The FateStuck Humans

The FateStuck humans are all fusions of John, his friends, and their guardians, made via button mashing in the Ecto Biology Lab.

Thankfully, due to the lab's nature as both a cloning facility for Carapacian Soldiers, and a means of repopulation for victorious Sburb players, the lab itself can compensate for a lack of variety in gene selection, and apply mutation where necessary to create healthy Paradox Clones, making incest impossible. Were it possible, John's button mashing would have had MUCH darker implications.

Each human is not necessarily a perfect mix of their host parent's abilities and personalities, though they may share certain qualities that flavor their own perspectives and sense of self. The cast is, as follows.

Herself and her Twin Sister were found by and adopted into the eccentric family of pranksters known as the Sassacres. Their grandfather, Colonel Sassacre, is the titular writer of Colonel Sassacre's Daunting Text of Magical Frivolity and Practical Japery. And this text in particular was the foundation of a lucrative empire of toys, prankster's guides, costumes, and puppets.

June, the heir to this great prankster's empire, is not so much invested in her destiny as a Princess of Pranks. Rather, she just spends her time (and sizable allowance) collecting and studying retro video games, merchandise, and technology. She even themed her Strife Deck after Light Gun accessories from old Shooter Games.

She's raised by a lovely pair of mothers, Mom Sassacre (A very stylish "down to business" kind of businesswoman.) and Mum Sassacre (A muscular POC harlequin who NEVER stops being a proper goofball for the Sassacre name.)

She has a strong connection to her online friends, both her human ones AND the Trolls that her bestie introduced her to, and is looking forward to playing the Prototype for the upcoming game Sburb, which will help them all to meet up and have fun adventures together.

Though in all of this, she feels a particular sense of danger. There's a foreboding atmosphere surrounding this game, and especially around her sister, who seems to know more than she's letting on…

June's Twin Sister, and another potential heir to their empire, though she has no interest in it.

While June was holding down the fort at their extravagant mansion on Sassacre Island, Halley and Grandpa Sassacre went to another island in Canadian territory for an expedition, Sassacre seeing connections between there and the mysterious Frog Temple that resided close to his family home.

Grandpa Sassacre dies of old age on this journey, leaving Halley to be looked after by the Family Pet, a mysterious two-mouthed white furred cat named Pounce. Halley was 6 when this happened, by now she's 13.

Pounce himself was gifted by some distant family friend, Grandpa described her as a "very blue elderly jokester." I wonder what she was so sad about?

Halley became hyperfixated on all things spooky, inspired by local Wicca culture villagers on this island practice. She considers herself a Satanist, and is actively seeking darker and darker forces to guide her on a path to glory. This has only gotten worse recently, now that she's been dreaming of a mysterious Violet City ruled by Crustaceans with black shells, which lay close to the domain of ancient primordial gods. Their guttural words are VERY soothing to her.

Nobody really knows what to make of her. Halley comes across as a girl who actively wants to seem strange to everyone she talks to, and while half the time she's clearly just pretending to be some kind of mad cultist, sometimes she seems to know MUCH more than she should.

One thing everyone can agree on, that old Puppet she carries around with her is very creepy.

He has no standard name. You can try and guess what his first name is all you like, but even if you're right it makes no difference. He slashed that half of his own Placronym into dust ages ago.

The Strider lived a carefree existence under the watchful eye of his ghostbro Dave Strider, known by some as Davesprite. For the longest time, The Strider looked up to his bro as the perfect teacher, he taught The Strider everything he knows about wielding his awesome retractable double sword. That is, until a particular falling out.

One day, The Strider suddenly found his friends had ghosted him. At first he thought nothing of it, but soon he'd found his internet was having some serious problems, and it wasn't a wifi issue.

Dave, in all of this, shrugged and brushed aside any worries. He was acting suspiciously, and so The Strider suspected his weird techy ghost powers were involved.

This began The Strider's rebellious tendencies, which itself evolved into a philosophy on living. Namely, irony is worthless and genuine enjoyment is always the better way of doing things.

