WOOHOO COMMISSIONS!!! If anyone has any concerns or questions feel free to dm me!! Please let this one not flop like the one I had ages ago please please please……
I also accept PayPal!!! It’s a recent development so I hadn’t put it on my sheet :).
I forgot to mention when I posted this so I’m editing it now, but I’ll be charging the base price after I finish the sketch for your commission and you’re satisfied with how it looks so far!! Once I finish the commission fully and you’re satisfied with that is when I’ll be charging the hourly and extra character fees to ensure easier calculation!!
Do note that time spent with my head in my hands contemplating life will be deducted from the time spent and not counted toward the total🫶🫶

EMERGENCY COMMISIONS || PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING ME
PLEASE DONT SCROLL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is me - Carl or Ray! And I REALLY need to move out of my place of residence as soon as possible. The reason of the emergency is that I need to get out of a toxic environment ASAP The big problem is my mother, who is NOT mentally stable. She treats me very ambivalently: at first good, then suddenly horrible. She threatens me with violence, and plays on my emotions and mental health. She is often transphobic towards me, doesn't value my opinion at all, and if I don't agree with her, she starts a scandal and threatens me.
She doesn't care that I'm haunted by suicidal thoughts, saying that it's my own fault and that I would finally LEAVE THE WORLD, and then she abruptly changes her position, deceiving me with words, saying that:
"I just ACCIDENTALLY said it, it wasn't what I meant"
And then again it loops in a circle: scandals, threats and, that I just misunderstood it all and that it was my own fault. She is trying her best to keep me in her house, telling me I can't go anywhere because I'm not capable of doing anything.
My mom said herself that despite the psychologist's recommendation to go to sessions too, she says she doesn't have time and she's old, she just has such nerves and it's NOT a bad thing.
She's not a very b*stard. I live in a warm place and have everything, but her mentally is not stable. Accusations, threats of violence that she will start the same way she did when she was a child and verbal abuse towards me. All her negativity towards me, I am not going to take it anymore, I have enough frayed nerves and tears as it is. I don't feel safe in this house. I don't want it to continue..
…. It hurts to be around her anymore, so I need your help to move out of this place.
So, I open commissions to get enough money so I can pay for tickets, luggage and move out! And also, to have enough money to get by.

Note
just saw your patreon tax post, but what is bad about kofi membership? I got confuse after seeing comments arguining about which platform is better, and you also talked about kofi a bit...
I wish I can make a patreon but I got nothing but my writings, which barely get any attention
[context]
Okay I should've phrased it correctly, it's less about which platform is better than the other, but rather which platform is more suited for you. I know you're more on writing, but I'll offer a general view since I've used both sites + others has asked me about this. Disclaimer, these are all from my personal experience, it can be different to the rest.
What both of them can do:
Offer tier membership, you can offer free or paid and list down the benefits of joining your membership, you can also limit how many members you want.
Basic build in functions such as posting photo and poll.
Digital and physical benefits.
Analytics and tracking management.
Discord integration.
Financial payouts such as PayPal, Stripe or Cards.
Ko-fi membership
The Good
Generalized service for smaller scale projects, such as a tipping site and paywalled subscription service for fewer fees than patreon (ko-fi takes 5%).
Good for beginners because there are a lot of things that can be performed with a simple button, with comprehensive FAQ lists. Extremely straightforward with zero hastle.
Payment goes directly into your digital (PayPal/Stripe) or physical (card) wallet, no waiting for payout days.
The Bad
No NSFW content, if you try to go around this rule high chance to get penalized and your account goes bye bye. I've seen artists who offer nsfw art commissions in a hush hush way, but guess what? Ko-fi monitors your dms apparently, so if you sent nsfw related content through DMs or Posts, you're very likely going to get banned (happened to a friend).
There's no mobile app, might be a hastle if you want to post and handle things, every notification or changes you'll have to do it on web or desktop/laptop.
No direct video uploads, you'll have to use a link (a disadvantage if you're offering timelapse videos or podcasts)
For discord integration, it's finicky, half the time it doesn't work. This is due to pledger needing to connect their discord to their profile first before joining yours.
