LOL I can imagine for vampire au Lando starting to third wheel Carcar and so even though turning Franco is a complete accident he can’t feel too guilty bc he uses it as an excuse to hang around someone else, and somehow he learns more about vampirism lore through a human grad student than he’s learned in his whole life (he’s lived a long time, lots of info to absorb). Then also, if you don’t mind my ask, what do they all do for jobs/how do they get money and would Franco keep studying ?
HELP this is so cute. ok. norpinto-frando vampire au for those who aren't up to speed...
Lando starting to third wheel Carcar and so even though turning Franco is a complete accident, [Lando] can’t feel too guilty bc he uses it as an excuse to hang around someone else -> screaming cus, absolutely. random associated headcanons for this... i'll rewind a bit:
carlos is the oldest vampire, like, moorish/medieval era. he met lando while they were both at a masquerade ball in the early 1600s and smelled each other right away (carlos like wood and ink, lando like gas lamps and wet stone).
lando is an tudor era vampire. like he actually knew shakespeare and said he was one of the best viral marketers of the era
oscar was turned in the early days of the australian penal colony, he's like first or second generation white australian but he refuses to be called british. he moved in to the house because the rent was cheap and he doesn't feel the need to live extravagantly -- even though he, too, is $$ loaded $$
oscar didn't move in until about two decades ago - very short by vampire standards, to them it feels like yesterday - but carlos and oscar are basically They Were Roommates atp even though they squabble con-stant-ly
their neighbours think they are a new age-y polyam group but because the people who live opposite them are students, nobody ever hangs around longer than a year to remember them or dig deeper
so franco definitely brings a fun funky fresh dynamic
he learns more about vampirism lore through a human grad student than he’s learned in his whole life (he’s lived a long time, lots of info to absorb) -> things that baby vamp!franco teaches lando include
tiktok trends, like how to make ur teeth comically large in photos. lando finds this hilarious
how to use venmo
creating a roster on google docs for who needs to do what house chores
jailbreaking an apple watch so it doesn't read their pulses (they don't have any), but it will remind them of the moon phases and when they might be extra hungry to feed
at one point franco actually puts his academic skills to use and helps lando hunt down some of his family tree, because since lando was turned and it's been so long, he doesn't remember much about them : ( so one of franco's little gifts to lando is helping him trace his heritage
what do they all do for jobs/how do they get money and would Franco keep studying ? -> i love how practical-minded you are. um well let's say this fictional supernatural creatures' market mostly runs on barter trades and goodwill agreements. the entire house sometimes just gets lazy tbh so lando or carlos will just dig into one of the old chests of random shit and pull out an antique and go: "do we think this is worth anything?" then they take it to an antiques dealer who is also a mage (alex albon) and there is a 1 in 25 chance that the antique is actually is worth something, so that bankrolls them for another half a year or whatever.
carlos makes a lot of noise about being "an art dealer" just because he sold a goya painting to a museum once.
oscar is a man of industry, of the "newer" world (australia) etc etc so he spent the 80s and 90s learning C++ and Java and Python so he legit just codes for a living. or when he feels like it. oscar has helped launch at least a dozen startups under various pseudonyms and one of them is even a blue chip company by now. he doesn't do it for money tho. he just does it cus he likes a challenge, and otherwise fights with carlos too much. when he isn't coding he likes to tinker and fix things just for fun. like, he legit knows how to fix a boiler and stuff. his familiar is definitely a grumpy orange neighbourhood cat.
franco keeps studying!! he is such a nerd that he's like "i can totally learn everything about anything now, and i could in theory do like 20 masters degrees, and nobody can stop me"!! then lando is like, "well you might get bored of it after a while or burn out". but franco insists he will not. in fact with his enhanced neurological abilities he goes on an academic bender trying to fast forward through an entire harvard's undergrad degree's worth of material in a week, and he ends up faceplanting on his desk. and then poor lando has to go and find a fresh chicken or something to kill and revive franco 'cus franco wore himself out too fast being a bb vampire with accelerated mind powers.
franco promises never to do that again (but of course he will continue to do it once in a while, and everyone still looks after him in his lil study hangovers because he is so very nice. also he taught them how to use venmo.)
and. one time. franco is like. "i can't find this rare sonnet do you know what library i could maybe locate it in" and lando is like "wait i know that one" and pulls out an honest to god original copy that he at some point got laminated in the early 80s. and franco is like. "um i think this should be in a museum??" and lando is like "yeah but i gave them a copy of this, cus i spilled ink on the corner of this in 1603 after a really good night out" and franco is like "???? ok ????"
then lando swans off to moodily stare at the moon or some shit.

