#I just think it's neat how close it could be to being DND-ready

Sure I'm a little tipsy I can do one more post about my Dungeon Meshi brainrot let's go with what I think the DnD generic stat bonuses would be for each race.
The most modern DnD seems to just be going by the rules "+2 to any one stat and +1 to another". Which is very cool and I like it a lot and use it in all my games but let's pretend it's release year of 5th edition and I'm a very cranky tabletop rpg dev who's trying her damndest to figure out how to game-ify Kui-sensei's world/ Okay? Okay let's go
Spoilers and stuff in some of my reasonin'
Tallmen: Are NOT just the human stand-in. No they get +2 Constitution and +1 Charisma. It's incredible how much stamina Laios and Kabru have, no matter how many times they're resurrected. And as we know, in Dungeon Meshi, being revived eats away at your constitution. Tallmen seem to have an easy time building fat and doing cardiovascular activities. Also Marcille tells us humans are uniquely talented in music and dance. Laios... Is not that so it's still largely based on personal skill so it's the +1 stat.
Elves: +2 to Intelligence and +1 to Dexterity. Elves are lithe and graceful if they're trained but their real strength is the sheer amount of time they can dedicate to study. It's absolutely endless and their control over spirits is exact as a result. It's very wizard-like, where they need to memorize formulae and prepare accordingly for the task at hand. It's part of the reason I think Marcille casts explosion so much, it's not cast with elven magic and really easy to just throw out there.
Dwarves: +2 to Strength and +1 to Intelligence. Dwarves are also long-lived, and apply that knowledge to their craft rather than magical study most of the time. They're also strong as FUCK. Laios is powerfully built for a Tallman and Undine threw him with just a shot. Namari and Senshi, though? They easily held up shields against a literal water jet. They might even be too strong, they get tired really easily if Laios' time in a dwarven body is any indication.
Half-foots (Half-feet?): +2 Dexterity and +1 Wisdom seems right to me. They're light, nimble, and often very aware of their surroundings. Honestly it's a little hard to decide if Wisdom of Dexterity should be the high score since both are so fundamental to what we learn. Half-foots are often VERY perceptive of their surroundings, whether they want to be or not. To the point where Marcille can't focus on her spells in the form of one because everything is so loud around her. But light of foot and nimble of sneaking and blessed of aim are also core to what we see throughout the series so... It really is a toss-up to me.
Gnome: Gotta go with the +2 Wisdom, the primary casting stat for faith-based casters. Gnomes put their beliefs into the spirits and entreat their help, which is very much like clerical casting and requires, I think, a lot of natural intuition in the world to know when a spirit will be helpful. For the other I'm going to say +1 Constitution. If you noticed, I have one physical and one mental stat for each race so I don't wanna say +1 Int and break my streak. But also I have no basis for +1 Con except for 5e Rock Gnome and the fact that they often probably have to deal with the consequences of unruly spirits. I'm just saying, if Falin and Marcille's teacher can be that calm about an EXPLODING DEATH JAR they probably have some extra oomph behind them. Probably my weakest reasoning honestly.
The others: Uh... Shit there are a ton I don't know I'm sleepy. Come comment what you think if you'd like to have some fun g'night everyone.

Yo Imma dummy and fell in love with your DP Phantasy AU and am brimming with questions. How does Val’s suit work here? What’s Vlad’s situation here? How does partial resurrection work? Like I said, brimming with questions, expect a flood later.
*slams my hands on the table* HI HELLO THANK YOU FOR LIKING THIS DUM AU IM SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG TO REPLY IM AKSNDAKSADKJ Im so glad you like this tho i really do qwq <3 <3 <3
Anyway umm be ready for a long answer because BOI I do have a lot to talk
because I did type a lot on the original description and then tmblr goes upload error on me so i lost all that so  YEAH i hope u dont mind the long post
Feel free to send more questions tho im always down to talk :DD
So Vlad thing, I havent given that one much thought yet. But this is fantasy AU so he can now finally be the brooding-alone--in-his-oversized-castle vampire that he is
Valerie would be a rogue mercenary / bounty hunter (coz Red Huntress lol). I haven’t thought up how her S2 suit yet but she probably has a cursed gem on her glove or bracelet that slowly corrupts her. Maybe it could turn into armor like Trollhunter style that be neat :3c
Tumblr media
NOW! The Ressurection thing!
disclaimer : im makni this with my very limited idea of dnd n game stuff so please do tell if its too far off??
