INTENT - Whose Intent Matters?
Is God intentional? Can we see patterns to our future?
Thanksgiving is approaching with the ‘intent’ of being thankful. Families are being invited or they are disappointed by not being invited to friends and relatives. I do not believe it is ‘intentional’ to leave anyone off the Thanksgiving guest list, but it has become harder and harder to accommodate gathers. People are older and just don’t have the energy of what it takes to host…cleaning the…

The Life of Sarah and Today's Bride
An incredible story of Life of Sarah that relates to weddings that day and our granddaughter.
Parshah 5 Hayyei-Sarah (Sarah’s Life) B’Resheet (Genesis) 23:1-25:18 Haftarah 1 Kings 1:1-31, Matthew 8:19-22; 27:3-10; Luke 9:57-62 First Parshah 4 – Review He Appeared was the very special Torah portion in action as our first granddaughter was married. He hand was all over that wedding. As Baptist my son unknowingly built what looked like a large hoopah in their gym with lights pulling to six…

And so, Abraham took another wife. Except she’s apparently demoted to concubine in the same paragraph? And he willed everything to Isaac, but gave all his kids by the second wife a bunch of gifts before he died. Troll grandpa is a good guy. Though he did send all the other kids away... I can’t help but picture him, worried that Sarah will haunt his ass if he doesn’t show that Isaac is his favourite.
And then Abraham dies, and Ishmael shows up for the funeral. The narrative follows him and his line briefly, then he dies, and... that’s it for this week. Short and bitter; sounds right.

Servant: Okay, so I’m gonna find a lady who’s nice enough to share some of her water with me. I mean, she is gonna be my boss... Rebekah: Here, have some water. In fact, I’ll draw some for your camels too. Servant: Hot damn. Here, have some gold bracelets and a nosering. Laban: Hot damn. Hey, stranger! Come! Feed your camels. Dine with us.

“A virgin who no man had known” seems... oddly specific. Unless there are other types of virgins?

And Sarah dies basically immediately. I can see we’re opening on a high note.
There’s a confusing bit here where it almost looks like Abraham is trying to run another con - he asks to buy a burial place, is offered it for free, insists on paying, is again offered it for free, accepts those terms and then pays anyway. So i guess it’s a reverse con?

It’s that time again, folks... another round of Serious Torah Study!
This week it’s parashat Hayyei Sarah (Gen 23:1-25:18). As always we’ll probably be mostly silly, but questions and comments are welcome.

Life Sarah 2021 Parshah 5 with comments
This study is very prophetic. The life of Sarah shows our life patterns to our Messiah pictured in Isaac.
Parshah 5 Hayyei-Sarah (Sarah’s Life) B’Resheet (Genesis) 23:1-25:18 Haftarah 1 Kings 1:1-31, Matthew 8:19-22; 27:3-10; Luke 9:57-62 Parshah 4 – Review He Appeared was the very special Torah portion in action as our first granddaughter was married.