what you think the nordics learn at uni or college?
Well, nation-verse or human AU? If they're still nations I think most nations have several degrees they go back to update from time to time and I think I've mentioned what I hc their educations to be in Human AUs before, but since I can't find the post at the moment I imagine they would go with something like...
Norway: Lawyer, focused on economic crimes and dealing with big companies. In the future he will be scarily good and because of this very expensive to hire, but every 10-15th case or so he's taking on what more or less is a charity case to help someone out who otherwise wouldn't be able to pay for a good lawyer and is about to get screwed over by a big company. Norway is scarily good at what he does, and he'll win his cases 99% of the time as long as his clients listen to his instructions. (For the last 1%, well, he can't cure stupid).
It's either that or he would be crazy good at reading the stock market, making moves no ones expect and turn them into his own advantage. Some call it luck, but Norway just knows what signs to look for and has a strict code of business he follows for himself.
Denmark: Electrician. Idk what the education looks like in other countries, but over here the +2 years education to electrician isn't exactly uni or college, but kind of like... Something else. A mix between apprenticeship and reading theory. I think this would suit Denmark better than traditional university education, because though he's really smart he just doesn't have the attention span and peace to sit down and study 8-10 hours/day like you might have to do for some of the university degrees out there.
Sweden: I originally really liked him as a kindergarten teacher, which would be university education, but considering how tall I hc him to be... The job would absolutely kill his back. I also hc him as blind, so he'd probably suit better as teacher for slightly older children (think 6-12y olds maybe, or older) or the teacher running the after-school program. Depending on how serious I make his back-pain in the AU, I sometimes also let him be home on disability and/or with a part-time job. (In at least 2 AUs I have Sweden employed part-time by China to do general maintenance on the house China is landlord for and/or call in the people who need to be hired to fix The Problem in question).
Iceland: I have a hard time imagining him in uni since we always see him so young-looking, but I can absolutely see him work with/studying Geothermal power and sustainable energy in general.
Finland: Former military who I think either became a chimney sweeper or a plumber. He's not afraid of getting his hands dirty and wants something more physical to make use of his restless energy. I can also see him re-educate himself to some sort of forest ranger or nature guide in the future, because he would absolutely love to spend all day outdoors as well.
I have no idea what I would put for Sealand on this, but Ladonia will probably grow up to get an university degree in programming (I'm thinking Java, C+ and a personal interest in Python) and a minor in (human) language(s). 😊 Haven't decided if I think Ladonia would be more interested in programming machines/computers from scratch or more into game developing though, but he still has a few more years to figure that out. 😉

Liveblogging notes on ep 6.
Thank god we get to come out of this trough of angst.
Two notes about the setup from last time. One, why kidnapping vs murder attempt? This is a new tactic. Two, does Kinn know that his family track everywhere he goes?
It is SO weird seeing these characters out in the woods. Aw Big, don't blame yourself, there are more important people around to blame. (Side-eyes in spoiler.)
City boys, ffs. Do neither of you know anything? First rule of being lost is stay where you are.
Kinn this is not a situation in which pulling rank is going to work.
This episode might actually kill me. How are you both like this.
You won't die of thirst, but do they not have giardia in Thailand?
One day down.
Porsche doing that little foot wiggle he did at the pier. He is too cute for words sometimes.
Having Pete and Pol watching Vegas is like feeding a live bunny to a python, Chan wtf were you THINKING.
So Porsche does know some things. And Kinn's competitive streak is not actually permanently switched on, whew.
I'm enjoying the survival lessons and general cuteness and so on, but wow these woods are full of elephants. (Not because of the locale.) And they're gonna kiss it out instead of talking? Oh that is interesting, how Kinn yanks himself back from it. Did we maybe learn something.
Night two. That is, honestly, a long fucking time to be lost anywhere.
Ah, there is talking. Only took two entire days. Kinn again taking point on asking questions. Porsche's dream job is full of freedoms to do as he likes. And cut to Kinn's ring when it's his turn to talk. Nope, no dreams for you. Thank you, Porsche, for not falling for that line of bullshit.
