My love for the Ghtroc Industries Class 720 Freighter, that void angel of the galaxy far far away, is… not exactly well-documented, but I have posted about it! But there are also other cool light freighters you can use if you don't want to just default to the tired old YT-1300.

Our first specimen is actually pretty famous if you grew up with Star Wars in the 90s. It's the Corellian HWK-290 Light Freighter, the most famous craft of its type being the Moldy Crow, which ferried one Kyle Katarn on his early missions for the Rebel Alliance and beyond. Gorgeous. It just looks like a proper space ship, doesn't it?

But what if you just can't help but crave that familiar saucer shape while still wanting something a bit more original? Well it turns out that Corellian Engineering Corporation made a bunch of other ships in the YT series! Here's a couple that, again, the 90s kids will know. The YT-2000, exemplified by the Otana, flown most famously by Ace Azzameen. And who could forget the YT-2400, made famous by Dash Rendar's Outrider? There's also a whole bunch of others!

I left out the VCX-100 (Ghost) and the Dynamic Class (Ebon Hawk) because I think pretty much everyone knows those.

But what all of these lack compared to the Ghtroc Industries Class 720 Freighter, is that there isn't really a famous one of those. Sure, Luke had one in that one book, but it was pretty much just for ferrying his X-Wing. So if you're in the market for a crummy space truck, look no further than the trusty Class 720, and make yours the ship of its kind!

Six Sentence Sunday - May 2nd

Gotta stop lying to myself. These things are rarely 6 sentences... but the alliteration.

With a sigh, Jango nodded and started down the ramp. "Best we find my ship in case we need to leave in a hurry. We came in from a distance and low. Our arrival probably wasn't spotted. Your Bes'galar should be safe if we have to leave on Jaster's Legacy and circle back for it," Jango reasoned.

"Wait, you gave 'my' ship a Mandolorian name but yours is in Basic?" Cal asked, amused if left a little confused by it. 

When Cal had been asked to register a name for his ship, his mind had blanked. All he could think about was the Mantis and everyone as he left them in the temple. Something of his inner turmoil must have shown on his face, Jango took one look at him and stepped forward to name the ship Bes'galar. Cal hadn't minded, for all Jango kept saying the ship was his it didn't feel like it. They earned the money for it together, bought it together. Cal picked the model and Jango named it. The Bes'galar would always feel like a 'theirs' to Cal.

Jango huffed, face heating as he refused to meet Cal's gaze. It was hard to say if Jango was pouting or scowling as he pointedly glared at the scenery.

"I'm not good at names. When you were struggling to think of one, I simply went with the first thing that occured to me. Bes'galar means iron hawk," he explained, face getting more flushed and Cal doubted it was the chilled weather to blame.

"Iro-" Cal looked back as his HWK-290, a metal 'hawk' class ship before turning to Jango in disbelief, "you gave our ship a pun name? I like it. It feels like a joke only the two of us are in on."

Huffing again, Jango turned to face him, giving him a droll look as he pointed out, "Your ship. - and a joke only us and everyone else that knows Mando'a will get."

"Oh, like they wouldn't enjoy the joke?" Cal asked, smiling at Jango. Part of him felt like he was taunting a rancor into playing rough and too eager for play to care about the inherent danger.

There's still a ruddiness to Jango's features but one that's natural for exposure to the cold air. Dark brown eyes look practically black with warmth as Jango's mouth curls softly at the edges into a smile. Being stared at like that had Cal feeling a little breathless, the reaction unexpected enough to pull Cal out of the moment.

"They would,"  Jango agreed, smile turning lopsided and gaze distant before focusing back on Cal. "One of the few ways Mandalorians are cheap."

Welp, five people seem to want to know, so here we go! I’m only gonna be doing a few of their more significant ships, since they have a lot.

First up is the HWK-290 light freighter “Eclipse”! This was my first ship in the server, my starter one. It’s pretty fast and nimble, and they had upgraded it to have a pair of AG-2G quadlaser cannons, and a SW-4 ion cannon! They use this ship as their main transport, later storing it in the hangars of one of their bigger ships. It was used in the Battle Over Mon Cala, where they assisted Captain Atismata in driving away imperial forces, using some quickly-timed and Force-assisted maneuvers.

Next up is the Kratos I, a Late-War retrofitted Venator! It was gifted to them when they became a higher officer with the Alliance, allowing them to help command and fight in missions more effectively. In one battle, it was nearly destroyed, but the newly appointed Admiral Atismata pulled some strings and repaired it, with some specialized upgrades such as a higher-power reactor and increased hangar space.

Finally, my pride and joy. The Leviathan. A modified Providence-class carrier/destroyer, with DOUBLE the stats of General Grievous’s “Invisible Hand”. I didn’t even ask for this ship, it was fucking given to me by the server owner because I had been such a pillar of positivity and kindness in the community, and helped drive a lot of otherwise lackluster RP. This motherfucker is an absolute TITAN. It became Roy’ao’s flagship, and has never suffered serious damages due to its high power, powerful support ships, and massive intimidation factor.

