both gather and prepare the gift but it meant much more, knowing that he had done the work himself. It was a small but kind gift--that of itself was enough for you.
"It happens to the best of us." The harbinger chuckles softly as he reaches for your hand once more, this time you meet him halfway as he begins to rub circles against the top of your hand. "I'm curious though, did you think I was cheating on you with Zhongli-sensei?”
"W-well! It's not my fault that you choose to be in the company of attractive people." You couldn't help but stutter, feeling embarrassment and humiliation colouring your cheeks as you try to gather the dishes in front of him in the pretense of hiding your reddening face. Turning away from the harbinger, you set out to wash the porcelain dishes "Anyway, it's late. Why don't you get ready for bed.”
"Hmm..." Childe slowly rises from his chair--expecting him to walk away towards the bathroom--but you are engulfed by a hug. You feel the dastardly man place a kiss on the crown of your head with a resounding smack. It was then followed by his gloved fingers digging into your ticklish sides causing you to squirm in his tight hold. "You know, you look very cute when you're flustered."
"Unhand me you brute."
"No." You huff and struggle against him until you recognize that the man was not releasing you anytime soon. You feel his fingers slowly tugging at your waistband and his voice in your ear.
"Weren't you so adamant about getting rid of that unusual scent on me?" You can feel the cockiness seeping into his tone, making you squirm. "Why not join me in the shower? I'd appreciate the extra help."
You merely roll your eyes at him and flick the residual water from your fingertips. Not one to be one-upped, your lover sports that haughty smile--you recognize his no-good intentions, and before you get a word in--he has thrown you over his shoulder and making his way towards the bathroom.
.
Zhongli
You detect spicy notes of Jueyun Chilis and Glaze Lilies before you finally place the said articles of clothing near the fireplace. It was slightly unnerving considering the former Archon always smelled of fresh bergamot, sweet incense, and volcanic stone warmed by the sun. It's the type of fragrance you can describe when standing in the shade of a fruit tree as you stand over Liyue Harbor with the fresh sea breeze caressing your cheeks.
He had arrived half an hour earlier with his clothes soaked due to the sudden downpour of rain and you had offered to take his clothing to be dried. Currently, your lover was taking a much-needed bath after a long day of work at the Funeral Parlor. You were about to hang dry both his waistcoat and shirt when you noticed the luscious scent.
You easily brush it off. There had been instances where the consultant found himself at the marketplace, browsing the various stalls--with no wallet in hand, of course. It was a possibility that he had been a victim of some presumptuous merchant, urging him to try the newest perfume from a distant land before spraying it on him. You could picture it the moment he tries to locate his wallet in the hopes of purchasing such an ‘exquisite’ item but come on empty. You can’t help but sigh good-naturedly before preparing dinner—It was a common occurrence.
That was what you had thought a few weeks ago. Regrettably, the fragrance did not dissipate even after you had washed his clothes time and time again. Had he been frequenting the marketplace once more without your knowledge and purchased it? How come he hasn’t shown it to you though? You were sure he would have done so by now.
It was one of those days where you met him at the parlour before you both made your way to the Third-Round Knockout for dinner. Once you find yourself in front of his office, you knock once, twice, thrice even and you do not receive an answer. Carefully peeking in, you catch Zhongli and the familiar silhouette of the Liyue Qixing’s Tianquan seated across him. Hearing the movement of the door creaking, the two individuals inside the room looked up to find your astonished expression causing them to move apart.
Ningguang takes note of the time and rises from her seat, thanking the consultant for his insight and time before making her way out of the room. She gives you a smile and nod of acknowledgement—you cannot help but return the greeting with a small wave of your hand--before walking down the steps leaving out of the parlour. The instant she walked past, you are hit by the recognizable tang of sweet Glaze Lilies and the warm spice of Jueyun Chilies and you could not help but feel your stomach twist uncomfortably.
You could not remember the walk to the tavern, much less the responses you gave as the brunette tried to strike a conversation with you. Even as you sat down, you remain stiff with having a far-off gaze. The deep voice of Zhongli made you snap out of your trance-like state and you turned ever so slightly—he still exuded calmness and you couldn’t help but want to take him by the shoulder and demand an explanation.
“Is everything alright, Love?” He asked all the while looking concerned. “You’re pale.”
You almost flinch at the gloved hand that presses against your forehead. His hand lingers for a few seconds before you push it away, trying not to betray the conflict of emotions raging inside you.
“I’m fine.” You flash a reassuring smile as you try to pour the tea.
If Zhongli has detected a slight change in your expressions, he does not push any further and instead asks how your day has been. You try your hardest to engage yourself in the conversation but you can’t help but notice the fragrance from earlier clinging to him still as his hand brushed against yours. It was remarkable how an aroma could send you into a spiral of jealousy, distrust and worry.
Your conversation is cut short once the food arrived—the delightful scent of your favourite dish did not even induce your appetite. Your lover takes note of your very little to non-existing appetite as you choose to nurse your cup of tea instead.
“Darling, Are you not hungry? Come now you must eat.” He tries to feed you a spoonful of soup but you decline with a shake of your head.
“I had a bit of grilled Tiger Fish while I was on my way here so don’t mind me.”
“It’s rather odd.” The former Archon spoke after a pause. He lifts his questioning gaze towards you. Those glowing orbs never failed to have you catch your breath as they searched your own for an answer. “Usually you would have taken up my offer of me feeding you.”
“Uhm.” You supply rather inelegantly, trying to keep his gaze as yours began to waver.
“Neither did you take the seat beside me?” He places his utensils to the side, sharp and bright eyes never leaving yours. “Did I displease you in any sort of manner, My Love?”
“I’m—” You feel your voice squeak and you had to clear your throat before continuing. "What would you consider to be a betrayal of trust, Zhongli?"
“A betrayal of trust?” Confusion was apparent on the brunette’s visage as he tried to make sense of the sudden question but ultimately tried to formulate a response. “I suppose it would mean having done something that may affect others where one’s words and actions lose respect.”
“You think you haven’t done such a thing?” The inflection from your tone seemed to have caught him off guard, making him all the more curious.
“I’m afraid I am unable to follow. Would you mind elaborating, My Dear?”
You surely would have pulled your hair out from going insane whilst the man in front of you would remain as firm as the mountains, waiting for you to voice your thoughts. There was no point in dragging this any farther and you knew Zhongli wouldn’t have appreciated you both tiptoeing around the subject. Although the brunette had shed his mantle as Liyue’s Archon, he was still somewhat clueless when it came to human affairs.
“The scent that lingers on you.” You spoke but only loud enough for him to hear it. “It’s the same one Lady Ningguang has been wearing.”
“Ah, yes. She sent a few gifts to the parlour” Your lover merely blinks slowly at your observation, looking oblivious.
“How nice of her.” You were sure that the brunette could feel you glaring daggers at him but it seemed that he was rather unperturbed. “She picked it out herself?”
“Yes. She recommended the incense.” Zhongli takes a sip of his tea once more before adding. “The Director has taken a liking to it and has been burning it almost every day hence why it lingers quite a bit.”
Wait. Did that mean that he hadn’t been seeing the graceful platinum-haired Tianquan, besides on those business consultations? You immediately deflate as the man across you tilted his cup of tea, seemingly without a worry. You couldn’t help but gape at the brunette who took up his chopsticks to help himself to more Jade Parcels.
“I--erm.” You tried your best to verbalize your feelings and you can see the small crinkle in the corner of his gleeful eyes. “You were—“
“There’s nothing to be jealous of, Dearest.”
You had vehemently wished for the ground to open up and swallow you whole at that point. It would have been an ideal situation but it surely would have backfired—the former Archon of Geo would have easily split the earth and retrieved you from your hiding spot.
“Apologies, My Love.” Zhongli tries to placate you with a charming smile. “I couldn’t help myself.”
“Z-Zhongli.” You groan softly as you burry your flushed face into your palms. “You should have told me that earlier.”
Lithe fingers tried to pry your hands from your visage as your lover gave you another apology. You could only give the man beside you a half-hearted glare before he pressed a kiss on the back of your hand tenderly. With a shake of your head, you accept the apology with a peck on his cheek. You feel relieved as Zhongli cleared out any misunderstandings, even if it meant having to tease you even just a bit.
“Are you feeling better now?”
“Slightly.”
I suppose it was some sort of penance for you, seeing as you had suspected a former Archon who considered contracts to be of utmost importance. The consultant had somehow moved closer to you and you could feel the mirth radiating off of him as he tried to offer you a portion of dumplings once more.
At the end of the day, the two of you find yourselves taking the long way home talking in hushed whispers as he keeps a hold of your hand. He mentions that a trip down to the marketplace tomorrow was in order.
“Are you looking for something in particular?”
“There is a custom that humans practice all over Teyvat. One that involves being bound together with a ring.” You could practically feel your eyes widen into the shape of saucers as he continues, “I wouldn’t wish to have a repeat from earlier, would you Love?”

Wicked.
--You meet the glare of the man you once loved as he cradles the form of a delicate-looking female. You can't help but feel slighted as she gives you a self-satisfied smile in the arms of your former fiance. Biting back your tears and fury, you stare the two individuals down before straightening your back and donning the role of being the villainess.
Characters: Diluc, Kaeya, Childe, Zhongli (ft. F!Reader)

Diluc
He's expected much more from you seeing as you had both been betrothed to each other since childhood. Both your parents came from ducal nobility and it only made sense for them to unite both families in the hopes of strengthening ties. You grew up looking forward to visiting him at his family's estate and vice versa until your mother had pointed out that it was rather undignified for a lady to show such childish excitement.
“As the eldest daughter of a Duke, you have to conduct yourself in a dignified manner. Remember, you aren’t some common child but a member of the nobility.”
From there on, you had handled yourself impeccably whenever you met Diluc and that meant curtsying and keeping yourself composed at all times—even if he told you that you weren’t the prettiest girl he’s seen. Children say the most darn things and you chalked it to him being a bit more on the shyer side. Between the social gatherings, etiquette lessons and dance classes, you still find time to meet your intended fiancé for tea every two weeks, much to the insistence of your parents, bonding over your shared love for animals specifically birds of prey.
Although, he’s grown from a lively child; You can tell he’s become quite distant as he entered adolescence. It was only after the sudden death of his mother that he became much more closed off. You could still remember the month when the bedridden duchess had summoned you and asked that you take care of her son in her place. From there on the biweekly meetings dwindled as Diluc became much more engrossed with his duties related to inheriting the dukedom from his father and you can’t help but miss the caring and impressionable boy he used to be.
Seasons pass and soon enough it was time for the annual debutante ball to be held in the capital once more. The parties had always been lavish and the red-haired man had been there to escort you, although he seemed more closed off and stoic as the years passed--If anything he still tried to be cordial. You try to maintain a healthy relationship, sending him letters just to check on him and visiting him when permitted.
You weren’t so attached to the crimson-haired man and instead learned to entertain yourself with your friends until it was time for the much-anticipated dance which only consisted of the annual debutantes and their male counterparts. You cannot help but search the room for Diluc until you see him slowly making his way over to you begrudgingly. You ignore his expression and ready yourself--alas, you cannot ignore the far-off look in his eyes as he remained indifferent even as you tried to make small talk while he spun you on the gleaming marble floors.
You thank him for the dance as a courtesy but he merely passes you by and disappears into the sea of attendees. Your fiancé had always disliked socializing and crowded places so you had chalked it up to him finding a quiet place and resting for a bit. No matter, you had always learned to keep yourself amused considering you had grown without any siblings. The night had been enjoyable, seeing as you had tried a handful of delicacies as well as made a few acquaintances with others your age. You find yourself standing by the wall with a small plate of cake in hand when you catch sight of something you wish you hadn't.
“Isn’t that the young Master Diluc?” You hear someone whisper from your left.
“Last time I recall, His fiancé wasn’t blonde?” Another one whispered behind their fan. “But who that dancing with him?”
There was your betrothed, escorting another girl towards the dance floor--and they dance, beautifully. For others who knew of your engagement, it sent tongues wagging as they gossiped about the unknown girl dancing with the Ragnvindr's next head. You feel a slight tinge of jealousy creeping its hold around your heart after seeing the rather affectionate gaze he held. It was nearing the early hours of the morning when you had decided to leave, making your way into the carriage and ignoring the pitying looks of other partygoers as there was no one to see you off or at least escort you.
In the next few weeks, you receive a letter of apology from Diluc and a bouquet of Windblumes--he says that he had been too late in escorting you home during the ball and wished to accompany you for luncheon at another noble's home. You wrote a reply to accept the offer at the insistence of your mother although you had been reluctant to do so.
The maids flustered over your appearance and you had thought that even the most beautiful dress would not divert your fiancée's attention, seeing as it had been elsewhere--If not with his duties at his father's business, he had been spending time roaming the streets of Mondstadt dressed in commoner's clothing. You had cared less what he had been doing but your informant had been keen enough to report that he had been visiting a certain female commoner, the very same one who had been present at the debutante ball.
The moment you arrive at the luncheon, you're met with the red-haired man who offers his hand to you as you step out of the carriage. You fake the smile on your face and strengthen your resolve. You give your fiancé a pleasant greeting only to be answered with curt 'hello' before he leads you into the garden where the gathering was held.
You sat with him, trying to make conversation and inquiring about his health but again his responses are brief and short that you ultimately give up on chatting with him. Within an hour, he excuses himself even when you gave him a pointed look before leaving you alone once more. You try to hide your irritation behind a cup of tea before deciding to find him and give him a piece of your mind. How dare he string you around like an accessory? You had been nothing else but amiable to him and yet he treated you like any other noble.
You find yourself stalking down the hallway after seeing familiar red hair rounding the corner of a hallway. You open your mouth to call out to him but you were only imminently surprised when you catch him with that same girl. You can’t help but roll your eyes at the coincidence before deciding to listen in on the conversation.
“I thought of nothing else but you since the first time we met.” Your stomach dropped when you hear Diluc, the same frigid and detached man, confessing his love for this woman.
“But, My Lord—“
“Diluc.” There was a softness in his tone, you need not see his expression to hear it. “I told you to call me that when we are alone.”
“Diluc, I love you.” You bite your lip to keep yourself quiet. “But you are promised to another woman. I cannot be that woman.”
“That is true.” You hear a set of steps against the floor and you strain your ears as your fiancé continues. “But I cannot deny that you are the only one that I want.”
If you had been exasperated earlier, you were now seething in pure unadulterated anger. How dare he string you around like an accessory? You wanted no part in becoming the subject of Mondstadt's gossip mill.
You leave moments before the conversation is done, intent on finding the host to excuse yourself--citing that you weren't feeling well enough to see to the end of the gathering. You don’t even glance at the other attendants who seemed confused at your sudden departure before entering your carriage alone once more. It seemed that your fiancee merely invited you as a ruse to meet with another woman and it infuriated you to no ends. If he wished to be rid of you, who were you to deny his wish!
From there on, it took months of planning, compiling and gathering information on your fiancé’s entanglement and before you knew it, the date to announce your marriage ceremony was looming dangerously close. The red-head still kept in contact with you but you asked that he keep his visits short and his letters even briefer, something he didn't mind. You had half a mind to ignore all the notes he had sent, seeing as he held no affection for you. You weren’t blind! It was all a pretense.
The appointed day had arrived and you walk inside the Duke's home, declining any need of an escort as you prepared to enter the ballroom. You kept your face blank whilst entering, only pretending to scrunch your face at the two figures standing on the other side of the room. The pounding in your chest was not from anxiety but elation. You tried your hardest not to smile at the thought of his reputation being stained by the end of the day.
You listened as your previous fiancée announced your broken engagement as he held the hand of the woman who would be replacing you. A pretty little, innocent thing with large doe eyes and delicate features--someone who would not survive high society. All eyes had been trained on you for your response but you merely give an uncharacteristically sweet smile and curtsey.
"Very well then." Dignity and elegance had been ingrained into your very bones but alas, you had a hard time fighting the smirk that appeared on your face. "But I would also like to air out my grievances. If I may?"
The stage had been set for you and you begin to speak. You talk of his deception and the emotional distress he has put you through. You had been nothing but a companion to the said man who only saw you a tool and nothing more. Wiping at the fake tears at the corner of your eyes, you can see the pitying looks people were giving you before moving on.
"Is that not the previous Countess Magnilda's prized Peridot necklace?" You raise a hand towards, the woman who couldn't help but hide behind the red-haired man, before pointing out the jewel that hung around her neck. "It had been stolen about three years ago by the infamous Darknight Hero."
That statement had started a commotion and the relatives of the previously mentioned deceased countess stared intently at the couple. They began to scrutinize the young woman who had the look of utter horror on her face. Diluc glared at you and you merely brushed it off and continued.
“It seems that my former fiancé had not only deceived myself but others as well.” You carry on with your disquisition,
Drawing attention to the very same man who had plundered a multitude of aristocratic dwellings to provide for those less fortunate under the infamous name of the Darknight Hero.
"Where is your proof!?" The heir to the Ragnvindr dukedom thundered as he glared at you--if looks could kill, you would have been found six feet under already.
Ah, the question you had been waiting for has finally appeared. Your motion to an associate of yours who merely hands you a stack of documents. Flipping through the pages you began listing the items that belonged to various aristocrats before procuring receipts that had been written by none other than the man before you.
You merely smile at the chaos erupting around you as people began to talk loudly, multiple voices filling the hall as many of them point accusing fingers at the two individuals across you. The air buzzed with electricity and you met rage-filled eyes with your satisfied ones. Everything had gone according to plan.
It took longer than you had anticipated for the news of Diluc’s dealings as the infamous Darknight Hero and his inconstancy towards you to die down. It had been weeks since the dramatic reveal at the party and you had received confirmation that your engagement would be annulled. Although your darling parents had offered for you to go on vacation in Liyue, you opted to stay within the vicinity of your home—wishing to bask in your accomplishment.
