Scared to Say It
Connor bedard x reader
Connor Bedard felt like he was on top of the world. At just 19 years old, he was a rising star in the NHL, playing for the Chicago Blackhawks. But as successful as he was on the ice, he couldn't help feeling a bit of envy that had nothing to do with hockey.
It was the night of a big game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and Connor's team was trailing by a goal. He sat on the bench, helmet off, staring out at the sea of red and black jerseys in the stands. Somewhere out there was his best friend, Y/N, who had been a constant in his life for years. He'd known her since they were kids, growing up in the same neighborhood in North Vancouver. They'd done everything together: playing street hockey, biking, going to the beach. She was his rock, his confidante, his best friend. And he was in love with her.
The problem was, he didn't know how to tell her.
Connor glanced over at the Maple Leafs section, and that's when he saw it: Y/N wearing a Leafs jersey. Not just any jersey—it was Auston Matthews', one of the league's top players. A wave of jealousy surged through him, and he felt a tightness in his chest. Why was she wearing that jersey? Had she met Matthews? Did she like him?
"Hey, man, you okay?" asked his teammate, Lukas Reichel, who noticed his brooding expression.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Connor lied, trying to focus on the game. But his eyes kept drifting back to where he knew Y/N was sitting. The jealousy wouldn't go away. He was angry at himself for feeling this way, but he couldn't help it.
"Looks like someone got under your skin," said Taylor Raddysh, another teammate, who'd followed Connor's gaze. "Isn't that your friend over there?"
Connor nodded. "Yeah, that's Y/N," he said, feeling his stomach twist.
"Why's she wearing a Leafs jersey?" Taylor asked, raising an eyebrow. "I thought she was a Blackhawks fan."
Connor shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe she just likes Matthews," he said, trying to sound indifferent, but it came out as a grumble.
The other guys on the bench started to pick up on his mood. They'd seen Connor and Y/N together enough times to know there was something more than friendship between them, even if Connor couldn't admit it. Taylor gave him a nudge. "You should talk to her, man. Tell her how you feel."
"I can't," Connor said, shaking his head. "What if it ruins our friendship?"
Lukas rolled his eyes. "Dude, everyone can see you two are into each other. Just go for it. Life's too short to be scared."
Before Connor could respond, the coach called the team back to the ice. The game resumed, but Connor was distracted. His mind kept racing back to Y/N in that blue jersey. He knew he shouldn't care so much, but he couldn't help it. He was afraid of losing her, afraid of the change that might come if he confessed his feelings.
As the game went on, things didn't get much better for the Blackhawks. They fell behind by two goals, and the crowd grew restless. Connor felt the pressure mounting. He played hard, trying to focus on the game, but his heart wasn't in it.
During the intermission, the team returned to the locker room. The coach laid into them, demanding more effort and focus, but Connor barely heard him. He sat at his locker, his head down, feeling the weight of uncertainty.
Suddenly, the locker room door creaked open, and he looked up to see Y/N slipping inside. "Connor?" she said, her voice soft.
"Y/N, what are you doing here?" he asked, surprised to see her. The rest of the team had gone back out for warm-ups, so it was just the two of them.
"I wanted to check on you," she said, walking over to him. She held out a bundle of fabric—a Blackhawks jersey. "I changed into this because I didn't want you to be upset. I know the Leafs jersey was a bad choice. It was a friend's joke, and I thought it would be funny, but I didn't realize you'd be so bothered by it."
Connor felt a surge of relief, but also a pang of guilt for feeling so jealous. He stood up, his heart racing. "It's okay," he said, taking the jersey from her. "I'm glad you came to see me."
Y/N looked at him, her eyes searching his. "Is something wrong, Connor? You seem... different tonight."
He hesitated, feeling the words on the tip of his tongue. The moment felt right, and he knew he had to take the risk. "Y/N, I—"
"You're back on in five!" one of the coaches shouted, interrupting them.
Connor felt the urgency of the moment slipping away. He couldn't wait any longer. He took a deep breath and stepped closer to her. "Y/N, I need to tell you something," he said, his voice low and intense. "I like you. I mean, I really like you. More than just a friend. I've been too scared to say it, but I can't keep pretending."