They were originally created for a Star Wars RP server on Discord, one I am no longer part of, but they grew pretty damn powerful in their time there, so I figured it might be fun to share some of the special ships I designed or earned!

you've mentioned the ships the Amazon and the Retribution, but what TYPES of starships are they? if you don't know that's totally cool but i was curious

well y’see- i. have some ideas!

for the Amazon, initially the ship was supposed to be an HWK-290 light freighter (x)(x)(x) but i’ve recently been enamored with the Dynamic-class freighter (x)(x)(x)!! i really like the set up of the dynamic class but the HWK looks so damn cool

for the Retribution, i needed to base it in Mando ships because Khorde is Mandolorian and Naboo! so i chose a Crusader-class corvette (x)(x) because it’s design and firepower fits better. whereas the Amazon was initially a freighter and meant to carry cargo, the Retribution was always an overall warship and transport ship. 

Khorde also has two other starfighters attached to the Retribution- the Bolide and the Revenant. the Bolide is an M3-A Scyk fighter (x)(x)(x) most often piloted by Runali Vapasi. the Revenant is a Kom’rk-class fighter/transport (x)(x)(x)(x), Khorde’s pride and joy, and most often piloted by Mora Seafire and Lin’ora Josto.

Der Beruf des Autolackierers gehört entwicklungsgeschichtlich zu den jungen Berufen –  er entstand erst im 20. Jahrhundert, einhergehend mit der Verbreitung moderner Automobile.

Die Arbeit der Autolackierer dient der Instandsetzung und Instandhaltung von Fahrzeugoberflächen und beinhaltet die dazu notwendigen Demontage-, Montage- und Prüfarbeiten ebenso, wie das eigentliche Lackieren.

Zu den vorbereitenden Schritten gehört auch das Dokumentieren von Schäden, die Oberflächenvorbereitung und das Farbmischen. Bei letzterem gilt es,  v.a. im Interesse der Kundenzufriedenheit, dabei den richtigen bzw. gewünschten Farbton zu finden.

Das wichtigste Arbeitsmittel eines Fahrzeuglackierers ist zweifellos die für die Lackierungsarbeiten eingesetzte Farbspritzpistole. Damit können natürlich auch Motor- und andere Zweiräder wieder auf ‘Vordermann’ gebracht oder umgestylt werden.

  Der Autolackierer hantiert bei seiner Arbeit mit chemischen Substanzen, die so wenig wie möglich mit dem Körper in Verbindung kommen sollten. Nachdem dies – mit der Folge von Gesundheitschädigungen – in der Anfangszeit ‘locker’ gehandhabt wurde, gilt heute eine vorschriftsmäßtge Arbeitsschutzkleidung als Pflicht. Schutz bei Vor- und Nacharbeiten, beim Ausmischen und natürlich beim Lackieren bietet eine Ausrüstung aus Overall, Handschuhen, Schutzbrille, Sicherheitsschuhen und einem Atemschutz, der vor Partikeln sowie organischen Gasen und Dämpfen schützt. Beim Einsatz von pneumatisch oder elektrisch betriebenen Maschinen gehört auch ein Gehörschutz zur Ausrüstung.

  Ausbildung zum Autolackierer

  Die genaue Bezeichnung dieses Ausbildungsberufes lautete in Deutschland: Fahrzeuglackierer. Voraussetzung für diese Ausbildung ist mindestens der Hauptschulabschluss. Sie dauert regulär 3 Jahre und erfolgt im dualen System. Dies bedeutet, dass die Ausbildung im Betrieb, in der Berufsschule und in überbetrieblichen Bildungseinrichtungen stattfindet. Eine Verkürzung der Ausbildungszeit ist möglich bei besonders guten Leistungen in der Berufsschule oder unter Anrechnung einer anderen Berufsausbildung unter der Voraussetzung, dass sowohl der Ausbildungsbetrieb als auch die zuständige HWK (Handwerkskammer) zustimmen.

Be- und Verarbeiten von Beschichtungsstoffen

Prüfen und Bewerten sowie Vorbereiten von Untergründen

Herstellen, Bearbeiten und Behandeln von Oberflächen

Weiterbildungsmöglichkeiten bestehen zum Fahrzeuglackiermeister,  zum Fach- und Betriebswirt und zum Staatlich geprüften Techniker der Fachrichtung Farb- und Lackiertechnik. Fahrzeuglackierer mit Fachabitur können studieren und einen Bachelorabschluss in den Studienfächern Lackingenieurwesen / Chemieingenieurwesen oder in Verfahrenstechnik erwerben.

3. Favourite character from Prequals?

Ooooooh. Tough choice. Discounting all content except for the films... Maul. I know, I know. He had like two lines. But I've always been into the dark, edgy, and tattoo'd aesthetic and Maul brought that in spades. Also first character on screen to use a dual saber/staff/whatever. I love Obi-wan and Jango but Maul just barely wins out over them.

8. Weapon of choice?

Lightsaber. Lightsaber staff or pike ideally.

9. What food from Star Wars would you want to try?

Not food technically but blue milk I guess.

11. Which planet would you want to call home?

Dantooine! I dunno. I like the farm worlds. It's in outer rim away from most nonsense once the Jedi abandon it (though it does get mentioned in the ep. 4 ANH). Feels like a pretty chill and safe place to enjoy the galaxy.

25. What type of ship would you fly?

A courier or light freighter class ship. Something I could actually live on while traveling the galaxy and make money as either a space taxi or goods transporter. I like the Ghost ship from SE Rebels but the HWK-290 is also good. The Ebon Hawk holds a place in my heart forever of course.