You had been situated in the privacy of the balcony, admiring the estate’s lush garden when the doors to your bedroom suite slams open. You catch a flurry of crimson hair making its way towards you and yet you don’t make a move to defend yourself. You merely lift the handle of your teacup daintily, not even flinching at the hands that slam down against the table causing the porcelain to rattle loudly.
"What did you tell my father?" The deadly tone in Diluc's voice would have made grown men shake in their boots but you remain unperturbed, settling your cup down on its saucer.
"Well, I felt it was important to inform him in detail of your…clandestine dealings." You glance at him before taking a small item from the tower of pastries.
"You must feel relieved. No longer the next head to the Ragnvindr Dukedom. You can focus on your beloved woman instead.”
"You--" You can see his hands shake and the sound of leather tightening. "You are a wretched person."
"You think so?" You merely carry on with your leisurely tea time, glancing behind him as a few of your estate's guards began appearing in your bedroom doorway. "Ah, But I am merciful enough to grant you your heart's desire."
"And that is?"
You lift a hand to signal the guards to take the discourteous man from your space. If this fool thought he could storm into a noble woman's private quarters, he should have thought twice. You had been pliant long enough and you would return all the damage he's caused to your family's reputation.
"Oh? But isn't this what you always wanted." You meet his glare with a sneering smile. "To be one with the common folk?"
.
Kaeya
Usually, the children of nobles were betrothed at a young age but your parents could never find a suitable partner for you. It wasn't that you were unattractive or a troublesome child per se but it was rather the cold expression you always sported on your face that was enough to intimidate others. In the past, you were always disappointed seeing other people heading the opposite direction when you entered a room but as grew older, you began to care less.
At some point, you eventually overlooked the idea of marrying and threw yourself into your studies--especially enjoying the field of law and learning about legislations originating from your homeland and distant foreign lands. Unfortunately, a noble lady could not live the life of a misanthrope and your parents announced that they had found a respectable man as your future spouse. Thus, an engagement between you and the second adopted son of the Ragnvindr dukedom—Kaeya Alberich—had been settled. Furthermore, you had been invited to the duke's estate to meet your fiancée in the following week.
The days pass and the day of the meeting comes, the moment you took a step out of your carriage, you are immediately greeted by the head butler and led towards the garden. Amidst the blooming rows of Cecilias, was a handsome, tanned man, holding what seems to be a wine glass. Wasn't it too early to be drinking? It was only eleven, not even lunchtime yet.
The navy-haired man notices both you and the butler as he was about to take a sip of the red liquid. He merely flashes you an alluring smile before approaching you and giving a slight bow, introducing himself as Kaeya Alberich, your fiancé. You merely nod respectfully, accepting his arm before leading you towards a table set for two. You sit down after he pulls the chair back and you can't help but admire the elegant spread of various canapes, small cakes and delicate ceramic tableware.
It only takes you half an hour for you to decide that you barely had anything in common with the man sitting across you. Starting a conversation was rather difficult and it took quite an effort on both your parts and he--thankfully--suggested that he give you a tour of the estate to which you accept. He talks as you listen, nodding occasionally and following along as he leads you through the vast corridors. It was past noon when you depart the duke's estate, citing a prior appointment you had to attend to.
You are pleasantly surprised that he accompanies you to the front yard, taking your hand and pressing a kiss against your knuckles causing a bright flush to appear on your cheeks. He merely chuckles as he closes the carriage door, his bright eye twinkling in delight while watching your vehicle move away.
Months pass and your fiancé accompanied you multiple times to a handful of social gatherings and parties. He still retained his flirtatious temperament and you can't help but be charmed when he showers you with affection. He never fails to send you a bouquet of Cala Lilies and a box of confections, or a package of scented stationery. Soon enough, your indifferent mask began to fall apart and you find yourself enjoying his company and sharing your love for Jurisprudence while he listens intently.
In the past few weeks, the captain of the cavalry knights became busy, having to travel and take part in various military exercises with the neighbouring countries. You send letters and small things you thought would make his time away from home bearable—at this point, it seems that you had truly become infatuated with the man as you always had him and his best interests in mind. How could he not when he writes your words so sweet and comparing you to the moon on a midsummer evening?
It was during the Windblume festival that you were both expected to attend the annual ball that you decide to gift him the sapphire brooch you had bought a few months back. It was an icy blue sapphire larger than your fingernail, cut in an elegant octagonal shape and framed exquisitely by silver lattice vines. It oddly reminded you of Kaeya and you couldn't help but cover your cheeks with a fan when you catch yourself thinking about him.
The night of the ball, you found yourself dressed in a simple but elaborate black dress—an odd choice but it bought out the colour of your eyes. The navy-haired man escorted you into the hall but it seemed that he was slightly distracted but you chalked it up to him being exhausted from his duties. He converses with you but his eye scanned the vast room every few minutes as if searching for someone in the sea of people.
Dismissing the pointed stares that followed your figures, your fiancé leads you to take part in the first set of dances. You seem to notice the way his body stiffened when he turned in a certain direction when he spun you around. Although those bow-shaped lips move into his trademark grin, his periwinkle eye remained detached. Was it your imagination? You can't help but excuse yourself, explaining that you weren't used to dancing in such lofty shoes and needed to rest for a bit to allow Kaeya to mingle with others. A close friend of yours, Miss Greta, accompanied you in one of the settees located at a more secluded area of the hall. You try to make small talk but it seemed that she needed to tell you something--something that seemed to be upsetting her.
"Is everything alright?" She inquires while handing you a flute of chilled juice. "You look a bit pale."
"Ah, I-it's just the nerves." You respond softly before taking a sip of the liquid.
You ignore the look she sends you, keeping your gaze on the dancing figures in front of you--Your fiancé's disappeared in less than five minutes already, surely, he's just catching up with some friends. You barely feel your friend's gloved hand around your arm, forcing you to turn your attention to the solemn expression on her face.
"He's not what you think he is."
"What?" You blink repeatedly, taken aback by the sudden statement. "What are you talking about, Greta?"
"Sir Kaeya. He's been deceiving you." Miss Greta speaks softly, only enough for the two of you to hear as she clutches your hand. "I can't stay silent like this. Please believe me."
"How?"
"He's been seeing a particular woman during his travels." You stare at her pleading visage as she continues. "I just saw with her leave a few minutes ago and-and he followed suit."
"T-that's not possible." You shake your head in disbelief before placing the half-empty flute and detaching yourself from your friend. "W-we've been exchanging letters. Kaeya would never."
"I know it's all so sudden but please believe me." You can hear the desperation in your friend's voice but you ignore her, opting to excuse yourself to clear your head somewhere quiet. "Wait!"
"Excuse me."
You can't seem to hear anything other than the loud sound of music filling your ears while the figures of partygoers moved around you almost dizzyingly. And yet, you can't help but scan the crowded ballroom with wide eyes only to find no sign of a certain man. Closing the door behind your dark lonely figure, you make your way towards one of the empty balconies connected to the hallway to calm yourself--maybe the cold breeze would ease your tension.
You barely take a step towards the veranda when you see a couple, wrapped up in an embrace from behind translucent curtains. You were about to turn away but you caught sight of familiar blue hair. It felt as if lightning had struck you when you see your betrothed leaning in to kiss another woman deeply, his gloved fingers cupping her chin. You feel a constricting sensation in your chest when the two separate and gaze into each other's eyes lovingly, clearly in a world of their own.
"Was that enough to convince you, Sweetheart?" A lone tear rolls down your cheek as you feel your fingers turn frigid at your beloved's next choice of words. "I don't love her. I want to marry you."
"Oh, Kaeya!” You hear the breathlessness and happiness in the woman's voice and you turn to leave as tears begin to well up in your eyes.
Your dress billows around your fleeing form, only coming to a stop in front of the two doors leading into the ballroom. The frigidness in your hands had reached up your arms and you tried to ignore the pricking sensation as you compose yourself but the sound of footsteps approaching prompted you to enter the hall. You hear someone calling your name but you ignore them in favour of making it to the door leading to the main entrance. The door was almost at arm’s length when familiar gloved hands caught unto your arm, you glance back to see a breathless Kaeya.
"Leaving so soon?" He has the gall to seduce you with that sultry smile when he had been kissing another only a few moments ago.
"Hands off." You tug your arm away, glaring at him with indignation, if looks could kill he would have been gone from your sight. "I am going home. Now."
"What's the rush, Darling." He is slightly taken aback at your aggressiveness, his hand trying to catch your own but you only continue to glare at him.
You wanted to throttle him but you held back as angry tears prickled in the corner of your eyes but you tried to keep them at bay--you would be damned if you cried in front of this man. Opening your mouth for a scathing retort, you catch sight of the woman he had been messing around standing a few meters away--You recognized her as a noblewoman from the neighbouring country from the clothes she was wearing. You can't help the exasperated tilt on your face as she avoids your gaze promptly. The commotion between the both of you had caught the eye of curious individuals and you tried to separate yourself from the navy-haired man.
"My Love?" He tries to pull you close but you wretch your hand from his hold.
The pet name would have flustered you especially if in the company of others but you knew better than to be swayed by honied words. He had always been charming and you applaud him for his performance but it was time to draw the curtains.
"It would be in your best interest to refrain from addressing me with such familiarity." Straightening your back, you simply stare deep into his stunned expression for a few moments. "Not when your love lies elsewhere."
Opening the double doors, the clear night sky with the moon high up in the sky is revealed behind you. The hands that were once formed into fists, gracefully moved in a flourish as you held unto your skirts, the fabric of your dress shone alluringly as the moonlight framed your figure. Directing your cold gaze upon the man--the very same one who whispered sweet words and promises of a happy life only to betray your trust-- who can’t help but stare at your captivating figure.
"Please tell the Duke to expect a letter regarding the annulment of our engagement, Sir Alberich.” Anyone listening could hear the ice in your voice as you practically spat his name. "I shall be taking my leave now. Farewell."
Once you reach the safety of your carriage, you unravelled your palm and there sat a gleaming Cryo vision and you couldn't help but laugh at the irony of it. The next day news of the abruptly dissolved engagement between you and the Cavalry Captain from the Knights of Favonius spreads through the city of Mondstadt almost like wildfire--you weren't surprised after the rather ostentatious scene you had caused. At the end of the day, you received a letter from the Duke of Ragnvindr inviting you for a private meeting three days from now to clarify the rather sudden change in your engagement with his son. Of course, you accepted the invitation but on one condition: You bring another guest.
It took quite the effort to prepare for the meeting but you weren't too worried as you boarded your carriage on the day of contingency--Everything would fall into place at the end of the day. You arrive a bit later than the appointment time and you could spot another familiar coach a few meters away. When you exit the carriage, you don't wait for anyone to accompany you to the Duke's office but instead, you make your way.
You knock on the heavy-looking double doors and push open the doors, not bothering to announce your presence. The three individuals within the room look up to your appearance, clearly not expecting you to appear so suddenly. The current Duke, Crepus Ragnvindr, blinked in surprise and tried to rise from his seat to address you. Walking inside the large office with measured steps, you take a seat opposite everyone and muster a civilized smile but everyone could see that it didn't reach your eyes.
"Apologies my lady but as you can see, we have a guest and--" The crimson-haired man started.
"No. I invited her." You interrupt the duke before finally meeting the gazes of the other two people in the room--your former betrothed and his current lover--both looking quite stunned. "I hope you don't mind me using your name to get her to come, Sir Alberich."
All three stared at you incredulously and but you ignore the looks, helping yourself to a cup of tea and a cookie from the serving plate situated between all four of you. Leaning back against the back of the comfortable sofa, you breezily continued.
"It only makes sense for all parties to be present when discussing such important matters." You take a sip from your teacup. "After all, a woman who would steal another's isn't much of a woman. Wouldn't you say so, Lady Emeline?"
"If you are implying that I stole Kaeya from you--!" The woman named Emeline interjected whilst the said man visibly stiffened.
"Then what would you call it then? Borrowing?"
You hear the absurdity in your voice as the duke frowns at you three, no doubt trying to make sense of the conversation. You feel the Cavalry Captain's piercing glare as you merely shake your head, trying to keep yourself from laughing.
"I would rather you keep him, Sweetheart. I don't know where that tongue of his has been." You hide behind the teacup as your lips curl up wickedly. "But I'm sure you have an…adequate idea."
"That isn't true!" Your ex-fiancée's beau denied vehemently as she grabbed onto Kaeya's arm. "Your Grace, please believe me!"
"Where's your evidence?" The Duke looks tired as he directs his question towards you.
You recount the testimonies of those who have witnessed the couple across you meeting multiple times during his time away from Mondstadt. You remind the man in question of the many times you requested he accompany you to social events only to be rejected--Why? He claims he was far too busy with the knights when in reality he was cavorting with the said woman beside him.
"And of course, let us not forget that faithful night as well."
You speak then describe the night of the Windblume festival's ball, that very same night you choose to annul the engagement after having caught the two embracing before Kaeya's impromptu proposal and her acceptance. The petrified expression on Emeline's face and Kaeya's pale visage was enough evidence for the duke who raised a hand to stop you.
"It seems that my son has done a great discourtesy to you, My Lady." The duke apologizes before sighing, he looked as if he had aged three years. "If there is any way he can make amends, I shall gladly see to it."
"I wish for two things." You place your empty teacup on the table and tuck your legs together. "One, the broken engagement should not affect the business conducted between my father's company and Duke Ragnvindr's."
"We can easily arrange for that."
"Lastly, I demand that you pay me palimony." You tuck a stray lock of hair behind your ear, looking like the epitome of composure. "I would like ten percent of the Dukedom's annual income to be deposited into my account every year."
"W-we cannot meet such ludicrous expectations!" The navy-haired man retorts heatedly while sending you a menacing look.
"That's a shame we cannot settle this quietly then."
You sigh softly at the said man before making a move to get up. You give the duke a curtsey before turning towards the door, glancing at the nearby grandfather clock in the corner of the room to check the time.
"I supposed everyone will come to know about the scandal involving the Knight's Cavalry Captain by the end of the day." The look of intense alarm appeared on Kaeya's face as you spoke.
"Then again I didn't expect much." You give the three a fake smile, eyes silently appraising the satisfactory damage you had dealt. "Betrayal comes easily to men who hold no conscience."
.
Childe
Those steel-blue eyes of his had always intimidated you but the raging anger within you was on the brink of release. The air was tense and everyone within the vicinity of the Grand Ballroom can feel the overwhelming pressure coming from the ginger-haired man. You stared in bewilderment at the female he held in his arms protectively. What a minx of a friend she had been, using you to further her agenda and scapegoating you. It had been a stupid mistake on your part to even trust her and you can't help but regret making those decisions.
You can only listen in horror as one of the harbingers read out the list of charges against you. Your now ex-fiancée’s acquaintances present various circumstantial points of your support for the revolution as he merely watches alongside his new beau. Within the next few minutes, you realize there was no use in defending yourself as none of your friends or family took your side—you had been pinned as the mastermind.
It was true you had been gathering information behind enemy lines considering there were whispers of an uprising in the making. You can’t help but feel all the more wronged as your fiancée had the gall to break your engagement during a crowded gathering of nobles before putting you under an impromptu trial. You try your best to defend yourself, seeing as no one seemed eager to come to your aid.
You struggle against the hold of two guards who suddenly appeared behind you, forcing you unto your knees and causing your hair to fall off its delicate bun. You sharply turn your attention to the balcony to the one who could have easily cleared the charges against you—the same individual who had ordered you to send out spies to infiltrate the opposition's base of operations.
The Tsaritsa didn't even bother to glance at you as she kept half of her face hidden behind a feathered fan, choosing to remain unconcerned. You stare at her, mouth slightly agape as the people around you continued to listen to one of the Harbingers read out the verdict. You catch your former friend clinging unto the ginger-haired man as he watches the proceedings with levity.
You are kept kneeling as they finally announce your crimes: Conspiracy to commit treason against the current head of state, participating in and contributing to the activities relating to the rebellious opposition, and espionage. The guards were rough in their handling and drag you unto your feet and you finally snap at them.
"Unhand me, you fools!" You try to wretch your arms away before glaring at the people around you--there was no point in being calm, not when everyone has turned their back on you. "I am not an animal you can drag around as you wish!"
"You can be easily mistaken as one with the way you look right now." The man you had loved spoke, his arm still wrapped around the female beside him. "But then again, I shouldn't expect much from a traitorous woman like you."
"You bastard." You feel yourself trembling—not in fear but utter fury due to the baseless insult and the humiliation. "All of you. All of you will regret this."
"Take her away."
Glowering at everyone who met your gaze within the ballroom whilst you are escorted out, the guards having to push your back harshly to get a move on. You hear the mocking laughter of the person you had once called an ally and a friend as you turn away. You could barely remember the walk down to the dungeon as your mind was clouded by intense vehemence.
Suffice to say, you found yourself spending the next few nights in a damp cell with only the nearby torches providing you warmth and light. That bastard, Childe, came to mock you in the sorry state you were in and tried to get more information regarding the enemies of the Tsaritsa—of course, you would never yield considering that you weren't even a rebel.
You were stubborn and your anger had reared its head, calling him a dog--considering that he was only good when it came to following his master’s orders and pursuing his debauched needs with anything with its legs spread open. In the next few moments, you find yourself slammed against the wall with his gloved hand wrapped around your throat painfully tight, leaving an angry red handprint. He only releases you when a few of the guards wrestle him out of your cell. He was still the same as you remember--brazen and eager for a fight. In the next few weeks, you had been served with stale bread, cold soup and partially rotten fruit and yet you wouldn’t trade anything in the world to see that look of anger on his face.