It is not lost on me that in order for them to get past the hideous emotional tangle they got into last episode and communicate honestly, they had to get away from that fucking house. [Note to self, look for fics where the place is just cursed.]
This answers a question that has been on my mind since Khun's introduction, about how old Kinn was when that went down: plenty old enough to know what was going on. Ouch.
OMG so hesitant and shy. I'm intrigued by the music theme running through so many of the characters. This is so sad though?
None of those kids ever had a chance. Khun's too traumatized to function. Kinn only thinks he's better off because he can fake it really well. Even though Kim theoretically has his own life, he's paranoid. (What was their mom like? What happened to her?)
Apology tendered? Kind of weirdly but sincere? I like that we can see Porsche think about it for a couple of seconds before he accepts. Sleepy snuggle? Always with the crane shots for them.
Did you two just get killed? [AU where the show actually ended here, the rest was afterlife.] Hmm this looks bad.
Yes, Porsche, he is crazy. Guy spends every minute of every day hating everything?
Oh wow, another, explicit apology? Explicit forgiveness?! We are watching real-time character growth happening. I honestly did not think they were going to talk through it head-on like this, my heart can't take it. Porsche seems a little uncertain about the "no doubts" thing.
Well that got weird again real fast (and then a reminder: crazy). Show certainly does keep you on your toes.
Three days. Interesting.
Porsche looks like he's going to cry? Have to get that "if you love something set it free" moment in here, huh. Very Beauty and the Beast of them.
Kinn's little full-body jolt of surprise when Porsche kisses him. :( So much desperation.
I was kind of wondering if something like this was going to happen. Good thing Porsche didn't have time to get very far away. Looks like all the gun practice has paid off, just look at that form.
Oh no Kinn got shot. But they are rescued (other than the whole "trapped in hell" aspect), things have gotten sorted out a little bit between them, and we've finally learned a some things about what makes Kinn tick.

Hello! I am new to Minti and learning about her after reading Driftward's fics. Does she end up getting together with Zero, or have I misread the magic kiss post's tone?
Tumblr media
(Endwalker spoilers ahead! CW: Talk about consent, mental health.)
So! You've decided to start reading my blog. Thank you, hello, I apologize for the mess and lore confusion. I am a WoW refugee, now mostly permanent XIV player.
In the three years I've played XIV (off and on), this character has gone from having no lore to "Possible cryptid/reincarnated concept or a really traumatized Rava viera from Ivalice, we're making things up as we go." There are WoL Minti and Adventurer Minti versions, depending on whether I'm writing something to fit a friend's story.
Let's talk about Minti, then about Minti and Zero specifically.
"You can't expect to wield supreme power just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you!" - Monty Python
Minti is an adult Rava Viera, regardless of whether she's WoL or Adventurer. She's lived long enough to go into exile close to the Garlean invasion of Dalmasca, receive various job crystals and training in Kugane and Eorzea, and ultimately join Gage Acquisitions as a hirable adventurer. She's also been the ward of one Lady Sabbatine Treleaux, former head of House Treleaux, now deceased and possibly haunting/part of a Dark Knight crystal.
In game, we see that Meteor has very different interactions/experiences with job crystals, ranging from unleashing his Inner Beast to the saga that is the Dark Knight storyline. Depending on how many jobs he runs, IC'ly he's a slow cooker full of spirits, emotions, a voidsent he's made a contract with, and whatever is going on with Sage, I haven't done that yet. Our hero is experiencing a lot.
Something similar can be said for Minti, although I organize her job crystal interactions into a choir analogy. Think Riva, the alien negotiator from Star Trek: Next Generation, in "Loud as a Whisper." I promise this is leading towards the answer, I just need to provide some background and explanations.
Minti's "Choir":
Lead Soprano: Samurai/Dancer
Understudy Soprano: Gunbreaker
Sopranos: Summoner, Machinist
Lead Alto: Reaper (filled position left by former lead alto, Dark Knight). Minti's voidsent is called Altoprima. Also known as Signora, the "Bella Voce" of Troia.
Alto: Dark Knight (stepped down from position as lead alto).
Background singers: Other jobs as the story calls for, although Sage or White Mage might be making an appearance once I get crafting to a point I'm good with.