But yeah, for this think of HP as your body hit point, and MP as your magic consist in your soul. When the portal open up on him, it needs something to anchor itself to both realm. The portal use Danny as said anchor and seperate his soul from the body, using the body to anchor to living world, and the soul to the ghost/dead realm. Should either of it got destroyed or killed, the portal would be closed.
Danny’s soul turned into a Lich, and his body is.. well it’s just there i guess. It’s alive techncially (thanks to sam’s ressurection attempt) but it doesn’t have a soul anymore. As a lich you can’t just.. get merge back into your old body. I mean you can possess it but that’s just not the same. Also because of the whole being turned into a lich, his body is basically his horcrux, which is an item lich use to store life force/soul. It what makes Lich almost immortal?? so long the item is not broken. maybe not immortal but you get the gist, it’s like voldie’s horcruxes basically, except he only got one
Tumblr media
So now we have a) portal use both danny soul and body as anchor; b) danny’s body is his horcrux; c) if his body or soul is destroyed, the portal closes; and d) if danny’s body died, his lich form is no longer immortal
Sooo, in DnD there’s a system? In which if your health hits 0, you don’t immidiately die. You basically passed out, and then you have to do roll dices to wake up again. But if you got hit again in the 0 HP state, then you die for good.
I’m basically playing around this. If Danny’s HP hits 0, technically speaking he ded. Not full dead yet, but no more life energy in there to fuel/anchor the portal anymore, basically closing the thing completely.
AND it’s dead enough to weaken or alter Danny’s lich status to.. not.. complete undead anymore. So maybe MAYBE they can try to merge both the soul and the body back together. By using ressurection to jump start or force the soul to bound back with the body again
So that’s what Danny Sam and Tucker were planning for. More less sth like this :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
why half lich? Because while no longer undead, he’s still technically a Lich sorta so.. partial lich? Also because half lich sounds cool so ye
Hopefully that explains it??

DnD Ask Meme- Talise
Link to original, blank meme: https://thejenesaisquoigirl.tumblr.com/post/186529464305/dnd-asks More about my tiefling swashbuckler under the cut~!
1) What would they consider to be their biggest failure?
Oof. Maybe not being able to save her family, or at least her sister-in-law and nephew. Maybe her (former) deep reliance on alcohol once her memories started coming back. Trauma is a motherfucker
2) What’s the story behind their name?
When I first went to grad school visit days at my current institution two years ago, there was another person interviewing with a name that sounded similar. Really loved it and added on LaPearl for her alias’ last name (for her eyes). Her birth name is my Warden from Dragon Age Origins (Hozanna Cousland, only more french) since the backstory shares a lot of similarities.
3) What’s their relationship with their family?
When she was Hosanna, very close. They all loved learning (though maybe different things), the people in their city, and each other. She was closest to her brother, Yanis, despite their age difference. She felt adrift after losing them and finding Yanis has upset any equilibrium she was finding.
4) What’s one song that describes them or is them?
The cover of Rise that Superfruit did on their channel
5) Who is their best friend?
Yanis was her best friend growing up; the years after losing him were rough but she was working towards a place of resignation...then they found him alive. As Talise, it’s super weird because yes, her brother used to be able to embarrass her in her previous life; but now, it’s the first time she’s ever felt shame. Hosanna, while sharing a small flair for the dramatic, was a very different person than Talise was crafted to be. But in the party, Jax is the closest to a best friend.
6) Why are they their class?
She was reincarnated by a coast druid, and it was only natural to join a crew due to not remembering her past right away. Her previous skill with dueling with a rapier mixed with her familiarity with locks led to her embellishing her new self into the type of sailor one would find in a storybook.
7) What do they think of their party members?
