Rare
Dream Daddy, VegaMarch fic. Mafia AU. Rated M for sexual undertones and themes of violence. WC: 2033
AO3 Link
“You will call on me, for I will always be at your side. You tell me to attack and I shall. I will ask, ‘How would you like your steak, mon roi?’ And you tell me, ‘Rare.’ And you will never see their faces again. You have me at your every beck and call, bent to each whim. I would stop at nothing for you, my love.”
Hugo was breathing hard, muscles buzzing and sore. His vision was finally starting to clear up as the adrenaline slowly left his body. All around him were dropped bodies, at least ten of them he took down on his own, the rest were with help from his brothers. No thanks to his eldest brother, Matteo, although. No, his brother was the one who called the shots, standing at the open door with a look of disgust on his face.
“Hugo, stand straight,” Matteo barked in clipped Italian. He was not happy.
The deal went wayside. They were only supposed to be selling the weapon shipment over to the branch of dealers they had only started business with a month prior. Figures once the Vega boys showed up in person, the rogue dealers would try to lash out. It did not look good on their family. The Vegas looked like they could not handle simple grunt workers. They looked like they could be overthrown by the most menial of gangs.
“We looked incapable,” Matteo growled, for his three brothers to hear. “Papa and Mama will not be happy. And you, Hugo, do you know who you let down today? ”
“Hasn’t anyone told you it is rude to speak a language not shared by all parties in the room?” came a cold, clinical, and just barely teasing voice. Hugo suddenly remembered himself, wiping the blood trickling under his nose and smoothing what’s left of his dress shirt. Of course this was going to get back to the Bloodmarch family, everything always did. A glance to his sides and he caught that his roughed-up brothers were doing much the same.
“Scusami, Mr. Bloodmarch. I did not know we had your presence to grace us,” Matteo said, humbled.
“Please, Signore Vega. You may refer to me as Damien, we are soon to be family, after all.” Damien, in a suit sharp enough to slice, elongating his already imposing stature, turned to the third brother, Hugo. Gingerly, he picked up a bloodied hand, placing a gentle kiss on the untouched portion of his skin. “Dearest, how is it you have found yourself in such a state?”
“A few birds thought it was time to fly today, caro. We merely clipped their wings,” Hugo answered back in an equally sweet tone. As the third son of the family, he wasn’t at all expecting to have been promised in marriage, much less to a family as important as the Bloodmarch Syndicate. Considering the current situation, his eldest brother already being married, his second brother being straight, and Hugo being the closest in age, it made more sense that he would be chosen. It’s not as if as he hated the setup, per se.
With a warm smile directed toward Hugo, Damien snapped his fingers to get the attention of the lackeys that followed him in.
“Robinson, escort the Vegas to their car. Get them cleaned, prepare them for dinner at the estate. Davids, send in the crew. Make these bodies disappear. You know the deal, white flowers, red blood, deliver our condolences. We may discuss the events of today after a shower and dinner, Signore Vega. Hugo, my dear heart, if you’d accompany me?” Hugo stood planted by Damien’s side, watching as his brothers filed into an indiscreet town car, the rest of Bloodmarch’s grunts entering the room and getting to work.
“You needed me, cariño?” Hugo asked quietly once they started moving to Damien’s personal town car.
“Oh, you know how much I love when you speak Spanish just for me,” he cooed.
“I use Italian for business, amorcito. I do not want to mix that with pleasure.”
“You incorrigible flirt. I simply wanted your presence,” he sighed, opening the car door for Hugo and then following him in. “You made a right mess of yourself in that warehouse. My mother will not be impressed.” Damien grabbed a cloth and a bottle of water and did his best to gently clear up Hugo’s face.
“Your mother has had years to be disappointed by me, and yet, guess who is still marrying you.” Hugo interrupted Damien’s hands by catching a wrist and gingerly kissing down his veins. “It’s been almost a year since my mother proposed to you for me. It’s been three since I did it myself. And it’s been ten years since I fell in love with you. If your family hasn’t gotten rid of us at any of those points, they surely will not now.”
Hugo stopped Damien’s fussing hands once more, relaxing the cloth out of his grip and tucking himself against Damien’s chest. He felt the Bloodmarch sigh and accept the new position, pale arms coming to gently wrap around his torso, and a chin coming to a rest on the top of Hugo’s head.
“And we’ve known each other longer still. But we are still young, not even thirty. Your mother almost made Matteo remarry at the age of 40. I doubt my father is any less different in his political views.”
“Matteo? What happened to ‘Signore Vega?’” Hugo teased.
“I use Italian for business, mon loup.”
“Well that’s an idea.”
They settled in for the drive to the estate, Damien ceaselessly fiddling with the tears and crumpled lines of Hugo’s ruined dress shirt, placing a few kisses into his hair and temples every now and then. Hugo was ready to fall asleep, too, about fifteen minutes into the silent ride. He roused at the sound of Damien’s seething mumbles.