I try to distinguish when these voices are "speaking" by using Tumblr's fonts. I'm not going to say which font represents which voice, to save some bits of mystery.
-----
Tumblr media
Zero. Oh boy, Zero.
So, as we discover during the MSQ of Endwalker - and the patches leading up to confronting Golbez - Zero was Lord Zenos's voidsent. He was a reaper. Reapers make contracts with voidsent, who have a symbiotic relationship with each other: we get cool void powers, they get yummy yummy souls to feast on.
Zero remarks on at least one occasion on how Zenos thought about us, as a "friend." Depending on how you write it, and how much you think Zenos knows the Meteor/the WoL, they are privy to a *lot* of information about us.
So, when Minti meets Zero for the first time, whether it's in Radz-at-Han or on the Thirteenth, she's unnerved by them. They're this being who was bound to someone who had a very, very bad relationship with her. Zero is a Lord of their Domain, and they're very good at being a reaper and Memoriate. In the story I wrote, they're not the "Becoming Human" Zero we get later on. At the time of the encounter, they've made it to the Source, they're turning apples into Essence of Apple, etc.
-----
"Minti, you're taking too long."
Right, sorry.
So for the prompt, I chose Magic Kiss, interpreting it as "Demon Makes A Contract Through A Kiss With A Mortal." I was also playing out the scenario in my head as I was writing it, which hopefully explains why it wasn't neatly written out, like some of my other work.
Minti was scared by Zero doing a perfectly imitation of this Au Ra they'd seen in Radz-at-Han. In the moment, it reminded her of facing off against Zenos, and just being within earshot of the man. She didn't know what Zero intended to do to her, but she was not going to let it continue.
As the writer, I prefer not to put my characters in situations that stress me out or mirror similar situations I've experienced in my life. I get that people are free to write whatever they wish, it's their imaginations, there's really dark writing out there, etc., but I don't want to get into territory that makes me uncomfortable. (That's the theme of 2023 for me, Comfort.)
So yes, while there is a Magic Kiss, it's meant to be a Contract in the same vein as the ones Zero does/talks about in the MSQ. It's not intended to be sexual, and comes after a night's worth of discussion, summarized here: "You made me feel very scared, let's talk, and see if there's a way to acknowledge this happened and look for ways to not repeat this in the future. We're working together, and you're a voidsent who is learning how to Be Human. All that said, it doesn't excuse you from what happened." Prospects of a Zero X Minti ship are very low, at the moment. I know they're a fun character, and there are active ships, but that's how things played out on the ask.
I hope this clears things up, even a little. If you're looking for a comfy kiss response, I did one for Krile Baldesion and Minti!

Castio Ingellvar
Tumblr media
1: Where in Thedas is your Rook from? His parents are from Nevarra City. I didn't think too hard about his life pre-Mourn Watch so it's random.
2: What is your character's alignment? Chaotic neutral. Cas does things for the greater good, but it's a bit fast and loose.
3: Race and subclass? Human mage.
4: If your Rook was a companion, where would they be found? The music room, and he'd be humming all the time.
5: What emotion did they usually pick? Mostly the cheery and polite icons.
6: What companion are you platonically close with? Taash, unexpectedly. But he gets on with everyone.
7: Romantically close with? Emmrich.
8: Who are they suspicious of? He liked Lucanis, but is low-key scared of him.
9: Does your Rook get along with their chosen Faction? Yes! He adores the Watchers and is one to his core.
10: Are they proficient in playing any instruments? No, but he is a very amateur opera singer.
11: Weapon of choice? Mageknife and necrotic damage.
12: What is their orientation? Asexual biromantic.
13: What are their thoughts on killing? Is it a necessary evil or do they enjoy it? He's just trying to survive, if he can avoid it, he would like to, but times are tough.
14: What hobbies does your Rook have? Music, reading, theatre. He loves a good debate, he's probably part of the Lighthouse book club.
15: What NPCs do they like? Which one's do they dislike? He loves Vorgoth and Manfred, but who doesn't? I think he gets along with Strife well, and Antoine (Evka scared him but he respects her) but he and Tarquin despise each other.
16: Do they have a favorite creature in the Thedas? Assan counts, right? Otherwise he's a snake boy in every universe I write him into. Snakes all the time.
17: Do they enjoy life as an adventurer? I think he likes to revisit the Necropolis a lot, but yes, he loves exploring and learning.
