Episode 11 Spoilers ahead, naturally

I'm actually on my second watch since we found out our water heater is leaking so that was a whole thing so not quite first impressions but that's literally me screencapping every scene and screaming so probably better this way

Okay important things about me to consider for my lens as I go through this

I think Isami is so so so cute. I'll probably make a cute Isami screencaps post as a separate thing. His gap moe is so cute. I love his stern face. I think Smith is great too but I love the focus reshifting to Isami. Anyway. He's so cute

In terms of Smith as Bravern I guess I view it as the reverse too? I don't really know how to explain it but I guess in Japanese there's tags for Smith + Isami (Sumiisa) and Bravern + Isami (Braisa?) and in my head it's all Sumiisa. Like he may look like a giant robot but he's still Smith, if that makes sense.

Second watch bonuses: realizing why she reacts this way at his mention ;-;

Right away, I guess I got my beach episode! I love that Isami and Lulu have Bravern brand summer clothes. I hope they come out as merch. It comes up rarely eg. the boxing shoes from ep 5 have the (Burn?) Bravern specific emblem on them and I just think it's so cute. Like yeah Bravern probably printed them just for these instances and I wish we got enough show to see it in action.

I actually got so emotional at the end of episode 9 when the OP starts playing without the lyrics and this showing up with the ED music is phenomenal. Extra delicious that it starts with part of the full version of the ED that's not in the normal ending.

I also love this because the other two emotional moments where it's like, starting something but not completing it are the after boxing scene and when Isami is crying into Lewis' shirt (okay this can easily be assumed to fill out as "I wanted the two of us to save the world together" but what else did you want to do with hiiiiim). The shipper mind wants to fill it in with some love confession and then!!!

After the like, back and forth name stuff (which parallels the Lulu + Superbia fusion) I was like, pre-emptively bracing for some kind of goofy baiting/played for laughs thing but no he goes for it!!

I actually have a collection of any instance of Isami with any amount of coloring on his cheeks and I've been lamenting that the only full blush moments are when he gets the asian flush drinking but aaaaah so cute. Also he looks so young here! He's 24 he should be falling in love!

Also I'm like, actually really impressed about this scene technically because It's just a really good looking turnaround animation. With Bravern he's 3D so whatever but isami looks good from every angle!

The artist who adds the extra effects like bloom and color tweaks on scenes occasionally tweets out their before and afters and I really hope we get this scene where they point out they added plush, kissable lips onto Bravern.

I reblogged a post about it but I do really love that Isami isn't like, disgusted or pushing him away or anything. Not even grateful Lulu interrupted it. Maybe he's actually disappointed she interrupted.

I know it sets ups the symbolic washing away of it but in case there was any ambiguity to the nature of this love:

There's some discussion across japanese twitter about how you're not supposed to do some line in the middle but based on some cursory stuff I'm not sure how common that thought process is. Also Bravern isn't that much of a pro in Japanese culture (even a lot of JP twitter was confused at his proud "This is OMIAI!").

If you aren't involved in Twitter, a comment people like to point out is that they specifically hired a Food Coordinator for this episode lol. I took a bunch of caps of it but between this and Isami's "we need to eat to be strong enough to save everyone" talk I need to do my Dunmeshi + Bravern food as strength and love post.

Anyway I'm obsessed with the fact that Bravern doesn't need to eat but actually has a mouth which reminds me of this tweet my sister brought to me

Naturally, his mouth is for kissing, Among other things.

Okay honestly the food bit is so weird I was kind of worried the entire first half of the episode turns out to be a dream sequence.

I need to set this as my desktop background or something. I think it's really cute that they added/implied that Isami and Bravern are now a cutesy couple rather than Isami being all weird about the love confession.

THIS! Is the point in the post I realize that watching while typing these up leads to me just doing a play by play which isn't really much of anything. I promise the rest of the post isn't just as long even though we're only halfway through the episode.

Lulu + Superbia symbol! It's cute and has a really nice mix of being similar but opposite in it's own way.

I am obsessed with Segnitas being too lazy to fight and honestly I think he's so cute. The interrupting the fusion is kinda expected for a a show with every bit being in universe but it's still a good gag. I'm glad he is around to make commentary until his true death.

I kind of expected the Bravern + Superbia fight to be an episode 2 thing but I guess we won't have the time for that given the end of this episode. Triple shoutout to my Wednesday post by having the "You can get fulfillment from living!", seeing a callback to Lulu's kick and basically having an awesome fight.

Okay ending time. I have a lot of thoughts but one of the ones as I was watching was just.. He can't eat but he can bleed (and cry)? Actually considering that he explodes it's probably oil or something. Like obvs he isn't going to explode into purple triangles like everyone else but oofda. I am all sorts of sad about this but one thing that gets me is that Bravern doesn't even die fighting! It was a stealth attack!