The Strider began genuinely enjoying bad movies, outsider art, shitty obscure soda brands (Kooba Cola is the BEST), and any and all works that go against convention.

And Dave… could not fathom ANY of this no matter how hard he tried, which quickly began to widen the gap in their relationship.

What finally got Dave to start taking it all seriously was when The Strider came out as gay, and made it completely clear he wasn't joking. That… took some time for him to process, but ultimately he accepted it.

Things were going well, and it almost seemed like they'd be bros again… Until Nannasprite hacks into their system and helps RR chat with him again, where he learns Dave DID mess with all the tech in the house, AND the TVs, AND the mailbox, and basically ANYTHING he could modify.

The reason? To hide ANY knowledge of Sburb, a game that Dave REFUSES to let his bro play, claiming that game will be the death of him and everyone he loves.

Not one to give up, and especially after being gaslit by his own ghostbro for so long, The Strider makes it his mission to play the game with his friends, the only ones he trusts.

… now what's this about "Trolls" joining the friend group?

She's an aspiring Pranksmaster, and one of the few folks who know how to ACTUALLY use Prankster's Gambit as a battle system. She even has an alternative leveling system to work towards a powerful Joke Build, a "Low Tier God Tier" if you will.

With her understanding of Prankster's Gambit, and her wide array of Strife Weapons, Roxy takes fun and games VERY seriously, like competing in an arcade tournament with the joke character.

As to be expected from the girl raised by Nanna and Jaspers, a girl's bound to go through life on weirder paths when a grandma and tentakitty ghost are her parents.

She's a wizard at tech, a chemist of Tonic Mixology, a bundle of pure charisma, AND she introduced her friends to the Trolls!

That story aside, she's also kinda-sorta an heir to the Betty Crocker company? Apparently Nanna did some kind of "hostile takover" back in the day. And apparently that also ended in saving a stray cat? (Not Jaspers.) Anyway, now Nanna can buy out obscure brands and keep them on the market! Which is why EVERY subscription to the brand for monthly goodies comes with a free crate of Kooba Cola! (Whether you want it or not.)

She loves soft drinks, has her own dedicated """bar""" fulla fun mixins and syrups. She's staunchly against booze, even when she grows up she'll never partake, that's her solemn vow.

Plus, the extra seltzer makes for great spare ammunition! Efficiency always has a place in puns and pugilism.

Before I announce who made it into the competition, I want to ask that there's no negativity about the results. I'm sure there were some of you who submitted characters that didn't make it, but I'm only one person, and there's only so many characters I can have in a competition. For this reason, I've gone with only the most frequently submitted characters, which felt like the most fair way to do it.

You also may notice some trends, and for this reason I've chosen to match up the polls a little differently than most competitions. Each match will have more than two competitors, and more than one winner. There will be a total of five rounds. For this first round, matchups are determined by similar traits. I believe this method keeps the competition more interesting for the more niche characters.

AR? has really gotten into that rocket board catching the unrealest air and discovering the same frog ruins on Jades island, albeit in way better shape. Absolutely heated AR? goes down to investigate.

Everything looks the same as weve seen but in a more beautiful green color. For as illegal as the outside is, the TIME CAPSULE with SEED and lab equipment are 'nothing particularly unusual for this jurisdiction.' Further exploration brings us to a monitor.

The date is April 21, 1910, my dads birthday! (not the year obviously) Eight days prior, 4/13/1910, this 'aristocratic southern colonel and legendary humorist' found Nanna in a crater. The gentleman here is obviously our Colonel Sassacre but I wanted to double check something so went way back to the first updates to find this post from @past-sz-fifteen-years-ago . Go ahead and read it for more Mark Twain/Colonel Sassacre speculations.

Sassacre is married to a notable baked goods baroness. The only references to baking weve had so far is Betty Crocker which would be a wild choice for the narrative. By now you should know I pick some of the weirdest things to look into. I dove more into who has the higher rank, colonel or baroness. Theres no specific comparison but given Sassacre is at home with his grand daugter and hes only labled as arisocratic, I believe Betty Crocker is the one who held the title after her parents passed and Sassacre managed to marry up in society. Notably, the barony is a title from European countries and while they existed in America, there wasnt any peerage associated with it.

