There is a way to turn off team chat if you really wanted, but I only know the way on PC. In the pause menu, when you're in a game, click on 'social' and click 'groups'. If you want to mute a certain person, press the icon that looks like a speaker next to their name. If you want to mute the whole team, press the headset icon next to 'team'. If you want to hide the chat, too, it's ctrl+shift+c or type "/hidechat"