Sales tax are not automated. I may be incorrect here so better refer the FAQ, but from what I am understanding is that kofi doesn't automatically calculate, collect and remit sales/VAT/GST tax based on the buyer's location, content sold and local tax laws. You need to manually add them yourself. If you're charging $10, the buyer pays exactly $10, you receive <$10. If your country requires you to collect VAT or other sales tax, you're responsible for calculating how much should go to taxes, reporting and possibly remitting that amount manually or issuing any tax-compliant invoices if required. Uhhh so far I have not seen any cases regarding taxes, so I'm basing this off their FAQ page, posts online and youtube.
No group dms, so if you're someone who prefers to have more engagements with your supporters such as wanting to update things through chats, asking feedbacks, or simply just vibing with them, it might feel limited on Ko-fi. This is why most people have a separate discord group for better handling and posting in general.
Limited management. There are lesser details on post views, membership management, tracking payment or managing your posts. Every post you share in Ko-fi goes directly in your gallery which, in my opinion, kinda sucks because it's cluttery and messy. You will just have a tab of payment, like who joined, who has outstanding payment and who left.
Patreon
The Good
Bigger popularity and attention since it has been a thing for years. Also famously known as "pay so you can see art of dicks, tits and balls" site. Although throughout the years they've been trying to suppress NSFW posting for some reason (it is still allowed, just with some bullshit rules to deal with).
Mobile apps available, simple to use and comfortable to handle everything anywhere any time.
You can upload videos directly. You can also do polls, audio, link and livestreams.
Detailed analytics. Posts impressions/views, membership earnings, surveys (what your patreon members are joining your membership for), traffic (total visit of your patreon page and where they're coming from). This is especially useful when you have a massive following and want to have insights and control over your performance (or if you just wanna be nosy like me KAJSDKF).
Buttload of other functions that I myself have not learn much, such as automated promotions, discounts and product selling.
Built-in Discord integration. Uhm idk if Patreon works better than Ko-fi cuz when I transition to Patreon I didnt set up a discord group like before (I don't have the commitment to run and maintain them)
(Again as previously mentioned, fact check on their official page instead because I'm not sure about this) Sales tax automatically calculated and added. Patreon automatically adds VAT or applicable taxes on top of what supporter pays. If you're charging $5, a supporter from EU is charged $5.60, you get $5 in patreon and 0.60 goes to tax authorities, final money you're getting is <5$. They also handle tax collection, filling and remitting to country and provide tax reports for your records.
There are group dms (called Community tab). You can update processes and notify them directly there. It may not be as versatile as your regular communication apps like discord (eg, you can only send one image at a time to the group) but it's enough to keep some form of engagement. There is also Moderation hub to assign moderators or reported content stuff (I personally have not use this thing).
The Bad
Personally, starting patreon page was daunting to me cuz *points at FAQ and setup pages* THAT'S A LOT OF WORDS. It is not as straightforward as Ko-fi, so if you're struggling with management or suck at English like me, it can be terrifying to do the first few steps, it is a bit more advance. However, since Patreon is widely use you can ask people that has em and they'll be happy to help out, not to mention videos and tutorials out there that simplify the process. (Thank you Bressy and Shiba for helping out my initial phases)
The random ban for no reason, I've seen people who got their accounts banned when they created their patreon page, idk the full story as to why or how but, yeah it happens. Customer service varies between countries, some good some bad.
Higher charging fees, patreon takes 8% instead of 5%, if you're on premium plan then they'll take 12%. They are however, changing this and just charge 10% for ALL new blog that starts after August 4th. If you have a blog before August 4th, you'll be the 8% group still. Payment processing fees varies by region and method, typically is 2.9% + $0.40. These fees could add up quickly and offer losses over gain if you're running small tiers or have a large fan base. I also heard generated tax bookkeeping files are slightly confusing to count if you're not familiar with these business stuff.
Payout delays. Initial funs will take 5-10 days (or longer if you're unlucky) after the first pledge (like when you get a first patreon). They stay in patreon and you'll either set up automatic payout or manually withdraw them, compare to Ko-fi's instant withdrawals.