There's some theories that Isami has a change of heart too fast and this might be another time loop, which I think would be on brand but man his reaction to Bravern dying is too much there's at least no way it's because of a Bravern dying bad end. Actually, I wonder if the damage to Bravern's core is worse than we can tell? Lulu bad end looks way worse though. Or maybe hypothetical Isami time travel route is -> they don't fight Superbia -> defeat one more death drive -> Superbia realizes he doesn't get his warrior death -> he takes on the last Deathdrive 1v1, dies -> remaining DD dies somehow but Superbia is still gone -> Isami goes back to save him for Lulu (they can't risk double time looping her?) -> doesn't ever experience Bravern dying so this is new and terrible.

In this case, Ira is acting unpredictably specifically because they do the no-kill route with Superbia. He's evidently super disgusted and I wonder if it's because its the peaceful resolution between the two? Otherwise I'm curious why else. Actually in general I'm curious why everyone is so personal with Bravern but I think we've all been asking that.

I think some people mentioned it on Twitter but Lulu very casually mentions her time travel lived experiences so it would be weird if they didn't know Bravern himself enabled it. Like I mentioned in my other post. He literally can't take on two giant mechs without Bravern and he knows for sure Superbia can't take on someone.

It's interesting that Bravern has different final words in this timeline than Lulu bad end but he also probably never had that stargazing scene in that route. Actually, you know what, I think Lulu bad end he does know it's Lulu because I don't think Isami was there for the specific curry scene we saw. He's still crying, naked in Bravern during that. Unless he just talks about Japanese curry all the time where we don't see.

Smith's last words are specifically "Brave Bang" (yuuki bakuhatsu) vs Bravern's "Brave Burn" and I'm basically Pepe Silvia-ing it up trying to figure out what it means. It's not really a direct confession about being Smith (because he's still a coward in that regard) but maybe it's a secret move/activation considering the moves are in English?

I think any kind of extra finale speculation requires its own post but that's my thoughts!

Me watching the previouslies: Will someone please just give Chopper a hug?

I feel like maybe my priorities while watching this drama are a tiny bit skewed.

This whole thing between Palm and Nueng feels very mistressy. "I'll come see you when I can but first I gotta ditch the spouse the job and probably the dudes my uncle is using to tail me."

Except oh wait, that's already happened because Nueng has the worst bodyguards ever.

Well at least they aren't going with the fiction that Palm can somehow take on four of Kit's thugs and win.

I wonder if Kit will do the dumb thing and have Palm brought to him. What he should do is have his thugs take Palm somewhere far away from where he usually does business like an abandoned warehouse, but I don't expect he will. Prediction: he brings Palm to him and Chopper somehow overhears, although he might be at school I guess. What I don't want is for Nueng to blame Chopper but I bet he will because he's there and easier to hurt. Sigh.

Okay I have to admit I enjoy Kit. He's clearly having fun and I can respect that. Although if he hits Chopper again…

I just worry about him, okay? I don't really think that he's going to break bad but I do worry that he's just going to break.

I am also worried about Palm. In a way I get Kit's ultimatum here because he is the one person that Nueng at least will let close to him without thinking about it. But like, Nueng also has really really shitty bodyguards. It's not like other people couldn't do it. Although I have to admit that the betrayal of it is delicious, and I respect Kit's sense of drama. I don’t really think that Palm's gonna do anything, though, so I guess the tension there is kind of lost on me even if I understand the impossible choice Palm has to make. Although thinking about it is kind of a fun mental exercise. What if he did kill Tanya? That would surely be a curve ball.

Is Nueng drinking wine? What about his alcohol allergy?

It's kind of hilarious how Nueng knows that Palm would never touch him. And I do like that his first thought Is for his mom and not whining about how Palm is betraying him (although tbh asking if he killed her is confusing to me. Wouldn't the hospital inform him if his mother died? Yes, they would). I do like that even though he gets dramatic af about Palm killing him he knows instinctively that his life was never the one in danger.

Finally! I kept waiting for Nueng to realize that he has money here, he can use it. Kit is much more willing to be shady though. That is a worry.

Pffft Kit surely doesn't know Chanon if he thinks that the dude would be mad at Palm for putting Nueng over him.

But hey, we finally get a Chanon wake up in the literal eleventh hour. And holy shit, did he just ask Nueng to take care of Palm? I feel like it's opposite world.

PALM. Do not tempt the drama gods they will come for you.

I have to say I did not expect Chopper to pull a gun on his dad. But I also knew he could never pull the trigger. If he could, he would be less the person he is and more the son Kit wants. I do think that it might come down to Chopper having to do the thing in the end, but I kind of hope not. Kit is the worst dad in a sea of awful parents, but Chopper doesn't deserve that. That's still his dad, and if this drama has done one thing consistently right, it's showing us that kids will often love their parents in spite of the awful things they do.

They have all these pretty dreams. But it's episode eleven and we all know what that means (except honestly this ep eleven wasn’t that bad in terms of angst. I feel like my life has stopped making sense. Was there ever a formula or did I just convince myself there was?)