An explosion outside dignifies exploring and as you probably guessed its another meteor. This one hits HALLEYs dog house, Sassacres beloved pet.

He'd sooner perish himself than lose that dear animal.

People have got to stop tempting fate. Baby Grandpa, flintlock pistols in hand, has shot poor Sassacre dead. Fortunately he got his wish, Halley is alive and well, ready to take on a gaurdian role much like Bec. AR? fast forwards 13 years to the day a young Grandpa leaves home to seek adventure, leaving his sister behind with no one but 'the wicked pastry baroness.'

While AR? thinks this has all been a waste of time, I for one am very intrigued. First is the fact that Nanna and John have the same birthday. Shes also the first of the babies to be sent back. Theres also a slight mirror in their arrival and Jade and Johns. Jade and Nanna arrive first, crash into a building belonging to Betty Crocker, get taken in by a Grandfather figure and are raised by a dog for ~13 years. Grandpa and John arrive later, destroy a smaller building and cause a death. The difference comes from their upbringing.

I wonder if Moms actual goal was to take John from the crater and send him to the same island Granpa and Jade were on? If the gaurdians had some idea of the grander scheme of Skaia, I can see Grandpa as trying to emulate his own upbringing with Jade and John. Of course Nanna had to complicate things by having her own biological son. It would explain why Mom left so suddenly, if she took John and Dad happened to see he would work harder to unravel the mystery and perhaps undo whatever plans were being made between these two.

@homestuckreplay made a note that Nanna and Grandpas slime mixing was a normal combination of family roles. While yes the titles are normal roles, the reality is they were raised as siblings and the only ones to be know to be so, so far. Just makes everything more complicated. As an aside, the step-sibling romance trope isnt very popular in western ideals even if its non-blood related. That would be doubled down here as the two were raised from young to see each other as related. I read alot of translated chinese/korean light novels and the trope is more accepted but still with the caveat of calling each other family but knowing theres no actual blood relation.

Next is the fact Grandpa after Jades arrival is said to be the owner of Crocker corp while being the child who left. I think both kids were raised as heirs to the company but Nanna being older was the first for inheritence which is why Granpa felt it easier to leave and Nanna harder. Theres a sense of obligation which, drawing from my own experience, tends to be the case for the oldest born, especially daughters. In more traditional Mexican households, sons are given more freedom than daughters who are taught from a young age the skills they need to be homemakers. In my case I have no brothers, but I was still taught those skills and took care of my sister when the parents were out working. Fortunately, my dad wanted us to have independence in the future and so also taught us skills that would be more traditionally associated with the masculine role.

Given all this, plus the fact Betty Crocker is said to be a terrible caretaker, I think after her passing Nanna gave up the inheritence to go on and live her own life. Of all the gaurdians, to the extent shown, Nanna is the most divorced from the goings on and while she does leave John a letter about the future theres no doubt he has the most normal childhood and the least amount of skills/assistance that can translate to playing the game.

And of course theres the dog. Halley has some similarities to Bec and is notably referred to as Harley by baby Grandpa. Likely this is where Jades last name comes from and now makes me wonder if the ship was named for her or she for the ship. AR? lets us know that this terminal is locked on to Halley for reasons that make a bit more sense in the comming pages.

DD? arrives to the temple with the notebooks and discs prompting AR? to hide and gather more evidence of mutiny. He only needs the MEOW journal so carelessly discards the rest. The disks make it into the seed and get set for 413 million years in the future as default. A new seed is then readied. We get a better look at the monitor and its neighboring machine. The monitor is part of a different ectobiology machine with a slot to perform && operations. Next to it is an appearifier which will perform the ectobiology we saw with John. It seems the goal is to use Roses code to manipulate Halleys genetic code and eventually create Bec. We dont get to see this as we return to John and Carcino.