I don't know much about this but I think the Shops option differ to Ko-fi and I've heard people saying Patreon Shop setup is more finicky, so yeah that.
okay that's a lot of words so which one should I choose????
If you want simplicity, something on the side just to earn some extra income, with no thoughts about expanding it beyond a comfortable numbers of supporters (such as 10-12 members), then Ko-Fi is great. There are many memberships out there who offer benefits besides art! Such as writing, photography, editing, even algebra classes. It just really comes down to what you can offer with your skills and capabilities.
If you want to build a community, you want to continue expanding to a certain goal, you want more control over financial management, systems and tools, then Patreon is the way to go. This is especially preferred if you have content-driven mindset and if you have audiences to reach.
The reason why I am suggesting to make your patreon post now is obviously the tax increment stuff, but also if you already have that thought to have a page in the future. I understand the concern of "but i'm not ready" or "i ain't got stuff to offer", but you can always have a blank state with free memberships only. If you truly want to offer something, I believe a few passage of your current wip about your fics, or if you're an artist a simple doodle every month should probably keep your page afloat (and I mean you can ask your friends to join for free and do the engagement sillays like liking and commenting if you want extra security). Idk if patreon allows blank pages though so uhm, don't say I didn't warn you if something did happen lmao xD
I read other comments that talked abou 10% is not that high, which is fair since everyone has a different financial status and background. I'm not out here forcing anyone to start a patreon right away, I am just simply suggesting.
I wish I can make a patreon but I got nothing but my writings, which barely get any attention
I'm going to be very blunt about this and you might dislike what I am going to say, but if you have a goal you'll have to put in that effort to research, learn, experience the loss and failure, fall hard and step up again. I too, was once an account with 1 follower, and it's from Tumblr official page. My doodles were not the greatest, it's not rendered God-like, nor does it have any coherency. While I didn't think about starting memberships very early on, once I had that thought I started pushing myself to be better. Being a creative-based person online can be challenging, because if you want some financial gain from this, you'll have to put in the work to earn it. Studying what algorithm wants, what the audiences like, how other users alike are utilizing their skills to pull in the people. It's a long process that involves a lot of trial and errors, and it gets incredibly frustrating and tiring with a lot of burntout and giving up. Because you usually have to do something that you yourself may not like, but the vast majority do. You have 2 options with this kind of dilemma, stay true to yourself and do whatever you want, create and write what you want to be authentic, and find the real ones who would support you along the way, this one will be a longer road and lesser moments of "shit man, why the hell do i still write alien fucking if it throws me off." The other is okay, you figure out the people want, so time to improve and start working on that thing and slowly gain a steady amount of followers, and when you finally feel like it? start creating things you actually prefer. If they leave, they leave, if they stay, then they stay, you win some you lose some. I personally chose the second path, and yes I've lost a lot of people and support along the way, but I am happy with my progress. It took me about a year + before I launched ko-fi membership for 6 months, and then transition to Patreon now if you want a picture of my growth.
I don't think I'm there yet, even with my followings, even with patreon set up. There are many times where I still felt like what I do is inadequate and I'm ripping off their wallet with my creations and benefits. That is why I am still working my darn hardest to improve and to keep moving forward, but also to stop and reflect on my progress, to understand that these people are supporting me because they wanted to and they've been extremely kind and supportive along the way.
Well what I'm trying to say is, every foundation is hard to build, every beginning feels like torture, because it's foreign and it's tiring to even think about it, but if you want, or in other cases, need this growth and expansion, you'll have to endure it. Just like learning how to ride a bike, ya gonna fall and ya gonna bleed at times, but once you're comfortable with the handles, the rest of the ride will be easier, not smooth sailing, just easier! because there are still some bumpy road and blockage ahead, it's an ever learning curve.