18: What would your Rook be doing if they weren't recruited by Varric? The Thedas equivalent of a paranormal investigator, or amateur theatre.
19: How do you think they'll meet their end? Are you kidding? He's gunning for lichdom.
20: Would they side with Solas or fight him? He'd rather do neither, but if he can't talk Solas around, he'd fight.
21: What is your Rook's favorite ability? Corrupted Ground.
22: What languages is your character fluent in? Just the common tongue.
23: What do they do after an absolute crisis? Decompress alone, with his nose in a book, after checking in on everyone.
24: Does your character believe in the afterlife? In the sense of the wisps and the Fade being a sort of life beyond death, yeah. For himself? No, lichdom!
25: What specialization best represents your Rook? I obviously went down the Mourn Watch specialisation. The character has always been a necromancer, I originally played him in D&D 5e.
26: What animal best represents your Rook? A snake. His favourites are hognoses but he's a ball python.
27: What was their life like before the events of Veilguard? Quite simple, I think he was hiding in Minrathous, probably taking odd jobs ridding homes of spirits for a fair price.
28: Is your character the de facto leader of the party? Or do they consider someone else to be the leader? He didn't want to lead, but he took to it well enough. He considers them all to lead in their area of expertise, though.
29: If you could choose a different faction for your Rook, which one would they have joined and why? Hmm, that's actually a good question. Probably the Shadow Dragons? They have good morals and he was already hanging about in Minrathous!
30: What's your favorite thing about your Rook? Cas is a character I've had for a long time now. In-game I love how his Ult looks, the mage combat flows so prettily. In a meta sense, this character creator is the closest I've ever managed to making Castio 3d, so I love that.
Zinc Laidir
Tumblr media
1: Where in the Thedas is your Rook from? There's a brief conversation with Taash where he mentioned being a Tevinter galley slave, so I think Zinc is a city elf from Seheron.
2: What is your character's alignment? The same as a labrador puppy.
3: Race and subclass? Elf warrior.
4: If your Rook was a companion, where would they be found? He'd move location every time, this man is hyper.
5: What emotion did they usually pick? Mostly the cheery/jokey one, but whenever there's a chance for the sad one, I went with that. Emotional boy.
6: What companion are you platonically close with? Taash, Harding and Davrin. He and Taash had trans solidarity, Harding is his bestie, and he and Davrin arm wrestle on the regular.
7: Romantically close with? The queen herself, Neve. But poor Bellara tried.
8: Who are they suspicious of? He's not too sure how to take Emmrich. He likes him, and he respects his magic, but worries about being told off, Emmrich is very Dad to him.
9: Does your Rook get along with their chosen Faction? Yes and no. Isabella finds him frustrating, I think she was probably waiting for a chance to get him gone. They're like siblings who get along better with space between visits.
10: Are they proficient in playing any instruments? Ohhhh yes. Zinc is a musician in his original conception, so he definitely plays the Elven guitar in his chamber.
11: Weapon of choice? Warhammer, specifically the brute hammer.
12: What is their orientation? Queer. Zinc has no labels, doesn't want them, doesn't care. He's a trans guy who likes hot people. You could call him pansexual but he wouldn't call himself that.
13: What are their thoughts on killing? Is it a necessary evil or do they enjoy it? Avoid as much as possible.
14: What hobbies does your Rook have? Music, but probably also card games, casual gambling stuff with the other Lords and the companions.
15: What NPCs do they like? Which one's do they dislike? I think he and Rana get chatty, and I bet he's flirted with Theia. He doesn't dislike anyone, but he did punch the First Warden. So yeah.
16: Do they have a favorite creature in the Thedas? He'd have a pet nug if he could, but he's also pet every damn dog and cat in Dock Town.
17: Do they enjoy life as an adventurer? Of course! For gold and glory!
18: What would your Rook be doing if they weren't recruited by Varric? Bothering Isabella more.
19: How do you think they'll meet their end? Doing something stupid.
20: Would they side with Solas or fight him? Fight.
21: What is your Rook's favorite ability? For Gold and Glory (I swear it's called that, the big leaping hammer smash).
22: What languages is your character fluent in? Elven, common.
23: What do they do after an absolute crisis? When the adrenaline leaves, he cries. Zinc cries a lot.