Y/N's eyes widened, and her cheeks flushed. "Connor, I—"
But before she could finish, Connor leaned in and kissed her. It was gentle and hesitant, yet filled with emotion. It felt like everything he'd been holding back finally broke free, and for a moment, the world faded away.
When they broke apart, Y/N's eyes sparkled with surprise and happiness. "Connor, I've liked you for a long time," she said, smiling. "I just didn't know if you felt the same."
Connor couldn't believe his ears. "You do? Why didn't you say something?"
"I was scared," she said, shrugging. "I didn't want to ruin our friendship."
Connor laughed, feeling a wave of relief. "Me too," he said, pulling her into a hug. "I guess we've both been scared for no reason."
Their embrace was interrupted by the coach's voice. "Bedard! Get back on the ice!"
Connor sighed and kissed Y/N's forehead. "I'll see you after the game, okay?"
"Good luck," she said, watching him as he left the locker room with a huge smile on his face.
The game turned around for the Blackhawks after that. Connor played with renewed energy, scoring two goals and leading his team to a thrilling comeback victory. As the final horn sounded and the crowd erupted in cheers, he skated over to where Y/N was sitting, wearing his jersey and cheering him on.
He pointed to her and grinned, his heart swelling with happiness. She blew him a kiss and waved, her excitement as palpable as the rest of the fans'. The game was a success, but it was nothing compared to the feeling of finally being honest about his feelings.
After the game, Connor and Y/N went back to his place, where they cuddled on the couch, watching a movie and enjoying the simple comfort of each other's company. It was a happy ending that felt like a new beginning—a beginning where fear and uncertainty no longer stood in the way of their love

omg omg omg frat lip walking me back to my apartment after a party
i can't get this out of my head omg. i stopped rearranging my master list for this.
you sit, shivering outside of... theta? lambda, maybe? no... no, this wasn't the lambda lemonade you were tasting. you look down at your cup, blue. beta.
you take another sip, the vodka warming your body. you hear footsteps approach you before a voice is calling, "hey, uh, we're closin' down for the night. you, uh, y'got a ride home?" you shake your head, to which you hear him murmur a low curse. "okay, well, we gotta get you home. what's y'name?"
you tell him, looking up for the first time to meet his blue eyes, scanning the way his sandy blond curls peek out from the bill of a blackhawks hat. it matched the jersey hanging loose around his shoulders, and you perk up when you notice. right. jersey theme.
"yeah? where ya live?" he asks, leaning cautiously down until he can help lift your body up. "that's it, i gotcha."
"apartments... jus' down the block," you say. "c-crest apartments." your teeth chatter and you shiver as the cold wind blows against your skin.
"fuck! you gotta be freezin- wait right here," he tells you, disappearing inside the door to your right and returning moments later with a striped sweater. he helps pull the thing over your head and you mumble your thanks before the two of you set off.
with your permission he holds his arm tight around your waist, allowing you to lean your weight on him. he places a cig between his lips, lights it, and takes a long drag, exhaling the smoke away from your face. he chats quietly with you, keeping you engaged, asking about your night. it isn't long before you're standing at the stairs that lead to your apartment.
he stands down below the breezeway after you insist you can make it up the stairs on your own, watching to make sure you get inside safely.
"we uh, we got a party tomorrow, three o'clock. i'm manning the grill. come see me, yeah? let me know you're alive?" he calls up with a smirk as you unlock your door.
tomorrow. gonna be cold... i can wear the sweater.
"I'll be there." you reply, and he turns on his heel to leave. you stay there, leaning just out of the doorframe, then add "never got your name."
he turns around, walking backwards with a shit eating grin on his face. "ask me tomorrow, that way when i give you my number you can actually remember it!"

What my Aus did for New Year last night!!!
The Littlest Hughes au—
Honey and Quinn stayed in last night with baby Warren!! Honey is pregnant so she can’t party, and if Quinn’s wife isn’t going out neither is he!! So instead they stayed in, ate Chinese food, and watched ‘Rocketman’ because Quinn had never seen it and Honey was appalled by that fact. They put Warren down early and just cuddled, shared a kiss a few heated kisses at midnight, took a shower together and went to bed shortly after!