Since I come from art concept, I cannot offer much advice with writings. The best way for me to improve is by looking up at what others are doing, so a good start is always connecting with others. Do you like an author's work? then read up about them like how you're putting that blorbo under a microscope and analyze the shit outta them. How do they post? What words do they use often? What prompts or premise is usually popular with their posts? What time do they post? How do they communicate with others? How do they communicate to you? How do they tag their post to reach 2k notes? How do they respond to questions about their memberships if they have one? What benefits are they offering in their pages? etc etc
idk maybe this all sounds way too much work to earn 10 pledgers in patreon, maybe all these are just way too elaborated but, at the end of the day it really depends what you want, how much are you willing to achieve the goal and how comfortable you are with these online content monthly producing responsibilities, stuff. Yeah.
Either way, I wish you all the best in your endeavors!

Ugh, my head hurts.
Now that I'm actually buying and paying for commissions since I have actual finances for once, I'm trying to understand the fees from both PayPal and my bank, since I'm in Canada, where we use fucking Looney Toons, whereas pretty much every artist I know is in the USA, and uses USD. Obviously I'm paying them in USD because that's what they fucking charge for.
Unfortunately, a payment I made yesterday ended up charging me more than I calculated, and since exchange rates are a bitch and change every day, I can't use the same numbers I used yesterday to check if I got the shit right this time.
Next time I make a payment, which is soon, I'm fucking writing down EVERYTHING. Then hopefully I can see if I got it right the next day when my bank statement shows the transaction.
Oh yeah, I don't see how much I got charged until the next day because the world hates me.

Man wakes up at 3am, starts making a rough commission sheet
Realises math is hard, conversion rates are stupid, PayPal fees are stupid, and finding out how much your art is worth and if you will get enough commissions for you to actually be paid well is hard and stupid
But hey look, work in progress commissions sheet...
Tumblr media
I might need to adjust these up and stuff because I need to do more calculations and stuff. I was being ultra nervous and conservative with pricing ideas. It's gonna be my only income for a bit, so I should probably plan it more lol.
I would add 3D here but that is even harder to price and would be very pricey and I doubt many people who follow me wanna buy a 3D model from me for a ton of money

An update about selling most of my EAH / MH collection:
I've so far dipped my toe in the waters of selling on tumblr/paypal and selling on Ebay. Tbh I was a little naive and didn't realize how much extra work it is to sell on ebay, and how much they charge in fees. While there are a few more miscellaneous things I'll probably still list on ebay, I think I'd like to facilitate the majority of my doll sales on tumblr for the sake of avoiding paying an arm and a leg in extra fees.
Please keep an eye out for a listing post in the next couple days, I'll have photographs and prices ready, and shipping will be calculated per order. I will also ship international as long as someone is willing to pay for it (I'm in the US).
By the way, if I listed G4 ponies as well, would anyone be interested? I have a handful, including nightmare moon, water cuties, large size ponies, and the nightmare moon and celestia battling figurines.

I see cool artists offer commission slots. But because of the issue I mentioned the other day I don’t trust anyone with commissions right now.
😐 Trust in artists to communicate is broken. Is it too much to ask for some information? Especially when you paid for a service? I know that contacting the artist won’t help. Saw others trying to and not getting a reply.
I guess I have to draw my ideas myself šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø (though I have commissions to finish myself and they have priority after last month put a damper on things with stomach flu and personal issues).
But the whole thing also taught me that I am not going to help with any ā€žemergency commissionsā€œ again. The post to advertise that drive for commissions was also deleted. So yeah. Lesson learnt. I’m just annoyed that it cost me 70€. But I guess you are never too old to get scammed.
And no, I won’t point fingers. Witch hunts never solved anything. Just: Don’t pay using ā€žfamily and friendsā€œ on paypal! Artists should invoice you - for many reasons (taxes, acounting, customer protection, etc.). And the paypal fees can be calculated into the commission fee to begin with. Plus, Paypal offers a service and yes, that comes with fees. That’s how things work.
I am more annoyed about myself because I KNEW ALL OF THIS BEFORE… 😩

Hi, how are you doing?
My sister seems interested in doing commission work, and she's asking me for help with it, but I don't know anything about it. Could you help me help her?
How does the process of commissions work?
There any tips/recommendations you could give her?
Hello!
