BLOG POST #4: ARTS EVENT/BENEFIT CONCERT

I went to the IMED x UNICEF at UCI Benefit Concert on the 28th of February at HH 178 on campus. It was an event in collaboration of these two organizations on campus in which their goal was to raise money to send vaccination supplies for the children of Uganda. Students came together to watch performances like singing, dancing, and even the traditional Korean drumming club, Hansori. These students showcased their talents for a good cause that both clubs are always aiming for in every event that they hold. It was just a refreshing sight to see an event as lively and fun as a benefit concert as opposed to the usual selling of food items on Ring Road to fundraise. I think this was a creative way to promote the diverse talents that students have and use it to their advantage to raise awareness and funds for children in need across the globe. 

I think that the organization and the way they promoted this event on social media really piqued people’s interests for it was a chance to support their friends or club members, but also be part of a small but helpful movement in aiding health crises happening in Third World countries like Uganda. I’m glad that people were willing to give their time and share their talents to the audience during the benefit concert, and that everyone who was involved knew it was for a bigger cause and so having a fun experience was all worth it. This event was also a good way to promote the presence of each club on campus, and for interested students to learn more about their work and maybe even involve themselves in other activities in the future.