“I hate seeing you like this, beaten and bloodied, at the hands of a couple of good-for-nothing lowlives. You shouldn’t be doing the dirty work, mon prince.” Damien snaked a hand under Hugo’s chin, lifting so he could give the man a solid kiss. Pulling apart, lips still touching, he breathed. “When you’re with me, I want to lavish you, my darling. I want to spoil you until all the callouses on your body run smooth. I want to feed you every delicacy until you stop trying to remember the names of them all. I want to clothe you in only the finest silks and customized, designer jewelry. I want you to never lift a finger or have a want in your life, mon lapin. Mon lapin doux.”
Damien closed the gap between them once more, hands going down to massage tense, burly muscles. He licked at the seam of Hugo’s lips, asking politely for permission before he slipped a tongue in, stroking what he could as quietly as he could manage. One of Hugo’s hands found its way under Damien’s suit jacket and a breathy moan found its way out past Damien’s lips. It was then he thought to spare a glance at the partition, open. Damien found he couldn’t be bothered to care.
Hugo’s brothers had arrived at the estate first. They were found lounging in the parlor, already cleaned and changed. His second and fourth brothers were chatting quietly about who they thought would win in a fight between the two of them when they stopped, spared a glance toward Damien and his linked hands, and spread a pair of shit-eating grins on their face. It probably didn’t help that Damien’s own shirt was stained with the blood previously on Hugo, or that his lips were kiss-swollen, but that didn’t stop Hugo from releasing Damien’s hand and slinking it around his waist instead, returning said shit-eating grin.
Damien led Hugo up to his room, ushering his man right into the en suite bathroom, and filling up the grandiose tub with water just barely on the side of too hot. He then silently turned to Hugo, gingerly undressing his affection, his lips following his fingers closely.
“What happened to a shower and then dinner?” Hugo laughed, feeling his body preemptively meet Damien’s attentive kisses.
“Let them wait,” he said dismissively, “or better yet, let them start without us. Mother knows you took the brunt of the beating, allow them to think I am simply tending to your wounds. But we are not discreet, lapin, they know exactly what we’re doing.”
Hugo allowed the tender touches, breath only hitching minutely as Damien got to his knees and unbuckled his pants, staying resolute in kissing every place his hands touched. It didn’t go any farther, much to Hugo’s disappointment and relief, he was very worn out from the fight. Damien rose back up with all of Hugo’s clothes in hand and went to toss them into the hamper.
“Hop into the shower, darling. I’ll be in with you momentarily.” Hugo followed suit, turning on the water and using the pressure to passively let the dirt scrub itself away. The sound of tub water coming to a stop followed by a gentle breeze as the glass to the shower slid past him made Hugo finally open his eyes and look up to meet his beloved’s. Damien was fully nude with his hair pulled up, a bar of floral soap in his hand. Instinctively, Hugo’s hands latched gently onto Damien’s hips to anchor himself.
Damien began lathering the soap onto Hugo’s chest, working methodically to clean the man while also avoiding large bruises and tender muscle. He occupied himself by ducking his head down to nip at Hugo’s neck, careful not to get his own hair wet. The bar of soap reached down, cleaning what Damien could reach at this height. It travelled around behind Hugo, meeting his bottom with a playful squeeze before Damien turned him around so he could scrub his back.
After leaning down to wash inner thighs and calves, the soap bar was put away and Damien instructed Hugo to tilt his head back into the spray. Nimble fingers scrubbed at his scalp, followed soon by a shampoo that Hugo explicitly associated with Damien. It was rubbed gently through his hair, Damien taking the extra time to go slow and massage the temples, behind the ears, at his neck. He gave a soapy peck Hugo’s shoulder, kneading the tense muscles of his upper back.
Carefully, Damien tilted Hugo’s head forward into the spray, softly washing away the suds from his hair and then the rest of his body. When Hugo turned around, Damien saw that soft face, eyes weary from a long day. He planted his lips onto heavy eye bags, sealing it all with a gentle kiss on the lips. Shutting the water off, Damien then ushered Hugo into the steaming bath, the warm scent of lavender and perhaps a hint of sandalwood wafted from the tub. Damien entered first, extending a hand to help Hugo step in. They relaxed, Hugo’s back on Damien’s chest.
“What’s with all the special treatment today, amor? I’m almost scared to ask, but did I miss something?” Hugo spoke into the crook of Damien’s neck. Granted, it wasn’t the first time Damien was like this, but Hugo never really knew what set it off.
“I just like pampering you, dear heart. Every time I see a bruise on your perfect skin, a part of me grows livid. No love of mine should ever have to experience even the slightest bit of discomfort, and yet here we are. I do what I can, mon roi.”
“At this rate, you really will spoil me. What will I do if I’m faced with an attacker?” Hugo linked his fingers with Damien’s as they lied on his chest.
The sound of Damien’s poetry flitting through his ears was enough to lull Hugo’s eyes shut. His breathing evened out and elongated, perfectly content on feeling the oils pamper his skin, watching the heat turn Damien’s to a beautiful blush.
