I gotta stop raising animals from babyhood man I get too emotional seeing them get big . I’ve been cooing over Whisk all morning because she’s so big now and so fuzzy she used to be so small size of my fingernail and now she’s BIGGER than quarter-sized and she’s STILL got so much growing to do (she’ll eventually be about the size of my palm) and ohhhh ohh my sweet baby. My darling thing. My everything
#I had this same thing with zot (gecko) as he got bigger#like ohhh my sweet boy you used to fit in the palm of my hand and now you’re so big and chunky and big. Brilliant gorgeous spectacular wonderful girl! Oh my splendid beast! Oh all the beauty and awe and love!!!!
#For context. Whisk disappeared underground for several weeks.#I counted: She was down there for 5 weeks. So over a month.#Until a week ago she refused to eat in this time. Anything I offered would go totally untouched.#I figured she went down to molt so I wasn’t too worried for the first two weeks… but then got a liiiiittle worried as the weeks went on#Especially since she blocked off my viewing window into her burrow. So I couldn’t see her at all.#3 weeks in I saw her burrow had been modified a bit so I knew she was alive. And she did modify her burrow#a few more times in the coming weeks. But I never saw her come up#she finally ate last week and that made me happy. But just this afternoon LOOK who decided to SHOW UP!!#Spiders#spider#arachnophobia#She’s much bigger now than when she went down. Most definitely molted. She’s about the size of a quarter now.#And I am so deeply happy about it . I am taking this as a good omen. Zote has taken to perching RIGHT on top of the spot I place his food. Lying in wait for me to come by and try and feed him again just so he can have one more go at my fingers.

so we had to give my cat a bath because she stank real bad, but since we rarely ever give her baths she's not used to it . so we put her in the bath expecting her to freak out and go crazy ... and she did ! But like. In that sense that .She just sat down and yowled in place for a bit, then eventually gave up the yowling and just sat there staring pitifully like this for the whole endeavor
(and then after she was done, and the water began to drain, she still just sat there like this while we tried to coax her to jump out)
#like she was extremely vocal about her disdain at first. but made very little escape attempts#there were two or three times in which she reached for the edge of the bath but she was easily dissuaded#just so she could sit back down and wail again#until eventually all wailing stopped. and she just sat there. and stared with her massive wide eyes.#having the worst experience of her Entire Life#clamtalk#clamart#housecreatures

gave cat bath today she was so miserable and pathetic about it. at one point she fell in the bath (water very shallow) (not enough to be a problem) and instead of getting up she just laid there on her side wailing like her life was ending

Had the worst jumpscare over nothing this morning.
So context. Yesterday I moved Whisk (my small baby tarantula, only a few months old) into a new enclosure. She was getting too big for the vial I'd been keeping her in so it was time for an upgrade. I got her in okay, she meandered about for a while and then started on a burrow, wonderful, flawless, amazing.
So this morning. I wake up. I hear my cat meowing as usual. I turn my head to look at her as she currently sits on the floor beside my bed. And then I see. In the corner of my vision. A spider. A spider the same size. And general color. as Whisk. Wandering around. On the floor.
Immediately I am in pure dread. I'm thinking Oh my god how did she escape?! How did Ice (cat) not kill her already?! and I throw off my blanket to jump down and catch her before my cat does, fully prepared to scoop her up in my hands if I had to, only to realize.
oh. That's not Whisk.
That is . Just a M. simoni. Invasive spider. I've caught multiple of these before. This is the second one I've caught in my room. Oh. ok.
I get up. I wander over to Whisk's enclosure. She's just chilling in her burrow. I freaked out for nothing.
And that's how my day started . 👍good morning everyone

accidentally interrupted Whisk post-molt I need to be tossed into the sky
#so like. Ok.#I was gone for about a week. When I came back I found a molt in Whisk's vial so I thought she molted.#Moved her to new enclosure and she made a burrow beneath a leaf. For a few days she didn't come up to eat.#I got a bit worried so I gently lifted the leaf. Saw her chilling. Adjusted the leaf thinking maybe she was somehow stuck under it#thinking to myself ''huh she looks weirdly light-colored.'' only to see the molted carapace right behind her#and immediately went OH SHIT and quickly put the leaf back. she's still hardening after a molt and i PEEKED on her#i saw her NAKEY#so i guess that molt i found when i came back was an old one??? because it'd be way too soon for her to molt again#would explain why she was acting so lethargic when i moved her too. she was in premolt. and i'm an idiot#wellp. She should be fine even if I peeked on her. She was already totally out of the molt and I didn't like.