It took a few weeks for one of your colleges to finally sneak you out of the dungeon, dressed in shabby maid’s clothing, before leaving you in Morepesok, a small seaside village. During your stay there, you hear that the Fatui had been tasked with capturing and that meant having to make drastic changes to your appearance and finding a place to lay low for a while.
It took a few more months of adjusting to your new life when you hear rumours of Ajax and his new fiancée—you sneer at both their names—preparing for their engagement. The Tsaritsa had been gracious enough to host the party at the Zapolyarny Palace, the very same one where you had been branded and made an enemy of the public.
According to your sources, the rebel army recruited more people to their cause and it seemed like the perfect opportunity. It took over a week of travelling through the snowy lands and avoiding the villages where a few Fatui agents frequented before you arrived at the rebels' encampment. The frontrunner, a large scarred man that was flanked by many others merely stared you down and shook his head before declaring that he did not need women who cannot fight.
"Conquering one's enemy without having to shed blood is the greatest victory." You give him an unnerving stare from underneath your hood before continuing. "You will need my help if you wish to take the capital."
"And what makes you think I will let you in so easily." The man replies with a huff and yet his gruff reply doesn't deter you. "We don't take kindly to nobles, especially traitorous ones."
He scrutinizes you and notes your rugged appearance. A noblewoman such as yourself wouldn't have made their way behind enemy lines to merely try and infiltrate them. What would you have to gain from siding with them? Surely, you knew the repercussions and you could easily be taken as a hostage when things go south for them.
"A person doesn't think about treason until they realize that they cannot betray a country that's never theirs."
You watch as astonishment took over the men's expressions and exchanging glances at one another before finally the person you assumed to be the leader finally invites you into one of their tents. The walk to the temporary shelter has been fast and yet you felt the cautious glances but you merely ignore it; you were used to it at this point.
Of course, you expected everyone to be suspicious of you but it seemed they were more dumbfounded at your bold statement a few minutes ago. The rumours surrounding your mysterious figure seemed to be true: underneath the graceful and dignified image was a calculating and malevolent character. How fitting it was to traverse to the other side and plot against the faction you had once been a part of, it was quite thrilling.
Once settled in a chair, you note the multitude of weathered maps on the table in front of you before introducing yourself formally and cutting straight to the chase. You address the elephant in the room: You would provide intelligence to the rebel army and fully support their cause for three years but it must be within that period that the Snezhnayan nobility must be destroyed along with its head of state--the Cryo Archon--and a new form of government to be inducted.
You easily point out the different locations on the maps where a handful of agents have been stationed by the Tsaritsa. You explain that it would be best to acquire more mercenaries before taking one of the nearby forts that kept prisoners. Releasing those who had been imprisoned would most likely send both a message to the people of Snezhnaya and prompt others to join the cause.
“Whether you choose to act upon the advice I’ve given you or ignore it is up to you.” You speak solemnly with your arms crossed in front of you. "Whatever decision you make, I promise to provide you assistance of any form."
The chief—his name was Rurik from his short introduction—continues to scrutinize you from across the table. You watch him rest his elbows on the edge of the lacquered table with his bearded mouth pressed against his folded hands. You knew it was too good of an offer to pass up and both of you knew that he had no choice but to accept your help if he wished for the reformation of the state and for his men to survive this coming winter. Holding his gaze, you remain resolute as the tense silence fills the room.
“What is it that you wish to gain?”
You can’t help the sudden surge of heat swirling around the delusion that has been tucked carefully into your waistband. It had been months since you had made the drastic change from dainty lady to wanted criminal and yet your goal had been the only thing that drove you to even get up in the cold, winter mornings.
“Ah, that would be the most delightful thing one can dream of tasting after going through the depths of hell.” Your mouth perked up at the familiar word. “Revenge.”
It takes less than half an hour for a contract between you and the resistance leader to be made and suffice to say, you are pleased by the outcome. It only takes you a few months to adjust to the everyday life at the camp, between meetings with Rurik and taking part in reconnaissance missions, you watched as the rebel forces gradually grew. It took a while for the seed of insurrection to bloom but with your loving efforts, money and flowing network of information throughout the land, you were beginning to see results.
Planting spies among the servants of the elite and Fatui members while leaving fake evidence of their liaison with the rebel group for the Tsaritsa's agents to find was child's play. It doesn't take long for that trust to break when you hear of the military forces beginning to lead an inquisition among the upper class. Still, it doesn't surprise that it only takes half a year for those who had forsaken you in the past to come flocking over to your side seeking refuge.
When you proposed that several high-ranking members of the Fatui and a handful of the Harbingers be assassinated, you are immensely delighted to see that a majority of the people--both commoners and nobles--agree to the suggestion. It takes another year for the bloody affair to be concluded, you mourn for those who had lost their lives but it was all worth it when only one of the eleven Harbingers were left to defend the Tsaritsa.
It doesn't take long for a full-blown war to occur and after seizing multiple key locations, only the Zapolyarny Palace remains. A source from within the castle walls painted a rather desolate picture for the Cryo Archon, who had unfortunately greatly suffered from a failed assassination attempt a few weeks back. The rebel army marches towards the abode of Snezhnaya's head of state without much opposition with only the sound of their footsteps echoing through the silent streets.
Within the hour, the revolutionaries easily breach the palace walls and they had began swarming into the throne room where only a handful of the Fatui remained. You smile as you meet the Tsaritsa who remained seated on her throne, flanked by what remains of her guard and of course, who else would be there but the infamous eleventh Harbinger as well.
You could tell from their body language that they had no intention of surrendering quietly and yet you warn them of the outcome if they drew their weapons. You silently watch your former flame draw his hydro daggers as he keeps his eyes trailed on the people trickling through the door behind you. Rurik nods towards the small group surrounding the weakened Cryo Archon before the room erupts into violence.
You were the first one to take a swing your sword towards the ginger-haired man as he parried your next blow. Ten minutes turned to twenty and Childe could barely keep up with the onslaught of sharp blades being thrust towards his direction and the crowded room made it difficult for him to dodge. For every one of your men he struck down, three more emerged from the door but you hardly noticed them coming in as a red tinge began to appear in the corner of your vision.
"Your cause is futile, Harbinger." The intense gleam in your eyes caught him off guard and he couldn't help but feel excited when the bloodlust emanating for you was so palpable.
"Where have you been hiding this whole time?" He sports an insidious grin to hide his fatigue, trying to overwhelm your group with brute strength alone. "Have you been training to gain my attention?"
You narrow your eyes at the bastard before pressing on. Whatever ounce of affection you had for him had dried up years ago and it was too late to ask for a spar. You watch his exhaustion beginning to catch up to him before you use your delusion to produce sparks dangerously close to his visage. The said man must have been too caught up to see the short sword in your hand before it found itself digging deeply into his left shoulder.
The pain must have been unbearable seeing as liquid red bled unto his dirty clothes and yet you press on. Your blade dug deeper and as soon as he loosens his hold on his weapons, you give him a swift kick to the abdomen forcing him on his knees. Without speaking, two of your soldiers take the vision that had been hanging on his belt and the delusion in his coat pocket before tying the back of his hands tightly.
Ah, how familiar this situation seemed to be.
The chief, Rurik, catches your gaze before nodding and you could feel everyone's eyes on you. Only the sound of the Cryo Archon's laboured breathing and your heavy footsteps echoing against the tiled floor filled the quiet throne room. You give a glance at Childe who was struggling against his captors, glaring at you with those steel-blue eyes with unrelenting scorn.
"S-stop!" The Tsarista struggled as two of your men pinned her arms behind her back and one pressed a dagger against her pale neck. "How dare you put your filthy hands on me!"
"How funny, it was only years ago that I was in your position, Your Highness."
The nonchalant expression on your face doesn't change as you approach the fallen royal who also had now been forced onto her knees. This is the same woman who didn't make a move to help clear your name and ordered a manhunt--you don't feel any remorse whatsoever. You stop right before her and she jerks her head towards your towering form.
"W-whatever it is that you want! I'll give it to you!"
"Your Gnosis then."
You lift the delicate diadem off the woman's head with one hand, the crystals sparkle even in the dull lighting before your delusion engulfs the ornamental headband in flames. You feel a triumphant smile beginning to appear on your features as you finally drop the exuvia carelessly onto the soot-covered marble floors.
"Your rule has ended." You speak in finality as the woman in front of you couldn't take her eyes off your burning ones. "Either hand it over or I will take it by force."
You hear a commotion behind you as the men were having a hard time subduing the ginger-haired man who kept struggling against them. Even with the wounds, you had inflicted upon him, he continued to defy your expectations. You unsheathe your blade and press it against the delicate collar of the fallen monarch who slowly relinquished the gleaming chess piece into your awaiting hand.
You take a moment to marvel at the pulse of power and before anyone can say a word, you slide your blade against the young woman's neck effectively slitting her throat. The cacophony of startled gasps and shouts filled the room as you secure the now deceased Archon's source of power in your vacant hand. You ignore the shimmering blood of the Tsaritsa staining your feet as you give everyone a malicious leer.
"Why the surprised looks?" You feel a burst of sinister laughter bubbling past your lips as your eyes trailed over the faces within the desolate hall then finally settling on a ginger-haired man. "You made me into the woman I am today, so you only have yourselves to blame."
.
Zhongli
From a young age, your father had been the mentor that encouraged you to expand your horizons--both literally and figuratively. His position as Liyue's merchant ambassador exposed you to the rich cultures that different neighbouring countries had to offer--from architecture, cuisine, music and technology--you took everything in with wide eyes. You were about ten years old when you met Zhongli who was also accompanying his father at Yujing Terrace. It didn’t take long for the handsome brunette to introduce himself and befriend you.
"Would you like to accompany me for the day?” You blink at him with inquisitive eyes. "I know a few excellent shops you may enjoy."
From there on the two of you became inseparable and became close friends. At the age of fifteen, both Zhongli's father and your own had discussed an engagement between the two of you seeing as you were both quite happy with each other's presence and were also expected to become prominent figures in Liyue's future. You watched as Zhongli had grown into a refined and handsome man who could match any scholar or historian with his intellectual prowess but also handle himself when it came to a fight. As time passed, the said man had taken to accompanying you to various banquets and events, playing the role of a gentleman impeccably and making your heart flutter whenever you were together.
Both of you mostly see each other in between your busy schedules at Luijing Terrace, giving each other small smiles before being whisked away for the next meeting. Once the working day is done, the geo-user will be found waiting outside the screen doors of your office, always punctual when it came to accompanying you home. You relished the times you spend with your beloved, hoping that these peaceful circumstances would remain for a long time.
The rain had been pouring from the skies when you arrived home, carefully making your way to your father's study after being summoned abruptly. You find him sitting in the usual chair but instead of the usual grin he reserved for you a disheartened expression greeted you. He motions for you to sit and you do so immediately, giving him your full attention--the business contract between your family and Guhua Clan can wait. Your father slowly reveals the news concerning your engagement to Zhongli to have been annulled.
You can't help but gape at your father who remains quiet and solemn-faced. It takes a while for the information to sink in before you finally find the courage to ask why. He explains that an agreement had been formulated between the countries of Liyue and Sumeru and it required a union between two respectable noble houses. A Sumerian nobleman had offered his daughter and there had only been one eligible bachelor amongst the ranks of the Qixing and it happened to be Zhongli.
You feel indignation flaring up at both the news and the idea of the geo-user having agreed to the match without telling you. You demand your father to tell you of the terms and agreement of the pact in detail and as the minutes passed and the more you listened, it becomes clear that it was a contract that was too beneficial to pass up. The council must have been thinking about the perks of cementing relations between the neighbouring region but you can't help but feel betrayed. You retire early after sending word that you will be taking time off from work. That night you laid awake in bed, pressing your face into your pillows to stop the tears in your eyes and muffle your pitiful cries.
Had the council thought so little of you, a child that had been raised to become the next ambassador? Had you not proven your worth?
Your father? Yes, you knew he loved you but had he considered your happiness and not just the prosperity of your homeland? It seems that love is useless against Mora.
And Zhongli? You had been his long-time friend and betrothed. We're you so easily discarded? Did it all mean nothing in the end?
The days easily bleed into one another and before you knew it, you were back to work and walking mindlessly from one conference to the next. The gossip around Zhongli's recent betrothment to a Sumerian nobleman's daughter after your annulment had spread and you try to carry on with your work and remain impassive. You see him in the halls but you had taken to either avoiding his route entirely or quickening your steps and avert your gaze if you were to pass each other.
It had been another rainy afternoon when you found yourself gazing outside your office windows and noticing a gathering of people at the entrance. You spot your former beloved welcoming what seems to be a new face-- a woman with exotic yet attractive features, carrying herself in a dignified manner and instantly you could tell that she had been the promised bride from Sumeru. You quietly watched your first love take hold and press a gentle kiss on the back of his future bride's hand, a smile on his handsome visage. As cliché as it sounded, you can't help but feel the small fissure in your heart slowly widening as the feelings of betrayal and longing weighted heavily in your mind.
You attend yet another assembly, ignoring the uncomfortable feeling in your chest when you see Zhongli and his fiancée taking their seats. It only takes half an hour for you to figure out that it had been the Sumerian noblewoman who had requested for the meeting. Ever since her arrival in Liyue, she insisted on joining the council meetings with Zhongli to learn about her new home. At first, you don't mind her presence but rather admire her desire to learn but her constant interruption to interject her own opinions didn't leave a good impression among your fellow members.
Currently, Miss Elahe had proposed to lessen the number of Millelith seeing as Liyue was a peaceful country and to instead invest the remaining budget into the Sumerian economy. Indeed, the young woman was of high standing but to many of you, she had no knowledge nor experience when it came to commerce. Suffice to say, you alongside some fellow acquaintances cited the proposition to be high-risk and it would possibly hinder Liyue's thriving economy whilst leaving the country open to attacks. You can see behind the kind mask on her face that she is peeved at another rejected proposal but you remain impassive at her glare.
It was then everyone's attention was directed towards the Tianquan who began to announce rather important news: You would be replacing your father as Liyue's official envoy to the various allied nations. You can't help the corner of your mouth from lifting as the woman bestowed you the title as you kneel before her. You leave Luijing Terrace after being congratulated by a few individuals, happy to be finally acknowledged after working for so long--You hoped that things would begin to get better for you.
Unfortunately, your exuberance was rather short-lived. You found yourself being accompanied by multiple Millelith guards to a dark courtroom in the dead of night. You see a dozen people already within the room and you found yourself forced to stand in front. You recognized a few people as you struggled to make sense of what was happening.
"Surely, you could have called a trial at a more appropriate time." You can barely hold back the irritation in your voice.
"I'm glad to see that you recognize your trial." A tanned man with exotic features spoke up as he stared you down from the opposite side of the room. "Unfortunately for you, justice and retribution will always find a way to dispose of sinners."
"I do not know what you are talking about."
You watch as the group clamoured and amidst the cacophony of noise you discerned the familiar hooded figures of Zhongli and Elahe. You watched as the man tried to comfort his companion who merely shook her head and whispered something to him before walking towards the front accompanied by another. It was only upon closer inspection that you could see that she was sporting a few cuts and bruises on her lovely face. Before you could even speak, a bespectacled man--you assumed to be the judge called for everyone within the room to settle down.
"An assassination attempt through the use of a contract killer." The judge reads from the document in front of him as the tanned man beside Miss Elahe nodded--you assumed it was her representative. "And where is your proof?"
"I will be testifying, your Honour." You recognize a close associate of yours who avoided your gaze as they took the stand. "I have seen the defendant meeting with one of the Fatui agents shortly before Miss Elahe was attacked while on her way to Qingce Village."
The judge holds a hand up towards you before you can interject and motions for the 'witness' to continue. The individual states that you have also been seen writing dreadful threats to the victim to prevent her from attending council meetings. A small stack of letters with what appears to be in your writing is then placed in front of you and you immediately deny doing so.
"One's handwriting can be easily replicated and I have no memory of writing such things."
"Ah, but you didn't write these only because you disliked my client." The Sumerian man reasoned out as he begin to circle your still figure. "You wrote them because you were jealous of her--specifically, her position as Mr. Zhongli's fiancée."
The accusation was almost akin to being stabbed in the back with an icy dagger and you can't help but glower at the man who smiled knowingly. Elahe's representative merely took a step back before motioning towards his client who finally stood up to speak, her soft voice trembling ever so often as she began to recount the night of being assaulted by the band of Fatui agents you had allegedly hired. Halfway into the story, the female began to tremble and Zhongli silently appeared beside her and gathered her into his arms protectively.
"That's enough, Dearest." You hear him whisper before those amber eyes flashed dangerously in your direction. "We have all heard enough."
You could have easily discerned that it was an elaborate setup and that Elahe must have connived a good amount of people within this room that you were the mastermind behind her alleged attack on her life. But you come to realize that it was useless. Everyone within this room didn't believe anything you said and the one person you had thought to be of reasonable mind had completely turned his back on you, embracing the wretch that started it all. You stand in the middle and for a long time, you found yourself overwhelmed by the onslaught of accusations.
The judge continues to speak but you can barely concentrate on his words when the Geo-user leads the still crying woman to the side, holding her tightly to console her. You are finally pulled out of your chaotic thoughts when you hear your name being called and the bespectacled man finally reads out your punishment as two Millelith guards descend upon your still figure.
"The merciful Lady had requested that the death penalty be overturned and instead you shall be stripped of your position as Liyue's ambassador and banished." He speaks but you don’t even flinch. "May the Archons have mercy upon your soul."
"I do not need your prayers nor clemency." You turn towards the individuals in the room, intent on remembering every one of their faces before finally settling on both Zhongli and Elahe. "And I do not wish to be tied to a land that upholds no justice or honour."