“You should know, without an ounce of hesitation, I would do the same thing.”
“I know, lapin, I do. But today, I’m loving you.”

How To Choose The Perfect Engagement Ring
Today purchasing a engagement ring designs for female has now become the status quo of identifying yourself as one who is already taken and ready for marriage but have you ever played with the rock or band on your hand and thought about its history? Since it's not specified in the bible or the oldest documents that give detailed accounts of practices before marriage in time passed.
The popular engagement ring designs for female of the modern age had its beginning as recent as the 19th century and wasn't always a symbol of undying affection, it was more or less the first part payment of the bride price to be paid to the bride's family but handed over and worn by the bride. It was a kind of insurance provided for the woman, in case the prospective partner which was always the man at that time disbands the marriage thereby compromising the woman's virtue and appeal to other men.
Every girl dreams about the perfect engagement and most guys do as well, only they just won’t admit to it. Where is the best place to pop the question, what to wear, the words to say, and most importantly what to present her with!
For the longest time, other than royalty or the famous, people only owned colorless stones. However, over the past few years fancy colored diamonds have been gaining a lot of popularity. As symbols of the earth’s rarest treasures, fancy colors are beginning to dominate the engagement market. People want their soon-to-be wives to know just how special and unique they are. Sending the message with diamonds so rare and beautiful such as a Fancy Vivid Yellow or a Fancy Purplish Pink stone is sure to make her know what she means to you.
One of the stages people reach rather quickly is that finding the perfect diamond ring isn’t as easy as one might think. Since we are in the business, we decided to put together a few tips towards helping you find the perfect ring with a stone to match. There are a few points which are a must when it comes to finding what you are looking for, and keeping your expenses to a minimum.
It’s a Natural Diamond
Diamonds are only forever if they are real. Make sure that the stones you are looking at are NATURAL Fancy Colored diamonds. Artificially colored stones will potentially lose their color and reduce in quality over time. A natural colored diamond on the other hand, will be just as bright and beautiful 100 years from the day it was originally polished. If it’s not natural, it’s not for you!
As a result of their everlasting beauty, some companies stand behind their products and offer a warranty on their goods. Read more about our Natural Diamond Warranty.
Dollars and Cents
Sit down and make a budget before you start looking around. Know just how far you can stretch your wallet or before you know it you will find yourself having to give up on the most gorgeous stones after already having fallen in love with it. Keep in mind that many companies are happy to work with their potential clients with regards to the finances. If what you are looking for is slightly above your budget, contact Leibish's customer support and speak to them about the issue.
Color is the King
When it comes to fancy colored diamonds, the color of the stone is by far the most important characteristic of the 4Cs. Since no two stones are exactly alike, decide first the general direction you want to take. You will see that many different color combinations and color intensities drastically change the appearance of the stone. Choose the color you feel suits you best and start your search there. The goal is to get the best color (according to your personal taste) for your money.
Eye Clean
Understand that you, your friends, and your family are not strolling around with a magnification loupe. It is better and far more cost effective to purchase a stone that appears “clean” to the naked eye. Getting a stone with an excellent clarity grade such as an IF or VVS1 isn’t necessarily worth the price you will be asked to pay. .Princess Cut Solitaire Engagement Ring Diamonds with an IF clarity grade are obviously best, but if that is what you are looking for be sure you don’t mind paying a higher price for the stones. Keep in mind that stones with a VS1 clarity grade and up are also eye clean and more affordable. A VS2 graded stone is usually eye clean and an SI1 and even SI2 clarity can sometimes be found eye clean as well. There is no reason not to look through a number of stones until you find the perfect one.
The appearance of the diamond depends a lot on the location of the imperfections and the type of inclusions found. So be true to yourself and get the best quality stone you can for your money. Carat Size
Think about what sized diamond you are looking for. You won’t have to make the final decision up front, but when it comes time to start looking it helps to minimize the large selection of stones that will be set before you. While keeping your finances in mind, decide whether you would prefer something between 1.00 – 1.50 or 2.50 – 3.00 and it will help save you both time and aggravation down the line.
Due to the rarity of some of the fancy colors, it is often harder to find larger sized stones. Also, depending on which color you prefer, a larger size can be a lot more expensive. Consider speaking with a professional about the size that fits you best. Even though bigger sounds better, if you are a petite girl with thin fingers a very large diamond might look somewhat disproportional.
Diamond Certification
Request to see a diamond certificate when looking at the stones. This will help you confirm the validity of the diamond quality. Most diamond certificates include detailed information about the stones, such as the shape, measurements, weight, color, and more.
To ensure you are making the right choice, consider it a MUST that the stone is certified, and better that it be certified by GIA.
Go to the Professionals
Tumblr media
The vast majority of diamond dealers don’t understand fancy colors. Everything from purchasing, trading, and selling down to the basic 4Cs of diamond quality is different than with colorless stones. Any company with experience must have gone through a learning curve that most often included mistakes here and there in order to get where they are today.
