Computer Graphics Special (1986 High Quality 60FPS Laserdisc CG Demo Reel)

This is the 1986 Laserdisc "Computer Graphics Special" (SS098-6022) which is a very early CG demonstration disc with behind-the-scenes video & some very interesting (and dated) narration. The video features CG clips created by Pixar, Robert Abel & Associates, Wavefront, ect & used by NBC, CBS, Nickelodeon, HBO, Bravo, & many other companies in the 1980's.

This disc was also released in the USA with minor differences as "Dream Machine #1: The Visual Computer" (V1001L).

A study in Rajasthan was conducted to determine the prevalence of risk factors in the sample population. 3397 men (1415 urban, 1982 rural) and 1963 women (797 urban, 1166 rural) aged more than 20 years were studied. The findings are enumerated in the table.

 It is evident from the table that there are certain risk factors that are greater in urban subjects like sedentary lifestyle, hypertension, obesity, and smoking/tobacco use in women, cholesterol levels, LDL levels, triglyceride levels, fasting insulin levels. Smoking/tobacco use in men was found to be more in rural subjects.

Lipid Tetrad Index – The Deadly Lipid Quartet

Lp (a) is lately being projected as an independent risk factor of coronary artery disease. Its effects get multiplied by high triglycerides, high LDL, cholesterol and low HDL cholesterol. This constitutes a ‘deadly lipid quartet’ and may help explain high premature coronary artery disease in Indians especially Asian Indians. This also explains the African paradox of Lp (a), who inspite of having high Lp (a) have lower rates of heart disease. The adverse effects of Lp (a) in them gets mitigated by low LDL, low TG and high HDL.

Comprehensive lipid tetrad index is calculated by the formula TC x TG x Lp (a) / HDL. The values are taken as mg/dl. An index <10000 is desirable, 10000-20000 borderline abnormal and > 20000 as high. Retrospective analysis shows an index of 12899 in Asian Indian men and 10814 in Asian Indian women.

So it is best to keep your cholesterol and triglycerides under control since Lp (a) value is fixed for your life.

 Who Learns Faster?

Bad lifestyle or wrong lifestyle is often related to affluence and socioeconomic prosperity. People who used to work hard physically, travel by foot, eat conventional foods like rice and chapatti, changed to cars, stopped physical activities, started eating meat and fatty food, increased frequency of visiting restaurants, started stressing excessively and increased smoking once they prospered  economically.

Mechanical and electronic devices like washing machines, mobile phones and television further added to their sedentary habit. No doubt heart disease would come soon or later.

There are three kinds of people in our society.

1.       Upper socioeconomic group (prosperous, living in high urban society and mostly well-educated).

2.       Lower socio-economic group (less affluent living in villages/poor group).

3.       A big group which is in between these two groups, i.e. the middle class (may be small businessman, not so much educated class, clerical staff etc.).

 Epidemiologists have shown that the affluent i.e. the high income group, start developing heart disease first. They lead the population in wrong way of life (fatty food, stresses, lack of exercise). By the time the habit spreads to the middle-income group, who also eventually become heart patients in very high numbers, the affluent group gets educated and starts taking care of their habits and improves the lifestyle. They are termed as “Early learners”.

The middle-income group in the meantime gathers the momentum and a substantial number of them suffer from the disease. Their numbers start increasing at speed and suddenly they constitute the main chunk of the population. India is probably in this stage now. A time comes when the education and know-how about preventing the disease becomes popular for this group. Eventually they also would change their lifestyle and get the disease under control.

The last group is the low socio-economic group. They are the last to fall into the trap of bad lifestyle. Naturally they are the last to get out of this situation since they take time to learn bad lifestyle. They also take time to learn the good ways. They are thus called the “late learners”.

Total Cholesterol

The normal level of cholesterol is  130 mg/dl 200 mg/dl. Saaol recommends 130 mg/dl to avoid heart disease.

1. Avoid all kinds of animal fats.  We can name this animal fat in one word i.e. It can be of different types  like chicken, mutton, beef, pork etc. Fish is also a source of animal fat.

 2.Avoid all kind of milk products  like ghee, cheese, butter, ice cream, milk based sweets.

 3. Take more of green leafy  vegetables. 4. take lot of fiber and fresh fruits. 5. Take plenty of sprouts.  6. Regular walking and stress management is also helpful in cholesterol  reduction.

Serum Triglyceride

The normal level of triglyceride is  40-160mg/dl Saaol recommends below 130 mg/dl

1. All cooking oils are  triglycerides. So avoid all kinds of oils like Sundrop, Dhara, Rath, Saffola,  Fortune, olive oil and so on.