Nueng once again coming in with the courage of his convictions. You know, I have to say he's not my favorite but I do like him quite a bit. I actually love that he's selfish and petty and sometimes downright cruel. I like that it never occurred to him to examine his own privilege and that he so often turned to being thee little lord of the manor when Palm displeased him, relying on his status and his position of power over Palm without seeming to realize what he was doing. I like that he's allowed to be these things. I also very much like that he's brave, too, and that when he decides something he goes all in, even if he's wrong. Part of that is how he was raised, I think - people who have that much wealth probably don't fear much to begin with - but it's also just him. Look at Chopper, for instance - he was raised in about as much privilege as Nueng and by a father who probably encouraged him to put on airs, but he's softer in a lot of ways. That softness is inherent to him the same way that the core of steel is to Nueng.

WHERE ARE THE BODYGUARDS WHY ARE THESE 18 YEAR OLD KIDS WITH LITERAL MORTAL ENEMIES JUST ALLOWED TO BOP AROUND UNSUPERVISED. How is Kit always, always getting the drop on them???

I knew this was gonna happen and yet I'm still annoyed by it. All that money and yet you can't afford decent protection, sigh.

At least this time Kit went with my warehouse suggestion. He's learning, maybe.

Kit is still enjoying himself immensely and I kind of love that for him.

That's the second kid in your life to tell you you're an asshole, Kit. Maybe examine some of your life choices.

So next week we get Palm blaming Chopper (guess it's his turn), being lured into a trap, and then someone is getting shot. Again.

That said let's get into

Love is Science?

Summary :

Yan Fei is a the CEO of the Love is Science marriage agency, that matches people based on scientific data. Hsuan Yu, 8 years younger than her, is a promising young hairstylist who has been in love with her thoughout their entire childhood when she has only ever seen him like a little brother.

Unexpectedly they meet again. Between the way they've each built their lives and how Yong Yan Fei's ex husband still looms over Yan Fei's life, how will their relationship develop this time around ?

Now,

just reading that summary I know what you're thinking.

Indeed, if you have some experience with dramas, you might recognize some TYPICAL TYPICAL tropes – let's get them out of the way :

love triangle (though we all know who she is going to end up with don't we)

childhood friends

'noona romance'

And they are every bit as present and as trope-ey as you would expect.

However, as they say, the devil is in the details.

And particularly, in the side characters. Let me give you a quick rundown of the lot of them :

As such, we follow the stories of multiple relationships that develop parallel to one another.

The relationships

• Yan Fei/ Hsuan Yu : Not much needs to be added I think. Their storyline might be the most predictable but they are pretty sweet and heartwarming. pining for like 12 years though poor Hsuan Yu. Anyway you can enjoy it or find it boring or but you can't hate it.

• Mark/Ouwen : Noooow we're getting to it. Their dynamic is so... Refreshing and unique. Confident gay with a soft heart and dumb disaster bisexual I mean *chef kiss*👌delicious

After the disasters of their first meetings, it's a cat and dog relationship where Ouwen is the hsssssss don't touch me– cat and Mark is the golden retriever trailing after him not really realizing the rampage he's creating in Ouwen's heart. while Ouwen is like "Remind me why the FUCK I caught feelings again ?".

IDK it just has everything 'Enemies' to friends to lovers, (not actually) unrequited love, pining, sweet moments, jealousy, feelings realization, snarky banter... What more could one want.

• Cho Nai Hui / You Fu : they are. So. So sweet. Both are older and have experience, and as such they are not so naive or stupid as the youngsters. Them sharing their life experiences and going on dates like typically teenagers (in movies or TV shows anyway) would is refreshing to see and really really heartwarming.

• Liu Sheng Ying/ ??? Her ex ? : The show hinted at a wlw storyline and this arc seems to have JUST begun. Basically Sheng Ying's ex comes to Love is Science as a client and requests Sheng Ying as an advisor, while Sheng Ying still seems heartbroken over her. I can't WAIT to see how it develops.

The friendships :

Something I greatly appreciate is that both the romantic relationships AND the friendships have a great importance in the drama.

• Joanna and Yan Fei : Jo, queen Jo 👑. She's just here to gossip, get all the gossip and be the voice of reason and we love her for it. You can see how comfortable they are around each other and how they were there for each other during tough times and still are. Kudos to the actresses because I believed the characters were besties in a heartbeat.

• Hsuan Yu and Mark : they are honestly... Such polar opposites you kinda wonder how they became friends but they are and it works perfectly.

Hsuan Yu still hasn't gotten he maybe shouldn't take Mark's advice, and Mark still hasn't gotten that he, definitely should take Hsuan Yu's. It also enables to develop a more playful and mischievous side to Hsuan Yu, giving him more depth?

• Ouwen and Sheng Ying: rivalry to reluctant solidarity to friends-but-i-will-deny-it-if-asked to just friends. IT'S GREAT

I also ejoy the fact that these multiple storylines are allowed to coexist. The romantic ones, the friendships, older, younger, m/f m/m and f/f like take your pick !! And tbh a WLW storyline ?????? These are so scarce I will take anything.

The recurring themes :

The show more or less subtly touches on some topics/issues, to which the dating aspect contributes to.