She feels distinct lines in the sand amongst the party. At first, said lines seemed only about their sleeping habits (there was no other way the rooming arrangements could have shaken out and everyone live). But now, it feels very much like two separate factions working together. Separately: Q- she’s terrified of everything she does being in that book, and she has a hard time wrestling with his innocent naiveté when it reminds her of who she used to be. Briony- Not used to being around women in a strictly friendship sense, but is happy for her presence so Q has someone of a similar maturity. Braxton- He’s rarely there. Annoyed yet darkly amused when he takes point with trap checking and lock-picking; annoyed because she assumes he believes himself an expert in everything (maybe due to him being slightly misogynistic)...amused because she's better and it’s funny to watch him fail due to his own hubris. Jax- They instinctually understand each other. It’s complicated but in a good way as she thinks the world of him. Caspian- Like recognizes like but she feels they have different motivations behind collecting information...and it’s hard for her to move beyond a betrayal of trust. She does enjoy bantering with him and sharing a penchant for innuendo.
8) In what ways are they similar to you?
Insightful, observant, curious, collector of knowledge, has two sides to protect her softness
9) In what ways are they different from you?
Unashamed in the way she moves through the world, unabashedly flirtatious and teasing, confident, how she copes with things (tends to be physical indulgences), seeing trust as black and white, unafraid of confrontation or large birds
10) What do they look for in a romantic partner, if they have a romantic orientation?
She’s super pan and attracted to interesting people. She loves those who keep her guessing and have layers she can explore without ever becoming bored. With a lot of hidden quirks, they need to be fine in indulging her intense love for museums or sleeping in until the latest time possible. Because of stuff that happened in her past, she needs someone who she feels safe with and who can handle that baggage. Someone who can keep up with her banter but who can be soft with her; she wants an equal partner and not someone who she has to take the reins from all the time. So confidence, intelligence, depth, strength, compassion.
11) If they had a patronus or animagus form, what would it be?
Ooooooooo....idk. Maybe a panther animagus? Something that slinks around with confidence but can be very soft. Patronus would be a cat like Talis or a hippogriff like Fantôme...or a peafowl.
12) What do they smell like?
The ocean and "oriental” notes with hints of coconut and citrus. Someone who has sailed the coastline would have had the opportunity to collects lots of sachets of things to scent their clothing along with various oils, etc which lends itself to the “oriental” perfume family.
13) What is their secret skill?
Sketching/drawing. She’s intensely private about it; but has charcoal, pencils, and a sketchbook in her pack that’s rather like a diary.
14) What is their relationship to spirituality?
Non-existent save for some superstitions. Hosanna was religious but not superstitious; Talise reversed it as she had a hard time retaining her faith in anything.
15) If they were to be remembered for something, what would they want to be remembered for?
NOT for what happened in her previous life, unless that remembrance served the greater good. She’d just like to be remembered, in general, rather than lost to lines in a book. She wants people to speak kindly of her and the small amount of goodness she’s put into the world.
16) Why did they become an adventurer?
Chance meeting in Dolcino when she was taking a break from sailing haha And news of Yanis came up on their travels so she had to see it through.
17) What’s one thing about their backstory that came to you after you already started playing the campaign?
One notable thing--hadn’t even thought about her being an alcoholic (sober now) until making her playlist. For some reason, “Chandelier” kept coming up and it had to have been a sign because it’s deepened her in ways I wasn’t expecting. Also her tattoos. And her not being a morning person xD
18) Do you have any headcanons for them that haven’t come up in game? Or headcanons for other party members?
Absolutely. Her tattoos and why she has them (only one person in the party has probably seen them); what drove her to her alcoholism; and her sketching. Other party members: Q- that he has tried to teach some magic to Quirrel enough times that Quirrel can mimic the somatic components of some spells; that he’s instantly awake in the mornings with a pep in his step. Briony- that she genuinely doesn’t know or understand how privileged she is and so makes statements about some type of princess-y thing she thinks is normal but is very much not. Jax- he has Talise braid his hair before sleeping because it’s more effective than a ponytail in keeping it neat at night; he quietly chats with Francis when he needs to think through things weighing on his mind; he keeps a tiny, secret notebook to make notes to himself on things he remembers, things he enjoys, etc. Caspian- when he reads dialogue he really likes in books, he’ll speak it aloud until he figures out the exact voice for the character so he can use it for later;
19) Any ships with your character? If a PC or NPC, what interaction launched it?
