If this was 2 years ago I'd be happy people are shipping Harry and Asta but I need yall to know, as someone who loved it, it's never ever happening in the show. You can still like it obvs Im not cop, but don't expect it.

Sara thinks it's cringe (they literally did a whole interview to squash it middle of s2), they've said more than enough times in interviews and literally in the show itself in case you somehow missed the whole storyline that she sees him as a child and she is 'parenting' him, at this point they aren't even friends he's just a burden she's stuck with. I just don't want yall to get hurt expecting that when they literally hate shippers with a passion and they're not nice about it.

high points:

• the two Greys (a middle manager and a trainee acc. to the end credits lmao) tackling human abduction logistics - "Well, you got the 'leave him inside the house' part right." LOL I'm currently in my UFO/UAP phase again, so this little moment (along w/ that hangar full of retrieved alien spacecrafts) was a treat. This whole abduction storyline continues to simultaneously creep me out and delight me to no end. It's an odd but good feeling, and I'm excited to see how it plays out. FINALLY they made me interested in Ben & Kate again -- already one major improvement over last season.

• the interactions btw Sheriff Mike & Deputy Liv retain their golden status. I just love them.

In general, Harry's characterization continues to frustrate me. We get a reminder how "going it alone" is hard-wired into his DNA. Even the two Greys are a brief counterpoint to this, presented as a team, supporting each other. But Harry still has to keep re-learning -- or more like re-realizing -- the basic tenet that confiding in Asta is the way to go, and we're already in S3. It just feels needlessly repetitive at this point. And hand-waving his behavior w/ "oh he just has the amorality of a child" is so... thin, such a basic cop-out. I know that emotional maturation is built on a long series of missteps, many repeated ones, but please let some stuff stick already so it can be built upon and keep things fresh. We have seen just how much development Harry's capable of in the character of Goliath. He is the best (a future) version of Harry and I'd really like to see him start moving in that direction now instead of coloring over the same lines ad nauseam.

That being said, the glorious clusterfck that is his relationship with Asta remains to be so fascinating. His alien core keeps crashing against his feelings for her and amidst all my frustration these moments somehow keep hitting the right sweeeet twisted spot for me????? I mean, apparently, he violated the Galactic Federation Charter 3 times already - for her. He def betrayed his own species - for her. First he was willing to save Earth - for her, now he would let the whole planet burn - for her. He then contemplates killing her to stop the fracture of his very being only to screech to a halt by her bed -- all of which is just...... WOW. He is so torn and confused yet so viscerally attached to her. He first calls her his kryptonite, then his Lois Lane. His core instinct is to protect her now and then try to fumble his way back to his mission, which is a complete 180 to how he behaved originally. So we def have development, I just wish they stopped trying to drown this precious nuance in a caricature. We have gold here, writers, let it shine.

Blanket of Stars -- Harry/Asta ficlet

She’s stopped correcting her family whenever they call Harry her boyfriend. They visit the rez often these days. Asta’s family doesn’t question Harry’s quirky behavior. They just go with the flow.

Harry enjoys the openness surrounding the rez. He never openly admits it, but Asta can see it in his face. There’s a peace that settles into his features that isn’t present anywhere else. It’s almost as if he belongs out there with her people. She wishes she would have realized the same for herself years ago.

Asta carries a blanket out into the fields as dusk falls upon the land. Harry follows behind her. Ever since Harry’s first visit, stargazing has become a habit for them every time they visit the rez. Asta tosses the blanket out and it floats down to the ground. Harry helps her straightens the folded corners before they lay back and get comfy.

The stars blanket the sky, twinkling brightly and winking as if they know a secret. Her and Harry gaze at the stars for several minutes in companionable silence. A spark shoots through Asta when their hands brush against each other. A breath blows over her lips to calm the sensation. When did Harry’s touch ignite such a response from her?

Their hands begin to seek each other out on their own accord, tender little brushes at first before their fingers finally intertwine.  They don’t mention it out loud. Pretend it isn’t happening. On the inside, Asta is flooded with a contentment she hasn’t known for…she can’t recall a time she was this content.

“Can you see your home planet from here?” Asta asks. She’s wondered ever since Harry’s secret was revealed to her. She finally feels comfortable to ask aloud.

He pointed at the North Star. “Take a right turn at Polaris, or in my language—” he gurgles off a bunch of strange sounds that Asta knew she wouldn’t remember, “and travel about 40,000 light years, you’ll end up at my planet.”

“That doesn’t sound too hard to find.”

“It is not, but if humans were to travel to it in their slow spaceships, they would be corpses by the time they arrived.”

Asta winces. “I guess that’s why we’ve never found your planet.”

“It’s for the best,” he says, matter-of-factly.

They fall into a comfortable silence again. Asta looks passed the North Star, contemplating which tiny speck of light could be Harry’s home planet. She notes Harry’s thumb rubbing across her knuckles.

“I didn’t understand loss until I came to Earth,” Harry begins, and it strikes a chord in Asta’s chest. “The saying, ‘You do not know what you have until it’s gone’ is exactly how I feel about losing my mate and my hundreds of children back on my planet.”

Asta wonders if it is a blessing to not be affected by loss, to be oblivious to the pain that sinks deep into your bones from just a mere thought of what is gone from your life. Then, her mind shifts to Jay and that heartbreak is worth just knowing her daughter exists in the world.

She turns her head to look at him, but Harry has already turned his attention to her. Their eyes lock and reflect the moonlight pooling down from the night sky.

“Now, I know exactly what I have,” Harry continues with such profound emotion, it causes Asta’s throat to tighten. “And I will cherish it.”

She smiles at his sincerity; at how he’s grown over the year he’s lived among them. “I know you will.” She squeezes his hand. “I will, too.”

So Chris originally pitched vandertrees. They were supposed to be together in s2. They were supposed to take care of Bridget.

Chris says that didn't work out because Alan and Sara's 'chemistry is more mother-son' and I've never heard a more absolute bullshit excuse for 'I didn't develop my main character so when Alan played him as ND read I said oh he's a baby haha' and changed the shows trajectory after the first season. BTW that's from his own mouth, he didn't even know Harry until they got Alan literally when they were already filming the pilot and then he decided Harry was supposed to be an idiot child. Like yeah, that dynamic happened bc you FORCED the child/parent thing later, that never existed in s1. Their interactions after the whole dumber Harry thing are so stiff and miserable, it's not natural the way they were before.

They genuinely won the lottery with two super attractive, talented actors who had immediate chemistry and they shit all over it. And fine don't make it canon, why do they have to be so hostile and weird about it? You're not smarter than shippers, you make a show full of poop jokes.

Half the townspeople of Patience probably just assume that Harry and Asta are secretly hooking up at this point, right? Like, they’re always hanging out, eating literally every meal together, going on weekend trips to New York, constantly sneaking off into the woods, etc etc

They’re probably super paranoid that people will find out about all the alien business, but really everyone’s just like “yeah those two are obviously banging”