24: Does your character believe in the afterlife? Nah, but he's okay with that. Again, he knows the Fad exists, he knows spirits exist, but he thinks they have no memory of their life, so there's not really a knowable beyond for living beings.
25: What specialization best represents your Rook? I went with Slayer, because Lords of Fortune, but none of the others suited.
26: What animal best represents your Rook? A friendly puppy, or a speedy hare or something.
27: What was their life like before the events of Veilguard? A bit chaotic, but also simple. He listened to Isabella and did as he was told.
28: Is your character the de facto leader of the party? Or do they consider someone else to be the leader? He is, but in a more... Glue way. He's keeping everyone together and happy and sane as best he can.
29: If you could choose a different faction for your Rook, which one would they have joined and why? Maybe the Wardens. He wouldn't read the fine print about the Calling and how much being a Warden sucks, he'd just sign up to be a hero.
30: What's your favorite thing about your Rook? He's the mascot for this account, but make him a little elf. :3 Also doing all the silly dialogue options feels appropriate, which makes it fun.
Rook Questionnaire
inspired by @cassieuncaged's BG3 Character Development Questions but for Rook instead!
1: Where in the Thedas is your Rook from?
2: What is your character's alignment?
3: Race and subclass?
4: If your Rook was a companion, where would they be found?
5: What emotion did they usually pick?
6: What companion are you platonically close with?
7: Romantically close with?
8: Who are they suspicious of?
9: Does your Rook get along with their chosen Faction?
10: Are they proficient in playing any instruments?
11: Weapon of choice?
12: What is their orientation?
13: What are their thoughts on killing? Is it a necessary evil or do they enjoy it?
14: What hobbies does your Rook have?
15: What NPCs do they like? Which one's do they dislike?
16: Do they have a favorite creature in the Thedas?
17: Do they enjoy life as an adventurer?
18: What would your Rook be doing if they weren't recruited by Varric?
19: How do you think they'll meet their end?
20: Would they side with Solas or fight him?
21: What is your Rook's favorite ability?
22: What languages is your character fluent in?
23: What do they do after an absolute crisis?
24: Does your character believe in the afterlife?
25: What specialization best represents your Rook?
26: What animal best represents your Rook?
27: What was their life like before the events of Veilguard?
28: Is your character the de facto leader of the party? Or do they consider someone else to be the leader?
29: If you could choose a different faction for your Rook, which one would they have joined and why?
30: What's your favorite thing about your Rook?

Find the Best C++ Course Online with Certification and Easy to Follow Lessons
Tumblr media
If you want to learn computer programming from the very beginning, then doing a C++ programming course can be a really good step. C++ is one of those programming languages that has been around for a long time and is still used in many areas like making computer software, designing games, and even building robots.
In this blog, you will get to know everything in detail about the C++ course — why it is useful, what topics you will study in it, what job options are available after learning it, and how you can begin learning it using the right tools and support.
What is a C++ Programming Course?
A C++ programming course is a learning program that helps you understand how to create computer programs using the C++ language. It is specially made for those who are new to programming or those who already know a little and want to learn more.
In this course, you will be taught how to write simple codes, find solutions to programming problems, and understand the basic ideas of how object-based programming works — which is a way of building programs by using small blocks called “objects.”
Why should you learn C++ in 2025?
Choosing to learn C++ in 2025 is a really good idea for several simple reasons. C++ is still used a lot by many companies. Big companies pick C++ when they want to make software that works quickly and does not break easily. If you want a job in IT, making software, or even working with artificial intelligence, knowing C++ will help you stand out. Also, C++ is the starting point for many other programming languages. After you learn C++, it becomes much simpler to pick up other languages like Java or Python.
Who can join a C++ Programming Course?
If you like computers or want to learn about technology, you can join a C++ programming course. You do not need to be a computer expert or have any special background. Many students take a C++ course after finishing class 12 because it helps them start learning programming early. People who already have jobs but want to learn new things or change their career can also join a C++ course.
If you are a student, you can find C++ courses made just for students, so learning is easy for you. There are also many good C++ courses online in 2025 for all levels, whether you are just starting or already know some programming.