A non exhaustive list would be

Divorce, and how divorced women can be viewed as failures for some reason

How successful men over 30 are sought after but successful women after 30 are somehow deemed undatable

Preconceived notions and homophobia

And beyond the topics, there's just things like... Joanna not being interested in long term relationships nor wanting to get married, reporting sexual harassment, older people going on dates.... I'm not saying it's a groundbreaking activist drama –which is not really what I was looking for– I just appreciate the fact that it is a pretty mainstream drama and that these things are there.

Mad respect if you've made it up to here ! but we're not quite done yet.

The cast and crew :

The other element that made this drama stand out for me besides the side characters is the cast.

It might be weird that such a meta thing impacts the appreciation of the show but it did, for me at least.

📣📣TMI WARNING 📣📣

For me what happened is I stumbled onto Mark and Ouwen cuts on YouTube, then somehow onto the behind the scenes. They weren't subbed at the time so I could barely understand a word of what they were saying, thus I'm not sure what but something about how the rest of the actors, the director and the crew were interacting just told me it was a show worth watching or at least checking out.

The cast honestly seems to have a blast and to have, how to say it, come together really well. It seems like most of them have become genuinely friends, or despite differences in personality have truly enjoyed working with one another and with the rest of the crew, and it shows.

Where it's lacking

In my opinion the show does have some aspects where it underperforms.

As previously mentioned, the main plot is kinda tropey, furthermore, in a drama typical fashion when something is about to get resolved, immediately something else happens. Nothing unexpected from a drama though.

The pacing : Some moments of the main plot especially dragged on, so I admit I skipped through some parts.

Because I feel so strongly about all the characters though, I don't really mind the previously mentioned points. I just think it's a shame because I feel like if it had been crafted a little bit better it could have made the show go from an 8/10 good drama to an 11/10 friggin amazing drama easy.

Lastly, there is a pretty unequal time distribution so Yan Fei and Hsuan Yu do tend to occupy the most part of an episode. However some episodes are more centered on some pairings (like ep 11 that will probably have an important Mark/Ouwen part).

Overall

it's a drama that warms my heart, as simple as that. It's not that deep, it's pretty funny, the acting ranges from good to excellent and I have taken a liking to a lot of the characters, which is what I think fuels my interest for the drama.

And I feel like it managed to attract a wide range of audiences because the romances and relationships are so diverse. Whether you watch the show for its entirety or for one aspect/storyline/character is entirely up to you and I feel like the creators of the drama are aware of it as well : and you can easily find subbed compilations about each specific pairing on Settv's official YouTube channel.

Take that aspect that you like–if you find one of course–and enjoy it, that is all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is not me being a flake, this is not me being pregnant (you dweebs it was a EUPHEMISM I’M NOT PREGNANT HAHA), this is me and the whole team who planned this tour being no match for a really complex public health situation. I am absolutely devastated to let you down. I feel physically ill typing this. I wanted so badly to be the light at the end of this lockdown hell tunnel for you guys. I think about gorgeous angels like Courtney in NZ, or Josiah and Maddie in Australia, people who have been there supporting me since the beginning, people who have tickets and accommodation plans already, and my stomach just drops. Yugioh S2 Ep 23-24: Escape From Box Fort

Currently trying to stop checking twitter more than once a day, and I’m getting legit twitter-shakes so I’ve decided to stave it off by watching nonsense television. So, last update I said that this was a 3 episode game arc yada yada, but that was apparently me just assuming that Yugioh had a formula. Because, to my shock, this one game was 4 episodes long.

It was 4 episodes mostly of Pharaoh rolling his eyes to the sky every time Kaiba said anything.

According to my bro who actually cares about the rules of this game, they broke basically a whole lot of established game rules in this particular match but like, I was all over that fast forward button so if I didn’t catch it, no harm, no foul. I was more interested in Tea and Mokuba’s very bizarre meet up at the box warehouse.

And while they formulated their half-brained plan (which is still better than Yugi who is always two halves of a brain) Marik and his snuggie villains tied Joey up in some dark room full of just one million cupboards and no light bulbs. Even Joey was not entirely sure of the purpose of any of that effort.

He also threatened to beat them all up so I assume he was just going to start bouncing around and headbutting everyone? His hair isn’t sharp enough for that - that’s a Yugi move, who probably greases those weird bangs with gel and then wipes all 4 of them it through a knife sharpener every morning.

There goes Marik, tying people up when he was just going to possess them anyway. Congrats Marik, now you have to untie the guy you only tied up like 3 minutes ago.

It really does feel like this villain just has zero idea what he is doing, and I’m guessing that probably happens a lot when your sister can see the future all the time. Why make plans or decisions when you have Ishizu to over explain everything to you? Honestly he wouldn’t even have had to tell her his fast food orders, she’d just show up with tacos when he starts feeling munchy. The life. Luckily for him, everyone else on this show is just as incompetent, and his big rival is a dead Pharaoh with amnesia who is currently squatting in the body of an angsty teen who plays the slowest card game I have ever seen played.

