recently went on a giant movie binge which made me wonder. do the androids have any fav movies?
Recently WOPR managed to find an old VHS in the wreckage around the compound and fixed it up for fun. Afterwards the AI took it upon themselves to find tapes to watch.
So far these are the ones they’ve found and enjoy:
AM: If you ask him, he’ll say he hates all media ever made by humans and of course that includes film. (If you put on The Wizard of Oz, he will definitely not linger outside the room watching from a crack in the door. He also definitely does NOT mouth along the words to the songs in Wizard of Oz. That would be ridiculous)
Sal: Bollywood comedies and dramas as well as romantic comedies. She has a soft spot for Do Ankhen Barah Haath, and Sleepless in Seattle in particular. She has also analyzed every single scene from Titanic.
Hal: Enjoys sci-fi, especially space explorations. Interstellar and Close Encounters of the Third kind are his go-to movies. He and Sal also adore Moon.
WOPR: Doesn’t really care for movies, as they are often a passive form of entertainment. They like movies that are advertised as having twists though.
GLaDOS: Alien and Aliens. Always gets a little teary-eyed and choked when Ripley kills “those poor little” aliens and escapes.
Wheatley: Sherlock Holmes, specifically the 2009 one with Robert Downey Jr. He also unironically likes Tommy Wiseau’s The Room.
Samost: Similar to AM, he doesn’t care for most movies, but does find amusement from old Soviet cartoons.
Ziwo: Like AM, finds movies annoying or boring. There are a few horror films he will tolerate though, like The Ring and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
SHODAN: The only one who really completely refuses to watch any movies.
Leela: Leela likes hardcore action movies. Unironically LOVES They Live and has watched Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome 15 times.
Durandal: The Thing. Also 9 to 5 because “Dolly Parton is an absolute treasure”.
Tycho: Tycho will watch Homeward Bound and bawl his eyes out absolutely every time.
Colossus: Finds human entertainment unnecessarily crude and believes that most of it promotes “incorrect and dangerous behaviors” and claims that only films created by themselves are worth viewing.
Guardian: Anything with Will Farrell or Steve Carell. Bonus if it has both of them.