The occupants in the room clamour at your impertinent words but you catch the pleased expression on your former fiancé’s woman just as you are escorted out of the courtroom. Within the next hour, you are forcefully ferried into a rather small ship with only the clothes on your back, a light cloak and a small bag that contained a few of your belongings. You watch the lights of Liyue Harbour, the place you called your home, slowly disappearing behind the fog as the boat drifted further away. It is only when you reach the sandy beaches of the neighbouring country in the early hours of the morning the next day that you realize how grave the situation was.
You don't wait for the ship to depart the port when you set out towards your destination, careful to stay on the main road to avoid any monsters. For days you only come across abundant rainforests with odd patches of desert areas and it was on the fifth day that you finally reach the city. If Liyue had its panoramic view of mountainous terrain and the sprawling harbour, Sumeru was a small but sparkling city filled with lights located in between a valley with dense forests surrounding it--from where you stood, you could see the famous Academia. As you make your way into the centre of the capital, you find the citizens of Sumeru were rather friendly and directed you towards a merchant’s guild.
It doesn’t take long for the merchants at the Tizqar commerce to take you under their wing after seeing your immense potential. Years of being under the tutelage of various tradesmen in Liyue had taught you to read a person’s body language coupled with your extensive knowledge in financial literacy, the guild master had enough tact to hire you. Within the year, you become a respected entrepreneur. From weapons, literary texts, rare antiques and classified information you had a knack for attaining them quickly for clients that ranged from politicians, other merchants and the common person.
Within three years, you finally began initiating your plan and that consisted of expanding your own business and gathering information on a certain Sumerian noblewoman. Your establishment was rather hard to miss--a large building that functioned as a hub for information and a gambling house that anyone can visit. It doesn’t take long for people to come flocking in with dreams of living lavishly only to diverge any type of information to save both themselves and their families from their crippling debt.
After confirming the information, it was made clear that Lady Elahe's family were closely related to members of a certain business faction and you kept a very close eye on their leader, Rashaad Dhidah. The said man had been frequenting the gambling den almost every week alongside his entourage, drawing attention to themselves and flaunting their status and wealth as nobles.
You order your staff for all of them to be treated as precious clients as a sign of respect--Whatever they wanted, you would deliver. Within another year, the man came to see you as a trusted friend and visited every other day all the while trying to convince you to join their guild. It was one faithful night that you had both been partaking in indulging in a few bottles of Dandelion Wine that you finally made your move.
"If you win a round against me, I will join the Dhidah Sect but also--” You motion toward the coffee table in front of you where a chessboard sat with a small wave of your hand. “--give you this building.”
“That's quite the offer.” The man across you laughed almost drunkenly and you merely flash him a charming smile. "And if I lose?"
“You shall owe me a favour: I would like to experience being in your shoes for a day.” You say in a sing-song tone before leaning back against the couch. “I am still young and I would like to think of it as learning from the best.”
"That does sound like a reasonable request," Rashaad mumbles before finally nodding weakly and allowing you to formulate a written contract.
The game lasts about an hour or two and you coolly beat the man across you to which he demands a rematch. The second match doesn't take quite as long seeing as Rashaad had fallen asleep shortly after you had captured his queen, grumbling about youngsters being too smart for their good these days to which earns a chuckle from you.
Had it been luck that allowed you to easily snatch power from a drunk man's hands? Or maybe that the leader of one of the most powerful organizations in Sumeru was dumb enough to believe your words. You did not need a day but only a few hours to make a few amendments to some legal documents ensuring that Lady Elahe will be no longer recognized as the firstborn of her family and thus lose the support of the Dhidah commerce guild.
Ah, but that wasn't enough for you, was it? You had already seized power, why not use it to its fullest extent?
It doesn’t take much for you to take another spare piece of parchment, quill ready to create another new and improved draft of the agreement. After giving the document another look over until you were satisfied, you forge Rashid’s signature and take the signet ring from the sleeping man’s fingers to finish off the deed. Calling for a few members of staff, you hand the sealed document with orders to present it to the Dhidah Sect’s headquarters in the morning and for the man currently passed out on your couch to be brought to a spare room.
After your personnel had left with the contract and taken Rashaad away, you feel a small sense of triumph coming over you. For how long you had spent planning your retaliation and finally it was all coming together. You feign confusion when you are summoned to the country's high court but this time you had a handful of skilled representatives defend your case. You watch the proceedings with your small party, taking pleasure in watching one of the most powerful commerce factions in Sumeru come apart after learning their leader had essentially handed their organization to you after losing to a simple game. Not once but twice.
It doesn't take much for the judge to hand out his verdict and you merely flash the previous head of the Dhidah Sect a coy smile before being escorted out into the crowded road. You weren't that heartless though, you offered him a job working as an underling for one of your shops located near the border of Natlan. As you exit the building, anyone on the street could tell by the wide grin on your face that you had now taken over the prestigious group. By lunchtime, you found yourself looking down from the large windows in your new office, located right in the centre of Sumeru's busiest district.
You watch in silence as a few dark storm clouds began to slowly make their way across the evening skies. Admiring the scenery, you had thought it was a delightful coincidence that rain would always come when a rather consequential event occurred in your turbulent life. You lean back against the supple couch with your eyes closed for a few minutes whilst your fingers absent-mindedly played with the opened letter in your hands.
"This is rather amusing. It's the third letter this month.” You tell your assistant, Inanna, as she served you a cup of steaming herbal tea while you waved the piece of paper around. "The mighty Qixing sending an official letter of apology in the hopes of settling a trade agreement?"
"It seems the economy is not doing very well." The woman informs you as you drop the letter on a nearby coffee table in favour of the tea. "There are reports of the Northland Bank denying loans to the public due to the declining state of the nation. Rumours are circulating that they will be withdrawing from Liyue within the next few months.”
Purchasing all stocks that was related to common household items such as textiles, paper, and medicinal herbs but also weapons, minerals and ores had proved to be quite an effect on the people of Liyue. The increased prices on such commodities eventually became a concern to many Liyueans who had lost their jobs after being discharged from the Millelith, courtesy of a certain individual. Unrest slowly began to take over the hearts of many who also began to whisper corruption taking root amongst the Qixing.
"Hmm…" You hum softly before taking another sip of your drink. "Any news within the circle?"
"The merchants are desperately trying to keep themselves afloat whilst trying to meet the demands of the people." Inanna remarks before adding. "They have resorted to purchasing several products from our stores located by the border. At twice the market price."
"Impressive. This is an opportunity for us." You tilt your head thoughtfully before lowering your empty cup and glancing at your companion. "Make preparations, Inanna. We're going on a trip."
At end of the week, you find yourself on a vessel accompanied by many people whom you entrusted to keep you safe during the journey. Sailing the sea, was a rather refreshing experience considering that you had been mostly surrounded by stacks of paper and accounting ledgers. You welcomed the sound of waves hitting the side of the wooden vessel and the faint smell of saltwater. On the third day, you found yourself staring at the horizon as Liyue Harbour slowly came into view.
The moment your ship docks, a curious crowd had already begun to appear at the port area. You don't recognize the faces among the sea of people as you are escorted off the boat by your two guards. A young man by the name of Bu'yun introduced himself as your guide and lead your party to Luijing Terrace. Before departing the port, you sent a few individuals from your party to gather information and get a better understanding of the current situation within Liyue. During the short walk, you keenly observed your surroundings. For a city that was on the verge of civil unrest, there were a few shops and people still going on about their daily lives and you can't help but be impressed at their perseverance.
At the entrance of the pavilion stood a pretty but formidable-looking young woman--you recognized her as Keqing, the current Yuheng. She gives you a bow, welcoming you to Liyue and apologizing for the lax decorum seeing as the public wasn't too keen towards members of the Qixing at the moment. You wave her off her concerns and allow her to guide you towards one of the main assembly rooms where most crucial affairs were discussed.
"Please follow me."
The doors open and you recognize the courtroom as the very same one that you had been falsely accused of instigating an assassination plot. The sound of chattering ceases as your small party walks into the room quietly. You approach the large conference table and steadily meet everyone's gaze within the tense space. You observed the mix of both new and old faces before Keqing directs you towards a reserved seat while being closely followed by Inanna from behind. You had noticed Lady Elahe hovering beside her significant other who seemed faintly dumbfounded at your appearance.
"We welcome the Representative of the Tizqar Commerce." An older man approaches you with a smile on his face, holding out a gloved hand and you merely nod at the man. "Thank you for coming to Liyue."
"The pleasure is all mine." You give his hand a firm shake, ignoring the looks of surprise from everyone within the council and slightly affronted expression of faces of your escorts before settling down into your designated chair.
The meeting begins shortly and you find yourself bombarded with questions regarding the trade deal and you listen half-heartedly. There had been growing complaints concerning the tariffs on a few products made in Liyue and you were aware for months now. The tax duties had been implemented a few years ago to encourage the people of Sumeru to purchase locally but also provide respite to the citizens who were struggling to purchase their own. It was only after learning that the citizens of Liyue had slowly begun to migrate to either Sumeru or Mondstadt that you offer to think the matter over and that seemed to satisfy some of them.
Halfway into debating the different methods to stimulate the economy, you propose the gradual reimplementation of the nation’s military force with a financial incentive, courtesy of your company of course. You pause abruptly before addressing the rather deep scowl on Elahe’s pretty face.
“It seems some disagree with my suggestion. If you have a problem speak up.” You motion for your assistant who takes a step forward and hands you a thick ledger. “Glowering at me will not help feed your people.”
“There is no war or conflict within these lands so we do not need to reinstate the Millelith.” One of the merchants, you recognized to be a supporter of the Sumerian noblewoman, spoke up.
“So, you would rather wait for something to happen?” You pause from writing and turn to your secretary who dutifully stood a step behind your chair. “How long would it take for hired help from Sumeru to arrive on these shores Inanna?”
“Seven days on a boat. Another seven if travelling through the land.” You nod thoughtfully as a coy grin creeps on the corner of your mouth. “It would take another two weeks at the very latest to hire more mercenaries from neighbouring countries if desired. Liyue at its current state can be easily taken within a month or so.”
That was a lie but it seemed that more than half of the assembly took your companion's words seriously--you were going to have to give Inanna a raise when you return home.
"That's quite important information, don't you think? Can't let the wrong people hear about such things."
You observed the occupants in the room with an appraising look on your face as they all began to talk at the possibility of being invaded and that it had been a mistake to dismiss the people who had kept the nation safe from both invading forces and monsters but also uphold order. Zhongli seemed to have noticed his significant other avoiding everyone's subtle but accusatory look and you can't help but add fuel to the festering fire.
"But if someone paid me a rather handsome amount. I am not averse to disclosing such details."
"Wait! That would breach the contract you signed a few weeks ago!" the young Yuheng abruptly stands from her chair, lavender orbs staring at you fiercely. “You wouldn’t go back on your word, would you?”
"You stated that you would assist the people of Liyue," Zhongli added as his amber orbs glowed in anger at your treachery.
"Hmm, I don't recall adhering to such a thing." Ah, you couldn't hide the mirth in your usually placid orbs as Keqing, Zhongli and a few members looked quite alarmed. "If you read it properly, I agreed to support the country's economy. Not protect its inhabitants."
"You underhanded shrew!" You almost roll your eyes.
"You deceived us!" Another shouted.
"You are nothing but a traitor!" This time Elahe was the one that spoke up. "We should have disposed of you years ago."
"Oh? A traitor, you say?" You find yourself trembling ever so slightly from the silent laugh bubbling in your chest before meeting the woman's gaze. "Well, it does take one to know one, right?"
If you thought the atmosphere within the space was tense, it increased three-fold and you could see how the members of the conglomerate stared at you in a mix of utter disbelief and animosity. The tension was quite palpable and no doubt your guards were ready to draw their weapons if any of the other occupants in the room decided to engage in a physical fight. But if she wishes to speak about conspirators, you would humour her.
"The night you accused me of false crimes and stripped me of my title then mercifully expatriated me." You remain seated as you stare at the couple, ignoring the confused look of the other attendees. "You taught me something considerably indispensable about myself."
You sharply turn your head to look at the said woman in question who seemed dumbfounded at the sudden attention. The both of them must have seen the uninhibited wrath that gleamed in your eyes as you continue to stare at them from across the table. You watch as she hid against the broad shoulder of your childhood friend who stared at you with furrowed brows.
"I'm not as merciful as you."
The Sumerian noble’s face turned ashen as you leaned your elbows on the table and linked your fingers together. The glimmer of a gold signet adorning your smallest finger doesn't escape everyone's attention and you watch in silent glee as the wretched woman recognized her kindred's insignia. In under two minutes, you watched as anxiety, disbelief and terror washed over her now pale countenance--you couldn't help but send her a wide smile.
"Using the Dhidah conglomerate's name and promising the Qixing ten million Mora." You close the ledger you had been writing in. "You cannot possibly think I will hand it to you when you are no longer part of the branch."
"Y-You! You can't be the head!?” The poor woman stared at you with wide eyes, clutching unto Zhongli's shoulder tightly as you ignore her, turning towards the leader of the Qixing who stared at the unravelling events.
"I'm rather willing to compromise though." Inanna deposits a document into your awaiting hand as you slid it towards the older gentleman. "I will give you a limited-time opportunity."
"What is it that you want?"
"Simply strip these two of their ranks from the council and give me Elahe.” You hear people gasping as you tap at the parchment, further explaining the terms in a simplified manner, the dangerous smile never leaving your face. "Then I will give you ten--no, twenty million Mora as well as aid you in the restoration of your beloved country. You have half an hour."
"Don't listen to her! She's nothing but a liar! " Elahe tries to approach the leader who glares at her with such intensity causing her to close her mouth.
"I-I need to think this over. I need a day."
"Elder, surely there is a better opt--" Zhongli tries to speak but you interrupt him.
"No. Half an hour." You repeat yourself adamantly. "Or I shall return to Sumeru by nightfall."
The leader of the Qixing stares at the document helplessly as he scrutinizes and deciphers the paragraph of any signs of deception. You watch quietly as the assembly gathered around the said individual, arguing and debating rather loudly amongst each other. Anytime either Elahe or Zhongli tries to speak, they are ignored or reprimanded for causing the predicament they were all facing. You can’t help but chuckle as you watch them betray their fellow countryman and ally all for their own self-preservation—How utterly revolting.
"Miss, it has been half an hour." You immediately open your eyes and turn your attention to the Qixing who seemed to have made a rather difficult decision--and it looks to be you will be getting what you wanted in the end.
You listen as the leader informs you of their decision and honour your terms. It wasn't as exhilarating watching as your former childhood friend and his woman lose their status and designations. You motion for one of your guards to apprehend the latter who struggled futilely, begging for her lover or anyone for help. With a motion of your hand, you watch as she is brought a few steps in front of you.
"L-let go of me! You can't do this to me!"
"Oh, but I already have, My Dear." You remain seated with your legs crossed and the ominous expression on your face is enough to send shivers down her back. "Justice awaits you in Sumeru."
Before she can retort or insult you any further, Elahe finds herself gagged and roughly hauled out of the room and into the waiting ship. You permit yourself a breath before slowly rising from your seat and straightening your clothes before thanking the room's occupant for their time and business.
"As per the agreement, I will be leaving you five million Mora at this time. The rest will be at later date.” With practiced grace, Inanna opens one of the nearby chests and the merchants stare disbelievingly at the overflowing golden coins that escape unto the floor. "I will see the rest of you tomorrow to further discuss the gradual implementation of employment for the citizens of Liyue."
You are about to turn away to leave the delegation but you pause to look at the familiar long-haired brunette whom you had considered your first love. His attention is on you after you call his name. The mere idea of Zhongli remaining unscathed from today's events only ignited your thirst for vengeance and you would be damned if he walked around a free man. You would make sure to let him have a taste of the humiliation and betrayal you had experienced all those years ago.
"Was the damage you have dealt not sufficient?" The geo-user's silky baritone retained a rather malicious edge and you can't help wish to torment him further.
"Surely, you didn't think that was the end, My friend." It doesn't take much for one to hear the pure spite in your voice as you unflinchingly stare back at those amber orbs. "Prepare yourself for not even the Archons can deny me of having my retribution."

Denial.
-- You really thought you could carry on being indifferent, but the truth is, no matter how adamantly you tried to detach yourself—He's been relentless when it came to pursuing you. The attraction between you two is fiercely palpable. It only takes a small push for someone to cross the boundary between personal security detail and client. Will you be the one to do so?
Characters: Diluc, Kaeya (ft. F!Reader)

Diluc
As the owner and CEO of Dawn Winery, one of the most widely-known wine companies in the continent, Diluc was accustomed to being in the public eye. It was shortly after the crimson-haired man had taken over his father's position that he had begun to experience being always swarmed by either reporters, paparazzi or fanatic admirers. It was though his father's recommendation that he decided to employ your services.
Who would have thought that after five years you still found yourself working for one of the most successful and eligible bachelors of Mondstandt? Sure, the profession was hard mental and physical work but you found it to be enjoyable and the most beneficial out of all your contracts. Furthermore, the fact that you received a salary with decent accommodations and had a healthy professional relationship with both your boss and other employees was enough for some of your service mates to turn green with jealousy.
After spending time with the rough and stoic redhead, you eventually came to learn of his preferences and habits. You accompanied the heir everywhere he went whether it be at a banquet to meet business partners, an abrupt visit to a few of his establishments or a short walk a few blocks away from the office. One of your most memorable memory had been when you accompanied him to a cocktail lounge to help out the staff who were short for the night. While on the way home, you complimented him on his bartending skills and he merely replied with a gruff thanks and averted his eyes to the window--even with the amber light coming from passing lampposts, you could see the faint red dusting his ears.
From there on your relationship began to shift ever so slightly and you found yourself doing a few more personal errands--from helping him purchase a few gifts for the administrative staff and following him to different new building locations as he planned to expand the company outside the country. It didn’t take long for the seasons to change and you found yourself abruptly leaving the company’s annual founding party with your drunk employer.