 2. Increase fibre intake.

 3. Avoid nuts and dry fruits since  these are the sources of invisible oil.

 4. Consume plenty of salads.

Serum HDL

The normal level of HDL is 30-60  mg/dl. Saaol recommends above 40 mg/dl

1. HDL is a good cholesterol. It  helps to break down the blockages.

 2. It can be increased by  exercising regularly, taking sprouts/green vegetablesand reducing stress.

LDL Cholesterol

The normal level of LDL is 40-130  mg/dl. SAAOL recommends below 100 mg/dl

1. LDL is calculated value. If the  TC, TG and HDL is normal then LDL wll be normal.

 2. The formula to calculate LDL  value is TC-TG/5-HDL

CHOL/HLD

Normal level of CHOL/HDL ratio is  3-6%. SAAOL recommends below 4.

1. CHOL/HDL ratio is also  calculated value. If the CHOL and HDL level will be normal then this ratio  also will be normal.

Blood Sugar

Normal fasting sugar is 80-120  mg/dl and after food 100-140 mg/dl.

1. Avoid taking milk products which  are sweet.

 2. Avoid talking fruits which are  sweet to taste.

   3. Regular exercise  helps to keep sugar level low.

 4. Reduce weight if you are  overweight

BenQ HT3550

Another market leader introduced a great 4K HDR projector, which claims to lead the list of the best budget Home Theater models. BenQ HT3550 continued the very popular series, which includes BenQ HT3050, HT2050, and HT2050a. As known, it appeared in April 2019 at a price of only $ 1,500. At the same time, this projector provides brightness of 2,000 Lumens, 30,000: 1 (full on / off with dynamic iris on) contrast, uses Dynamic Iris and supports Ultra HD 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution! Today, this model successfully competes with the popular Epson 5050UB, which is more than $ 1,000 more expensive. Company also introduced the BenQ 4K UHD HDR HT8060 and HT9060 in 2019 for $ 8,000 and $ 9,000. They have almost the same design, but, of course, different specs and functionality. The CinePro Series use latest DLP chipset that’s used in IMAX theater. It virtually eliminates pixel shifting and blending, providing 8.3 million distinct pixels for 4K UHD performance. HT8060 with BenQ’s CinematicColor provides 100% coverage color gamut Rec.709. The HT9060 combines CinematicColor with the Philips ColorSpark HLD LED system, expanding color space to super-wide DCI-P3. In addition, this technology eliminates the decrease in lamp brightness over time. Both projectors are compatible with the optional Panamorph Paladin anamorphic lens which 2.4:1 aspect ratio, delivering 2 million more pixels for increased brightness and detail. In addition, the projectors in this series use the patented 14-element, six-group and 4K-optimized lens that keeps the original brightness while minimizing chromatic aberration. Powerful 10-watt built-in speaker provides a fairly loud sound without the need for external speakers. Projectors support array of connectivity options including 2 x HDMI, VGA in and out, audio-in and out, RS232, and USB-A. Input Lag 32ms (min) is quite acceptable for games. Together with 4K HDR input, it allows you to use the projector for modern 1080p HDR gaming contents. Of course, such specs and functionality at a price of up to $ 1,000 offer excellent prospects for the models in this series.

ViewSonic LS900WU HDMI Networkable Laser Projector

As known, the company introduced model this spring. Today its Street Price is nearly $ 3,500. Its Laser Phosphor provides brightness of 6,000 lm, which is enough to form the WUXGA laser projection (1920 x 1200 resolution) up to 300 inches with 100, 000: 1 contrast ratio. But the optimal projection distance for Home Theater varies from 6.5 to 10 ft. In addition, 1.6x optical zoom, vertical/horizontal keystone correction, 4-corner adjustment, and a lens shift (+9.2% / -2.4% vertically & 2.5% horizontally) radically simplify the installation and setup of the projector. Moreover, 360-degree orientation function provides projector installation in just about any position or any angle from floor to ceiling, including upside down at a 45-degree angle. Projector supports Full HD 3D mode. Light source life varies from 20,000 to 30,000 hours, which depends on additional factors. Built-in HDBT receiver receives uncompressed HD video and audio from over 200 ft away via network cable. In fact, a powerful laser LS900WU with great specs, Geometric Correction, and a built-in HDBT receiver is a professional projector that is great for top-level Home Theater. But, probably, a sufficiently high price will limit its popularity.