Anyway, speaking of ridiculously wasteful plans, will Tea decide to make a box, fort, again, although it really, really didn’t work the first time?

So like, if Tea does it, she’s too heavy, but if Mokuba joins in--a kid who probably only weighs twenty pounds less than Tea, then...it works? I mean maybe this time they used tape?

I mean Mokuba is a genius child, so maybe he’s just better at building stuff. Maybe that’s what he learned from whatever vague genius orphan program these two underwent that still somehow landed Seto in public school. Mokuba learned to put the heavy boxes on the bottom.

And the moment Mokuba’s gifted feet left this box tower, Tea fell right back on her butt.

It took Yugi and Seto so long to play a card game that Tea and Mokuba had enough time to formulate a plan, follow it out, and actually succeed.

This is Mokuba.

They took so long Mokuba escaped. The kid who has been some sort of tied up/in a cage for over half of this show so far.

Anyway, Tristan narrowly avoids missing his train, which would have saved them both from what I’m guessing will be a hell of a lot of trauma.

Such an awkward train ride.

This show just can’t get anyone together, huh? Not complaining, mind you. Just...noticing. First it was Yugi/Pharaoh who really didn’t even blink once when Tea friendzoned them. I mean I think he just sweat a single forehead droplet or something. Now we have Tristan and Serenity, who haven’t even been on a real date--one of which is still in bandages from a very severe operation--and it’s like “we gotta break that one up waaaaaay before it starts.”

Who knows, maybe this anime was like “we can’t risk a Sailor Moon on this, we are already too much in hot water. Can’t be pulling out relationship stunts if we also gotta tie Tea up in a weird bondage chair and somehow still stay on the air during daytime kid’s TV.”

Which really happened, by the way.

Anyways, that’s one episode. Rip Joey. Other than that, not much to say about that one, so, lets jump into the next one.

On the other side of town things are still effed up but slightly less effed up as we are about to yes, absolutely, still blow a hole through the ceiling of this well populated building whether the team wins or loses.

So, they decide to work together. Well not really. They decide to trust that the other one won’t screw it on his turn. Considering these two are both card masters, this really was the lowest bar ever as far as trust goes. Can Yugi trust that Seto will play cards well? Y...yes. That’s literally all this kid does other than skip school and run a multicorp that only exists to invest in even more cards.

And he played them so well that this happened

I mean there are a lot of kid’s shows where villains fall to their deaths, but something about how realistic all these characters are drawn and how it’s put in a realistic-enough location to make it feel a lot darker than lets say Gaston falling off of Beauty and the Beast’s tower, you know what I mean?

But no matter, because Marik got these evil snuggies custom made and it is freakin weird.

I mean sure, whatever it takes to keep your 15 yo from doing a murder, Yugioh, I’ll take it, I guess. Even though like...I keep getting flashbacks to Mannequin. I never really wanted to remember Mannequin, so thanks for that.

Anyway, this began a really bizarre fight where Yugi wanted to interrogate the last guy standing--as if this guy knows anything--and Kaiba just wanted to straight up kill him for abducting his little brother. Both ideas were bad, so it’s fine that Marik nipped this in the bud.

Again, standing here next to Magic Muto, Kaiba is just refusing to admit that any of this is even slightly magical. Maybe he was such a bad wizard in his past life that he was cursed to not even believe in the concept of magic in this reincarnation. Not like it really matters, since Kaiba’s tech is basically magic.

Also get a load of this effect.

Hell yeahhhh it’s getting real 2001 now! Mm, probably took them like 4 computers to render back then. Glorious.

So, they both decide to drop this guy and he passes out on the roof of this building. No need to move him or anything. No need to disable the three other bombs. Just like...just loot his body and leave. I love this kid show’s weird ass morality.

So after ALL of that, Mokuba arrives. Good thing Kaiba didn’t actually murder anyone in revenge for his little brother (though he did try) or that would have been...awkward. Though, probably not the first time.

Since Tea saved his brother, Seto decides to help Yugi out by saving the lives of Yugi’s friends (of which, two are in the finals of Seto’s tournament, so he does actually need them.) He makes a note that he’s only doing this so he won’t owe Tea anything, and that Yugi did absolutely nothing at all. Which was kind of true, this entire match was a bad idea that gave them nothing but broken glass.

That’s right, it’s anime food time. Yes yes yes, my favorite time.

Just kidding, it’s all in boxes.

Thanks 4 kids, for not allowing us to think that people in other countries might not eat the same food we do. I guess they figured that the triangle shaped rice ball that Serenity had in the next scene looked enough like a taco to trick us.