Whether you are looking online or walking into jewelry shops in your area, look for a company that specializes in fancy colors and knows all the facts.
Speak to the same Professionals about the Ring
Designing a fancy colored Princes Cut Diamond Ring is quite different from setting a white stone. As opposed to selecting any ring that looks attractive, crafting the setting of a fancy diamond must be done differently for each individual diamond due to its shape, size, make, build, and the color combinations it can contain.
Jewelry designers will often be able to suggest the shank and setting style that goes best with the diamonds you have. Therefore, get on the phone, talk to the designers, and get to know them. Explain what type of setting most interest you and work together with them to create yourself a dream come true!
Love it!
Selecting the perfect stone and designing the perfect ring is not an easy feat. Don’t make the decision overnight unless you find a deal you just can’t pass up. Rather, take your time and make sure you are getting the diamond ring you have always dreamed of!
If you haven’t decided on the perfect ring, have a look through some jewelry catalogues to help narrow down your decision. You might not find exactly what you were hoping for but it will help you clarify the idea you have in your head.
Don’t Stress
Purchasing a diamond ring is a happy occasion. Selecting the perfect ring should be done with care. Take your time, be relaxed, and keep cool!

How to Spot a Fake Rolex
Rolex is believed by many to be the most esteemed Swiss watchmaker in the world. For more than 100 years, Rolex has set the standard for watchmaking, creating luxury timepieces known for their precision, accuracy, and unmatched quality. Worn by world leaders, athletes, and entertainers alike, Rolex watches have become a symbol of wealth, prestige, and of course, impeccable style. With such star-studded appeal, it’s no wonder Rolex replicas are in high demand. This has created a market for knock-offs, most of which are produced overseas in China and nearby countries. Spotting a fake Rolex was once fairly easy, but as manufacturing techniques have become more sophisticated, it has become increasingly difficult to tell a counterfeit from the real thing. Try as they might, the quality and accuracy of an authentic Rolex simply cannot be reproduced, and although it may be a bit more challenging, there are tricks to distinguishing a real Rolex from a fake. In this article, we’ll determine how to spot a fake Rolex by examining some of the watch brand’s most defining characteristics.
How to Tell if a Rolex is Real
Serial & Model Numbers
One of the simplest methods for verifying the authenticity of a Rolex watch is to examine its serial number and model number. These numbers can be used to determine when the watch was manufactured. Where is the serial number on a Rolex, you may ask? Older Rolex models have a serial number located between the 6:00 lugs, and a model number between the 12:00 lugs. Newer models, on the other hand, have a serial number beneath the watch’s crystal, along the inner bezel at the 6:00 position. When closely inspected, these numbers should feature clean, fine lines that are flawlessly etched into the metal. Engravings with a rough or sandy appearance are clear indicators of a phony Rolex. Additionally, a fake Rolex will have numbers that are cramped together, whereas real Rolex markings and engravings will be adequately spaced.
Date Window
The date window on Rolex watches is aptly named “the Cyclops.” This handy lens helps to magnify the date for easier reading. The Cyclops on an authentic Rolex will magnify the date to 2.5 times its original size, whereas a knockoff may display minimal to no magnification. Turn the watch on its side and try to view the date from a different angle. If it appears to be the same size as when looking at the watch head on, it’s likely a fake. This date window should also be perfectly centered over the date, and should feel like a small bump. These small details are usually giveaways for counterfeit designs.
Movement
Rolex watches are designed with complex, mechanical movements that self-wind with every day wear. Counterfeit Rolexes are generally made with less expensive quartz or battery powered movements. To tell the difference between the two, simply watch the second hand. If it appears to make a “ticking” motion, the watch likely contains a quartz movement. If it propels smoothly and fluidly, it is a mechanical movement. The exception to this rule would be Rolex’s OysterQuartz and QuartzDate models, which were designed with quartz movements. Luckily, these models are exceptionally rare, with less than 20,000 originally produced.
Caseback
The underside of a watch is known as the caseback. Legitimate Rolexes have casebacks that are free of any markings. If your caseback has any stamping, etching, or engraving—it’s not a genuine Rolex. In fact, many fakes will actually include extra detail on the caseback in an attempt to dupe buyers into thinking they’re getting the real deal. Don’t be deceived by these tricks, a clear caseback is a foolproof measure of authenticity.
Winding Crown
Rolex spares no detail when designing their luxury watches, and the winding crown is no exception. The brand’s signature crown logo is on every Rolex winding crown, no matter the model. There should be grooves that you can see and feel, and the mechanism should be all one piece. If these details are absent, and the winding crown is plain, you’ve got an imitation on your hands.
Crown Etching
Around 2002, Rolex began adding another small detail to their watches that has been difficult for counterfeiters to duplicate. If you look closely with a magnifying glass or jewelry loupe, you’ll see Rolex’s tiny trademark crown etched into the watch’s crystal right at the 6 o’clock position. Most counterfeiters don’t attempt to copy this detail, and if they do, it’s often done sloppily. If the etching is large and easily seen by the untrained eye, you’ve got a fake.