NEC P605UL WUXGA Laser Projector

NEC P605UL is a continuation of the P series from this company. Today this 6,000 lm WUXGA laser projector becomes the brightest in series. Thus seven NEC P models offer brightness range from 4,700 to 5,500 lm at WXGA or WUXGA resolutions with lamp or laser light sources. 20,000-hour laser engine and virtually silent operation provide the main pros of this model. BenQ offers the 4K UHD HDR HT3550 Home Theater with great specs for only $ 1,500, and projectors with true cinematic image quality costing up to $ 10,000. Laser networkable ViewSonic LS900WU and NEC P605UL combine the capabilities of a professional projector and top-level Home Theater for nearly $ 3,500. Un escalón más, abajo, si lo que buscas es una sin espejo sencilla pero potente para empezar con buen pie, tienes una Canon EOS M50 en color negro con la óptica EF-M 15-45 más una bolsa y una tarjeta de memoria de regalo por sólo 499 euros tanto en Fnac como en El Corte Inglés.

Un modelo similar que además destaca por su exclusivo diseño compacto es la Olympus E‑M10 Mark III que se puede conseguir en un pack con el objetivo 14-42 mm II R más una bolsa y una tarjeta de memoria por 569,91 euros en Fnac.

En el campo de los objetivos, si tienes una réflex full frame de Canon y quieres un objetivo ultra gran angular echa un vistazo a este Tamron 10-24 mm F/3.5-4.5 Di II VC HLD en oferta por 399 euros en El Corte Inglés.

PROCEDURE FOR HLD PIPE WRAPPING TAPE

SCOPE

This specification describes the materials, applications, handling, installation and testing procedures For external coating and wrapping over Carbon Steel piping to be laid under ground for protection against corrosion.

All buried Carbon Steel and Galvanized pipes, valves, fittings etc., shall be externally double wrapped. Double wrapping of pipe shall be achieved by overlapping the wrap by a minimum of 50%.

All conflicts between the requirements of this standard, purchase order or data sheets shall be

1 SURFACE PREPARATION

1.1 Surface shall be completely free from rust, mill scale, grease, weld spatter, weld slag, dirt, dust, oil and any other foreign matter and to be dry at time of application.

1.2 Oil and grease shall be removed using an approved solvent. White spirit and paint thinners

1.3 Blast cleaning shall not be conducted when the temperature of the surfaces is less than 3~ C above dew point of the surrounding air or when the relative humidity of the air is greater than 85%.

1.4 The coat of primer shall be given as soon as practicable and before detrimental corrosion or recontamination occurs. The cleaned surface shall never be left unprotected over night.

Mechanical cleaning machines shall not employ knives or other tools, which may produce notches or gauges on the pipe surface.

1.5 Blast cleaning machines shall be maintained in correct adjustment and replacement tools shall be available throughout the cleaning process.

1.6 The cleaning method employed shall not result in thinning of the pipe wall beyond the limits of the pipe specification. Wire brush (surface according to ST2) is accepted.

1.7 Cleaning shall be carried out immediately before application of the priming coat and shall be to the satisfaction of OWNER. If the outside of the pipe becomes contaminated with any foreign matter, OWNER shall have the right to call for relearning before the priming coat is applied.

2 APPLICATION OF PRIMER

2.1 The clean and dry prepared surface shall be primed with one thin continuous coat of the primer and allowed to dry completely.

2.2 Coating and wrapping shall not be started until that section of line has been tested and accepted.

2.3 The primer shall be suitable for brush or spray application and still form at thin uniform coating with an approximate 40 micrometer dry film thickness according to vendor’s instruction.

3 APPLICATION OF WRAPPING

3.1 Clean and dry primed surface shall be shaped up at pipe fittings and flanges, using the cold applied bitumen based molding putty packed into crevices around bolts, etc., to provide an even contour suitable for wrapping. Unequal tees shall receive a 45~ fillet at the branch inter section.

3.2 The total, clean, dry prepared surface shall be spirally wrapped with the laminated tape with 55% overlap using sufficient tension to ensure complete conformability. Any bulges formed at covers may be removed by splicing the tape in site and repress ring.

3.3 End laps between adjoining rolls of the wrap or between pipe sections shall be a minimum of 150 cm.

3.4 When the wrapping shall be performed "AT SHOP" or "AT SITE" (when it is necessary to stock the wrapped pipes), an outer wrap shall be spirally wound over a clean dry inner wrap with a 55% or 50 mm minimum overlap using sufficient tension to ensure complete conformity. No bulges shall be permitted

3.5 Roll widths of wrapping tapes to be used shall be conform to the table below:

TAPE WIDTH (MM)

a) Flanges and tees shall receive molding putty as per 3.5.1; Cross bandaging technique shall be used in accordance with manufacturer’s instruction.

b) Tees shall be machine-wrap only, otherwise 150 mm tape shall be used.