“Hang on just a few more minutes, Sir.” You glance at the young CEO from the rearview mirror. “We are almost at your home.”
You merely received a garbled response from your boss who had taken to haphazardly lying down in the backseat. You had been dutifully observing your surroundings during the party but failed to notice Diluc’s step-brother, Kaeya Alberich, who seemed intent on antagonizing the said man this evening and had underhandedly switched his regular glass of grape juice for actual wine. In your effort to rush the wine tycoon home, you had run over a speed bump and you heard a groan from the backseat to which you swiftly apologize. You prayed that the man would hold out until you reached your destination, afraid that he would start heaving in the back.
But of course, fate had other plans for you and it took almost another fifteen minutes to coax the tipsy man out of the car. If you thought Diluc was stubborn while sober, he could have been a mule in his past life. It took promises of doing him a few favours that he finally agreed to let you drag him out of the vehicle and towards the house.
"Sir, I suggest that you let the butler take care of you as soon as we get inside." You suggested as your boss hung onto your smaller frame while you tried to ring the doorbell.
"No one's 'ere." Diluc mumbled, hiccupping in between sentences. "Sent 'em all 'ome.”
Sighing softly, you reached into your coat pocket to retrieve the spare key before unlocking the front door. Once the door was opened, you began to half-drag your employer to his bedroom and help him sit on the mattress. You help the man with removing some of his clothing but opt to leave him with just enough garments, ensuring that there would be no misunderstandings between you two when morning comes.
"If you need anything just give me a call, Sir." You spoke while hanging his suit-coat and tie on a hanger then turning your attention back to your dopey-looking boss.
"You're leav-leaving?” He hiccups mid-question before reaching out to hold onto the sleeve of your dress shirt. "Stay.”
“Sir Ragnvindr, I-” You hesitate for a moment before glancing at the nearby wall ornate-looking wall clock to see that it was a little bit past midnight but the incessant tug on your wrist caught your attention again.
“No.” He tries to correct you all the while struggling to stay awake, his hold on your sleeve now moving up towards your arm. “Call me Diluc.”
Before you can remove yourself from your employer’s grasp, you felt his warm breath fanning against your cheek. It was only when you finally meet the man’s gaze that you found yourself struggling to breathe for a moment as bright ruby eyes bore into yours. You didn’t even notice how the two of you had drifted dangerously close and his hand holding unto you.
“S-Sir?“ His eyebrows furrow and you feel him tug at your arm to which you finally relent. “D-Diluc.”
“Yes?” The man merely whispers while slowly blinking at you. You can't help but notice how full and lovely his lashes looked against his pale skin. And those eyes—Those eyes you had spent years looking at but never really took notice how they shone so alluringly like glittering jewels even in the dark room.
“I--“
Your body involuntary stiffens as the man held onto your arm tightly and moved closer, enough for you to feel the warmth radiating off of him. You succinctly make out the sensation of the redhead's nose against the side of your neck and jaw. You can’t help but gasp audibly when you feel his soft lips trailing and mouthing against the sensitive area.
“Ah,” You could barely hear your boss murmur as his rich-crimson locks brushed against your cheek, while placing feather-light kisses. “You smell wonderful.”
“What—“
Heat surged through your face at the sudden onslaught of honyed words but just before you could formulate some sort of reply, Diluc tightly clutched unto your shoulder and abruptly bowed his head before emptying the contents of his stomach unto your lap. You froze in place with wide eyes, unable to make even a sound of surprise.
You ignore the damp mess on your slacks as you instinctively grab unto your boss who was dangerously tilting backwards, keeping him from crumpling against the headboard. Releasing a grunt, you finally manage to pry your boss’ hold on you and try your best to maneuver Diluc in a comfortable position before escaping towards the ensuite.
After a few minutes of trying to wipe down the mess with a spare face cloth, you finally decide that it would be best to change out of your soiled clothes as soon as possible—surely, the man wouldn’t mind you borrowing a pair of pants. Walking back into the room, you catch the redhead passed out on top of the sheets before deciding to borrow a pair of sweats located on the topmost drawer in his closet. Only after you had changed into the said article of clothing do you come back to make sure your boss was still resting comfortably.
You sigh and make your way to the kitchen to locate some painkillers and a glass of water. Returning to the darkroom, you settle the items on the bedside table alongside a note to call you if he needed anything. It wasn’t part of your job but you wanted to make sure Diluc wouldn’t feel suffocated from the heavy blankets but still be warm underneath. Without thinking, you reach out to brush long crimson locks out of his handsome visage. You briefly feel his nose pressing against the palm of your hand affectionately before you finally decide to leave for the night.
You make your way towards the door and glance at the sleeping individual, allowing yourself a moment to admire his peaceful features before softly closing the door behind you. After making sure to turn on the security alarm and locking the front door behind yourself, you opted to walk to your lodging. Taking your time, you looked up to the dark sky to relish the peaceful and beautiful scenery around you until you felt your wool-clad shoulders getting wet from the melting snow.
Shortly after showering, and taking care of your poor pants--you were going to have to bring it to the dry cleaners, you sat on your bed. You quietly find yourself reflecting on how time seemed to have passed rather quickly and how your life constantly revolved around the young heir. Speaking of your boss, you found yourself flushing at the rather bold move from earlier--It was rather uncharacteristic of him and you tried to reason that it must have been the alcohol talking.
But Archons! How could you bury the feeling of his well-defined torso hidden underneath his dress shirt as he held unto you with a vice-like grip? How could you avert your bewildered gaze from those half-lidded scarlet orbs that seemed to stare into your very soul? And how could you fight back when his voice dropped dangerously low just as took the liberty of trailing his lips on your jaw?
And those kisses! Until now, your neck still felt hot and you didn't know what else could have happened if he hadn't stopped. Your fingers unconsciously trail over the side of your neck where Diluc had graced with his lips and you cannot help but feel flustered. Wait, had you wished he had gone further?
"Damnit. He was drunk." You chided yourself as you swiftly buried yourself underneath the covers, willing yourself to halt any more indecent thoughts related to your boss. "Snap out of it."
Turning to your side, you opted to watch the snow that continued to fall from above for a few minutes to clear your thoughts. Moving closer to the window, you admired the sparkling particles that accumulated on your window ledge before a sudden gust of wind blew it all away. Based on the amount of snow, you concluded that you may have a difficult time leaving the house in the morning.
You had been given the day off tomorrow morning and you had initially planned to spend some time with your family but you couldn't find it in your heart to leave someone on what is supposed to be a joyous holiday. Thankfully, you had enough foresight to drop off your family's presents a few days prior and they had been understanding enough that you may be called in at any time due to your job. There was also the small, wrapped item perched on your small coffee table that was waiting to be given to its receiver in the morning. Snuggling under the warm covers, you find yourself easily lulled to sleep as both your mind and body began to relax after having a rather turbulent day.
The morning was quiet with you feeling slightly sluggish as you made your way into the shower. It was only after dressing in your usual smart attire and having a cup of coffee that you felt more awake. It had been a little past eight when you trekked through the snow to get to the main estate with the small package in your gloved hands. True to his word, Diluc had indeed given the housekeepers time off seeing as no one had greeted you upon entering the large home. After dusting yourself off and slipping out of your shoes, you walk upstairs to the master bedroom and gently knock on the mahogany doors.
"Sir? It's me."
After receiving no reply you entered the room only to come across your boss who looked to be still asleep. You slowly lean over the man and quickly retreat after seeing that he was indeed breathing under the thick blankets. Noticing the half-empty glass of water on the bedside table and missing painkillers, you concluded that he must have gotten up at some point in the night and taken them.
Gathering the glass of water and walking out of the bedroom, you found yourself in the vast kitchen looking into both the well-stocked fridge and pantry. It would be best to prepare something that would be easy on your employer's stomach alongside a warm drink. In the years you had worked for the frosty man, never had you thought you would be in a situation where you had to stand in as both a bodyguard and caretaker--Not that you were embarrassed at all! You were rather proud of your housekeeping skills.
Making breakfast was easy and within the hour you had a decent-looking tray of food: a bowl of oatmeal and sliced fruits with a side of sunny side up eggs, and a mug of black coffee. Taking the platter and carefully making your way upstairs, you announce your presence shortly while knocking on the door.
"Sir Ragnvindr?"
"C-come in."
Using your shoulder, you push the door open and find yourself being greeted by a mass of tousled red hair as its owner was trying to sit up slowly. The scene was rather ridiculous seeing your normally stoic-faced boss staring at you with wide eyes and his hair akin to a bird’s nest and you wearing a bright, frilly yellow apron over your suit.
"Good morning, Sir." You walk into the room without missing a beat, greeting him in the same calm and respectful tone every morning. "I hope you slept well. Are you feeling well enough to have breakfast?"
"I-" He tries to clear his throat before continuing. "I think so."
"Wonderful." You deposit the tray onto his lap, making sure that it was perfectly balanced as you continued. "Apologies if it's not the same as Miss Adelinde's."
"You-you cooked?" The dishevelled man stares at the hot breakfast on his lap before looking back at you, no doubt trying to wrap his head around the incredulous circumstance that he was in. "Isn't it your day off? Why are you here?"
"Yes." You gingerly hand him a napkin to place on his lap to which he accepts. "But I needed to come and check on you after what seemed to be a rough night.
Your words finally dawn on Diluc as an alarmed expression appeared on his handsome face rather instantly. For a man that should be suffering from a hangover, he was quite fast to catch on. With a shake of your head, you try to reassure him that everything was alright all the while trying not to reveal what you considered to be your own one-sided emotions.
"Last night, I wasn't in the best state of mind." Your boss tries to explain followed by a quick apology. "I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable."
"It was nothing I couldn't handle, Sir Ragnvindr."
You flash him a practiced smile to hide the uncomfortable throbbing in your chest. Denying it in your head was easy but refuting the existence of your feelings out loud was on a whole different threshold. Deciding that it would be best to let your boss have a peaceful breakfast, you give him a polite bow before making your exit.
"I'll be back later on--"
"It's fine." The man interrupts you, still not making a move to help himself to the spread on his lap. "I can manage. There's no need for you to come back."
Oh.
You mindlessly nod and give a polite bow to the company heir before wishing him a pleasant morning. Mechanically walking down the stairs and cleaning up after yourself, you eventually found yourself hanging the apron away. Deciding it would best to let Diluc have his peace, you opted to leave shortly after making another sweep of the house. It doesn’t take long to make sure everything was in order before you finally don your wool coat.
Diluc Ragnvindr was the perfect example of the upper-class echelon of modern society. Although you had worked for multiple affluent individuals, the said man exuded the impression akin to individuals coming from old money. It was foolish on your part to desire anything more than a professional relationship with him.
You were his security detail. Nothing more.
You scolded yourself mentally as you opted to walk back to your lodging in the knee-high snow. There was no point in dwelling in such one-sided affections and instead focusing on getting changed to see your family for rest of the day. Opting for more casual attire and letting your hair loose for a change, you were about to gather your purse when you heard your phone ringing and you immediately answer the call.
"Sir? Is something--"
"I'm sorry." You find yourself pausing as Diluc's gruff voice cuts you off abruptly. “I shouldn't have sent you away like that.”
"It's fine. I overstepped my boundaries, Sir Ragnvindr."
"No. You've never done that." You find yourself furrowing your brows, trying to make sense as to why your boss was acting rather odd. "In the years we've been together, You were always there. Watching and waiting patiently."
"I-It's my duty as your escort." You stiffen at the sudden direction the current conversation was going in and you could barely catch something moving on the front lawn of your residence.
"Really. Then again, you never disappoint." The young CEO sounds a bit out of breath while you finally walk towards your living room to peek through the windows only to see a familiar figure.
"W-why are you outside!?" You frantically make your way over to the front door to open it after realizing your boss was treading through the snow with no coat. "Sir Ragni-"
"Diluc." Amidst the snowy background, the shock of vibrant red tresses of your boss was quite a sight. “ I told you to call me by my name last night.”
The tall figure of the young CEO moved closer until you were only a few steps away from your door. You can't help but stare at him with a bewildered expression even as the snow drifted towards your smaller frame.
"Bodyguards don't go up and beyond like you do." The intensity in those vermilion eyes kept you from speaking as he takes a few more steps closer. You could barely register the fact that both of you were still holding your respective phones to your ears.
“I know because I've been looking at you too."
You couldn't move. Nor could you speak. Even with the cold breeze, you felt immensely warm. There had always been an underlying tension between you and Diluc but now it seemed to have sky-rocketed after his abrupt confession. He stood so close that you could feel the warmth radiating off him even if he wasn't clothed appropriately for the chilly weather.
"Don't act like you don't want it." His much larger figure almost towered over you and you felt his warm breath against your lips.
"But I-I'm your bodyguard, Diluc."
You try to grasp at the last of your reasoning but ultimately don't reject his advances as bare hands cupped your cheek, forcing you to keep his gaze on him. A shudder passes through your back as he releases an unsteady breath after trailing eyes trail over your slightly parted mouth.
"Then say no."
The tension between the two of you was quite palpable and you watch with bated breath as the handsome man leaned down, only stopping a hair's breadth away. But like the gentleman that he is, the young CEO of waits for a few moments for you to reject him--which never comes.
He kisses you tenderly, afraid that any sudden movement may scare you away and you can't help but melt against him. Diluc is compelled to deepen the kiss but doesn't press for more, seeing as he had already summoned every ounce of bravery in his body to finally confess to you after years of attraction. Having both of you admit your feelings towards each other was sufficient enough for the young wine tycoon.

Kaeya
A famous actor and model in Mondstandt. The said man is considered to be the country’s beau—due to his gorgeous looks and immense popularity that even grandparents wanted him as an in-law. In the years you worked as a security detail in the entertainment industry, you mostly found yourself bending to the will of a few celebrity clientele who sometimes made difficult demands. Initially hired to chaperone a different celebrity, it seemed like fate had other plans for you.
You had been walking around the perimeter of a venue when you come across the blue-haired man who seemed quite suspicious. Dressed in streetwear, a cap and sunglasses, you called out to the said individual. It was only when he spoke that you eventually recognized the voice of 'Mondstandt's Captain' and you offered to usher him to where he needed to be. Although the walk was short, both you and the actor talked about the drama series that he was currently in. Once by the door of his fitting room, he abruptly asked for your name and you gave it to him thinking that he merely wanted to thank you to which he does. You give the man a small smile as he waved back before entering his dressing room.
It was after you had completed a rather short contract for another that you were offered a new posting—Your superior had told you that the client specifically asked for your skills as a bodyguard. Compared to a few others, you were the least experienced among the handful of bodyguards. Most people considered you to be rather unintimidating due to your small stature but you had proven time and time again that you were the best when it came to providing excellent integrative security. Regardless, you decided to accept the offer thinking that it would be another brief contract.
Oh, How wrong you were.
It had been almost four years since you met the person you would be escorting. You vividly remember being taken aback as the famous Kaeya Alberich introduced himself as your new client, sending you a flirty wink while getting his make-up done for the day. You fondly recall the following weeks as one of the busiest ones you have ever experienced seeing as the man’s schedule has been packed to the brim. Fortunately, you found it quite easy to work with the said individual alongside his management team. Although the tanned man exuded the air of a charismatic playboy—an image that the public seemed to be eating up—he was rather considerate towards the staff members and that included you.
There had also been times where you found yourself in odd circumstances related to the actor who just claims that it was normal. To start with, the tanned man had insisted that you accompany him for lunch and if not, he's always making sure to buy you a sandwich or a bento box then depositing it into your hands before running off for filming. Initially, you thought he was merely trying to be nice since you had no choice but to keep him company--You didn't mind of course.
What did worry you was when the man had one-sidedly appointed you as an assistant and a proxy-stylist at the uncanniest of times? It had been a day before you had to attend an award ceremony alongside the manager and Kaeya when he sent various photos of him in different outfits, asking for your opinion. He wore an loose silk shirt which revealed a lovely view of his toned chest, pair of tight-fitted trousers that accentuated his lean frame and a fur-collared cape draped over his shoulder. It had been one of your favourite attires but you opted to reply with a respectful compliment in which he immediately retaliates with a disappointed emoji and a phone call.
"You have immaculate taste, Sir." You immediately state as soon as you pick up the call before adding. "Will that suffice?"
"That's it?" You almost laugh, picturing his slightly sullen expression. "Can't you be more enthusiastic?"
"You are handsome regardless of what you wear." You take a moment to think before deciding to tell him your real thoughts. "But with a smile like that, it's hard to care about clothes."
There is a silence that takes place between the two of you and you grew more concerned as it stretches on. Separating yourself from the earpiece, you glance down at the screen to see the call time; The call hadn't been dropped. Taking a moment to listen for any signs of distress, you finally ask if he was still on the line.
"Ah, Sorry." He quickly affirms with a chuckle. "I was just taken back. I never took you to be the sappy type."
"My apologies, Sir Alberich." All concerns you had few out the window and you feel a small smile appearing on your face. "Compliments aren't my strong suit."
It had been a few years and you still haven't assented to calling your boss by his first name. Even though the relationship between you and the actor was rather informal, you were adamant in addressing him as Sir Alberich in the hopes of retaining the line between client and bodyguard. It was mostly a selfish reminder to yourself not to get attached and that the flirting and teasing was nothing else but an act.
The days and nights easily bled unto one another and again you found yourself in an odd situation once more. The actor appeared on your front doorstep, dressed in street clothing with a cap to hide his hair and demanding that you accompany him for the day. Before you could take a step outside, your boss blocked your way by leaning against the door frame which caught you off guard.
“No. Not dressed like that.” The tanned man shook his head, smiling.
You glance down at yourself. Was there something wrong with slacks and a simple blouse? Unless it was something more formal then you would opt to change into a pressed button-up—
“You aren’t on the clock right now.” Kaeya states and you stare at him in confusion. “I’m taking you out.”
