How can I put this without seeming like an ungrateful ignoramus. I'll just tell you the truth. Many were indeed grateful for the buyout "offer"... But the offer was for 2007 rateable valuations (RV's) but these were never intended as market valuations (as stated on QV's website at the time). We paid $68K above GV and were "threatened" with loss of services, uninsurability etc. if we stayed. We felt bullied to accept the “offer”. In the end SR agreed we were a rebuild and at the 11th hour, over 3 years after the Feb 2011 quakes we were finally paid out and able to continue with our lives. If we had accepted the govt. "offer" we would instead now be living in a house-bus somewhere.