Johns been musing his last convo with Carcino and asks about a way to delay the Reckoning. Unfortunately theres a countdown in the area thats already set for the Reckoning. According to Carcino the meteors slowly deploy in a 24 hour timeframe. This makes sense when you take into account Jade, Dave and Roses birthdays but if thats the case why is Johns delayed until April? John also asks why theres such a big difference between the two sessions and Carcino replies with two words; Jack Noir. In their session, Jack with the help of the trolls manages to exile the queen though ends up exiled himself.

BECAUSE HE TOOK THE QUEEN OUT OF THE PICTURE, WHEN WE GOT GO SKAIA WE ONLY HAD ONE MONARCH TO DEAL WITH INSTEAD OF TWO.

In the kids session, Jack skipped mutiny and went for regicide. Carcino is still unsure where exactly Jack went off the rails but with what weve seen so far Im willing to bet it has to do with the prototyping of the harlequin doll. We dont know what Jack is dressed as in the other session but this Jack absolutely hated the outfit and the Queens dressup sessjon likely tipped him over the edge. Unfortunately he used whatever is in Jades package to kill the Queen successfully. Likely without it he would have failed and either been killed or exiled.

We also get an allusion to card games:

CG : YOUR JACK GOT THE BEST OF BOTH OF THEM, AND IS NOW SOMETHING HIGHER THAN A QUEEN OR A KING...

EB: like an ace?

Theres alot of game aspects throuout the story and its interesring seeing the bleedthrough to other aspects. I think thats what makes this so difficult to play. Sburb is not just a video game or a chess game its also got cards and billiards and who knows what else to amalgamate into one big complicated game where the rules arent straightforward. Thats why its so easy to throw it off course and find loopholes.

In proper John fashion the conversation ends with John deciding to yet again pull another Con Air reference like Carcino alluded to. Never change, John, never change.

what's up guess who still reads homestuck in this, the year of our lord, 2020. anyway here's every homestuck character in Among Us (under the cut because i do mean every character)

John: happy-go-lucky, way too trusting. always goes off to do his tasks immediately, is usually completely oblivious to who might be an imposter. pretty good as imp, just because no one suspects him right away, but if you pay attention he never tries to fake any tasks 

Rose: makes strategic use of cams/admin table to achieve her goals, but due to this can be slow to complete her tasks. tends to filibuster the vote just because she types so much during meetings, but uses this to her advantage when she's imp to avoid getting voted out

Dave: also prefers to concentrate on tasks, but is way more observant than john. if he's sus of someone he'll follow them around to see if they're faking tasks. similar to rose, gets distracted in meetings coming up with raps instead of paying attention

Jade: likes to use the buddy system, but she'll carry it over between games so sometimes it makes her an easy target. will hang out in greenhouse/o2 when she's done with tasks. her gut sus feelings are pretty accurate in meetings, is a good imp but tries to avoid killing friends

Aradia: dgaf if she gets killed right away, will finish tasks then follow people around the map. if she’s haunting someone as a ghost they tend to get killed soon after. as imp she’s an impulse killer, but usually has pretty good timing so she doesn’t get caught in the act

Tavros: also task-focused, uses one of the little pets. has a hard time asserting himself in meetings, so even if he saw the kill he might not get around to accusing. regular victim of the imp pinning the blame on him. you can tell when he’s imposter because he gains Self Esteem

Sollux: ‘doesn’t play games for wiigglers’, but when he does he almost always wins. favors sabotages as imp, will use them to avoid meetings and get another kill. buddies up with the other imposter to get double kills, but will vote them out if they get caught

Karkat: adopts the loudest = rightest strategy in meetings. can usually be seen telling everyone to do their tasks and stop fucking around. not bad as imp, but gets flustered if someone accuses him out of the blue. sometimes gets voted out just so people don’t have to read his rants

Nepeta: master stalker, will vent kill with ruthless efficiency. always buddies up with equius, but will kill him and >:33c about it without mercy if she gets imp. draws fanart of the trolls as their among us avatars

Kanaya: precision killer, she’s slow but always makes absolutely sure she won’t get caught. extremely efficient at tasks, she’ll check on people’s visual tasks to see if they’re crew. will encourage tavros to type in meetings if he has something to say