She’s the first character in a LONG time I legit ship with another PC. Whether it becomes romantic or remains platonic (it’s not just up to me or Talise), Jax is the most significant person in her life–excluding her brother. They just got each other from day one and they seem to be the only ones able to easily talk to the other, even when the subject is difficult. The canon you created about her feeling safe with Jax is 100% true; ever since Before, she has a hard time sleeping around other people but she trusts him enough to even share a bed…and he’s the only one with whom she would never be anything but truthful. At their core, they are people reinventing themselves after tragedy but don’t know if they’re doing it right. But Jax makes Talise feel it’s alright to be who she authentically is rather than acting the part she’s written for herself; and to find joy again in the things from her past. The ship’s legit launch was after their serious conversation about “equivalent exchange” in relationships (about Caspian) and has since been buoyed by all their side chats + interactions. “…are you just going to stare at me?” “Until you’re ready.”
20) What would your character consider their biggest success? Or what is your favorite success your character has had so far?
Finding her brother and beginning to reconcile Hosanna with Talise. My favorite success was that conversation mentioned above...or successfully surprising characters and peeps with her backstory drops.

A little update on how things have been going.
I’ve been trying to go through the 1/2 finished minis and finally finish them.
I got through the dragonstrike project for my brother, 6 heroes and 3 villains- I’d do more but I only wanted to paint his duplicate villains because they’re the original minis not pewter replaments
I finished a 1/2 orc monk that was originally the human Wizard for the dragonstrike project.
I did a blue aasimar from a pair (the other is brass, already done)
That purple and orange kamadan from a looooong while ago is done.... I almost broke it it was a real hassle.
I’ve got a demogorgon assembled. Ready to be primed once the glue is fully set and stable and a color palette picked out.
I’ve got a dragon that was one of those cheap Papo toys? And I’m repainting it to look like an enchanted stone dragon. I think?? I’ve got the stone look as good as i can make it. So later the magical glowy shit. Hopefully it’ll look neat? I was gonna make it like... a calico? But I changed my mind. Maybe a different dragon later.
I fixed some minis that got damaged.
And finished three that I primed but then immediately put in the drawer to be forgotten. A mind flayer, a spear lady, a lizard an wizard man. of them I need to go over again? But it’s probably fine.
I have a few more that got primed then forgotten and hopefully I’ll finish before too long. A dwarf, an archer, a jackalman/Khenra, a swordsperson, and a papo spider.
Also been slowly working on a finchgriffin.
Is it productive time use? I’m not sure but my hands are busy and I’m not thinking about the state of things I cannot control or change.
The dnd goes to hell campain1 is going along. Still fine. My cleric is still alive but we just reached hell so, we shall see.
Wednesday group is going, a winters homebrew set mostly in a megadungeon mine. My goose/aarakocra barbarian man is still alive but we had many close calls. He might take a dip into paladin. I thought about switching his barb subclass to the beast path from tashas but. I dunno. It might be too late for that unless I talk to the gm more about it.
My Saturday game fell apart/undetermined hiatus. The player I didn’t know joined while in the middle of a weird life situation and kept doing weird things like massive multitasking while playing? Like painting her living room?? And eventually she stopped showing because of Weird life situation.
And I had a lot of difficulty finding things that all of them wanted to do. A thread that one like the others wouldn’t care about, a hook that caught a different one that wouldn’t get the others. If any seemed to get them at all.
There was a whole session almost of literally nothing but me listing hooks and guiding them by the hand to things they could do but 2/3 just refused to participate entirely. That was the last session we had. Maybe I could have done things differently I guess, but I feel like i couldn’t have done more? You know?
Ive almost finished filling out everything in r20 to run a little vtm 2e introduction module I have? Idk if I’ll use it but again it’s something to do that wasnt being distressed about general state of the world around me.
The adnd game on teusday is still on hiatus I think? I’ll find out for sure on teusday. It should be starting back up this months though.

Ravenloft Ironsworn, part 10, The Gargoyle
The Gargoyle
Okay, it looks like time for our first actual fight in the system, so I figured I ought to take the time to make sure I get it right – there are a few more moving pieces with combat than some other situations, because RPG. Anyway.