I'm definitely not an expert and definitely winging it as I go and taking what i see other artists do into consideration, so bear that in mind and take what i say with a grain of salt! I also assumed while writing this that this is about art commissions? If it's not sorry I kind of went on a tangent at the end about it but most of the advice still apply!
I'm guessing your sister has a product in mind they want to sell. Most people make a little website either pointing to the platforms they use to sell or to google forms they have for clients to fill out. I use carrd, there's a free option that lets you have a lot of creative freedom and enough elements to make a good website, and boom! Now onto selling commissions. To sell those you can either use a platform for selling stuff online, i use ko-fi because it's the most practical option, there's also v-gen, which i haven't tried but heard good things of. With that option it's easier to have fixed prices, so if something seems to hard to draw for that price it's harder to ask for more but most clients are okay with tipping an additional fee through that same platform. You can also just have a google form available where you ask the potential client to describe what they want, leave their email adress and you can get back to them and offer an accurate price for their commission idea. If they want to purchase that commission you then can send them a paypal invoice and they can pay it.
Most people I know use paypal, I saw people using Stripe or Venmo too. Ko-fi only allows you to link a Paypal or a Stripe account though. While using Paypal i would advise you to find a website that tells you how much Paypal will take from the commission, because they have a fee, and it usually stings. That way you can take that into account and raise your prices according to that so you still get the amount of money you need by selling your service. However I gotta say that Paypal always takes more than what those paypal fees conversion websites say it will, idk why.
Another website i use a lot to do pricing is calculpourcentage.com (sorry it's in french but i'm sure there are varients in other languages). It's pretty handy to calculate pricings along with the good old trusty phone calculator.
A very, very important part of selling commissions online is to have a solid Terms of Services written and available for clients to read through. It's like when you download a software or game and you have to check the litte box that says you agree with their terms of services. I know we pretty much all just scroll down and tick the box without reading but commission clients should never do that. Read the TOS!!! In your TOS you should put anything you need to make sure the client knows what their getting, any behavior or commission inquiry you will not accept, your rights to decline any commission for any reasons, your rights over the finished product, etc. I know it sounds daunting said like that but don't worry too much, it takes some time to put together but most people take whatever they need from other artists' TOS, you can frankenstein them and tadaa! perfect TOS for your needs and what you offer. You can and should absolutely update it whenever you want or need to. Here is a link to my TOS for inspiration if your sister needs some, but again, I think it's best to look for other artists TOS to maybe find some points I didn't write in mine.
Finally, to talk about the action itself of doing commissions for people, I have some advice as well. Firstly if you can, only offer things you feel up to doing. This might seem like a given but anything that makes the process less stressful and puts less pressure on yourself, you should do it. Commissions should be fun, especially if you're starting out. I know not everyone has the luxury or privilege to be able to, but if a commission inquiry makes you uncomfortable for any reason, don't accept it. I've had mostly good experiences with clients so far but there are stories going around online about scammers or people who ghost commissioners or clients, so my advice is to stay informed about possible scams, stay honest and communicate with your clients about possible delays and stuff like that.
And very important point that I almost forgot, commissioning art is a luxury, and any work needs good pay, no matter your skill level. I think every commission artist starts out by underselling themselves, and you probably will too, and it's okay. My advice is still to try and look at the price you settled on for a commission and add a little more. Keep in mind how much time you're taking to draw, gather references and so on. You will probably have to adjust your prices as times goes on. Everything I listed so far are things that can and probably will change with experience, it's how most of us learn and adjust the way we work.
Another thing is that for the majority of artists, commissions we do get are very sparce and for artists who can make it their job it's an immense workload and very hard to manage. I know it's easier said than done but my advice is to try and not let your commissions order number get you down or reflect your art's worth in your head. In my opinion art is priceless and deserves all our love and time regardless of if it's "good" or "bad", but it's pretty antithetical with literally putting a price tag on my work :') Anyway, commissions can feel demotivating or have a negative impact on your health in many ways, so if you can feel free to close them anytime you want to and try to keep time to yourself for your personal art too!
I think that's all I can come up with right now, I hope it helps you or your sister, and good luck to them if they do try out offering commissions!!

