I have a modest, hand me down smart TV that was gifted to me without a remote. I've been using it without one for some time, but for disability and surgery recovery purposes it would be REALLY, REALLY USEFUL to have a remote.

I do not possess the $10/15 it would cost to buy a physical replacement remote.

And I've jUST LEARNED about """"universal remote apps""" and how they all want to charge yOu A SUBSCRIPTION???? TO USE THE GOD DAMN REMOTE???? This one was like $5/mo, upwards of $60 PER YEAR FOR FUNCTIONALITY MY TV ALREADY HAS!!!!!!! One offered me a one time purchase of $14.99 which I suppose you could argue costs the same as a physical remote w instant gratification, but for the sheer fact that they OFFER a $60/year indefinite option, they can kiss my WHOLE asshole

Most of these apps (judging by the reviews) used to make you just watch ads between functions but now I can't even find one that does that. they all give you like a 3 day trial (!!????! LMFAO) before you gotta cough it up

ok so having said all of this. Remotes are very basic, yeah? We've had them forever? Remote apps cannot possibly be overly complex, esp if they work over wifi??
