It’s such a small moment and maybe I just have brain rot or something but in the beginning when Splinter is talking abt why he hates humans it’s Mikey specifically that chimes in with that little “you don’t know that.” And just UGH

Even just by his tone you can tell that he knows his words aren’t going to change anything because they’ve had this conversation too many times. But also Mikey was the one Splinter almost lost that day, like if Splinter was any slower Mikey would’ve been gone.

And you just know in the minds of children Mikey equated their isolation from humans as being his fault because he almost got ran over as a baby.

Like I don’t wanna say it because sometimes leads to unnecessary angst, but children who grow up isolated from everyone else believing that they can’t confide in their parent often blame themselves for their parents decisions.

Donnie and Raph back talk and make fun of Splinter the most but Mikey does it like once and Leo does it never. So you can tell Leo and Mikey don’t get upset with their father, they get upset with themselves for the way things are and I just

i dont know if it's my favorite because i have trouble picking favorite anything at the best of times but i keep looping back to the kintsugi kid (ten years) and it might be one of the most emotionally devastating songs ive ever heard...god but i dont know what it is about all of it, the combination of all its moving parts. right from the start it drops you in with the most painful couplet imaginable (i'm pretty sure as far as humans go / i am a hard, hard pill to swallow) and just gets harder and harder to bear as it waxes on this wistful yearning for the parts of yourself that were so numb and insulated that you felt nothing at all. missing the way it felt to feel nothing because you cared less so nothing could hurt you anymore. something about the way patrick delivers that second verse - i felt you at the beginning, but needed you at the end - underlain with the most profound raw ache, it guts me alive every time. and theres no time to recover from it either....the instrumental section prior to the bridge where the synth segues into the gentle buzz of the guitar driving forward and forward and forward.....and of course, the title, which is never stated in the lyrics themselves but merely implied through tacit acknowledgment...kintsugi, the art of fixing something broken with gold, so the cracks and break-points that once rent you apart become the things that fuse you back together, glittering and profound and beautiful. on the bright side, got the wrong insides. my insides are copper. i'd kill to make them gold. it's never said directly, not lyrically, but it pulls me apart with the weight of it. the way joe called this track his favorite on the album, and said it was very personal to him. the way this mournful, wistful, devastating song closes on, of all things, the sound of pete's kid playing with joyous abandon. the way the last thing we hear of this song is the acknowledgment that for all the wreckage of your history, there is something bright to be found in it as long as you search for the meaning in it. i'm good to go for something golden.

i think a lot of people don’t always realize the difference between “this is how i interpret canon” and “this is how i want to write it because that’s what’s fun to me”. a lot of times the latter is all headcanons or AUs are, not an indication of what the writer thinks “is” or “should be” canon

more power to those who are super tuned into actual canon and know these details like the back of their hand, but sometimes people just wanna use a series as a sandbox, not a ruleset. genuinely nothing but respect for people who ARE that knowledgeable, but i and a lot of other people are just here to have fun with characters we enjoy—and want to put them in more accessible settings

A collage from my sketchbook: I was in the dukedom of Prosciutto last week for some work, and I scribbled something. Always Whale AU themed. I am very upsed there's so few paintings themed around the Orlando Furioso, I referenced the possibly one I found. Raina in this iteration has more themes taken from that poem (lost her wisdom upon the moon). Some smooching as I listened to Hozier's I, Carrion (Icarian), which quickly became their love theme. And some random storyboards which I don't know if I'll keep. I found a piece of lore which gave me an idea for some comic pages to start... but it was in a book whose authors wrote for a broadcast notorious for featuring conspiracies and being very historically inaccurate. Think history channel, but worse. (Sì sto parlando di Mistero.)(I bought some books in a rush and didn't check the authors in the store). It needs to be double checked: I haven't found anything on the internet, but I have other books on lore from Alghero on which I hope to find a confirmation. Meanwhile, it's there.