$1010 / $1662
thank you so much for the donations today! samah has also told me that she needs the last $600 we have left of this goal before the 25th of april - that is, she needs it by her thursday / american wednesday for ammar's weekly treatment
it has already been over a week since his surgery, so this is what he needs now to keep from becoming ill
there are some ko-fi fees in the way that leave us a little short unfortunately
as mentioned, when we sent the money that should have been $895, the actual amount we were able to send that had came into the paypal account was actually $860 - leaving a $35 deficit
this also means for the rest of the money we have, we should have $125 [with the extra $10] - however, we actually have $108, which means we are missing $17 from fees
from what we've observed, the fees appear to be a higher % on smaller donations, and lower on higher donations - all donations are appreciated and i don't wish to discourage anyone from donating what they can, but the fluctuation of fees makes it more difficult to calculate how much more we will need
right now, we are as mentioned short by $52 from the actual total we currently have
therefore, i will check back in when we have reached hopefully around the $600, i hope we can receive at least $652 more
let me know for ping removal

this is a new post being made for ammar @ammarfamily2 as i checked the post i had been using and it has now been flagged as "potentially mature content". out of concern for this possibly suppressing pings, i have made this one instead.
the below text is copy pasted from the previous
samah’s original campaign and account are shared by 90-ghost, but it was shut down as her organiser’s bank account was deactivated
proof samah asked me to use my paypal / ko-fi account here
unfortunately ammar needs some medication to make sure he is well after the operation he had 3 days ago - namely, he needs painkillers and antibiotics
samah has told me that it is going to cost $1263 for his post-surgery care - because she will have to pay 20% fees to get this money to her, i have it up as $1600.
his condition without having immediately received the post-surgery medication already worsened enough that he had to return to intensive care last night
in 3 days he has had surgery, left the hospital, and failed to receive the medication needed to keep him well after the surgery, then became ill enough to go back to the hospital.
we truly do not have enough time and i worry for him, please let's do what we can for him

Thinkific vs. Teachable (+ An Affordable Alternative Without Hidden Fees That Makes It Easy to Make Money)
You’re researching course creation platforms and considering Thinkific vs. Teachable.
In this blog post, I break down the similarities and differences between the two platforms.
I also discuss how ProductDyno — a platform for creating and selling online courses and other digital products— can be a great alternative (or addition) to Thinkific vs. Teachable.
Thinkific
Despite Thinkific’s popularity, it has many significant drawbacks for creators:
It’s not beginner-friendly (Not easy to use)
According to some users, Thinkific is very difficult to use.
No free plan – Basic Plan starts at $36/month
You must invest upfront when you don’t know if you will make sales or not.
There are hidden fees
There are several fees you’ll pay on Thinkific.
Thinkific’s additional fees—like local payment method fees, currency conversion charges, international card fees, adjustment fees, subscription fees, sales tax calculation fees, and currency flat fees—can quietly eat into your earnings, especially if you’re a new creator trying to turn a profit.
Teachable
Teachable also has significant drawbacks that you need to know about as you consider Thinkific vs. Teachable:
Course and test creation is time-consuming
Some users have reported that creating a course with Teachable can waste your time.
If it takes hours to build a course or quiz, that’s time you could have spent marketing or making money.
Transaction fees on the Free and Basic plans
Teachable’s transaction fees—$1 + 10% on the Free plan and 5% on the Basic plan—can seriously shrink your profits. These fees pile up with every sale, cutting into your hard-earned income.
As your course sales grow, the more you lose, making it harder to build sustainable revenue.
Payment Issues and Unexpected Charges
Many creators report major problems with Teachable’s payment system.
These include blocked or withheld funds for up to two months, subscriptions being reactivated without consent, and unexplained double charges.
ProductDyno
What is ProductDyno?
ProductDyno is a content delivery platform that lets you create and sell photos, audios, videos, courses, memberships, and other digital products.
Best for
Since 2017, ProductDyno has been helping:
writers
authors who want to distribute eBooks
affiliate marketers
digital product creators
to create and sell courses and other digital products online.
People like you are using ProductDyno to make money— creators have made over $15,656,647+ in revenue on ProductDyno so far!