“Pardon me?” You barely manage to retort as the man grabs your shoulders, turns and walks you towards your bedroom.
“We’re going on a date.” He gives you a smile before adding. “Now quickly so we can go.”
The door behind you is closed and you find yourself in your bedroom, trying to make sense of what just happened. Sighing softly, you humour your charge and change into something less stuffy. Once satisfied with your simple outfit which consisted of jeans, a simple shirt and a knitted cardigan, you make your way into the living room where your boss seems to have made himself comfortable on your couch. You easily ignore the way he seems to be appraising you from head to toe while you gather essential items into your pockets, usually, you would be flattered.
“Catch.” You throw a pair of keys to which the tanned man grabs mid-air.
“Really?” His bright eyes almost sparkle in excitement as he tears his gaze at the object in his hand as to look at you. “You’ll let me drive today?”
“As long as you promise to stay on the right side, Sir.” You open the front door and glance back to see your boss a few steps behind, grinning.
“Don’t worry, you're in good hands."
The two of you get in the car and right after you both put on your seatbelts, the periwinkle-eyed man starts the car. It was only halfway into the car ride that you were silently questioning your decision in keeping your client company for the day. Not only were you going to have to keep an eye out for a possible appearance of photographers but there was also the mortifying chance that your tongue may slip valuable information—like how you held a deep affection towards your client for a few years now.
Kaeya begins the day by dragging you to a small bookstore to peruse the mystery thriller section. Unfortunately, the actor had decided to entertain himself by goading you into what type of literature you fancied in. You mindlessly motion to the nearest publication to your left, thinking that it was another thriller but lo and behold--it turned out to be a gossip magazine with your boss' face on it.
Simultaneously, you feel your face heat up while your eyes grow comically large. Before you could provide an explanation or defend yourself, the actor merely took a copy into his hands before shooting you a rather vampish smirk. Fighting every nerve in your body, you tried not to swat the magazine out of the man's hands as he antagonizes you.
Your client being the playful flirt that he was, doesn’t miss the rare opportunity to tease you and even offer to purchase the said publication and exclusively sign it for you. After a few minutes of bantering and friendly threats, you were able to somewhat convince your companion to make his purchase and leave the magazine behind as you move on to the next place.
The day stretches on with the two of you visiting multiple places such as a pop-up art gallery, a quaint café for some snacks and lastly a popular clothing store. You thought nothing as your client made a beeline for the women’s section all the while you kept an eye out for unwanted paparazzi or a few over-eager fans. Trailing behind the actor to the changing room, you were about to take a seat and wait when you felt someone yanking you back up. Even with the mask on, you could tell the man was grinning widely as he deposits the items into your arms.
“Try these on. I think these would look good on you." He begins pushing you towards the changing room.
“But Sir—”
“No buts.” Your client drops himself into one of the nearby chairs and looks at you with a smile, looking quite expectant. “Won’t you humour me?”
There was no point arguing with your boss as you resign yourself to playing along. You nod and sigh good-naturedly before making your way towards the changing room. It was only when you had undressed that you finally do take a good look at the dress that he had picked out. It takes a while for you to change into the outfit and you find yourself staring at your reflection in the mirror. The garment was charming as it both complimented your figure and your skin tone quite nicely--You weren't surprised at this point since the tanned man did have good taste when it came to fashion. Glancing over yourself one last time, you finally exit the changing room and walk over to your boss who was playing around on his phone.
"Took you long eno-"
Kaeya doesn't finish his sentence as he finally looks up at you after hearing the click of your heels stopping in front of him. You can't help but feel a bit flattered as amaranthine-coloured orbs widened ever so slightly. A few seconds pass and you can't help but squirm under the scrutinizing gaze of your boss.
"So this is what you've been hiding all these years." You ignore your companion's ogling while trying to disregard the embarrassment you felt. "You're quite lovely dressed like this."
You feel a small blush adorning your cheeks but you cover it up by raising an eyebrow at the tanned man. It was odd being complimented by Mondstand’s resident heartthrob but you can’t deny the warm feeling in your chest as you try to play it off. There was no way in high heaven or hell that he would be attracted to a simpleton like yourself.
"We should get going, Sir Alberich. " You glance at the small watch on your wrist before meeting your boss' eyes. "Just a moment. I shouldn't take too long."
Not waiting for a reply, you turn on your heels and make your way back to the changing room. Once in the confines of the small room, you press your cold hands against your hot cheeks to compose yourself. After feeling a bit more grounded, you began to unzip and remove the dress. With your shirt on and one foot inside your jean leg, you hear hurried footsteps making their way in front of your door.
"Quickly open the door.”
“I-I’m sorry?” If this was another one of his tricks, he was going too far.
“There’s a group of people inside the store and I’m sure they saw me sitting outside.”
You hear a commotion close to the sitting area where the tanned man had been sitting a few seconds earlier. The sound of footsteps and muffled voices soon became much more audible and you open the door to pull your client inside. Shortly after you had closed the door, several individuals entered the hallway leading into the fitting rooms.
"I swear I saw him entering this place." A girl's voice spoke alongside a few others who confirmed that they had indeed seen a man's figure going inside.
"We should check all the rooms." You froze and glanced at your companion who looked to be quite alarmed as well when the sound of doors being opened filled the small space.
You had dealt with a multitude of overeager fans in the years you had been employed as a bodyguard but it would be difficult in your current situation. You kick your pants off to the side and push the tanned man in one of the corners of the tight space and motion him to crouch down, effectively hiding him right behind your frame. Ignoring the sensation of your boss' chilly breath fanning over your bare thighs, you try to keep a composed façade. The doorknob to the changing room begins to turn rapidly and a cacophony of women began calling out.
"He's in here!"
"Ah! Really!?"
"Ohmigosh!"
"Kaeya! Can we get a photo please!?" That was followed by a series of hands slamming against the door and you take a breath before answering in an annoyed tone.
"Excuse me!" You call out loud enough for the people on the other side to hear. "There's someone in here changing!"
With that, the eager voices of many fans stopped and were instead replaced by confused and annoying complaints. You answer their questions and even open the door an inch to prove that you were in the room 'changing' into the dress from earlier.
“ Kaeya Alberich?” You blink incredulously at the group of women before cracking a smile. "You seriously think he's in here? With me?"
"I swear we saw him going this way!"
"All the other doors are unlocked and this was the only one being used." One of them stated. "That's rather sus. "
"Right! For all, we know you could be hiding him in there."
You feel your back prickle with nervous sweat as you tried to look rather innocent. Thinking quickly, you motioned for your crouched boss to grab your trousers that were by his feet. Once the cotton fabric was in your hand, you dug into your back pocket to fish out your wallet before unveiling a small photo. It was a long shot and unorthodox one but you considered yourself to be in a dire situation.
On that said piece of laminate, was a faintly smiling handsome young man with bright teal eyes, pale skin who sported light brown hair that was partially pulled back into a braided half ponytail, dressed in a pressed suit.
"Huh!?"
"That's--"
"As you can see," You smiled proudly as you waved the signed limited edition laminated card. "I wouldn't even take a second glance if Alberich showed up in front of me."
"You're crazy!"
"Kaeya's the most handsome in all of Mondstandt--no, Teyavat!"
"I wouldn't date him even if he asked nicely." You pray to the heavenly entities that your boss would stop grabbing unto your ankle as he struggled to keep his silent laughter in check. "Not when there's someone more striking like Albedo."
In under a minute, you had been able to successfully disperse the small group and you closed the door and listened to them slowly walk away looking quite disgruntled. Waiting for a few minutes until the coast was clear, you finally let out a sigh of relief. You glance behind only to find the tanned man still crouched on the floor, eyes bright with laughter as he tried to muffle his chuckles with the palm of his hand.
"We should go, Sir."
"What's the rush?" You ignore the grin on your boss’ face as he remains in place. "If anything we should wait a little bit longer.
“I suppose.”
You cleared your throat once but it seemed that your companion hadn’t gotten the hint. Ignoring the smirking man beside you, who didn’t seem all too phased by you changing, you quickly slipped one foot into the leg of your denim pants. Although you wanted to leave the premises quickly there was still a good chance that the Kaeya’s fans would be waiting around. Also, waiting a little bit wouldn’t hurt.
“While we are waiting, I would like to know since when did you become a fan of Albedo’s?” The man plucks the wallet from your back pocket just as you had your back to him making you jolt in surprise. You hadn’t even finished buttoning up your trousers and he was already at it!
“I don’t see as to why you are so concerned about my preferences, Sir Alberich.”
Once decent, you turn to grab your wallet only for the actor to raise it above his head, just out of your reach. You wanted to sock the infuriating man but you instead leaned up to try and snatch it out of his hold.
“Oh, I can’t help but feel hurt now that I’ve learned that I’m not your favourite.” Of course, not one to let an opportunity pass, Kaeya kept dangling your wallet overhead laughing.
“You’ll become my favourite as soon as you hand my wallet over.” You try to grab at the small item but unknowingly begin to lean over your boss in the process.
“Really now. Prove it."
Your attention is abruptly stolen when you feel cool breath against your collarbone making you tense. The relationship between you and your boss was friendly at most but there had been an underlying tension that only continued to grow as the years passed. Like a cord that had been tightly wounded, it was bound to snap at some point. Usually, you wouldn't have engaged nor entertained the actor's teasing and instead taken it all in stride but today, your boss had been acting quite forward.
"What?" You ask dumbly while the man repeats himself, eyes never leaving yours.
"I said to prove it. Better yet, tell me if it’s really Albedo that you prefer to be locked in here with.”
"T-this conversation isn't appropriate." Your brain short circuits as a slightly calloused hand raised your chin gently, forcing you to meet Kaeya’s gaze.
"Appropriate? I think it’s a little too late to be concerned about such things." Bow-shaped lips quirked up into a familiar smug smile as your boss continues. "Not when both you and I are guilty of fancying each other for a while now."
The statement was enough to make your cheeks darken with colour and your mind into overdrive. Generally, you would have disputed the claim and placed some semblance of space between you and the actor then dragged him to his next appointment in normal circumstances. You hadn't felt the strong arms that had been wrapped around your waist and lower back which effectively caged you in.
“S-Sir Alberich, this is—I’m not—!”
“Come now,” The dastardly man intentionally trials a finger down your clothed back making you shudder. "Why deny when we've both had known it for a while now."
You couldn't speak but somehow your hands had found themselves on top of his broad shoulders, loosely gripping the fabric of his shirt that it would surely leave wrinkles. In all the years you had trained to be one of the best in your company, never had you thought you would be held captive by your client. The space between you two was none existent and you swear every time you squirmed, your boss would not only tighten his hold on you but also press himself closer against your smaller form.
"Well?" He drawls while leaning closer. “Are you going to confess or will I have to coax it out of you, Sweetheart?”
You feel your brain short-circuiting as he draws closer to the point that all you could see was the tenacity in his lovely eyes. The tanned man had bent towards you, those fascinating orbs turning dark even under the soft light of the fitting room. You could feel your heart hammering in your throat as your boss delicately cupped the side of your face. Angling his head, you can't help but release a weak gasp upon feeling your companion's mouth brushing against yours.
The actor's sharp eyes were edged with thick dark lashes. They didn't curl up as if they hid his eyes from the world but not at that moment. Those periwinkle eyes shined with an emotion you recognized but had fiercely denied.
"This is crazy." You whispered weakly, no longer pushing the handsome man as he reaches up to lightly rub his thumb against your cheek.
"Yes, it is. But I don’t regret it."
At that moment, you come to realize the Captain that held the hearts of Mondstandt’s citizens—a man who was used to being waited upon by others and getting what he desired —was at your feet.
And right now, he was pinned between you and a wall and kissing. The moment your client brushed his lips against yours, you couldn't help but part them. Immediately, your breath is stolen and your hands found themselves pressed against a sturdy chest to which the thin shirt did nothing to hide. The moment you gasped for breath, a talented tongue slid into your mouth and an inarticulate sound akin to a growl came from the man before you.
You shouldn’t. But you couldn't help but meet his tongue with your own as desire begins to rush over your being--it was searing through your veins at an alarming pace. Intimacy was something you had experienced multiple times before but never had anyone kissed you so passionately. The kiss--It was decadent, hungry and hot.
Heated breaths mingled as you two finally separated, eyes bright and chests heaving. You could feel your heart thudding in your chest, and under your fingers, you could feel the tanned man's own heart was pounding too. If you two could kiss all night, you could sense that your boss wouldn't complain.
"Well?"
His voice was soft and dark. Those talented hands slid around your waist and up your back making you shiver. His hands were larger than yours and cool to the touch which oddly helped calm down your erratic heartbeat.
"This is crazy." You repeat yourself, unable to fight the smile slowly tugging at the corners of your mouth. "But I suppose I'm a bit enamoured with Mondstandt's infamous Captain."
"Finally, I got a confession after all these years." He chuckles while giving you a gentle squeeze. "Not an 'I love you' but it's a start."
"Apologies, Sir Alberich." You laugh and sincerely add. "I love you."
"Much better."
It takes a few seconds before you can untangle yourself from your reluctant boss. He doesn't hold your hand on the way out of the shop, understanding that he still had an image to protect. What he does do instead is keep a hand on your lower back as if protecting you from prying eyes. Again, he flashes you that mischievous grin as he hands you back your wallet making sure to brush his long fingers against yours longer than necessary. It is only when you return home that you realize Albedo's photo card has gone missing and you conclude that your client-turned lover had a hand in its disappearance.

You kept a watchful eye around your surroundings while trying to navigate the area surrounding Luijing Terrace. With the way you kept looking left and right, you received a few odd looks from people but you easily ignored it. Upon reaching the gallery that led to your workplace, you quickly made your way inside and briefly gave the posted Millelith a wave. Usually, you would stop for a few minutes to chat with Jinzhong but you would rather be within the confines of your quiet office.
"I would love to stop and chat-" You give the man an apologetic smile as he merely grins understandingly. "-but the boss would have my head if I don’t get everything sorted out today."
"Of course, of course. I wouldn't want to keep you from your duties." Jinzhong nods his head as you begin to make your way inside the building. "Have a lovely day and don't work too hard."
You hear the soft click of your heels against the stone floor as you hurriedly walked in. Once in front of the door to your abode, you release a small sigh of relief before finally going inside. Opening the windows, you allow the cool breeze into the stuffy room before approaching the small table adjacent to your desk. You begin your ritual of preparing the new blend of jasmine tea--courtesy of Director Hu--before settling down to begin your work.
Your thoughts drift towards the cheerful and lively head of the Wangsheng Funeral parlour. You can't help but remember the young woman fondly as she occasionally drops by to retrieve a few legal documents while sharing a cup of tea and some pineapple cakes. Although most people considered the young lady to be slightly eccentric, you still thought her to be a hard-working individual who thoroughly enjoyed her occupation—also, she made good conversation whether it came to Liyue’s history but also traditional poetry.
Furthermore, there was her mischievous demeanour which you considered to be harmless most of the time. But there were also occasions where her pranks went a little too far which led to either laughable situations or horridly embarrassing ones--either one making your stomach hurt from hysteria or anxiety. Unfortunately, you were the latest victim last week after she had coerced you into telling her one of your deepest, darkest secrets: You fancied a staff member of her’s—to be specific, it has been the handsome funeral consultant.
“Eh?” The crimson-eyed girl stared at you. “By consultant you mean—“
“Who else would it be?” You roll your eyes before picking at the half-eaten dumplings on your plate. “In most people’s eyes, he’s the ideal partner.”
“If you like listening to an old man rambling whatever comes to his mind then, yes.” Hu Tao spins her hat in her hand as a small grin becomes more prominent. “What else do you like about him?”
And you tell her.
You tell her how you found him endearingly charming as you catch him hesitating to knock on your office doors with a sheepish smile every time before inviting you to tea every other day. How he holds unto your much smaller hand as you both walk down the slopes of Liyue’s mountainous landscape to find the perfect spot to admire the view. Or how he makes your heartbeat erratically when he graces you with delightfully deep laughter when you both successfully haggle the price for a certain item from the merchants.
The young director of the parlour seemed to be immensely satisfied with your monologue, her blossom-shaped eyes brightly twinkling with mischief. You easily disregard how her face lights up like a Mingxiao lantern during one of Liyue’s festivals as you finally decide that you had gossiped enough for the night
“Awh~” Hu Tao whines softly as she rests her cheek against her open palm, grinning. “I think he may like you as well.”
“He does not.” You answer immediately before taking a final sip of your cool tea. “He would never.”
“Only one way to find out then.” The lively maiden hides her smile behind her cup of tea, eyes darting to something behind you.
“What are you so excited—“
“What if he’s listening in right now?” She asks out loud enough for the people seated nearby to hear.
You froze in your seat as the Director across you merely grinned. After a few seconds of silent terror, you realized that Hu Tao was merely making fun of you. You roll your eyes at your companion and begin to reach for your coin pouch, intent on paying the bill for both of you to halt the young woman from teasing you any further.
“Very funny, Director.”
“Oh, but I’m not joking.” The troublemaker giggled as she shifted in her seat to stare at the person behind you expectantly. “Won’t you prove her wrong, Zhongli-sensei?”
Before you could even gather the golden coins in your pouch, you heard someone chuckling and another clearing their throat a table or so from your own. The latter's voice was dangerously familiar and it made you pause ever so slightly to glance from behind you.
And there he was. The man you had been gushing about a few minutes ago was sitting with a ginger-haired individual whom you didn't recognize, citrine-hued eyes met yours for a good few seconds. You feel a surge of heat creeping up your cheeks as you avoided the consultant's gaze before gradually feeling it travelling down your back. Never in your life had you vehemently wished for lightning to strike you down that very same moment--Death seemed like a much better deal rather than having to face the overwhelming mortification you were experiencing.