The Windy City au—
The Blackhawks are on a roadie so Connor and Lucia didn't ring the new year in together, but she made sure to call him as soon as all the screaming died down at some random house party on her school's Campus. “Happy New Year baby,” she slurred as he smiled at her bubbly voice, “wish you were here, wanted my New years kiss, but it's okay, you'll just have to make it up to me when you get home” she mused as she listened to Connor’s smile growing as he spoke, knowing that he was probably flustered by her suggestiveness. Let's just say he's counting down the seconds till he's back in Chicago to give her a long-awaited New Year kiss.
Tiny Dancer au—
Sunny is in Jersey with her brothers (and will be there until after the Canucks play the Devs) but she's out bar-hopping with the boys and some girls. Adam calls her just after midnight to wish her a happy New Year, she hates that she can't ring it in with him, but she's super happy to hear that he's having fun. They share a few drunken ‘I love you’s’ before hanging up and returning to partying. Luke and Jack do not let her live down how flushed and smiley she is just from a simple phone call
Always an Angel, Never a God au—
Angie was invited out by Jonas and a few of the other Swiss players to join them and their girlfriends at the bar. She feels a little out of place amongst them, Nico can sense it, so he stays by her most of the night. Angie can tell that's what he's doing so she tells him she doesn't need him to play emotional support captain for her all night, and he simply just shakes his head and pays no mind to her words, hugging her close to him as he sings along to ‘Mr. Brightside’. At the countdown, Angie really, and extremely drunkenly contemplates kissing him but decides a kiss on the cheek is a much safer option. Nico is all red after it, deeming 2024 his year after her red lips press against his stubble-covered cheek!!

Hiii and congrats on 1000 followers!! Can I request 🤍 for buttercup/peanut meeting Bedard for the first time? I think it would be funny either way because bee's not super happy with the comparisons with her dad, while peanut probably doesn't even understand who he is
thank youu <33 haha, here's a short blurb on both of the meetings
buttercup:
the stadium groaned in unison as the horn sounded to signal the end of the game. buttercup, along with the other fans, took a moment to clap and cheer on the boys as they left the ice.
plastering a smile on her face, she made her way out of the stands and through the halls reserved for players and family.
"you played a hell of a game out there," she gave tristan jarry, the pend goaltender, a hug.
he nodded half-heartedly, patting the top of bee's head fondly as he moved towards the locker room.
bee smiled sadly after him, always sad to see the goaltenders sad after losing a game.
sid shoved his glove in his daughter's face as he walked by, trying to get her to cheer up a little. bee made a face, swatting his sweaty glove, but giving him a hug.
"i saw your goal," she said. "you're lucky. i just got back from getting some candy. if you were any earlier, i would've been upset that i missed it."
sid laughed, "oh it's my fault you miss seeing the goal?"
"obviously," she answered.
"oh get outta here," he shoved his glove near her face again.
"you can't talk to your child, your own flesh and blood, like that," she called after him, waiting in the hallway as he continued making his way to the locker room.
whenever she watched the game, she had a habit of staying in the hallway until the last penguins player left, and then heading over to wait for her dad finishing up his media.
like always, sid went ahead to get a head start so they could go home and bee would be ready for school the next day, while she congratulated all the pens players on their game.
"your russian's getting weak!" geno called as the two of them finished a half-english-half-russian conversation.
"not my fault!" bee called back.
she craned her head to see if there were any more pens players coming out of the tunnel, freezing as she saw a different jersey.
before she knew what was happening, the blackhawks team made their way past her, too lost in their own huddles and the adrenaline of winning to care about a little girl in a penguins hoodie standing at the sidelines.
bee froze, wide eyed, as players she only knew from watching the game, made their way past her in real life.
they stopped near the hallway before heading to the locker room, huddling up with their teammates and congratulating each other on plays. everywhere bee looked, there was a blackhawks jersey.
"you okay?"
bee looked up at nick foligno, a veteran hockey player now playing with the blackhawks.
"i'm good," she answered, though she wasn't sure how convinced he was.
"are you lost or something? need help?" another person asked.
bee looked at connor bedard, the rookie sensation. she raised a brow.
she expected him to be taller.