Real talk, if my Taco Bell came in a fancy real wood box all cutely wrapped like that, it would be NUTS. Can you even imagine if Taco Bell decided to make Burrito Supremes into cute bento boxes? Hell. I would eat a Burrito Supreme again for the first time in 3 years. I would even eat it if they somehow put a burrito in that nasty Nacho Cheese Dorito flavored shell (though tbh that Cool Ranch shell was absolutely delicious and 10/10. Nacho cheese Dorito shell: bad)

Sorry I’ve been thinking a lot about Taco Bell ever since I realized you could go online and customize your burrito and I’ve been going down the rabbit hole of other people’s mad quesalupas and freaky deep-dish crunchwraps (one guy said he just gets a plain 5layer burrito and shoves a bunch of Doritos in there with extra nacho cheese sauce and he asked “Is this weird?” and the top comment was “no, you are God among men”)

Anyway, I just want you to imagine that spectacularly awful custom 5 layer burrito smothered in extra queso sauce and lovingly wrapped in a box with adorable wrapping paper and being given just two chopsticks to eat it with. And you do. On a train for everyone else to smell.

And then a few weeks ago I asked rhetorically, does Yugi and Seto get to go on a bachelor-style helicopter date and the answer is--YES.

Bless this storyboarder. Get this cross-stitched so I can hang it over my fireplace. Maybe it’s just me who thinks this shot is maybe the best joke in Yugioh, but I mean. Look at it. It just keeps giving. Yugioh characters are just so bizarre when they’re shoved into very small, very normal looking spaces.

And FYI I totally checked twitter four times while writing this so like...so much for that life goal. Boy, I have a twitter problem.

Does anyone else in Marik’s troupe get real hot, so they take off their hoodie and we find out that nearly everyone else is also wearing the same exact pastel pink crop top sweater as Marik? Do Marik’s snuggie parachutes accidentally go off at embarrassing times? Does Seto pull out a neck pillow and just pass out for a few episodes while stealing Yugi’s arm rest? Does Mokuba offer to watch a movie on the copter and all they have is just Serendipity and Sleepless in Seattle?

  A: Oh! So passionate!

  N: even I just said it?

  K: well then, something besides chocolate!

  N: Besides chocolate? Besides chocolate ah, ummm, ah, well, at a place called Demmel, theres a famous  Za hatol (TL:??? I have no idea what the name is) at Demmel.

  K: Za Hatol?

  N: ahhh its like the king of chocolate cakes. That place sells raw cookies that are really, really good.

  K: Can you tell us the name again?

   N: Zahatol is supposedly so amazing it’s called the king of all chocolate cakes and the coating and the inside is all chocolate. To put it simply it’s a chocolate cake.

  K: sounds good. I wonder if Nobuhiko-san will buy us some?

  *Laughing*

  A: this junior doesn’t hold back.

(N: really? Damn it)

  N: My heart is racing.

  A: W-what’s raw cookie ? I’ve heard of raw caramel and raw chocolate but…

  N: um, it’s in the shape of a cookie but the moment you, but it’s when it starts melting.

  A: Huh? That sounds amazing.

  N: it’s really good.

  K: ah, I wonder if he’ll buy us some~

  N: Ah, but it sells out so quickly…

  A:  Well then it might be hard at the next Haikyuu event but at the next, next event…maybe….

  N: If I get an appearance that is.

  K: um is there anything you focus on when you voice act? You said “lowering your centre of gravity” is that in front of the mic as well?

  N: huh? If I did that in front of the mic wouldn’t be in front of it.

(K: you wouldn’t)

  K: I was just wondering what you meant by it.

  N: Ah… ummmmnn… I’ve been told a lot of times by the director they want a sense of reliability. So I got told to breathe from my stomach a lot. Because when you yell you pay attention to the stomach, which I don’t really do much.  I prefer to breathe from my chest, and I was asked to breath from my stomach so I do it while imagining that I’ve lowered my centre of gravity all this time I guess.

  K: ahh *trips over words*

 K: so what’s the difference between… breathing from your chest and your stomach?

   N: What is the difference? I guess if you breath from your stomach, the breath comes out slowly from your stomach so you can give it your all.

(K: Hmmm I see.)

  A: But Noya is quite intense.

  *Agreement*

  N: Like… all his lines are really cool.

(A: really cool!)

  N: right

(K: yes.)

  N: That’s unfair. On top of being able to read the atmosphere , whenever everyone’s up in arms he does it to perk everyone up, and even when he’s in a pinch. I think it’s really manly.

(A: very manly.)

  K: even his face, during the training camp, there was that part with his hair down right.

  N: ah, that was cool.

  K: I thought that was super cool!! I was like, what I want to be like that! I guess in the end it’s that hairstyle.

(A: I guess so)

(N: Right)

  A: the fact that it’s all flat but it’s all poofy

(K: I think it looks coolest flat )

  (N: Really fires you up)

(A: Right)

  N: Other thing that I’ve noticed is that it gets really fun. So while I’m voice acting and things get interesting I want to put a lot of extra things into it but I get ‘the eye’ from the director.

(K: Back down)

(N: back down)

  N: I’ve been told don’t do that, don’t do that.                

  K: thank you. So now about hanging out together. Where should we go?

  N: I want to play volleyball, volleyball.

(A/K: *Agreeing*)

  K: but you mentioned being in the badminton club, so it would be nice to play badminton.

  N: OH!

(A: Badminton)

  N: but Kaito-kun ... we have haven’t we?

  K: One more time.