What Will You Learn in a C++ Course? (Syllabus Overview)
When you join a C++ course made for beginners, you will learn all the main things that help you start coding easily. Here’s what is usually taught in such a course:
A simple explanation of what C++ is and where it came from
How to install and start using the C++ software on your computer
Writing your first basic program in C++
Learning about variables, data types, and math symbols (operators)
How to use loops and “if-else” conditions to make decisions in code
What functions are, and how to use them in different programs
Understanding arrays, how to use strings, and what pointers do
Learning the basics of object oriented programming in C++, like how classes and objects work, and things like inheritance and polymorphism
How to work with files, and how to handle errors in programs
Doing small projects and exercises to check what you’ve learned
Most C++ courses also come with a C++ programming tutorial step by step, which means you don’t just read — you also practice. This kind of hands-on method helps you remember and understand better.
Career Opportunities After Learning C++
When you finish a C++ programming course, you will have many job options. C++ is used in lots of different fields, so you can find work in many kinds of jobs. Some common jobs you can get are:

What Are the Hadoop Skills to Be Learned?
With the constantly changing nature of big data, Hadoop is among the most essential technologies for processing and storing big datasets. With companies in all sectors gathering more structured and unstructured data, those who have skills in Hadoop are highly sought after. So what exactly does it take to master Hadoop? Though Hadoop is an impressive open-source tool, to master it one needs a combination of technical and analytical capabilities. Whether you are a student looking to pursue a career in big data, a data professional looking to upskill, or someone career transitioning, here's a complete guide to the key skills that you need to learn Hadoop. 1. Familiarity with Big Data Concepts Before we jump into Hadoop, it's helpful to understand the basics of big data. Hadoop was designed specifically to address big data issues, so knowing these issues makes you realize why Hadoop operates the way it does. • Volume, Variety, and Velocity (The 3Vs): Know how data nowadays is huge (volume), is from various sources (variety), and is coming at high speed (velocity). • Structured vs Unstructured Data: Understand the distinction and why Hadoop is particularly suited to handle both. • Limitations of Traditional Systems: Know why traditional relational databases are not equipped to handle big data and how Hadoop addresses that need. This ground level knowledge guarantees that you're not simply picking up tools, but realizing their context and significance.
2. Fundamental Programming Skills Hadoop is not plug-and-play. Though there are tools higher up the stack that layer over some of the complexity, a solid understanding of programming is necessary in order to take advantage of Hadoop. • Java: Hadoop was implemented in Java, and much of its fundamental ecosystem (such as MapReduce) is built on Java APIs. Familiarity with Java is a major plus. • Python: Growing among data scientists, Python can be applied to Hadoop with tools such as Pydoop and MRJob. It's particularly useful when paired with Spark, another big data application commonly used in conjunction with Hadoop. • Shell Scripting: Because Hadoop tends to be used on Linux systems, Bash and shell scripting knowledge is useful for automating jobs, transferring data, and watching processes. Being comfortable with at least one of these languages will go a long way in making Hadoop easier to learn. 3. Familiarity with Linux and Command Line Interface (CLI) Most Hadoop deployments run on Linux servers. If you’re not familiar with Linux, you’ll hit roadblocks early on. • Basic Linux Commands: Navigating the file system, editing files with vi or nano, and managing file permissions are crucial. • Hadoop CLI: Hadoop has a collection of command-line utilities of its own. Commands will need to be used in order to copy files from the local filesystem and HDFS (Hadoop Distributed File System), to start and stop processes, and to observe job execution. A solid comfort level with Linux is not negotiable—it's a foundational skill for any Hadoop student.
4. HDFS Knowledge HDFS is short for Hadoop Distributed File System, and it's the heart of Hadoop. It's designed to hold a great deal of information in a reliable manner across a large number of machines. You need: • Familiarity with the HDFS architecture: NameNode, DataNode, and block allocation. • Understanding of how writing and reading data occur in HDFS. • Understanding of data replication, fault tolerance, and scalability. Understanding how HDFS works makes you confident while performing data work in distributed systems.
5. MapReduce Programming Knowledge MapReduce is Hadoop's original data processing engine. Although newer options such as Apache Spark are currently popular for processing, MapReduce remains a topic worth understanding. • How Map and Reduce Work: Learn about the divide-and-conquer technique where data is processed in two phases—map and reduce. • MapReduce Job Writing: Get experience writing MapReduce programs, preferably in Java or Python. • Performance Tuning: Study job chaining, partitioners, combiners, and optimization techniques. Even if you eventually favor Spark or Hive, studying MapReduce provides you with a strong foundation in distributed data processing.