Weight

Rolex is known for designing their watches using only the highest quality precious metal and crystal.  These materials are strong and durable, and also much heavier than cheap alternatives. A quick internet search can give you an idea what your watch should weigh. A genuine Rolex will feel solid in the palm of your hand. If your watch feels uncharacteristically lightweight, there’s a good chance it’s an impostor.
Water-tightness
Rolex designs all of its watches to be essentially waterproof. If you doubt the authenticity of your Rolex watch, you can perform a simple water-tightness test at home. First, be sure that the crown is tightly screwed down, then submerge the watch in a cup of water for several seconds. When the watch is removed, it should work without any issues and there should be no moisture inside the dial. Bear in mind that if your watch is in fact fake, an at home test such as this one could potentially damage the timepiece. While the Submariner is the only Rolex model designed for use in deep water, every Rolex watch can withstand everyday activities like a shower or dip in the pool.
Price
The best way to know you’re buying a genuine Rolex is simple—the price tag. If you’re in the market for a Rolex watch, chances are you’ve done a good deal of research and are prepared to pay top dollar. Even the cheapest Rolex model retails for thousands of dollars, so there’s absolutely no reason that any reputable jeweler or watchmaker would sell a real Rolex for less than its worth. Be wary of prices that are too good to be true, or of dealers who seem too eager to sell.
Know Your Seller
When shopping around for Rolex watches, we suggest choosing a seller you trust. To be safe, it’s best to avoid online transactions, especially on sites like Craigslist or eBay. Not only is the seller unknown, but the photos and description they give could be completely different than the actual product. Most of the methods we’ve mentioned for spotting a fake Rolex require that you examine the item in person. Similarly, buying from a pawn shop can be risky. Though they occasionally receive real Rolex models, some stores do nothing to confirm a watch’s authenticity, so it’s left up to you to determine. The best way to be confident in your Rolex purchase is to shop with a trusted seller, like Leo Hamel Fine Jewelers.

Letters to the Editor (October 2, 2018)
Palladium Eagle Sellout and dealer offer upsetting
I’d like to let you know, which I couldn’t at the time of my previous email last week, but the good folks at a dealer that starts with an A and ends with an X notified me today that I could acquire one of the new 2018 palladium proof coins for a price of $3,300 to $3,400!
Imagine that.
I’ve heard of dealers needing to make a profit, but really, this?
This is why the Mint needs to do something to stop all the nonsense for the true collectors and customers we are, and have been. Time and again this continues to happen. To say I’m disgusted is the polite way; you couldn’t print what I really feel.
Name withheld
Coin suggestions raise questions in reader’s mind
In response to a letter from Bill Tuttle, “Three cent piece confusing,” in the Sept. 4 issue, concerning my idea for a three- cent coin, I’d like him to know I found a cool coin from the Philippines that has a hole in it.
The 5 sentimos is about 16.5 mm, perfect for a three-cent coin, so no confusion. It has a line on the edge similar to the euro two-cent coin as well. As for his comments concerning a $2.50 coin over a $2 coin, and a $10 coin with 40 percent silver, I wouldn’t squabble over the $2.50 denomination or the $10, but I want to ask Mr. Tuttle an honest question about each. I work at Wal-mart, and on my break, I sit and watch people checking out thinking about different denominations and how they would be accepted.
Coins and paper money serve two purposes… spending and being given back in change. The first is no issue. The second is a little more sticky. Half dollars don’t get used much. I wouldn’t spend one because you never get them back in change, even though I would gladly accept one. Clerks either buy them for themselves or simply leave them in the drawer and turn them in at the end of their shift.
So my first question concerning the $2.50 denomination: I can easily see them being spent, but how do you envision them being given back in change? I would accept them, but people are very stubborn and afraid of change.
My second question concerning the $10 denomination with 40 percent silver is, don’t you think people would hoard them rather than spend them due to the silver content regardless of how little it may actually be? And if they spent them, would clerks offer to give them back as change? If I see an unusual denomination sitting in the register drawer, I will ask for it in change. Gold dollars, half dollars, even the occasional Ike. I’d be interested in how you see this.
P.S. I finally found a Mnuchin dollar.
Wayne Pearson Union City, Ind.
Fake Morgan dollar weighs much less than genuine
A person I know gave me a coin to look at. It is, or looks like, an 1879 (P) Morgan dollar. It would fetch a grade of about MS62. However, something about it just didn’t look right. The first thing I did was weigh it, and it is well over 5 grams underweight. The second suspicious feature was the lettering, especially on the reverse; the letters are heavier and thicker when compared to an 1880-O Morgan that I have.
The third suspicious item was the surface. Even though the detail was crisp and sharp, the whole coin had a dull look to it, no mint luster as would usually be seen on an MS grade coin, and the entire surface had a grainy appearance when viewed through my loupe.
I am convinced this is a copy of some sort, but it makes me wonder. 1879 is one of the most common dates – why would someone go to such lengths to fake a common date? Or perhaps it was made as a token for a business?
