Milo caught a nasty upper respiratory virus, he head felt like it was made of concrete and he was starting to develop a cough.

Gene put him to bed, he worried every time Milo got sick.

Jen made dinner for them all. She wanted Milo to rest and knew he'd try to get in the kitchen to cook. Josh and Gene kept her company while she prepped the food.

Gene went up to bring him dinner and found that he had passed quietly in his sleep. Gene sat with him until the coroner came to pick him up.

They determined he had passed from heart failure exacerbated by a developing case of pneumonia.

They opted for cremation and set Milo up in his Studio with views of the bay.

Milo's passing hit everyone hard but unexpectedly, Josh was distraught. He didn't want to talk about it but Jen had her guesses. Milo and Gene had accepted him into the fold, to them Josh was just one of the kids.

Josh had been the one that helped Gene set up his urn in the studio.

Jen was Josh and Gene's rock through their grief. She made sure they ate, slept and took care of their basic needs.

Gene and Milo had been together for so long Gene had no idea how to move forward without him.

Surprise Pregnancy

As if waking from a long dream for a third time, Wa came to at the edge of the valley at what they had thought was not long after the birth of G’Ra’s child. But something was off. Wa wasn’t where they remembered last standing holding their child for a feeding. Rather they were off between the bushes as if tucked away. 

Alarmed by yet another loss of time and memory, Wa collected themself and attempted to retrace their steps. Wa remembered giving birth to So then helping G’Ra to give birth to Kellan. Wa remembered the ease they were able to offer G’Ra from the knowledge gained after their birthing experience. 

As Wa was regaining consciousness for the third time they recognized the sensations of discomfort, illness and heaviness that had stricken them before giving birth. Looking down Wa saw their belly was large again. Was it all a dream? Did they not give birth already? They were disoriented and struggled to find their way out of the bushes back to the camp site. 

On arrival and to Wa’s surprise and dismay they found G’Ra struggling with the first set of babies. It wasn’t a dream birth did happen! Yet Wa was 3rd trimester pregnant again and without knowledge of the experience. 

Questions filled Wa’s mind. Where were they in the time that seemed to have passed? How much time had passed? Was G’Ra aware of this new pregnancy? Was G’Ra aware of this time lapse and Wa’s disorientation. 

Arriving to their privacy tree, Wa saw G’Ra had been struggling with the infants. Wa chose to put their worrisome thoughts aside and help G’Ra manage with the screaming babies. There was little time to ponder what was happening and much to do to keep bellies full, crops alive and ward off the illness that kept them running to the bushes. 

Getting lost in the routines of life Wa soon gave birth to the mysterious babies. Twins this time. They didn’t resemble G’Ra at all. Wa worried about this. But at the sound of the infants’ cries Wa again forgot their worrisome thoughts and did what needed to be done to ensure theirs and the children’s survival with G’Ra’s help. 

Fearful of the unknown circumstances of their memory loss, Wa asking G’Ra to shroud the babies in leaves and branches so they would not be visible to any threats.

Despite his promises, not much changed with River.

Milo got on him about it again.

He really meant what he said about branching out and trying something new.

River was stubborn as his Aunt but promised in earnest this time.

It was Lola that broke him out of his mourning.

Nicole couldn't make it to the house yet but she called daily to check on Gene.

He thought it was sweet that she made sure he was alright.

After months of check ins she started gently poking about him living life. She thought maybe a new hobby or even an old hobby might help a little. He needed to do something besides mourn, she knew he would always miss her dad, the way she still missed Ken. She missed her dad terribly but she still had one left and wasn't ready for him to crawl in the hole after the other. Gene loved her and knew she meant well but he wasn't quite ready yet.

Milo Downs entered the challenge with the intention of being a minor character. A friend of Bella's and complication for Jimmy and Rita.

That's not how it worked out. Gene had an almost instant crush on him.

Milo and Gene ended up becoming two of my favorite Sims.

He is the biological father of Nicole Chavez. A doting father with the childish trait, he loved nothing more than spending time with Nicole, Tiffany and Jennifer.

Milo and Gene married in Bella's backyard. Afterwards lived together in the attic apartment of Gene's parents house.

Milo was a self-employed painter by trade for much of his life. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, wellness activities, athletic activities and of course painting. Once the girls were grown he joined the painting career which he maxed.

Spending time with Nicole was his favorite. She remained a frequent visitor even after she moved out because he would get sad he hadn't seen his child.

Rita was initially supposed to stay with them for longer. Unfortunately her romantic trait was overpowering, she hit on Milo a lot. By the time she left, her relationship with everyone was in the red, except Jen who was still a toddler.

They did finally get their big wedding. It ended up being the most glitched wedding I've ever tried to have in game.

Milo had a many friends, he was well liked, but Bella was his best friend. They maintained a maxed friendship up until she died.

After some conversation with their grandpas, it was decided they should move their parents to Henford with the rest of the family, they decided to have Lola interred there too.

There was a small service in the chapel.

Gene was a bit uncomfortable, the last time he was here was to bury his brother. It's part of why they didn't want to be buried there.

After the service they walked out to see the family plot.

There was a lot of conversation about the family and Servo surprised them with the revelation about the basement museum.

Gene and Milo shared a lot of the family stories with them. Where the family came from, how they ended up in Wrightburg.

After story time in the cemetery, they went to the same old restaurant that had been there for centuries. It was the oldest restaurant in Henford.

They talked and enjoyed the food.

River and Servo surprised everyone by exchanging vows in front of the family after dinner.

Agnes was not amused by the declaration of love disturbing her dinner. This time it was three against one.

Back home in San Sequoia Melody continued her career as an author. She continued her love of the arts. She never married and spent her later years traveling.

River continued his career in Robotic Engineering with a secret hope of finding a way to safely transfer Servo into a better vessel. Servo, lived happily with her husband, she continued to learn and eventually picked up gem cutting as a creative outlet.

Authors note: they do have their picture in the museum but it ended up much more morbid than intended. I decided to end the challenge once all challenge goals were complete rather than playing through until River's death. We leave him as a 30 something professional with his sentient robot spouse living their best life.

Servo found a room in basement that was hidden from normal view.

It was filled with paintings, photos and heirlooms from all the generations of River's family.

All the stories and and faces had brought River and Melody to where they were today. Servo wondered if her face would grace these walls as well.

It was like the museums they went to in Willow Creek.

But what grabbed her attention the most were paintings of places she'd never seen and likely never would. Those places no longer existed, time had marched through.