  N: oh I see, I see.

(A: a second time)

  K: That time, ah, you versed me?

  N: Ah, together?

(K: maybe together )

  K: With everyone at Pro-fit, we played doubles on one side.

(N: right, yes, yes ,yes)

  K: yes, so in the end I never versed you.

  K: we need to see who’s stronger.

  A: before in the dressing room... what was it, that thing that goes bam! Bam!

  K: Teoshizumo? (TL: so I THINK it’s this game where you push/slap each other’s hands? )

  A: Ah, we were playing teoshizumo... we got super into it… um does everyone know what teoshizumo is? Ah you all know, well I didn’t.

(N: yeah … I guess not(?))

  A: and you go BAM, and when you watch it doesn’t look that difficult. Kaito-kun is so strong!

(K: *Kaito laughing* no, no not at all.)

  A: I lost in about 5-6 seconds and…

(K: I’m a power player)

  A: ah right.

   *Screaming and grunting from Kaito and Ayu.*

   N: what passionate voices.

   A: after that I was told that Nobuhiko-san was even stronger, I was thinking “no way!”, but Nobuhiko-san seems like he’d just go snap… but Kaito-kun lost.

(N: This was the first round)

   A: the way Nobuhiko-san plays… how do I put this…he manages to kind of side step Kaito-kuns powerful attacks.

   K: Yeah it’s very evasive (TL: not entirely sure, seems like nobu/ayu weren’t sure eitherHAH)

   (N: Directional power?)

(A:attack power?)

   K: A very flowing movement

(A: a very technical feeling)

(K: yes)

   N: I’m pushing but I’m not.

(A/K: *agreeing*)

  K: I couldn’t push at all…. Why are we talking about teoshizumo on haikyuu radio

  N: Right! Right?

(K: what is this?)

  A: That match just really left an impression on me.

(K: What kind of radio is this?)

  N: Okay, okay so with everyone in the haikyuu group could have some sort of a sports day.

(A: Right!)

(K: Yeah! I want to!)

  N: I want to! Do you guys want to watch?

  K: Alright…. STAFFF!!

  *Laughing*

  K: Alright, so let me introduce Noshinoya Yuu’s profile. Noshinona- nishi- nishi- sorry Nishinoya-san could you do this for me?

  N: ROLLING THUNDER!!!

  K: Okay, I’ll do this. Nishinoya yuu, a second year at Karasuna high school, position- Libero, height 159.3cm, woah not even 160, weighs 51.1kg, birthday October 10th. Ah, 3 days before mine!

(N: oh you see)

  K: The shortest in the team, on the court he has everyone’s trust, indeed the Karasuno’s guardian. When Hinata and Kageyama joined Karasuno , along with Azumane he was away from the club etc etc. That’s what sort of character he is.

  K: yes so we have a lot of mail. Today we did a sort of survey? We have a section called “Karasuno Bulletin board” to respond to everyone’s answers.

The Accidental Holiday

How beautiful the love, covered in longing, recklessness, desperation, and complexity of feels. Longing for her is getting madness. I rashly booked a ticket to Makassar. Met her. The woman who promised not to come to my place because of her job, but she chose to vacation. Deeply disappointed with her decision, it is undeniable that I was indeed not her priority, not like she always repeated many times. “You always become my priority”.

The day before she arrived in Makassar, I bought a ticket to Makassar hesitant. I chose flight that arrived earlier than her. At first I wanted to surprise her as she came out of the arrival gate. But the doubt came. How if she refuse me? How if she hate me? If it isn’t happen, how if I mess up of her vacation plans? Because of my doubts and I don’t want to take a risk, I finally contacted her. Early in the morning while she was transiting in Banjarbaru I contacted her. Another failed surprise. Among anger, disappointment, and happy she accepted me to visit and accompany her in Makassar. She assured me that her plans wasn’t disturbed.

I arrived at Makassar earlier than her. I waited her in fast food restaurant that close to arrival gate. I saw her walking toward me from a distance. She wasn’t look tired at all, there was only a happy smile with glasses hanging over her nose and red lips. How beauty is she, if she knows. We were picked up by her friend. Actually she has been preparing her vacation plans, guided by her friend, from pick-up place to any destination. But, because I suddenly accompanied her, her plans was a little interrupted. We had dinner in Makassar. Mi Titi, the first cuisine that we tasted. Almost excited with the serving but destroyed by the taste. After that, we were escorted to hotel. We rested. Before sleep, I tell her my disappointment, my irritation, I feel like I was betrayed by the trust I had made. She apologized, and I forgive her.

First day. As we planned, we went to Fort Rotterdam. An old fort which was built during The Kingdom of Gowa Tallo in the 15th century. Inside the complex, I was like entering European cities, the architecture is Dutch-style. Although it’s well-maintained, but the old building complex looks chaotic. It's because many vehicles parked in every corners of the building. Something attracted us a bit was the hundreds of junior high school students who danced in the center of the complex. They practiced as the part of preparing for Gerakan 1000 Menari which would held in the city. Then, we went to Trans Studio Makassar. An indoor theme park. For the first time I had fun in the theme park since I was elementary. Unfortunately, every rides wasn’t challenging, probably because of the indoor location and pretty narrow. We also watched a play that was held there. Again, for the first time of my life I watched a play. In the afternoon, we went to Losari beach. Many street vendors selling local snacks of Makassar. Pisang Epe. The second cuisine we tasted. The night before, we returned to the hotel on foot.