I was curious if you had any information or knew of other examples of this “coin.”
Daryl Conley New Mexico
Editor’s Note: “Chinese counterfeiters are making coins like this 1879 and other common dates because they are probably using a base metal to start with and the profit comes in selling it as silver. It is a good thing you have sharp eyes. Thanks for letting me know.” This is the text of an email response to the Morgan inquiry. Below is another email from several days later.
I took it to a coin and jewelry dealer today, and they determined it was made of nickel, zinc, copper and iron.
Daryl Conley
Design changes will keep rolling along in future
I got to thinking the other day about what our coins will look like in 10 years or in 20 years, and I came up with some predictions. As we all know, Lincoln replaced the Indian Head on the penny in 1909 with the Wheat-ears reverse. That design lasted 50 years, until 1959, when it was replaced with the Lincoln Memorial design, which also lasted 50 years until the Shield design took over in 2010, with the 2009 commemoratives in between.
The point is, my guess is that the Shield design will probably stick around for 50 years as well, until 2059 (if there even is still a penny then). With the dime, I’m sure there will be a design change soon, considering, they’ve stuck with the same design for 72 years now. I’m guessing they’ll keep Roosevelt, but I foresee a change in at least the reverse.
The quarter, on the other hand, we know will have a big change coming up. We know that the America the Beautiful quarter series will be over in 2021; therefore, we know that there will either be a new series or a completely new design for the quarter in 2022.
If they do launch another state quarter series, which I’m sure they will, I propose an Important People series commemorating different important people from each state, such as the Wright Brothers for North Carolina, or Martin Luther King Jr. for D.C. Or perhaps an architectural series, to honor important architecture in each state. For example, the Golden Gate Bridge for California, or the Liberty Bell for Pennsylvania. Another idea for the quarter, the half dollar, or the dollar coin (or possibly all three), would be to do a bimetallic design like the euro. I believe it would attract a lot of new young numismatists, or even adult numismatists, to the hobby who find one in change and think it’s interesting.
While I don’t know much at all about bullion, after reading the article about Goloid in the latest issue of Numismatic News, I couldn’t help but think that the Mint should consider a Goloid or Electrum bullion, just a thought. At this point, there’s no way to know the future of our coin designs, but it’s always fun to think about it.

Shrink half dollar by half to match smaller dollar coins
Currently the mint(s) have been producing Kennedy half dollars only for collectors and selling mainly rolls and bags at a premium.
Even though a few do manage to get out in circulation, there have been very few available for those who do not have the finances to afford a roll or bag for their collections.
This writer thinks there is a reason why the JFKs haven’t circulated as part of our coin and currency system. They are too big!
When the government reduced the size of the dollar coin, they didn’t do the same for the half dollar. Therefore, the half dollar was bigger than the coin twice its value.
Also, the vending industry made no exceptions for depositing a whole 50-cent piece for whatever a machine is vending. Some vending machine companies modified, or made new, machines to accept the smaller dollar.
And the quarter coin became the “workhorse” coin of vendors. The half dollar coin fell into dislike for circulation and became a no-longer-wanted coin, except for collectors.
So, why didn’t the government reduce the size of the half dollar coin when it shrank the dollar? Nobody really knows.
Traditionally, the half dollar has been half the size of the dollar, which was patterned after the Spanish “Dollar” (8 reales).
Certainly the (then) new small dollar broke that “tradition,” and so why couldn’t the government break the “tradition” of producing a smaller half dollar coin, in perhaps a different composition than the copper-nickel “sandwich?”
The modern-day tradition seems to follow the euro, as many countries reform their coins to euro standards, and half a circulating “50-whatever” piece. Why can’t we do the same?
Or, better yet: collectors, release your duplicate Kennedys to circulation. I do when I have some.
It’s fun having to explain to a clerk who has never experienced a half dollar coin before.

TOP 10 des stars joueurs de poker
New Post has been published on http://boulevard69.com/top-10-des-stars-joueurs-de-poker/?Boulevard69
  Kool Shen – Rappeur/Chanteur

Tanzanite Purchasing Tips
It is possible to buy Tanzanite in a myriad of different places and mediums in this age of communication. One of the more recent and possibly most risky of places is the internet. It offers up a virtual cacophony of opportunities to purchase this much revered gemstone but no benchmark as to what is a good buy and what is not. This article endeavors to arm the reader with a working knowledge of what they should be looking for when trying to buy a Tanzanite, either on the internet or in a more traditional setting such as a jewelry store.
When purchasing Tanzanite there are several main factors you need to consider – these are the 4 c's – Color, Clarity, Carat Weight and Cut.
COLOR
Color is the most important of the 4 C's considering Tanzanite quality. It can also be one of the most confusing aspects as you surf the web as so many different sites use different terms / grading systems and it is difficult to effectively compare one with another.