Want to see how simple, easy, and quickly you can use ProductDyno to create and sell online courses and other digital products?Ā  You can sign up for a free trial.
How ProductDyno Is Different Than Thinkific and Teachable
Unlike Thinkific and Teachable, ProductDyno:
has aĀ  simple, user friendly interface— no confusion and you can use it to easily create online courses
has tools like the Course Blueprint Designer and Instant Course Builder you can use to plan and launch your course in minutes
offers AI tools that can generate lesson content, titles, CTAs, and more—saving you hours of writing
is very transparent regarding pricing and payments. You don’t pay hidden or extra fees. And they don’t take a cut of your revenue—You keep 100% of your revenue (except for payment processor fees like PayPal/Stripe)
offers a one-time payment lifetime deal (at times), which lets you create and sell unlimited products without recurring costs—ideal for maximizing profits
doesn’t process payments directly. Instead, it integrates with trusted, experienced payment processors to handle transactions.
And apart from courses, ProductDyno enables you to sell other products, such as photos, audio clips, videos, songs, SaaS products, reports, and audio & video bundles so you can make more money.
Thinkific vs. Teachable
Now let’s look at Thinkific vs. Teachable in more detail.
.
Thinkific
Some Of Thinkific’s Top Features
I’ll detail Thinkific’s features later, but first, let’s look briefly at some of its top features and some challenges users have with Thinkific.
Thinkific offers tools like:
a drag-and-drop course builder
a website and landing page creator
a customizable course player
flexible payment options, and
student engagement tools like quizzes
Teachable
Some of Teachable’s TopĀ  Features
•          Along with building online courses, Teachable also lets you offer coaching sessions and digital downloads.
•          You can create memberships to give your students ongoing access to content.
•          The platform includes simple tools to organize your lessons and track student progress.
•          Built-in payment processing helps you get paid quickly and securely.
•          You can customize your sales pages to match your brand.
Thinkific vs. Teachable: Product Features
Now that we’ve done an overview of each platform, let’s look at specific product features and compare how each platform stacks up.
To help you understand how each platform works in practice, I’ll compare Thinkific vs. Teachable, and ProductDyno as an alternative to the two platforms, in terms of:
Ways To Make Money On Each Platform
Payments and Business Finances
Thinkific vs. Teachable: Ways to Make Money on Each Platform
How to Make Money on Thinkific
Thinkific lets you make money by creating and selling digital learning products. The most popular way is to sell online courses.
You create your content (videos, PDFs, quizzes, etc.) and bundle it into a course. You can charge a one-time fee, offer subscriptions, or create payment plans.
You can also sell digital downloads, like eBooks or templates, and bundle products to create higher-priced offers.
How to Make Money on Teachable
Teachable helps you earn money by selling online courses, coaching services, and digital products.
The main way to make money is by creating a course and selling it to students. You can charge a flat price, offer payment plans, or even a subscription model to generate recurring income.
Teachable recently added support for digital downloads. That means you can sell PDFs, guides, eBooks, or audio files.
This works well if you don’t want to create a full course but still want to monetize your knowledge.
How You Can Make Money on ProductDyno
Create and Sell Digital Products
For example, you can create, upload, and sell eBooks, PDFs, reports, checklists, audio files, templates, stock photos, and more. ProductDyno delivers them securely to buyers.
Sell Online Courses
For example, you can upload course videos directly or embed them from Vimeo/YouTube. You can organize lessons and modules easily and even drip content over time.
3. Offer Memberships (Recurring Income)
For example, you can create a members-only site with exclusive content (videos, articles, templates, etc.) and charge a recurring monthly or yearly fee.
Sell Software or SaaS
Ā For example, if you have downloadable software, plugins, or cloud-based SaaS tools, ProductDyno helps with secure delivery and license key management.
Create Product Bundles
Ā For example, you can combine multiple products (e.g., eBook + templates + video course) into a high-value bundle and sell it.
6. Sell Services with Digital Deliverables
For example, you can offer services like coaching, consulting, or digital audits and use ProductDyno to deliver supporting materials (worksheets, recordings, reports).