6. Working with Hadoop Ecosystem Tools Hadoop is not one tool—its an ecosystem. Knowing how all the components interact makes your skills that much better. Some of the big tools to become acquainted with: • Apache Pig: A data flow language that simplifies the development of MapReduce jobs. • Apache Sqoop: Imports relational database data to Hadoop and vice versa. • Apache Flume: Collects and transfers big logs of data into HDFS. • Apache Oozie: A workflow scheduler to orchestrate Hadoop jobs. • Apache Zookeeper: Distributes systems. Each of these provides useful functionality and makes Hadoop more useful. 7. Basic Data Analysis and Problem-Solving Skills Learning Hadoop isn't merely technical expertise—it's also problem-solving. • Analytical Thinking: Identify the issue, determine how data can be harnessed to address it, and then determine which Hadoop tools to apply. • Data Cleaning: Understand how to preprocess and clean large datasets before analysis. • Result Interpretation: Understand the output that Hadoop jobs produce. These soft skills are typically what separate a decent Hadoop user from a great one.
8. Learning Cluster Management and Cloud Platforms Although most learn Hadoop locally using pseudo-distributed mode or sandbox VMs, production Hadoop runs on clusters—either on-premises or in the cloud. • Cluster Management Tools: Familiarize yourself with tools such as Apache Ambari and Cloudera Manager. • Cloud Platforms: Learn how Hadoop runs on AWS (through EMR), Google Cloud, or Azure HDInsight. It is crucial to know how to set up, monitor, and debug clusters for production-level deployments. 9. Willingness to Learn and Curiosity Last but not least, you will require curiosity. The Hadoop ecosystem is large and dynamic. New tools, enhancements, and applications are developed regularly. • Monitor big data communities and forums. • Participate in open-source projects or contributions. • Keep abreast of tutorials and documentation. Your attitude and willingness to play around will largely be the distinguishing factor in terms of how well and quickly you learn Hadoop. Conclusion Hadoop opens the door to the world of big data. Learning it, although intimidating initially, can be made easy when you break it down into sets of skills—such as programming, Linux, HDFS, SQL, and problem-solving. While acquiring these skills, not only will you learn Hadoop, but also the confidence in creating scalable and intelligent data solutions. Whether you're creating data pipelines, log analysis, or designing large-scale systems, learning Hadoop gives you access to a whole universe of possibilities in the current data-driven age. Arm yourself with these key skills and begin your Hadoop journey today.

2025 initial responses
What moments made me feel the most alive or fulfilled this year and how can I create more of those moments in 2025?
Paris in May 2024 was the first time I did not think about my ex once a day. I also treated myself to a luxury purse that I've been eyeing for 2 years, and to be able to get it at a discount due to tax refunds was definitely icing on the cake.
I call my parents at least twice a week and talk to them for hours sometimes, I definitely noticed that we grew closer than before. I want to call them more often.
Getting on a new project which allowed me to use and learn python was so exciting! I hope to get on more python projects soon.
Did I spend time on things that matter to me, or did distractions and other people's demands get in the way?
Unfortunately my dad fell ill last August so I basically dropped everything and prioritized my family. I was doing the bare minimum to take care of myself: as long as I ate, showered and slept for 7 hours, I considered the day as a win. I've completely let go of exercise.
But when I got back, I started to pick up cardio and weight training again, and became more aware of the food that I eat. This year, I plan to work on improving my physical appearance and gain knowledge on financial investments/analysis.
When I gave up or slowed down, was it because it was too hard or because I was scared of failing?
Both. Also I had to deal with some sort of PTSD of people calling me when I was in the shower.
What excuses do I use that make it easier for me to avoid trying my best?
"2024 is the worst year of my life."
If I reach my goals, how will my life improve, and does that future excite me?
Knowledge-wise, it would definitely help me with making personal finance decisions. Bonus points if I get project/job opportunities that actually requires the knowledge.
Exercise-wise, I will become stronger, fitter, my body image issues will go away, I will feel better about myself and my mental health will improve.
Physical appearance-wise, hopefully I'll look hot lmao.
Are the goals I am setting for myself or because others expect this of me?
Myself. For the first time in my life, I'm actually making decisions for myself and not seeking validation from others (including my parents!) to do what I want to do.
Who do I want to become by the end of the year?