COLOR GRADING SYSTEM
There is only one universally accepted official grading system for colored gems and that is the GIA system (Gemological Institute of America). However, there are numerous trade based systems as you will see when surfing the web. The majority of these are very subjective and vary broadly. One of the terms commonly used (and misused) in the trade is AAA Tanzanite. This is a term used by the miners to denote the very top grade of Tanzanite – the very deeply planned exceptional stones. Only 1% of all Tanzanite is this grade and this very deep color saturation is very hard to come by.
The GIA grade for these stones is bV 6/5 and vB 6/5. As color is such a visual medium I can not give an adequate synopsis of the different color grades in this article but there is a very useful resource on the Lapigems Gem Company website by clicking on the various links under the heading "Tanzanite Education" on Lapigems Gemstone Company website . You will be treated to a multimedia presentation using moving pictures which will give you a very good visual exposure to what to look for in terms of color as well as tone and saturation charts illustrating how the GIA system works with color and what to look for in Terms of how it applies to Tanzanite.
I will now move on to the second most important consideration – clarity.
CLARITY
Clarity is the second most important of the 4 c's considering Tanzanite quality. Clarity simply reiterates to how inclusion-free a gemstone is. Once again, the most universally accepted and most documented system is the GIA system but there are also numerous other trade based systems in use. The basic rule with Tanzanite is that it should be at least eyeclean but preferably loupeclean too. Top stones are loupeclean. Below is a chart showing the GIA clarity grading system.
VVS VS SI1 SI2 I1-3
VVS: This is the top grade in the GIA system. Tanzanite is classed by the GIA as a "Type 1" gem which means it is graded very strictly. Stands for Very very slightly included and whilst most VVS Tanzanites are flawless they can contain minute inclusions which are difficult to see with a loupe (10x magnification) and invisible to the unaided eye. Typical minute inclusions may be very fine needles, tiny hairline feathers, very faint clouds and percussion marks.
VS: This stands for Very Slightly Included and these stones are characterized by minor inclusions which are somewhat easy to see under 10x magnification but usually invisible to the unaided eye. Typical inclusions may be small included crystals, liquid inclusions, fine needles, small feathers
SI1 – SI2: This stands for Slightly Included and these stones are characterized by noticeable inclusions which are similar under 10x magnification. In SI1 they are usually visible and SI2 quite visible to the unaided eye. Typical inclusions are included crystals, large liquid inclusions, feathers, dense clouds.
I1-I2-I3: The lowest grade. Stands for Imperfect. These stones are characterized by inclusions that have a negative effect on either appearance, durability or both. At I1 there is a moderate effect on either factor, I2 a sever effect on either factor and I3 a severe effect on both factors.
In terms of Tanzanite, a top stone must be VVS. Any lesser clarity grade will affect the value downwards and denotes a lower grade stone.
CARAT WEIGHT
Tanzanites exist even in the 100+ carat range but these are rare. Generally stones are in the below 1 – 10 carat range. Carat weight affects the price generally as weight increases stones in the same quality bracket will cost more per carat.
CUT
Although it has the least impact on value of the 4 C's cut is still important. In the market, tanzanites are found in a variety of shapes and cutting styles. Ovals and cushions are the most common, but rounds are also seen, as are other shapes, including emerald cuts, trillions, etc. Cabochon-cut tanzanites are not often seen. Cuts should be proportional – you do not want to pay for a stone with a lot of weight in the pavilion for example when this weight will be invisible in a setting.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
FAKES / SYNTHETICS / IMITATIONS: Tanzanite has never been synthesized, but a number of imitations exist. The most common is blue-violet glass. A synthetic fosterite has also been used as an imitation and is known as Tanzanique in the trade. It has a lower RI than Tanzanite and does not have the same pleochroism so it easily distinguished from the real thing. However, laymen can easily be fooled so always buy from a reputable dealer, preferably a member of the ICA (International Colored Gemstone Association) which has a strict code of ethics.
ENHANCEMENTS: Virtually all gem tanzanite of a blue violet color has been heat-treated to enhance the color. In the rough state most Tanzanite is predominately brown. Heating at 500 to 600 degrees centigrade causes this color to change to blue. This is a permanent and stable change.
LIGHTING: A great deal of Tanzanite marketing makes a big deal of the "red flash" phenomenon of Tanzanite. This is one of the features of the stone and is due to Tanzanite's trichroism. Tanzanite is extremely light sensitive, with incandescent lighting (yellow lighting found in common light bulbs) tending to shift its color to the violet side causing the red and pink flashes to appear within the stone.
WHAT IS BLOCK D TANZANITE ?: Block D Tanzanite is a term commonly used in marketing Tanzanite. Block D simply refers to the area from which material is mined. The Tanzanite mining area has been divided into 4 blocks by the Tanzanian government – Blocks A to D. Traditionally, larger quantities of the best material was found in block D so the term became familiar with the top grade. However, it has become a bit of a marketing ploy recently and is a term misused as it assumes that only block D produces the AAA grade. This is not the case – AAA comes from all blocks, block D has traditionally just produced more of it than the others. It is best to ignore the term as it is simply a marketing ploy and it is largely misused. It is better to use more scientific and official grades like the GIA system than to rely on subjective trade terms.