7. Promote Affiliate Products Inside Your Content
For example, you can add affiliate links to other tools, courses, or software within your products. If a customer buys through your link, you earn a commission.
8. License Your Products to Others
For example, you can allow others to resell your content or use it in their business, and charge a licensing fee.
And you can use ProductDyno to make money in many other ways as well.
You can sell:
Software (SaaS or downloadable)
Mobile apps
WordPress themes
WordPress plugins
Website templates (HTML, CSS)
Excel/Google Sheets calculators
Resume or CV templates
Branding kits
Canva templates
Sales funnel templates
Legal document templates
Budget templates
Investment tracking spreadsheets
Audio meditations
Script templates for YouTubers
AI prompt packs (e.g. for ChatGPT)
and many more
Here’s what one creator shared on ProductDyno’s website:
ā€œYou can evenĀ use ProductDyno to set up your own ā€˜video on demand’ businessĀ similar to Netflix using their expiring content feature. No wonder we’ve moved all our product delivery securely over to ProductDyno.ā€ - Nick James
ProductDyno lets you setup easily and start earning quickly.
Here’s what another user said about ProductDyno on AppSumo:
Want to see how you can use ProductDyno to create and sell online courses and other digital products to make money?Ā  You can sign up for a free trial
Thinkific Payments/Billing
Thinkific’s payment system has some downsides.
For example, some users say their system automatically deducts money and wrongful charges happen.
Teachable Payments and Business Finances
Some users say money is not paid regularly and payment can take weeks to reach your bank account.
Another issue you may face is that payouts can be withheld (sometimes for two months), and instant payouts are only available on the more expensive plans.
ProductDyno Payments and Business Finances
Unlike Thinkific and Teachable, ProductDyno doesn’t restrict you to just Stripe or PayPal or force you into their own payout timelines. So you have lots of options to receive payments from your learners.
This means you have direct control over how and when you get paid.
With ProductDyno, you can connect your preferred payment account to enable you receive funds instantly, without waiting for ProductDyno to approve or release your earnings.
So unlike Teachable, ProductDyno doesn’t hold on to your hard-earned revenue for weeks or even months and you don’t risk your payouts being randomly frozen or withheld due to platform policies or ā€œreviews.ā€
With ProductDyno, you’re paid in real time, straight into your own account.
Learn more about these three platforms and how you can use them to create content you can sell and make money by reading my blog post Thinkific vs. Teachable

Hi guys and gals and nonbinary cuties šŸ¤—
I had a wild thought: Why not try to take some commissions šŸ‘€šŸ‘€?

šŸ‘‰Split sheet on individual projects When using bandcamp Do to the split between different beat companies on projects...šŸ¤”šŸ˜šŸ‘
While PayPal itself doesn't have a built-in feature to directly ts with PayPal (and other payment providers like Stripe) to automate the splitting of revenue for collaborators on a per-product basis.
Here's how it works:
1. Use a Platform like CollabPay:
CollabPay allows you to set up collaborations with other creators and define how earnings from each sale should be split.
2. Connect to PayPal:
CollabPay needs to be connected to your PayPal account (or another payment provider) for payouts.
3. Set Up Collaborations:
You can add collaborators to your product listings and define their percentage share of the earnings.
4. Automated Payouts:
When a sale is made, CollabPay automatically calculates and distributes the appropriate earnings to each collaborator, according to CollabPay.
Key features of CollabPay:
Flexible Revenue Splits:
You can define how earnings are split, whether it's a percentage, a flat fee, or a combination of both.
Automatic Adjustments for Returns/Refunds:
CollabPay automatically adjusts future payouts to account for any returns or refunds.
Multiple Collaborators:
You can add multiple collaborators to a single product and define their individual earnings.
Post-Sale Adjustments:
You can adjust a collaborator's earnings after a sale if needed.
Important Considerations:
Collaborators Need PayPal Accounts: For PayPal payouts, collaborators will need their own PayPal accounts.
PayPal Fees: PayPal will still charge their usual transaction fees for each payout.
Digital Products Only (Initially): Collaborations were initially supported only for digital products.