"bee?" jon, the equipment manager, called out from the front of the room. "c'mon, your dad's done media for the day. he's waiting in the second hallway."
"i'm coming," bee said, making her way towards him.
behind her, most of the players were now trickling into the locker room, still excited over the win. but she could hear some players whisper "oh, that's sidney crosby's kid!"
she was pretty sure one of those whispers belonged to connor bedard.
-
peanut:
"peanut, where are you even going?" mama sighed, following her kid.
peanut had been adamant on seeing her dad and saying hi to him, and then saying hi to mitchy, and then saying hi to everyone else on the team. now, she was refusing to get back to her seat in the stands.
"you want me to watch her for a while?" jennifer, one of the media coordinators for the leafs, asked. "we're just gonna be here for twenty minutes or so to film chicago's entry."
"fun!" peanut clapped her hands, taking a seat on the floor.
mama made a face, "well, i guess i'll stay here with you guys."
jennifer laughed, setting up the cameras to get some shots ready. soon enough, a trickle of chicago blackhawks players made their way through the hall, some stopped by peanut wanting to claim the hallway to do tricks instead.
"mama, watch me," peanut said suddenly jumping up and blocking connor bedard's path. she looked up at him, "you need to move backwards. i wanna show my mama a trick."
"oh dear god, why is she like this?" mama muttered to herself, embarrassed.
jennifer tried her best to hide her laughter, recording the trick peanut wanted to show mama.
after doing three (partial) cartwheels, peanut threw her hands in the air and grinned. "ta-da!!"
mama, jennifer, and connor clapped dutifully as peanut ran back to sit on the floor.
"that was great," connor grinned, giving the little girl a high five before moving past.
"sorry about her," mama chuckled. "she's at the age where she thinks she's the most important person in the world, and her dad's coddling doesn't help that."
connor shook it off, "no worries. i'd actually have been disappointed if i missed that. she's a cute kid."
"thanks, i made her."

Q@A Trevor Zegras
A) anon, yes Trevor Zegras is an overgrown baby on the skates, a showman playing his acts and stunts, a playboy but also incredibly playfull and creative on the ice and from technical side.. He is the top scorer of tanking Anaheim aducks and although lacking finesse of his idol Kaner he is almost like him lolcjeck his cheeky a puck between the legs video.
youtube
B) anon, yes, McDavid's girlfriend Lauren is very trendy and sexy, the Pens Wags quite dowdy and I like Blackhawks wags and their style and meet ups. I just need to sort out my cookies on other phone ...
C) anon, Tazer is downhill for more reasons one of that is without doubt the pregnancy of his ex gf Lindsey Vechione who is expecting her 2nd child (well, she's 36 soon so no shock, not anybody is Kathy Leather and a simple rule of an ice hockey is You don't score and you don't defend ..You get a goal). Also he went on memory lane and whining prior of the season how all is different and he can't imagine to play for other NHL franchise..search it. Obviously we have no insight into his health struggles as well but I bet that 50 per cent is it u to his head . He has no puffy face in 2020,2021 and first half of 2022 before he has met a hippie yuppe Megan Butler from the group of Marcus Aubrey. I mean something else to be a fan of it and other thing is to have their stuff home with a fanatic admirer as a gf. Desperados do desperate things so his blindness with crazy woman Ashley who is behind Crosby Interesting to unfollow her on Insta. Marketa has cut him off for that and reading her gibberish about Crosby and all name calling and slut shaming of wags you know why. Their friendship is over. She moves and adjust even quicker than Lindsey as there was anything intimate between them. Kaner is gone in NYC and he is left alone and Tazer loves his routine and all exactly the same things and set ups. Last Mustang and the Blackhawks back office with CEO and their carousel roster does not make it easier for him. He's silly but obviously faithful hating changes
D) anon, I will post anything nice about clothes, cute nhl puppies and ice fun but I need to access and upload photos from my other cell phone. I don't cover pyckbunny topic and I don't bother what girl dates certain player and I don't watch it.
E) yes, Chicago Blackhawks wants Connor Bedard for sale of jerseys and as a top pick on rebuild. I