This article has been tested to cover all the main points that should be taken into account when buying Tanzanite. Undoubtedly there will be others I have missed but if these basic tenets are adhered to and understood, the minefield of Tanzanite purchase should be a safer place.

Things To Look For When Buying Gold Jewellery…
In todays post, we're going to talk about tips for buying gold jewellery so that you know you're getting the best quality available for your budget and not being taken for a ride.
All jewellers should know this stuff so you'll know you're at a professional and transparent jeweller by following these tips...
To see some of our gold jewellery, including, rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings, head over to the main part of our website for our Kirkcaldy store and we will hopefully see you soon.
How to Buy Jewelry Like a Jeweler
"A hallmark—a stamp of karat weight, of metal type, or of a designer’s signature—is easily faked. And always only buy 18-karat gold or platinum.
Anyone can make a stamp that says Pt (for platinum, stamped on white gold), 18k (stamped on 14-karat gold), or JAR (for the great jeweler Joel A. Rosenthal).
This is very, very easy to do. But you never want to accuse anyone of that—this is the sort of accusation that will make you seem naïve rather than sophisticated.
So if it’s platinum, weigh it in your hand. If there’s a similar piece in white gold, ask to hold it, and weigh that one too. The white gold will be lighter, shinier, and usually a little yellower.
As for hallmarks, if it’s a dealer—of Elizabeth Gage, for example—you needn’t worry. But if it’s a one-of-a-kind piece, like an alleged Louis Comfort Tiffany, Fabergé, or Cartier, be on your guard.
Look at the workmanship very, very carefully under a loupe. If you see imperfections or crudeness, if there is not elaborate attention to tiny details, if there are not unnecessary flourishes—in short, if it doesn’t look like the jeweler was showing off—chances are it is not an original. In any case, ask about “proof of provenance.” That expression alone will carry you a long way. Ask to speak to the owner, and then ask him about the history of the piece.
Where did it come from? What is the paper trail? How is he certain it’s original? And of course remind the seller that you will be checking the authenticity with an independent expert.

Now you know a little about the scams that may be performed, here's some information on the different purities between the United States and Europe if you're going on holiday...
How Gold Purity Impacts Value
"Chances are the ring on your finger is marked 18K, 14K, or 10K, with the K standing for karat, the system used to describe the percentage of pure gold an item contains.
The higher the karat number, the higher the percentage of gold in your gold jewelry.
Also, the higher the karat, the more expensive the item.
24K gold is pure gold.
18K gold contains 18 parts gold and 6 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 75% gold.
14K gold contains 14 parts gold and 10 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 58.3% gold.
12K gold contains 12 parts gold and 12 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 50% gold.
10K gold contains 10 parts gold and 14 parts of one or more additional metals, making it 41.7% gold. 10K gold is the minimum karat that can be called "gold" in the United States.
14K is the most commonly sold gold jewelry in the states.
Purchasing jewelry less than 14K won't hold its value as much overtime. The higher the gold content, the more the gold market will influence the item's value.
European gold jewelry is marked with numbers that indicate their percentage of gold. Learn about these hallmarks in case you are buying vintage jewelry or gold jewelry outside the States.
18K gold is marked 750 to indicate 75% gold
14K gold is marked 585 for 58.5%
10K gold is marked 417 for 41.7%"

You will see that, in the UK, there are many pieces of jewellery, no matter what jeweller you go to, that have 9 carat gold.
9 carat gold is 37.5% pure gold in the UK.
Here's a useful video if you prefer visuals to test from the "Howdini" Youtube Channel.
youtube
If you're going further afield, here's a few standards from around the world...
  Tips for buying gold jewellery
"Pure gold is too soft to use it as jewellery. So it is alloyed with a mixture of metals like silver, copper, nickel, and zinc to give it strength and durability.
Carats Fineness (of 1000) Purity (%) Comments 24 999 99.9% Pure gold 24 990 99.0% Minimum allowed for pure gold jewellery. Popular in China 22 916 91.6% Popular in India 21 875 87.5% Popular in Middle East 19.2 800 80.0% Standard in Portugal 18 750 75.0% Standard international caratage 14 585 58.5% 583/58.3% in US
Colour - Gold has many variations. In addition to yellow gold, white gold and rose gold are also popular options. You can also find many two-tone styles, if you prefer a mix of colors.
Combining pure gold with other metals creates a new and diverse colour palette. Mixing in white metals, such as palladium or silver in combination, creates white gold, now the overwhelming choice for wedding bands in the US. The inclusion of copper results in the soft pink complexion of rose gold. And gold can now be created in a spectrum of other colours, such as green, purple and even black."

TOP 10 des stars joueurs de poker
New Post has been published on https://boulevard69.com/top-10-des-stars-joueurs-de-poker/?Boulevard69
  Kool Shen – Rappeur/Chanteur