It must have been karma or bad luck that clung unto you explaining why you were being placed in such a scenario and like any normal person, you dealt with it--By legging it out of there. Before anyone could get a word in, you found yourself standing up and scooping an absurdly large amount of coins from your pouch and onto the table before taking off. Even as you ran through the busy streets of the harbour towards your residence that night, the breeze did nothing to cool your hot cheeks.
That incident had been almost a week ago and now that you thought about it, you must have looked quite rude; blindly escaping in whatever direction without even a greeting or farewell. Fortunately, Hu Tao took it all in stride, showing up at your office within the next day with some legal documents in hand. The troublemaker only lightly teased you for leaving her behind but mercifully didn’t bring up the topic of Zhongli.
Speaking of the said man, You had been avoiding him for the whole week, pretending to be out of the office every time he would pass by. Initially, you had convinced both Miss Ganyu and Keqing to deal with anything related to the parlour but it seemed that even your co-workers were beginning to grow weary of the extra duties, even promises of bouquets of Sweet Flowers and bowls of Golden Shrimp Balls weren’t enough anymore. Suffice to say, you couldn’t possibly get away with brushing off your responsibilities any further.
Finishing the initial stack of documents in your hold, you eyed the tray that housed another pile of envelopes and papers before reaching for your cup of tea. Glancing at the nearby clock as you take a sip, you finally decide that there was no point in dawdling with your paperwork when you hear a soft knock on your door.
“Come in."
The gentle sound of a bell chiming accompanied by a pale blue-haired maiden made you pause—It was Miss Ganyu. The secretary timidly stuck her head into your office, looking slightly apprehensive before speaking.
“I have a visitor for you waiting outside.” You stiffen and stare at her anxiously. “They are—uhm—requesting to meet you immediately.”
“After lunchtime.” You glance at the Cryo-user who glanced behind her then back at you with apprehension. “But if they’re from the parlour I’m not here.”
“E-eh…” She stutters and before you could repeat yourself, you heard another voice coming from behind the large wooden door.
“Then I shall take an appointment after lunch, Miss Ganyu.”
Oh no.
You find yourself stiffening at the deep baritone, you recognized that voice even in your sleep and you immediately feel your heart rate picking up. Sending the Qixing’s secretary a distressed look, you tried to convey your thoughts but it seemed that it was useless as she returned it with an apologetic smile. Watching in horror, the half-qilin Adeptus closed the door to your office before softly apologizing to the visitor with her. Soon the sound of two sets of footsteps faded as both the consultant and Ganyu made their way to what you presumed to be the exit. Silence settled within the confines of your room and you can’t help but sag against the back of your chair.
Avoiding Zhongli had never been an option taking into consideration that he was—still is—an acquaintance of yours but also his profession meant you would have to face him eventually. There were only a few more hours until lunch and with the amount of paperwork on your desk, you couldn’t escape nor dally otherwise Lady Ningguang would have your head. As if awaiting your execution, you silently continued slowly finishing what seemed to be the third stack of forms in front of you.
It was the sound of a pair of footsteps stopping at the front of your door that keeps you on edge. You stare at the door for a moment as a knock is heard, contemplating if you should have hidden underneath your desk and pretended you weren’t in. The deep voice calls out your name before you finally resign yourself to your fate and permit him to enter.
The consultant remained clothed in the same dignified attire of brown, amber, and black yet you always find yourself drawn to the mysterious yet elegant air surrounding him. The man stands a few steps away from your desk and you greet him, intent on keeping your composure this time around.
“Good afternoon,” You motion for the man to take a seat on any of the multiple empty chairs in your office as you get up to brew a fresh pot of tea. “To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit, Zhongli-sensei?"
“Director Hu Tao sent me to retrieve some paperwork.” He picks the usual seat on the couch right beside the side table that housed a small lamp and a few trinkets.
“Ah, of course.” You wait for the water to boil after placing the clean tea leaves into the teapot whilst readying the porcelain cups on top of their respective saucers. “I could have sent it this morning to save you the trip.”
“I do not mind.” You hear him shift on the couch as you carefully plate the almond cookies you had received yesterday. “I was hoping to speak to you since last week.”
The plate within your hold almost escaped unto the polished floors if not for your quick reflex to catch it. Quickly depositing the fine china onto a tray, you try to keep an amiable expression before settling it on the table in front of the consultant. You busy yourself with serving your guest a cup of tea, careful to avoid his curious gaze then moving on to gather the necessary documents he needed. Neatly placing them into an envelope, you slid the parchment across the table with a passive smile.
“Here you go.”
“Ah, Thank you.” The brunette supplies elegantly as he takes a sip from his cup of tea before meeting your eyes. “You seem quite skittish these days, my dear.”
“You’re mistaken.” You try to convey your thoughts, wishing that the man would take the hint and leave quickly instead of him taking his sweet time. “It has been an unremarkable week.”
“Oh? Then I haven’t been seeing you sneaking around rather suspiciously around Luijing Terrace in the mornings?” You can’t help but feel your cheeks colour as the consultant flashes you a knowing smile. “My eyes haven’t been deceiving me, have they?"
“Curses.” You huff under your breath before finally deciding to sit down across from the man to help yourself to some tea. “Don’t you have better things to do in the morning?”
“I cannot help that you were in my peripheral vision.” You try not to roll your eyes as you finally take a sip of the jasmine tea. “Neither can I help to overhear other people’s conversations.”
"I never thought you were the type to be concerned with other's thoughts."
"Mnn…That is true." You catch him looking down at the amber-coloured liquid before his eyes snap up to meet yours rather abruptly. "But I am more interested in your opinion."
You almost spit the tea out. You could almost feel the sweat on your back forming as you struggled to formulate a remark. Opting to take a sip from your cup, you stare at the intricate carvings on the wooden table in front of you, trying vehemently to remain composed. He was surely hinting about last week.
"My opinion isn't that important." You returned his stare with a smile. "Besides, I'm sure you have better things to worry about."
You wanted to laugh as an elegant brow rose ever so slightly on Zhongli's handsome face as you deflected the topic at hand once more. As long as the man remained moderately congenial, which seems more than likely, you could waste the time away and keep him from inquiring any further on your slip up last week.
"I shouldn’t be worried about you refusing to see me at all?" You hear the concern in his gentle tone that it almost sways you to answer him truthfully. “Must you lie so blatantly?”
“W-why are you so engrossed about what happened last week?”
“I was indeed taken aback-” His voice is quiet as he gingerly holds unto the porcelain cup while those bright golden orbs pinned you in place.
“-But I cannot help but think I had done something to make you act out in such a way."
Damn it. You knew Zhongli had a way with words and always acted considerate towards but at this rate, you’ll continue to misunderstand and you need to put a stop to it before your heart gave out.
“It’s rather complicated.” You began as you avert your eyes while resting your cup on the table before you. “Also, I would appreciate it if you didn’t treat me so nicely.”
“And why shouldn't I favour you?”
"Because I am merely an acquaintance, Zhongli-sensei." You reply tersely before sighing softly. "I do not want to confuse your goodwill for affection."
A short silence followed. It was cowardly but you weren't brave enough to meet those golden orbs as you anticipate being rejected. There had always been a part of yourself that hoped that the lingering touches and smiles meant something but the more pragmatic side won every time--You were business collaborators and nothing else. At most, whatever personal relationship you shared would disintegrate and the both of you would carry on with life, like responsible adults. You would learn to accept that.
“Perhaps, I hadn’t been forthcoming enough.” That rich baritone interrupts your train of thoughts and you can’t help but look up to see the sincere look on the consultant’s visage. “But my affections had never been misguided.”
"Erm…I don't quite follow."
“I am captivated by you.”
“Eh?”
“Ah, perhaps enamoured would have been a better word?”
Had you been still nursing your cup of tea, you surely would have choked and made a mess. Regardless, it takes a few moments longer for you to process his words, trying to decipher the man's thoughts and intentions. Had you misheard or maybe hallucinated? The confession had caught you off guard, you couldn't help but freeze in your seat and blink owlishly at the man who wordlessly leans closer. His lithe form draws closer from across the small table between you two, effectively taking hold of your much smaller hands.
“Were my words not sufficient?” Your lack of response seems to greatly amuse him, citrine-hued orbs glowing faintly. "Would you rather I prove it with actions instead?"
“No! I mean-! Yes! The-the words are m-more than enough!" You stutter and grow warm as the man chuckles. "A-also, must you be s-so close?”
"Preventative measures." You feel slender gloved fingers slipping in between your own smaller ones with grace. “My lady is quite notorious for making swift escapes."
You groan internally, trying to ignore the teasing tone all the while struggling to make sense of the current situation. Here you were, precariously sitting with the man you had been pinning for in the last few years and who had also very succinctly admitted his infatuation towards you within the last hour. Archons, it felt like your head was swimming.
Had you potentially fallen asleep whilst you were writing out a report halfway? The man in front of you wasn't physically in your office and this was all an elaborate dream. Even your mind was plagued by the handsome funeral consultant. Ah, maybe you could use this as an excuse to go home earlier than usual--
"I can assure you this isn't a dream.”
Your thoughts are easily derailed as the brunette draws gentle soothing circles in the back of your hand. You could barely muster up a reply when Zhongli tilts his head to the side, his mouth tilting upwards ever so slightly at having caught you.
"Wait. You heard me?”
“Yes, Dearest.” You can’t help the groan that leaves your lips whilst attempting to hide your face with your other hand. Thankfully, the Geo-user remains quiet as you struggle to compose yourself for a minute.
"I-I can't seem to hide anything from you."
"Mnn…As I said before, I am enamoured with you."
The lean fingers that interlocked with yours remain in a firm hold as if the man in front of you refused to let you pull away even for just a moment. The gentle tug of your hand forces you to meet his gaze once more.
"I have spent forever and a day gazing at nothing else but you."
There is a softness in his deep voice and you are caught off guard the second time around. You watch in surprise as the elegant man closes those captivating eyes and at the same time raised your connected hands to brush his lips against your knuckles. The act was chaste, almost reverent-like that it left you speechless. You cannot help but feel an overwhelming sense of love as you remain on the edge of your seat.
"Now are you going to keep running away?"
"N-no." You barely manage to answer.
You barely register the gloved hand of the funeral consultant releasing your own. The brief loss of contact was somewhat disappointing but it was rather short-lived as the same hand caught unto your wrist. The man had risen to his full height and towered over you, flashing you a small smile all the while gazing at you almost adoringly underneath long lashes.
"I'm glad to hear that."
The golden rings that adorned his fingers both grazed your warm skin and caused goosebumps to appear as you feel the appendage slowly travel higher up until it cupped your cheek. You watched in a daze as the man leaned in closer, bending his head down only stopping a hair's breadth away before asking in a whisper.
"If you wish for me to stop, now would be the time."
You say nothing but the wistful, pleading look in your eyes was enough of an answer. He is gentle, moulding his lips softly against yours until you finally had enough courage to kiss him back slowly after closing your eyes. The sensation leaves you breathless and as you press an open-mouthed kiss albeit hesitantly, the man above you made a sound akin to a low growl before parting his lips.
It felt like an eternity before the two of you finally parted, the sound of heavy breathing filled the office as you stared at the Geo-user in a muddled stupor. The sound of your erratic heartbeat filled your ears as you struggled to even your breathing. You barely hear the soft tolling of the small wooden clock hanging on the nearby wall, signifying the end of an hour.
"Ah, I'm afraid my appointment has ended."
The warm hand that cupped your cheek slid down to rest against the side of your delicate neck as you finally open your eyes to meet mirthful golden hues. Archons, this man will be the death of you.
"Worry not. I shall be back, later on, to accompany you home if you would like."

-- That periwinkle eye of his narrows in amusement as he leans in dangerously close, stopping only a few seconds before meeting your lips in a searing kiss.

It took more than half a year for him to finally get a chance to know you better and if he hadn't tagged along on some commissions, he wouldn’t have had the pleasure of seeing you at work. He could barely contain his intrigue when you had blocked a volley of arrows with deadly precision before bounding towards the large group of Hillichurls across the plain of grassland, sword in hand. To him, you were stunning.
It had only been when both Lisa and Jean had invited you to for dinner at the Good Hunter that he had learned--from Lisa-- that you were an alcohol connoisseur of sorts. From there on he had made sure to invite you to a few nights of drinking with him at the tavern exchanging stories from your travels and his adventures with the Knights.
He truly enjoyed your company, especially when the two of you bonded over alcohol and traded gossip concerning the latest things happening in the city. Kaeya had a tendency to be charming but he couldn't help but want to seem more of the rosy tint adorning your visage when he gave you compliments out of the blue. Fortunately, you weren't averse to his teasing and played into it easily. He couldn't count the times he wanted to lean in and claim those wicked lips of yours.
He had started with brushing your hair back as you eagerly listened to his stories. He's kept a light hand on your lower back as he led you out the bar to walk you home after a late night. You always thanked him with a smile and a lingering touch on his arm before disappearing behind your home's front door. There are days where he sees you around the city streets and he cannot help but follow your form with a longing eye before unwillingly carrying on with his duties.
It was only on the last day of the Windblume festival that he had invited you to partake in the different festivities for the day. The Cavalry Captain had bested you when it came to gliding and collecting the different flower balls that decorated the sky above Falcon Coast. The said man merely grinned as he watched you struggle with the task and eventually held his arms out to you as you landed on the ground, keeping you from landing into a rather deep puddle. The afternoon was spent visiting the different stalls, trying out various delicacies from Mondstandt and listening to the bard clad in green singing by the foot of Barbados' statue.
Evening came and soon enough you had found yourself standing in front of your front door after being walked home by Kaeya. In your arms was a delicately arranged bouquet of Windblumes--a gesture that was not lost on you. The two of you conversed throughout the whole day and yet it seemed that it hadn't been enough time.
"I had a wonderful time today." You smiled at your companion as you remain holding unto his arm. "Thank you, Sir Kaeya."
"Since when did you start using my title as a way to address me?" He lifted an eyebrow at you in amusement as he leaned in a little too close, you could almost feel his breath fanning over your cheek. "Is this some type of trick?"
"Since now." You laugh breathlessly, feeling yourself flush. "What should I call you then good sir?"
"How about…'Mine'?" His bright periwinkle eye bore unto you and you couldn't help but feel flustered at the suggestion. "I could be yours'.
You can't help as your eyes widened and the feeling of heat surged to your chest and neck. The taller individual merely lifted his calloused palm to cup your quickly reddening cheek. You barely register his cool touch against your face, mouth agape and breathless from the implication of his alluring words.
"Well, what do you say?" He grinned as his thumb brushed over your bottom lip. "What? Cat got your tongue?"
It was rather rash but a part of you wanted to shut him up for once but there was also the need to convey the pressing feeling that you had been harbouring these past few months. You easily closed the distance between you two, his lips meeting yours and he had easily maneuvered his hand from your chin to cradle the nape of your neck.
His other hand snake around your waist slowly, caging you against him as he tries to deepen the kiss. He tastes faintly of the Windbrew from earlier and you could barely bite back a moan when he gave a particular lick on the inside of your mouth. He breaks the kiss with both of you trying to catch your breaths. His uncovered eye was hazy and you could see faint traces of your lipstick on the edges of his bow-shaped lips.
“I suppose that’s one way to answer my question.” The man laughs softly, leaning in again to nuzzle his face against your cheek.
“That’s what you get for having a smart mouth.” You reply as you bury your face into his shirt, inhaling the comforting scent of almond, plum and tobacco leather, something you had grown to like immensely.
You two stayed like that for a moment before the resounding chime coming from the City's Cathedral signalled the end of the two-week festival. Kaeya hesitates from pulling away until you separate from him, still carefully holding onto the flowers he had given you. The arm was still wrapped around your waist but this time the tanned man had taken to playing with your belt loop.
"As much as I don't want this day to end." You mutter softly as you keep your gaze on your lover's, paying no heed to the playful tug on your waist. "It's getting late and we both have work in the morning."
"The knights can survive without me for a few hours," Kaeya muttered as he swooped down to steal another short peck from your lips before straightening up. "But I suppose you must be tired from all of today's fun."
The handsome man merely flashed you that well-known flirtatious grin before making a motion to leave. You catch how he held unto your other hand until the last moment he had to walk away and you feel something in your chest bubble delightfully. You stand there, waving at him until he rounds the corner towards his own home before you head upstairs to your flat. You could barely sleep that night, tossing and turning under the covers as you can't help but recall how he had easily swayed you with his honied words and the infatuated look in his eye--and let's not forget the almost mind-numbing kiss you had shared.
It had taken Kaeya a few more months to convince you into sharing his apartment. Suffice to say, your days and nights became more enjoyable as your lover's constant presence brought a sense of comfort as well. Mornings were always started with coffee and plans for the day are shared before you are both out the door. You don’t see each other until the late afternoon for a short break. The weekend nights are usually reserved for meeting friends and sharing a few drinks at Angel's Share. You laughed when Kaeya said how odd it was that the both of you effortlessly eased into domesticity.
The tavern was especially rowdy today as various people made their way in and out of Angel's Share. You gave a few waves and smiles to those you recognized all the while remaining perched on your seat by the bar, nursing your second glass of Berry and Mint Burst. It had been half an hour since you had arrived and although you were expecting your significant other to appear some time soon, you had learned to entertain yourself.
Kaeya had been the one to suggest that you both meet for an early dinner and you had finished your tasks for the day. Even as the tavern became bustling, Charles had been lovely enough to chat with you as he continued to serve the alcohol whilst keeping you updated on the latest information in the city.
"Anything interesting happening recently?" You inquired before taking a sip from your cold beverage.
"Ah, well there will be a new grocer opening a few blocks away." Charles supplied as he finished wiping a glass. "I heard they're from Fontaine and most items will be imported from their homeland."
"Ah, then are you thinking about changing up the menu sometime soon?"