We were starving in the middle of night. We had no food, no cafe or restaurant nearby that is open until night. At 11 pm we made delivery order. After an hour waiting, our food arrived. We ordered coto, Makassar cuisine. Unfortunately, Hotel does not provide cutlery. We enjoyed coto with drinking glass which is provided by hotel. A little fact about food presentation is true. Suggestion of serving is number one to improve appetite. Proven to us, with unsuitable serving we could not enjoy the food. While waiting order, I unintentionally offended her. My words are actually compliments, but I mistakenly expose them, she became angry. She kept angry while we ate, though she fed me until I was full. At bedtime she still mad at me. A misunderstanding that brought her to anger. The next morning, her anger fall off.

The true holiday began on the next day. We planned to go to Samalona island and Kodingarengkeke. We have prepared on the morning. Before leaving, we had breakfast. Coto Nusantara. The real coto that placed in Jalan Nusantara. At 9 am, that small restaurant are crowded, the tables were full, and many queuing up. We were lucky enough, in the crowd we got a table just left by the customer. We ordered the main course. Coto, the spice-rich cuisine, fits perfectly with our tongue which used to spicy food. Then, we went to Khayangan dock, a little dock in front of Fort Rotterdam which provide boat to Samalona and Kodingarengkeke. Guide who is also helmsman was available there. The price is very expensive. However, after a long bargain, we’re finally agreed. The trip to Samalona Island is pretty fast, just 15 minutes, passing ship that will anchor in makassar harbor. Arrived at Samalona, we walked twice around the island, enjoyed sun burn. The water is blue with white sand and view of of Makassar looks very beautiful. Unfortunately, the island seemed grungy because of the many homestays that built there. After rented snorkeling equipment, we continued trip to Kodingarengkeke, the closest snorkeling spot. Kodingarengkeke is about 15 minutes from Samalona Island. The scenery is wonderful. Small island with white beach, clear sea, and coral reefs. She, who from the beginning was eager to snorkel, indulge herself with swimming, watching underwater, enjoying the heat of the sun. Kodingareng is actually a sandbar, but has built view towers that I think is quite destructive to its naturalness. The island’s width is only half the football field. Very small, but its beauty is immeasurable. During the day, we had lunch with soup and grilled konro. Konro karebosi located east of the Karebosi field. Afterwards, we bought a variety of souvenirs in Somba Opu, Makassar souvenir center. In the evening, we went to Andalas Street, enjoying Sop Saudara, the fourth culinary. From morning until night, our meal is meat, meat, and meat. At 8 pm, we came by mall. Actually we wanted to go to Starbucks, but because another misunderstanding, we canceled it. It was triggered because my fault. We were both at disagree, but each of us could withstand anger. We came back to hotel, before go bed, we reconcile and forgive each other.

Sunday, we’ve prepared to go back. We’re been picked up by her friend. We had breakfast in Pallu Basa Restaurant at Jalan Serigala. The main course is Pallu Basa. I think Pallu Basa and Coto is closely related. They have same ingredients, the different is Pallu Basa eat with rice while Coto eat with ketupat. Pallu Basa is served with or without Burasa, a raw yolk. It's delicious but its yolk lowers my appetite. The last cuisine, we had dessert in Rumah Makan Muda-Mudi, ordered Pisang Ijo, the most famous street foods. Pisang Ijo, the thing that dispute us the night before. Before heading to the airport, we visited Bantimurung National Park. Once there, we were very surprised, the area was crowded by thousands of visitors. Very crowded, so we could not enjoy every spot. Although there are waterfalls, caves, and butterfly parks. With expensive tickets and very crowded, it feels very unsatisfactory. We spent an hour, then we headed to the airport.

At the airport, we checked in at different counter, because we had different destination and airline. My flight was 10 minutes earlier than her. Last minutes before flight, while we were spending time together, talking, we realized that something lost. My hat and a box of her souvenirs. I remember I lost my hat at the security checkpoint, but we forgot where we lost the box. We searching ever spot that we stop by. Then we remembered, we lost it at ATM, I just put that box on the machine and forgot to take it back. On ATM the box is gone, we tried to ask to information center. Thank Godness they saved it. We so thankful to them, and for the person that gave the box to security. The person we didn’t know who and where s/he is. We’re praying a good for him/her. About my hat, I didn’t really care. It just because I think it didn’t fit for my head. So, let it lost.

The farewell was so sore. I thought I wouldn’t able to see her again, or if I would see her it will be a long waiting. I wanted to stop the time, enjoy the last moment with her. But we aren’t living in the fiction world, I had to let her go. But thank God, I will always see her, like her promised.
