Joseph goebbels 6 children were killed by their parents on the 1st May 1945. Their mother, magda goebbels, or a member of the SS crushed cyanide casuals in their mouths. The children were unaware of what was about to happen to them. However, the oldest child Helga could sense that her parents were lying to her she also asked what would happen to them. Helga, whom Misch called the brightest of the children, was "crying softly" just before bedtime on that final night and wore a glum expression. Misch felt Helga had little fondness for her mother. She was fighting for her life screaming and begging not to die she had a broken jaw and bruises on her face. days later, on the 3rd of May 1945, the day after the children died Soviet troops discovered the burnt remains of Joseph and Magda goebbels then they found the children dressed in night clothes and the girls had ribbons in their hair. The children were later buried in February of 1946. However, their remains were dug up burnt and scattered into the river biederitz. In 2005, a memorial was created for the 6 angels . 💐🤍🪽

They did not have to die they were offers to bring the children to safety however their parents turned all of them down. They did not want there children to live in a world without the nazis. 💐🤍🪽

To identify the bodies on site, the prisoners of war - the personal representative of Grand Admiral Dönitz in the Führer's headquarters, Vice Admiral Voß, Hans-Erich, born 1897, the garage master of the Reich Chancellery, Schneider, Karl Friedrich Wilhelm and the cook of the Reich Chancellery, Lange, Wilhelm – who knew Goebbels, his wife and children personally well. Vice Admiral Voß, Lange and Schneider clearly identified the corpses - during interrogation and when the corpses were presented - as Goebbels, his wife and children... On May 1st. J. saw Voss Goebbels for the last time at 8:30 p.m. in the air raid shelter where Hitler's headquarters was housed. Goebbels explained in a conversation with Voß that family would follow Hitler's example, they would end their lives by suicide.

When viewing the children's bodies, Voß identified all of them as Goebbels' children, as he had seen them several times; One of the girls, Goebbels' daughter Heide, who was four years old, had been to Voß's apartment several times with her parents.

The back is written by Magda herself, with best wishes for Christmas and the upcoming year in her name and in the name of "Helga, Hilde, Hellmut, Holde, Hedda and little Heide".

It strikes me how Magda writes Helmut's name. In fact, every time I have read his name written by her, she spells it "Hellmut".

The fact that the image depicts the 5 eldest children and "little Heide" is mentioned on the back, makes me think the photograph was probably taken during 1940, before Heide's birth, and it was used as a New Year 1940-1941 card.