"Most likely, we will need approval from Master Diluc first but it seems we may also serve a few new dishes as well."
That had piqued your interest easily and the both of you began to chat about the different drinks that Angel's Share may be serving in the future. If possible, you would try to persuade Master Diluc to try acquiring a few bottles of the famous but refreshing Sherry Ale from the Fontaine. You wouldn't mind having to pay a premium for the drink if it meant you could lay back and enjoy it on a hot summer's day.
You were about to take a sip of your drink when you felt cold hands tracing the back of your spine causing you to almost yelp in surprise. A chuckle and the familiar baritone of your lover's voice filled your ear as he wrapped an arm around your waist.
"I'm wounded that you started without me, Sweetheart.” He gave a teasing grin before pressing a kiss against your cheek. "Had you been here long?"
"About half an hour." You smiled as the navy-haired man huffed before settling on the stool beside you. "Charles has been kind enough to keep me up to date on the latest."
"Has he now?" Kaeya gave a quick look over at the resident bartender before giving him a charming smile and nod of thanks as the said man slid over a glass of Death After Noon before tending a group of adventurers. "Anything new I haven’t heard yet?"
"Mnn…" You pondered as you gave your drink a swirl with a flick of your wrist. "Nothing of importance to report, Captain."
Kaeya laughs as he takes a sip of his drink, glancing over your figure as you retain a collected countenance. In the year you had been together, you had always intrigued him with the air of relaxed elegance. You’ve only continued to captivate him ever since you had responded to a posted commission by the Knights of Favonius.
"Jean has offered to give me a day off tomorrow," Kaeya says as you finish the last of your drink before asking for another. "Woah, slow down sweetheart."
"Are you worried?" You feel slightly tipsy but cover it with a light laugh, helping yourself to one of the chicken skewers from your significant lover's plate. "You did take your time, leaving me all alone to entertain myself."
You hear the melodious laugh of the man beside you as he reaches around your form. You jolt when you feel your stool being pulled towards him accompanied by the sound of wood scraping across the floor. And that periwinkle eye of his gleamed dangerously as he gave you a knowing grin.
"My poor princess, what should I do to make it up to you then?" You almost lose your hold on the glassware when you find Kaeya leaning in close to the point that his lips brushed against your heated cheeks ever so lightly. "Want me to take you home?"
"That would be most appreciated."
You startle at the voice of the tavern's owner and you meet irritated crimson orbs as you struggle to put distance between you and the Cavalry Captain. You feel embarrassed having been caught having an intimate moment but the navy-haired man beside you merely took it all in stride, realizing his hold on your waist but not moving an inch away from you.
"Ah, wouldn't that affect sales, Master Diluc?" He asks while wrapping an arm around your shoulders casually. "Throwing out your well-paying patrons all of a sudden."
"You still have an outstanding tab from the last time both you and the bard were here." The red-head doesn't even glance up from the silverware he was currently polishing.
"Oh come now, I always pay by the end of the week though."
You avert your eyes to read a new poster on the wall as Kaeya conversed with his adoptive brother who slid another Berry and Mint Burst in front of you. You gave Master Diluc a thankful smile before taking a sip of the drink. Not wanting to take part in Kaeya’s fun and his brother’s expense, you turned your attention to the nearby wall, examining what had been written on the different papers.
As you continued to read the various parchments pinned to the wall, you feel your lover's hand beginning to wander down your left thigh, languidly caressing circles. You tense up ever so slightly as you feel the ticklish sensation against your inner thigh before you feel him tugging up at your skirt. He doesn’t even look at you as you glanced over in his direction, only continuing to converse with his brother who looks like he wanted to be anywhere but behind the bar right now.
You could feel his fingers lifting your skirt and you can’t help but squirm in your seat when you feel your legs being exposed to the cool air. It only took a few moments for your lover to situate his hand in between them, a finger rubbing gently against your crotch slowly and you fight back a yelp.
Thankfully, you had been facing the bar and you had been angled away from the door that no one could see the hand that was between your legs. You try your best to keep your face collected as you struggled to squeeze your companion’s wandering appendage between the plush of your thighs. After a few minutes of trying to push his hand away, you find yourself bucking against those fingers weakly, struggling to even hold the cold drink in your hands.
You can't help but press the cold glass against your lips in an effort to muffle your gasps as your lover continues the relentless teasing. The said act was highly indecent and but you can't help but grind harder against the feel of Kaeya's talented fingers--the thought of some patron catching onto what was happening under the wooden bar was mortifying but at the same time--making you quite aroused. You barely feel the man beside you whisper in your ear.
"Tell me, what's got you so flustered?" He flashes you a smile that turns devious as he presses against the damp silk of your panties, whilst you glare at him half-heartedly.
"K-Kaeya!" You hiss which only compels him to pet your clothed sex, rubbing roughly and earning him a soft gasp. "N-not here."
"But you seem to be enjoying yourself."
“N-no, I’m not.”
“Hmm… But you did say I should try and make it up to you."The cavalry captain merely chuckles as he meets your flustered visage eyes glaring at him from underneath long lashes.
"B-But…Here?"
“Why not?” You feel his fingers tugging your underwear to the side, dipping the tips of his talented digits against the slick folds. “What’s wrong? Can’t handle a bit of fun?”
“Wait-!”
In that same moment, you hear your name being called out and your eyes dart to look behind your lover’s figure. You recognize the newcomers as some adventurers from the guild who you had accompanied in the past. They take a few seats adjacent to where you both were situated at the bar. One of the individuals from the group had called out your name and you try your utmost best to act normal, albeit giving them a weak smile and wave.
Thankfully, the man beside you had stilled his fingers as they say hello to him. He gives his trademark smile and acknowledges them with a nod of his head, but before you could engage with a bit of small talk, you feel a thumb leisurely dragging against your clit. You struggle to retain the friendly smile on your face while releasing a stuttering breath between your clenched teeth.
Your lover merely watches how you struggle to string together sentences, immensely pleased at the situation at hand. It was rather risqué watching the small fleeting expressions on your face as you try to delay your impending orgasm. It was cute that you try to include him in the conversation and as he responds to some inquiries from the adventurers, he slowly presses a digit into your weeping entrance almost making you keen out loud.
He places his elbow on the counter, resting his cheek against the palm of his vacant hand looking quite pleased. He begins thrusting his finger in languidly, feeling the tight wet heat convulse around him--He watches you stutter for a moment as he curls his finger at a particular spot. Kaeya is quite impressed that you are able to keep yourself from falling apart and it only urges him to push you a little harder.
His thumb rubs fleeting circles on the hood of your clit before pressing another digit into your entrance. He almost groans as he feels how wet you are, easily swallowing his fingers as your shoulders trembled ever so slightly. So far it seemed that none of the bar-goers had taken note of how you squirmed in your seat and he watches as you tighten your hold around your drink, your fingers twitching sporadically.
The group of adventurers eventually make their way to one of the tables a few meters away and bid you a good night. You smile at them and then glare at the man beside you, wanting nothing more than to smack him.
"S-stop Kaeya!" You hiss in a panic. "W-we're going to get caught."
"We won't if you act normal, Princess." The captain can't help but push his fingers into your soaked walls, relishing at how you bit your lip while your weeping hole spasmed around them.
"Now, relax."
He continues to observe your visage, noting how you muffled what sounded like a soft moan into your palm. You feel his fingers reaching inside of you, eagerly stroking a specific area that makes you grip the bar's countertop. You knew that it was a losing game but you can't help but continue to scowl at him, trying to remind him of the patrons and tavern staff in the vicinity.
"A-at least take me home." You speak behind your hand, hiding your reddening cheeks.
"Aww…But that would take too long, Sweetheart." A squeak escapes you as you feel those talented fingers begin to pick up the pace. "Don't you want your reward sooner?"
You glance at him with wide teary eyes, biting your bottom lip weakly. You try to shake your head but the navy-haired man merely curls his digits and thrusts his fingers against that spot and you almost miss that intense lustful gaze he was giving you. His cool blue eye burned with lust as you lean against the countertop, attempting to hide your flushed face and heaving chest. It took a few thrusts into your core and you easily come undone, almost blacking out at the rather intense orgasm.
You swear you could almost smell your arousal as your significant other gives your soaked cunt a light tap before retracting his hand from the apex of your still trembling thighs. You gasp weakly and try your best to regulate your breathing and steady the tremble in your legs--you pray to the Archons that the stool retained no evidence of your rather public tryst with the Cavalry Captain. You had half a mind to berate him but that easily turned into astonishment as you catch him smoothly slipping his two fingers into his mouth.
"Mmn..." He gives you a hum of delight, mouth quirked up into that coy smile before moving his fingers away and licking his bottom lip for good measure--you can't seem to look away from his piercing gaze. "Delicious as always."
That was enough to have you clenching your thighs together, feeling the familiar sensation of heat pooling in your abdomen once more. You could feel yourself flush all over as the navy-haired man shamelessly eyed you up and down, noting how his gaze lingers on the bottom of your skirt before meeting your eyes.
Feeling a little more brazen, you angle your face towards him and pull at the lapel of his coat aggressively sending his lips to crash unto yours. You relish at the rather bewildered expression on his face as you give his bottom lip a hard bite before releasing him.
"You never fail to surprise me," A low breathy laugh escapes him and you could see the way his eye flashes dangerously that you were in deep trouble once you arrived home. "Let's go."
He spends no time in paying for your drinks and food, not bothering to wait for the change, and you were tugged out of your seat and out the door. The two of you exited the establishment and walked towards the building where your shared flat was located. It was torture and it seemed that getting home took longer than usual even as you both took the same path every day. You watch as your significant other unlocks the door with ease and you immediately follow him inside only to be pinned against the wooden door with Kaeya's lips coaxing yours into an open-mouthed kiss.
"Hnghh!" His tongue slipped into your mouth and you could still feel the distinct taste of alcohol. It was rather erotic, how he seemed to want to devour everything from your reddening lips to the muffled moans escaping your figure. The hand that once lingered on your hip had travelled underneath your skirt, groping at the flesh of your ass.
It seemed like forever when Kaeya finally pulled back from the kiss, leaving you a dazed and panting mess. You could barely remember how you had hooked a leg around his waist and his hands trailed up towards the underside of your breasts then cupping them roughly. You wanted more and it seemed that your significant other had the same idea.
"Should we continue this elsewhere?"
"Y-yes." You could only frantically nod and he hooks your other leg around his waist before lifting and carrying you towards the bedroom.
You moan weakly as he alternates between heated kisses and leaving hickies against the column of your neck. The moment he pushes you down against the soft mattress and you note the hardness pressing against your inner thigh. You can't help but moan as you stare at his considerably heated, heavy and clothed member--Oh, how you wanted to feel him inside you so desperately
"May I?"
His cool fingers trail against the hem of your skirt before caressing and tugging at the waistband of your underwear underneath. You lift your hips and he eases the silk material from underneath your skirt, gathering your panties in his hand before flashing you a devious smile. Unable to look away, you bite your bottom lip as he presses his nose against the damp crotch of your underwear.
"Sweeter than the finest wine." His low voice sent a surging heat throughout your whole body, causing your thighs to twitch in anticipation as he merely nudges your legs apart with his other hand. "I can't help but get addicted to this."
You feel your skirt being hiked up as his other hand unbuttons the rest of your blouse, exposing your bosom. His tanned hands ghost over your breasts, expertly finding your nipples before tweaking and teasing them. He fondles and kneads at your flesh and a hiss escapes you when he strokes the sensitive peaks.
"Ahn!" The sound of your gasps only fueled him as his mouth found itself latched unto your breast, licking your nipple with relish as his other hands found its pebbled twin.
After what seems to be an eternity, your lover relinquishes his mouth from your glistening breast, hands a flurry of hurried movements as he tries to remove his clothing. You remain on your back, admiring the sight of his taut abdomen and chest slowly being revealed as he pulled his dress shirt over his head. The Cryo-user's lips curve once again into that devious smirk of his, promising you of sexual satisfaction.
Once Kaeya had been rid of his constricting clothes, you both continue to grind against one another, neither refusing to stop as you kept your eyes on each other. The sound of groans and soft panting fills the room and you wanted nothing more than the man on top of you to pin you down and slowly split you open.
"Kaeya, Please-!" You finally cave in, unable to fight the lust that has been wreaking havoc in your feverish mind. "I-I can't wait any longer."
The urgency to be filled almost made you lose your mind and the dull throbbing located in the apex of your legs was growing unbearable. The sight of you spreading your legs and lifting your own skirt to reveal your arousal covering your inner thighs went straight to his cock. He wanted nothing more than to lap at the viscous liquid that created multiple strands between your legs and delve his tongue into your twitching entrance but he couldn't wait any longer.
"I've never thought you were this lewd. It makes me want to ruin you further."
He kisses you ravenously and you go weak against him, hardly putting up a fight. The way he explores your wet cavern earnestly as if staking a claim over you was almost enough to make you cum. He braces a hand next to your head, his lips pressed against your swollen ones even as he gently hoisted a leg over his broad shoulder. The navy-haired man only pulls back ever so slightly when you feel his heavy length tracing against your lower lips.
"Hah…Then make sure to hold unto something." He chuckles darkly as he watches your face scrunching up in longing, mouth slightly agape as he drags the head of his cock against your entrance.
Without any warning, the navy-haired man slowly eases his length into your awaiting sex. Your hand clutches onto his shoulder while the other forms into a fist, gathering the sheets underneath you. You shudder at the strange sensation--it wasn't painful but a bit uncomfortable as the man on top of you pressed deeper and finally completely sheathed himself. You keened and instantly tighten around his cock when he began to move at a slow pace, accidentally brushing at a sensitive point.
"Ahh, N-not so suddenly, Sweetheart." He growls, trying to ground himself and ignore the impending need to mindlessly pound into you.
"I-I can't take it." Your heart pounded and you struggled to form a coherent sentence when your lover tugged you close, pressing his twitching length in a certain angle that made you whimper. "Faster, please, faster."
Ever since he had the notoriously lascivious idea at the tavern, you had been a walking mess. It was his fault that you were horribly aroused, almost reduced to a state of neediness when he granted you an orgasm and continued to play with your heated body like a toy. You can't help but curse at how he had turned your body to become erogenous and how you react to his touches so easily--it was embarrassing to admit that you had become so needy.
"Please Kaeya," You beg as tears begin to form in your eyes while your hips try to meet his own fervidly. "J-just ruin me a-already. I-I can't s-stand it anymore."
Something within the cryo-user snapped as he watches tears of desperation trailing down your reddening cheeks as words stumbled out of your panting lips. He tightens his hold on your waist before snapping his hips upwards, his gaze darkening considerably. Your back arches off the bed as a cry is ripped out of your throat.
"Damn." The man above you doesn't seem to care as he starts his relentless thrusts, watching at the enraptured expression on your face.
"Kaeya…Ahn…!" You could only helplessly cry out his name as he hastened his thrusts, allowing you to feel his length drag against your gummy walls before filling you once more.
Your lover remained hunched over your trembling form, keeping a bruising hold on your waist as the other held your legs open. He was fascinated at the lewd sight of your pussy parting and taking his member, the obscene image of his cock enveloped by a thick ring of both his and your slick was almost enough to make him come. Kaeya wanted nothing more than to reduce you into a sobbing mess.
"Ah! Kaeya-!” You could barely recognize your voice as the man gives a particular thrust, sending you into a fit of sobs as he presses against the erogenous spot.
You cried out at the unyielding movement as a strong wave of pleasure hit you when he reached deeper. You can't help but throw your head back and muffle your whimpers desperately with the back of your hand, feeling yourself tighten almost violently around him once more. Dark spots begin to appear in your vision as you come undone. He watched as your waist trembled from the intense climax, relishing at how your entrance contracted furiously around his cock as if desperately seeking to milk more of him.
Unfortunately, it seemed that the Cavalry Captain was nowhere near his orgasm and every time your lover moved against you, his chest rubbed against your hardened nipples whilst his pelvis brushed the engorged bud to the point that it had emerged from its hood. It had felt like hours since you had entered a state of mind-numbing pleasure and pain. You couldn't help but sway your hips lewdly against Kaeya's as he kept a tight hold on your waist once more.
"The sight of you arching your back when you cum is so beautiful.” He sucks gently against the area where your pulse was all the while praising you. “You take me quite well, Honey."
You can only respond with a moan as his thrusts remain deep and harsh. He guided your unresisting legs to wrap around his waist as he slowed his thrusts, enjoying how your hips trembled persistently from your orgasm a few moments ago. Regardless of how much he had abused your weeping hole, it still twitched around his length, as if urging him to corrupt you further.
"Damn." He whispered hoarsely as he tilted his head back ever so slightly, his fingers wandering to the erect bud between your bodies.
"Ahn!" You couldn't help but feel your body jump at the sudden upsurge of pleasure. “W-wai-!”
Kaeya continued to thrust in without waiting for you to catch your breath as you arched off the bed, the cool touch of his fingers against your clit was enough to send you over the edge. He moans loudly, giving a few stuttering thrusts as he chases his own high. His other hand finds itself travelling to the curve of your back, the sensuous touch making you shudder and clench around him helplessly. His lovemaking was passionate and taunting, giving you a delicious feeling of both pain and pleasure.
"Ah! T-too much!” The bed squeaked obscenely as the man on top of you rocked his hips, continuing with a languid pace. "N-no more, Kaeya-!"
"Now, now, Princess." Your lover threaded his fingers through your silky, straggly hair before leaning down to place a kiss on your wet eyelids.
A gasp escapes you as he gave a sharp thrust of his hip, hitting that particular spot making you see black spots the third time in the past hour. The Cavalry Captain of the Knights of Favonius merely flashes you a dangerous grin, his tanned body shimmering with sweat as he pushes his hips between the junction of your legs to keep his seed inside you.
"I'm not satisfied just yet."