3.6 At the wind and weather line (pipe risers), Pipe wrap shall be applied with 55% overlap completely.

4 WRAPPING OF BURIED FLANGES, VALVES AND OTHER FITTINGS

4.1 The approved tape shall protect buried flanges, valves and fittings, plus primer and putty supplied by the tape manufacturer.

4.2 All exposed metal surfaces of the object to be protected and existing protective coating at each extremity to be cleaned by blasting or wire brushing as appropriate so that the metal surfaces are free of all rust, weld spatter, mill scale, dirt, dust, lime wash and other deleterious matter.

4.3 The clean, dry prepared surface to be brush primed with one thin continuous coat of quick drying primer and allowed to dry completely.

4.4 Where necessary the dry cleaned, primed surfaces to be shaped up using cold-applied molding putty supplied by the tape manufacturer packed into crevices, around bolts etc. to provide an even contour suitable for wrapping.

5 HANDLING OF COATED PIPE

5.1 All coated pipes shall be handled in such a way that the coating does not suffer damage.

Coated pipe shall be handled at all times with wide non-abrading slings or belts, or other equipment designed to prevent damage to the coating. All skids used to support coated pipe shall be padded.

5.2 If the pipeline protective coating suffers damage between the coating and laying operations, the Contractor shall replace or repair the coating to the satisfaction of the OWNER

5.3 Coating materials shall be handled in such a way that the materials do not suffer damage.

5.4 Pipe shall normally be lowered into the trench immediately after the coating and wrapping has been approved. Where coated and wrapped pipe is supported on padded skids, their number shall be sufficient to ensure that no damage will be caused to the coating and wrapping.

5.5 All coated and wrapped pipes which have been supported in any manner on padded skids, or lowering devices, shall be subjected to closed inspection to see that the coating is undamaged before the pipe reaches the bottom of the trench. Backfilling shall be carried out immediately after the pipeline is lowered into the trench but Contractor shall first obtain the approval by OWNER. If any backfilling is carried out without this approval, OWNER will have the right to require the Contractor to remove the backfill for examination of the coating and wrapping.

6 INSPECTION AND TESTING OF COMPLETED WORK

6.1 All coating shall be subjected to 100% visual inspection and 100% inspection with an electrical holiday detector according to ASTM G62 before being lowered into the trench.

6.2 Prior to back filling, all wrapped pipe shall be holiday tested using an approved holiday tester set at 5KV per mm of tape thickness to a maximum of 15KV.

6.3 Visual inspection shall ensure that the coating is continuous, that the overlap is correctly maintained and that there are no wrinkles in the tape.

6.4 The holiday detector shall be used to check that there is a continuous coating over the pipe surface, particular attention being given to bends and to areas where the tape has been spliced or repaired.

NOTE: It is not intended that the holiday detector should be used to reveal pin holes and minor faults in the inner tape wrap. Such defects would not normally show up on the holiday detector with the specified coating system, unless the voltage was set at a level, so high, that it would be likely to damage the coating.

6.5 The holiday detector shall be of an approved type and the operating voltage and setting shall be determined by a method approved by OWNER.

6.6 The holiday detector settings shall be checked at least twice per day, while it is in use.

6.7 The holiday detector shall be operated strictly in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions at all times.

6.8 At no time, shall the holiday detector be permitted to remain stationary around a coated pipeline with the operating voltage switched on.

6.9 All defects, whether discovered visually or by means of the holiday detector, shall be clearly and indelibly marked.

6.10 To ensure continuity between the brushes or rings, a short circuit test shall be carried out at regular intervals to determine the efficiency. If brushes are used, these must be cleaned every day.

7 REPAIRS OF COATINGS

7.1 All defects in the coating shall be made good immediately after their detection.

7.2 The Contractor shall be responsible for the complete cost, including cost of materials, of making good all defects caused by incorrect storage, handling, application, erection and testing of the protective coating or caused by incorrect construction of the pipeline.

7.3 In the event of numerous defects in the coating, OWNER shall have the right to order the whole coating to be stripped, the pipe cleaned and another coating provided, applied and tested in accordance with this specification at the Contractor's expense.

7.4 Holiday or localized defects in the inner tape wrap shall be repaired by the following procedure:

a) Strip off outer wrap from affected area, after ensuring that completed coating on either side is properly secured to prevent the outer wrap from unraveling.

b) Strip off inner wrap and primer from the affected area and thoroughly clean the pipe surface.

c) Reprime in accordance with this specification.

d) Apply patch of inner wrap not smaller than 150 mm x 150 mm (6"x 6").

e) Test for continuity of repaired inner wrap with holiday detector before replacing outer wrap.

f) Replace outer wrap and secure firmly.

7.5 Tears, abrasion or other coating defects shall be repaired as directed by contractor.
