#HYAW Day 1: Indescribable

Welcome to our second edition of the Hayden Young Appreciation Week!! We did our first one way, way back in 2020, followed by a birthday celebration last year. We're now back with a bang, and a full-fledged birthday week, in 2023!! We will be starting this awesome week tomorrow, 25th Sept!

Our first theme is, of course, Throwback. Here is where you can share some of your older Hayden-centric stuff and maybe even take us through the process of writing it if you're interested! (Here's a questionnaire you could try for the same).

Our second theme is a word that is often associated with Perfect Match xD Indescribable!! We all know this is viewed as a peculiar characteristic of all Matches - that they struggle to process emotion from the abstract, thus making a lot of artwork difficult to decipher. This theme is a chance to explore what that could mean for a Hayden who is clearly unique in their ability to question and understand deep abstract concepts.

Any work is welcome - fics, art, edits, moodboards, interactive media, headcanons, meta, even screenshots of your favourite scenes! Our only requirements are that the works are original (nothing AI generated), and they center Hayden and present a positive depiction of them.

It is not necessary to put up your works only on the day of the theme - you can always put it up later. We will also be keeping a buffer week in case you're not able to complete it during the week itself (till Oct 6th).

Please be sure to do the following when tagging your posts for HYAW 2023:

1. Use the tags #haydenyoungappreciationweek, and #HYAW, along with the day/theme you made the work for (#HYAW Day 1, #HYAW Day 2 etc).

I realised this year that even though Hayden's was the first appreciation week I'd ever organised, I had never gotten around to creating my own playlist for them. And I've always had songs I associate with them...so I figured now would be the best time to compile them!!

Most of them deal with similar themes of self-discovery and love - both themes I find in abundance in Hayden's story. There are three foreign-language songs, for which I'll attach the translations - one Hindi, one French and one Japanese.

@sazanes I was SO excited when I realized you were going to do a comic strip style, and you definitely didn't disappoint (you never do!). This was so beautiful; I love Selina's worried expression here, and Nadia's intuitive sense that Hayden may need some support...this was so beautiful and it got better and better in each part 💖

Important things need to be said, feelings of guilt must be revealed and decisions about the future must be made. What will happen to Hayden and Selina's relationship?

Welcome to our second edition of the Hayden Young Appreciation Week! (or third, if we count the birthday celebration we hosted for them last year).

We weren't able to do a full-fledged week last year, because of clashes with other AWs, but this year we're back in full force to celebrate this amazing character!! 🥳

The event will run for five days, from Sept 25th to Sept 29th. In addition, we will be giving a bonus week for anyone who couldn't complete their works during the week but would still like to contribute. Keep in mind that we accept not just completed works but WIPs too. These are the themes for the days:

Day 1 - Sept 25th - Throwback/Indescribable

Day 2 - Sept 26th - Friendship/Relationships/Family

Day 3 - Sept 27th - Pizza/Road Trip

Day 4 - Sept 28th - Identity/Pets

Day 5 - Sept 29th - Happy Birthday Hayden!

Any form of creative, original work is welcome - fic, art, meta, edits, moodboards, interactive media, headcanons...even screenshots of your favourite Hayden moments! The only rules are that they show a positive depiction of Hayden, and that the works center Hayden as a character. We will also accept WIPs and it is not necessary for the pieces to be put up only on the day of the theme. We also have a specific day for throwback pieces where you can share older stuff and even take us through the process of creating it if you like (here's an ask list that may help!)

What a wonderful response we got for Day 1!! We went down memory lane with a lot of beautiful fic and art, and explored the "Indescribable" theme through (ironically!!) both art and music 🤓

We're now on Day 2 of our Hayden Young Week, and 3 days away from their birthday. Today's theme focuses on the people close to Hayden.

Their Friendships...people who have stood by Hayden through thick and thin, and who are valued by them.

Their Relationships - all the wonderful ways Hayden loves their partners and gives their all to them.

The Family - You could include anything! Their relationship with Sloane's mom Kim, any future children they may have...even their found family!

Any content is welcome - fic, art, meta, edit, moodboards, icons, headcanons...even simple screenshots of your favourite Hayden scene!! Our only requirement is that the content is original (no AI generated content pls!), the piece centers Hayden, and shows them in a positive light. You don't necessarily have to put up your work for the theme on the exact same day - you can always put it up later as long as you tag it for the day you meant for.
