Thank you to @dark-scape for inspiring this!! It was super super fun to do, oh my god. Highly recommend, it’s a very fun idea. If anyone’s curious what inspired certain arbitrary items in these moodboards, some were completely random but there was a bit of thought that went into some (ie; Abigail gets the “Beach St.” image since if anyone deserves a fucking vacation, it’s her), so feel free to ask! I think I spent a little too much time on them in some cases lol.

He was not sure why it was he bothered turning up at the academy to recruit, it was not as if the students attending did not know that they could have better prospects outside the forces, if they even wanted to work at all. Still he was polite and gentle as ever as they did come by to put their names down and ask him questions about the process or indeed what they should expect when they were put into action. He was surprised when he had a decent handful of names down but he doubted very much it was because of him speaking to them, gentle and warm as he was, it was much more likely they had been told to do so by a parent. 

Edmund didn’t have the heart to explain that he had no interest in war and was thankful that it was a time of peace again. Really he longed to return to astronomy which was why he was drawing out one of the constellations that he had remembered form his last posting. How the young would miss out in the light pollution of the Capitol! Of course his focus shifted from his paper when he caught sight of someone approaching, carefully putting the sheet down and offering a kind if a little strained smile in greeting to the young... lady! 

She surely was not there to sign up? But why then would she be in the otherwise empty room? He suspected there might have been a prank afoot as women did not join the army, what possible interest could they have in warfare? Still he gave her the benefit of the doubt and decided to treat her as he did any of the other students that had walked in that day. 

“Good afternoon,” he greeted kindly, “am I right in assuming that you are here to enquire about signing up?” Safer to be kind and to make it clear what he was there for in case she had made a mistake? Then again, she might have been doing something very smart if she was genuine. She’d get a uniform, a weapon and an opportunity to climb the ranks and settle herself in for a comfortable early retirement and never have to fire a weapon in her lifetime, if she was lucky! “Major Edmund Hewlett,” he was sure to introduce himself properly.

I recently had the opportunity to buy a cheap "blind box" laptop; essentially you pay a relatively small amount for a refurbished laptop with the guarantee that you'll get at least certain specs -- a minimum hard drive size, minimum processing speed, etc -- but with the understanding that it may be scratch-and-dent or have weird extra features.

Mine recently arrived and uh.

I mean.

They weren't wrong about the appearance being unexpected.

I could have my laptop on...its covered in some Louis Vuitton...but even when it's not turned on, bet I made you look....

There was always a delight in hosting, but there was something that bit more special when someone invited him to an event. It was a local gala, a celebration for some general’s birthday. The food, drink, music and the colours of the dresses and uniforms were a nice respite! He was having a great deal of fun until he heard the shrill voice of his former second coming from another room. His sworn enemy! 

His night ruined and his nervousness peaked, Edmund tried to slip out towards the gardens. However, in his haste he instead turned on his heel and walked straight into the shoulder of a young woman! Oh his night could not get any worse, he immediately reached out to make sure he did not knock her down. 

“Heavens madam! I am so sorry!” He sputtered in a panic, things were just going from bad to worse, “I...” he gestured with his hands towards the exit he was trying to escape through, then caught himself, the poor woman! “I am terribly sorry, how very clumsy of me.”