First, to review:
Brig has pushed up the rusty portcullis separating the southern forecourt from hind court, and Ismark and Ireena scrambled through. I was left to figure out how to get let the gate down and get out from under the thing without making a godawful racket and alert the whole castle.
While this is happening, a gargoyle dropped down from the buttresses above (see picture) and into the courtyard just behind the Koyanas, and Brig’s choices got a lot simpler.
Brigitte charges, and the first thing I’m wondering is whether that gate comes crashing down right away. It could make it a move, but honestly there’s not a lot of skill being applied here – it’s just dumb luck, and I’d guess there’s about a 50/50 chance that the rusted track lets the portcullis slam back down.
Well, okay then. The gate is a little shimmied in the track, and when Brig lunges free, it slips a couple inches, gets hung up and cockeyed, and sticks. Lucky us, so far.
Brigitte charges at and past her new friends, both of them wide-eyed and a little surprised – years of training making the unlimbering of shield and mace an automatic thing.
I don’t need the gargoyle to be some terrible foe – I suspect they may be pretty common, at least around the outer grounds of the castle – but they’re more than a basic farmer with an angry pitchfork, so let’s make this thing a Dangerous opponent. (Inflicts 2 harm, takes 2 progress per harm.)
Then, roll to determine who’s in control. Ooh, I get to roll +heart. Nice. (Burning 10 momentum on a basic roll reminded me I didn’t envision Brigitte being very stealthy, and that I didn’t give her the stats to pull it off.)
Very cool. I have initiative (which doesn’t mean what it means in DnD), and +2 to my momentum track, which moves things in a happier direction. With initiative, I can go for a Strike (which acknowledges I have the edge here) instead of Clash (which is a riskier kind of melee exchange).
Brigitte’s charge isn’t a means of closing the distance – it is the attack, in a very real sense, and her momentum only builds as she charges across the courtyard, each step coming faster than the last. She smashes straight into the gargoyle, leading with her heavy, reinforced shield – the mace blow she follows up with is almost an afterthought.
It’s… super neat when I write up a really cool opening attack and the dice just SCREW me. Ahh well.
The gargoyle is ready for Brig’s attack, and it catches the shield with both it’s clawed hands, absorbing the impact even as it’s pushed back a few steps. It takes the mace strike on a shoulder, like a teenager shrugging off a younger siblings attack in a pillow fight, and then reaches over the shield with a stony claw. Brig likewise turns a shoulder to protect from the claw, and the thing gets the strap of her pack, pulling, then tearing it. Triple-stitched, reinforced leather tears like wet paper, and half the contents of Brig’s pack spray across the courtyard, first at the thing tears at it, then as Brigitte pulls back and tosses it aside.
[-2 supply, based on the Oracle’s result. Super. Also, the thing has initiative now, which means I’m Clashing.]
Brigitte shucks the pack away and wades back in, stalking now, rather than charging.
Gaaaad dammit. I cannot get a break. Okay. Keeping it a bit more simple this time, I’m going for the obvious Pay the Price of Enduring Harm. The thing’s claws are just tearing through my gear like it’s nothing. I’m taking 2 harm (since this is a Dangerous foe) and Enduring Harm:
I don’t know how to feel about being more lucky when it comes time to take a beating than give one, but whatever; I’ll take it. The 8 comes from a +1 I get from my Ironclad asset, which also gives me a +1 momentum on a hit, which I’ll happily take.
The strong hit on Endure Harm means I can choose either to exchange a momentum for +1 health, OR take another +1 momentum. In the long term, I’ll probably want the health – it’s harder to recover than momentum, but that +5 momentum might help me turn the tide RIGHT NOW.
Also, I should give through to that Match. That gives me an opportunity, and it want it to be a real one this time (I’ve been bad about making my positive matches kind of weak, sometimes.
SO: okay. I’m going to take the ‘heal’ option, I think, but I think that Match gives Brig initiative back.
Brig would have sworn she was wearing armor, but you’d never know it from the way this thing is tearing at her. If it weren’t for her shield – for the years of training against her mentor (also bigger and stronger than her), she’s be cooling meat on the cobblestones already. Even so, she’s reeling, stumbling back.
And then and arrow skips off the things head. Then another, snapping and striking sparks. Ismark is stringing a third arrow, and his sister is at his side, sword out and ready for the things charge.