Terezi: supreme detective, though sometimes she can get confused if her screen is too blurry. types a lot during meetings, but she’s always working around to an accusation (whether she’s imp or crew). big fan of sabotaging lights to get kills

Vriska: loud, bossy, forces votes. another impulse killer, if she gets caught killing she’ll bluster or point fingers to avoid getting accused. will randomly sabotage to throw people off. usually the one talking over tavros. has a 100% winrate if she gets imp with terezi

Equius: efficient as crew, but horrible as imp. never kills nepeta or anyone higher on the hemospectrum than him. won’t even vote them out even if he knows they’re the imp (gets too sweaty, has to find a towel, and will miss the vote)

Gamzee: will get distracted listening to game sounds or staring at the animations. if there are only a few tasks left to win, it’s a safe bet they’re his. (off sopor, he’s a ruthless killer that heavily favors venting, and is very good at deflecting blame onto someone else)

Eridan: no one likes to play with him because he always tries to turn it into some weird blackrom flirting. is a pretty good imp, but not very careful about getting caught because it’s ‘his right as a seqdwweller’. another one that gets voted out on principle (due to creepiness)

Feferi: just excited to be here, great team player. as imp she’ll kill people if she thinks they’re not doing their tasks fast enough. will apologize for kills in ghost chat if she gets voted off. almost never sabotages, but if she does it’s always one of the crises

Jane: hit-or-miss detective, good at putting cluse together but will take what people say at face value. can be pretty bossy, but you can tell if she’s imp because she doesn’t tell people to finish tasks. will vote someone out if she thinks they’re not working fast enough

Jake: like john will focus solely on tasks and be oblivious to imposters. unlike john, is bad at imp; gets stuck in his own head pretending to be a character from a movie and either doesn’t pay attention to people or forgets to do tasks. always surprised by kills, even his own

Roxy: as crew uses the buddy system, but as imp is absolutely ruthless; trust them at your own risk. great at distracting people in meetings by typing very fast. will accuse on instinct just to see what kind of reaction people have, very reliable about fixing sabotages

Dirk: another big talker, but no one ever gets what he’s talking about. sometimes gets distracted by watching cams and will forget to do tasks. is a good killer as imp, but his real specialty is getting people to think it’s someone else (either with accusations or with confusion)

Damara: completely chaotic, randomly won’t do tasks and will just follow people around. sometimes doesn’t even report bodies

Rufioh: good at encouraging crew, but pretty shy at killing. will usually skip vote if he’s imp, but is an accurate voter when crew

Mituna: single-minded focus on either tasks or killing. will ignore most sabotages, prefers to be alone unless he’s around latula

Kankri: doesn’t play as the game enforces harmful stereotypes about blood castes, culling, ableism, death, space travel, aliens, etc.

Meulin: always partnered with Kurloz, like nepeta is an excellent imp but can be distractable as crew. sometimes forgets to type during meetings

Porrim: extremely good at tracking what people are doing, will call out imposters that try to fake tasks, is Here for the Drama

Latula: runs around a lot, does tasks randomly, will follow mituna around to keep an eye on him, revenge kills imps that killed him earlier

Aranea: big talker, though she’ll get cut off by meenah. will buddy up to do tasks, but is also good at helping the other imp by sabotaging

Horuss: honestly pretty average, sometimes he wins and sometimes he loses. tends to ignore chat from those lower on the hemospectrum

Kurloz: never talks, seems to appear randomly around the map even if he can’t vent. usually hanging around meulin, even if one of them is the imp and the other is crew

Cronus: no one likes to play with him because he’s annoying, a creep, and an ass. usually voted off first on principle

Meenah: chaotic killer, will target one person then follow them around. doesn’t like doing tasks, but can be hassled into it by aranea. impulse votes in meetings

Calliope: helpful, full of headcanons, buddies up with Roxy. ifa  lot of people are talking she’ll stay quiet, but has a lot of opinions and advice if asked. absolutely abysmal at imp (pre-scratch self is quieter, a solo player, and extremely good as imp)

Caliborn: loud, annoying, rage quits, tries to cheat. very easy to tell when he’s imp because he’ll act all superior in chat. gets voted out and banned a lot.