The gargoyle turns, lowers its head, growls (somehow? It doesn’t have a throat!), and takes two steps… before Brigitte crashes into it from the side.
Strike!
Fucking hell.
[You know, I’ve pondered on several occasions whether I should move Brig to the “challenging” stat array, but the fact of the matter is, I’ve yet to miss a roll by anything close enough that one more point would matter. This is no exception.]
Okay, so I need to pay the price, but I don’t want to just ‘hit point’ them back and forth, so let’s keep it interesting and see what the Oracle says.
Alright FINE. Asshole oracle, anyway. I take Harm (2, again), and Endure Harm. (Again, +1 from my ironclad.)
Same situation as last time, but without the twist. I’m not going to pick anything else, either – I don’t relish trying to get my health back up in an enemy castle, so I want to mitigate as much of that as I can. This means my heath is +3, and my Momentum stays stead at 3, thanks to getting one from my Ironclad and then trading it right away, twice.
The charge was exactly as effective as the last one.
“Get behind me!” I shout at Ismark and Ireena; my shield is up and I’m circling the thing, trying to maneuver it somewhere useful. Further back into the courtyard? No. Wait, WE can go further in. Yes. Maybe. Find another gate. Something we can get between us and this thing. “Try to get past and see what’s ahead!” I’m going to Face Danger, using my shield as cover, which gives me a +1. I’ll take whatever break I can, frankly. Ooh, and that +1 is just what I needed for the Strong Hit. I could kiss my shield right now.
Probably will, later.
Don’t judge.
So, the new plan looks like this: I’m going to try to Secure Advantage while Ismark and Ireena slip past me and I keep this stony bastard busy.
“The good news is, the gate’s up!” calls out Ismark. “The bad news is, it’s probably rusted in place.”
Eh. Fine. No worse than a strong Face Danger – +1 momentum is a net good, undeniably.
“Fine.” I grit my teeth and plant myself in front of the opening, and ready myself for the thing’s next attack, wishing I had heavier armor on. [seriously, it would really help my on this Clash roll…]
Inflict your harm, but then Pay the Price. Your foe has initiative.
Finally at HIT at least. That fills the first 4 of the ten ‘progress’ boxes on this enemy.
I’m ready for the thing’s claws this time – mostly – I catch the first slash on the edge of the shield, then bash it over the eye ridge with my mace, right where Ismark’s arrow left me a bright white target gash. The thing punches straight out with its other club-like fist, right at my chest.
I take it on my shield again (seriously, totally having a shield make-out session later); I stumble back into the wall next to the gate, and slam into a release catch hidden beneath the vines on the wall. The small portcullis gate come rattling down, narrowly missing Ismark, and cutting me off.
Our eyes meet through the grating.
“Shit,” he says.
I turn back to the gargoyle and clench my jaw. “Yes.” Then I charge.
[Note: this is stupid. I want to acknowledge, for the record, how stupid this is, before I roll.]
Okay, I’m Turning the Tide. I’m taking back initiative, and going straight for a Strike (getting out of this fight by just getting away is no longer an easy or likely option, thanks to that gate coming down.)
According to Turn the Tide, I get a +1 on the roll, and +1 momentum on a hit. Cross all your fingers… YES! Oh hell yes! “On a strong hit, inflict +1 harm and retain initiative.” HELL yes.
Okay, that’s 3 harm, each one of which fills in 2 boxes on the progress track, which maxes the track out with all ten boxes filled. Nice! I’m coming off a strong hit, so let’s End this Fight.
… seriously fuck you, dice.
The creature wasn’t expecting either the timing or ferocity of the attack. My mace comes down once, twice, a third time – claws shoved aside and then joints attacked, until the stone begins to the crack and, once cracked, break.
I do not stop. The smashing, breaking, growling attack does not let up until the thing is rubble at my feet and I am covered in thick, violet ichor with an eye-watering, sour odor.
I shuffle over to my pack, retrieve what I can, and shuffle back to the gate, where Ismark is dragging the chains back up. “You smell -” Ireena begins.
“Don’t.” I say. “Don’t say it. I can’t hear anyone say it.”
[I’m picking Others won’t forget. You are marked for vengeance. Because seriously: fuck gargoyles.]