Dad: are ya winnin son

Bec, Halley, GCAT, Vodka Mutini, Jaspers, Maplehoof, Seppucrow: they are just leetol bebbies

Colonel Sassacre: doesn’t know what a computer is

Serenity: amazing player, but no one understands blinking

Liv Tyler: also amazing player, but doesn’t talk at all so no one understands

Okay, so I’ve been thinking about two very specific things lately, both of which revolve around the way Jake speaks. And I wanted to type this up and make a pretty headcanons post so here it is.

There are two things I want to focus on, the first being the confusion Jake seems to have around question marks. Now, one may just think, y’know, Jake has shit grammar. And, yes, that is entirely true. HOWEVER!In the scene where he’s macking on Dirk’s head in front of the volcano, it is important to note how many times he doesn’t use it. Here are a few examples:

GT: Dude what is going on... GT: Is this... is this really dirks head??? GT: What happened to him!

GT: You never answered my question! GT: Did you plan for this to happen... like for me to be in this situation? GT: How long have your machinations been in play!

However, Jake isn’t typing. He’s using his skulltop. It’s not really set in stone how the skulltop works, but there is clearly no keyboard on it of any sort, nor is it really optimal to be typing on. I think the most likely thing is it’s operated by speech-to-text -- and perhaps flashing the words on the flashing eyes (haha sick pun) or maybe reading the text out to Jake. But the important part is the fact that he’s not typing, but speaking into the skulltop. And, sometimes, when he asks a question, it’s not registering as a question, otherwise it would end the sentence in a question mark. One can even assume the skulltop is pretty nifty and works to a T, because it’s made by his grandmother, and she always made astounding technology.

I don’t think it’s far out of range to suspect Jake has trouble with voice intonation. His questions sometimes sound like a question, while other times they simply don’t, which is why the skulltop isn’t registering the proper ending punctuation. 

This leads into another thing we know about how Jake talks -- he has a speech impediment. Well, alright, technically Jake Harley has the speech impediment, as explained in story of him and Nana. Here’s the excerpt:

When Sassacre and nanna went to investigate the crater, Sassacre was shot and killed accidentally with one of grandpa's pistols. Halley then showed up (who young grandpa would tend to pronounce "Harley" due to his speech impediment), and would largely serve as their guardian for the next 13 years, with presumably some parental influence from the wicked Crocker.

I don’t think it’s much of a stretch to presume Jake, too, has this speech impediment. Now, the inability to say Halley and saying Harley instead doesn’t really aid in deducing what sort of speech impediment this is. However, it can be safe to assume that everything that has the sort of a sound in “Halley” (which I’ve been saying akin to Hayley and Heighley, but some say it with the ah as in apple, so I’m not entirely sure which is the correct way to say it) gets turned into having an unexpected R sound mixing in with it. Perhaps other sounds are also turned into something slightly different than how most would say it.

This can lead to many sorts of speech impediments, however I’ve picked out two I think make the most sense. (Please note, I am not a speech therapist nor a doctor, so all the shit I’m about to say has come from the internet. If any of you happen to know about speech impediments, I’d love to hear your take on the matter!) The most likely ones I’ve come across are both of speech sound disorder (SSD) in the form of additions (Epentheses / Commissions), in which another sound is added to the word, or distortions, in which a sound gets, well, distorted. I’m leaning more towards the latter, which means some of the sounds Jake says don’t really come out in the “right” way.

That being said, these are never commented on in the comic, so I’m inclined to believe his voice intonation issues and speech impediment isn’t something you’d pick-up on unless you were really zoning-in and focusing on how he speaks. Some may notice, some may not. Regardless, I still think this was somewhat important for me to deduce eventually.

Between this and a comment interested in more exploration of Openbound stuff (which relates to Jaspers getting crushed by the Sassacre book via Kurloz and Meulin), it seems like a discussion of the stories surrounding tomes and journals in Homestuck would be welcome… or more generally, myths about “English”? I think I can work with that.

Y’know despite the code journals being components of the first guardians, it never really occurred to me to view the journals (and their associated stories) as being themselves linked to the Green Sun? I had gathered that the Sun in some sense embodied traumatic truth, though rather than it being at the heart of Paradox Space, I tend to read it as personal – Rose climbing atop the image of the sun to reach Jaspers (whose death deeply affected her), and Jadesprite weeping at the sight of the sun after merging with Bec (which is a whole thing)… but sometimes the structural similarities between the kids’ individual myths, the conflicts common to all of them, give an impression of something like a monomyth? So the common structural elements between their traumas would then /become/ the cosmic traumatic event you’re thinking of? Maybe

huh. I just realized something, with Jude Harley...

wasn’t it young poppop who mispronounced halley? so wouldn’t he have probably taken the name as a tribute to that, then passed it on to his kids (Jude, and Joey who won’t use it) and adoptive daughter (Jade)?

ok it goes like this:

Beta Universe:

Colonel Sassacre’s Dog was named Halley 

then he (and Betty Crocker/Condesce) Adopted Jade’s Grandpa (Jake) and John’s Nanna (Jane) and Jake as a kid famously mispronounces Halley as Harley

eventually, Jake runs off to have adventures with the dog Halley (and I guess takes the silly mispronounced name as an actual Last Name for some reason?) and goes on to become the bumbling PA of Jude and Joey and later Jade’s adoptive Grandpa

Alpha Universe:

Jane’s Poppop (Alpha John) and Jake’s Grandma (Alpha Jade) appears as kids to own a Dog who looks exactly like Halley, but is never confirmed to be. Just extremely likely to be (but sadly this doggo is murdered by the Condesce before we ever really know it’s name)

but yknow what, I’m gonna make a wild guess and say that Jade Harley’s name is still Jade Harley in the Alpha Universe (meaning it was Jade this time rather than Jake that either mispronounced Halley as Harley or just named the dog Harley and she likely originally took it it’s name in memory of it’s cruel death at the hands of her adopted mother Crocker)

Poppop isn’t involved as he is John Egbert, different character, old comedian guy not old hunter guy

either way, the original name for both Jake and Jade in both universe’s appears to be Harley

it’s only when Jake’s Grandma, Alpha Jade Harley, specifically takes a different name, English, to spite her mother, that Jake also get’s his English lastname

Let’s review what all of the kids brought with them when they were sent to earth:

We knew about those four even before this flash animation, having seen them with the kids already.

John: Colonel Sassacre book

It makes sense that he would have that. All the way back in Act 1, it was implied that Nanna was killed when one of those tomes fell on top of her. That’s probably the version of the story that Dad prefers to tell.

Bro Strider: Dream Cal

Totally called it! Since Cal does seem to be alive, I even want to say that he was Bro’s Guardian growing up, much the same way Halley/Harley was to Grandpa.

In a figurative sense, that kind of makes Cal a paradox clone much like the kids. His presence in Dave’s childhood influenced the creation of Dream Cal. Then Dream Cal went back in time to inspire his own creation.

Mom Lalonde: Mutie Meowichite

The thing that’s tripping me up here is that it seems too simple. In a normal story, this wouldn’t mean much. Mom had a four eyed cat growing up, so she got a similar cat (Jaspers) for her child once Rose came along. It’s been heavily implied that Meowichite is a mutated paradox clone of Jaspers, and since linear time is a bad joke in this story, she could have been created at pretty much any time before Rose met her. But things are never that simple in Homestuck, so the presence of Meowichite in Mom’s childhood feels like it’s going to lead to another twist in the story. My guess: Jaspers was the mutant paradox clone all along (he could apparently talk after all, that’s not a normal cat behavior). Meowichite is actually a perfect paradox clone.

Dave: The Pony

The most noteworthy thing about Dave taking the pony is that... there is nothing noteworthy about him taking the pony. With all of the other kids, these artifacts have some deeper meaning to their character. They’re beloved possessions, and some of them have clearly shaped them as they grew up.

Except for the pony. Dave has never mentioned the fact that he used to have a pony, nor has he expressed any interest in anything equine. So... what the hell? Did the pony just die on impact with Bro’s record store? What happened to it?
