#I love Vash and Wolfwood but I want my girls to stand out too

This is just me blabbering, don't mind me.
What if in TriStamp S2 the one who find Erics is not Wolfwood but Meryl and Milly? Since both are reporters I think Meryl will be determined to find Vash. Rather than in the anime where she and Milly are just insurance girls, they only act when they heard about Vash.
She even still return to Lost July from time to time in the ending, so maybe she spot something that triggered her to know that Vash is still alive.
Also since the girls are reporters they gotta be know that 'someone' still stealing the plants, and she know only Vash can stop this.
Yeah but I think they (Orange) maybe still stick to the original.. For me it's make sense that the girls are reporters and not insurance girls, so they're more active with the searchibg and action too.

Hey! <3 it's me again, the anon who requested the scenary of Wolfwood sister x Vash. Thank you sooooo much for taking my request, it made my day! <3
I'm writing again to request you for another scenario if it's not too much trouble 👉🏻👈🏻 and instead of being something romantic, it would be more like a family reunion.
The scenario would be with Vash reuniting with his sister (that would mean that instead of just Vash and Knives, in this scenario it would be Vash, Knives and reader, that means, they're triplets) who he believed to be dead since the Big Fall. How would he react upon finding her and realizing that the little girl he protected and cared for when he was a child was now a full grown woman who knew how to fight and shoot and that all kind of stuff?
I also thought that this scenario would be set in chapter 9 when Vash wakes up on "Home".
I hope all of this makes enough sense 👉🏻👈🏻😔 again, thank you so much for taking my "Wolfwood sister x Vash" request! I loved it! Hope you day is going well! See ya! 💕✨
I’m glad you enjoyed your previous request! I had fun writing it, and I had fun writing this one as well lol this one got away from me, I just kept adding to it and adding to it. Might make a part two with Nai if anyone's interested :) Also spoilers I guess? Also, i'm sorry but the twins with a sister screams the song Hey Brother by Avicii

Vash x Sister!Reader
Tumblr media
You are pacing, you have been for a while now after all this time you thought you’d be a little braver. But it's like you’re that little girl again, scared and always crying and needing to run to your big brothers at the slightest inconvenience.
But it’s been decades now, and you haven’t had the privilege of doing that since before the fall. You remember it like it was yesterday, Rem, the escape pod, and then the desert. You were separated from Nai and Vash at that point. Waking up in the desert alone, everything on fire, you just ran unsure of what to do and where to go.
You were more like Nai in the regard you didn’t need much to survive, so you wandered everywhere and anywhere with no real purpose, no goals only memories…
You were hiding, sometimes the ship seemed so cold. You didn’t want Nai and Vash to see you crying, it was pathetic! And not even for a good reason, wiping your eyes and sighing you feel all cried out. Someone calls your name, Vash you realize. Wiping your eyes harshly, you stand taking in deep breaths, before answering.
Vash comes flying around the corner his face lighting up when he sees you, but then he frowns looking at your face. You try to smile but it’s a little watery. “Are you okay?” You nod not trusting your voice, Vash sighs and grabs you by the arm to pull you along.
You start to protest, but you close your mouth at the sound of a piano playing. Your face lights up as Vash pulls you into the room where Nai is playing, he was the best at piano out of the three of you.
Pulling from Vash’s grip, you move forward to join Nai. He makes room for you on the bench but rolls his eyes at Vash as he pushes you into himself to make room for the three of you. You laugh then, content to sit between them and listen to them both play.
Nai nudges you, and with some encouragement from Vash, you join in. The piano was not meant for three people to play at once, so it was more of a mess of notes as the three of you stumble over each other's hands. You feel much better now, and don’t notice the look Vash and Nai share over your head.
You are pulled from the memory when a gentle hand rest on your shoulder, and turning to see Luidas smiling face. “He’s awake.” You thank her, watching her walk away, once she’s out of sight you sigh leaning against the wall and sliding down it to sit.
It was still surreal being here on this mostly operating SEED ship, staying here you could pretend the fall never happened, that you grew up here safe and happy. But you didn’t and you happened upon this ship by pure accident.
Your luck it seemed had finally run out; you don’t know how many weeks you’d been going for at this point when you collapsed out in the dunes. When you came to you all you could feel was panic because there was no way you were on a SEED ship, you looked the same you were still grown you had all your things it just wasn’t possible.
Luida knew what you were the instant she met you, it was odd and, in a way, comforting for someone to know your secret. She showed you then some old photographs, and well you simply couldn’t believe it, “That’s Vash.” You said voice slightly awed; she sat down next to you watching you with a soft smile. “Your y/n, he’s mentioned you before, well he thought you were…” she trails off, not having to say it because you thought the same of them. Nai isn’t in any of the photos, and you are simply not brave enough to ask.
You stand now shaking your head, living in the past wasn’t an option right now. Vash was alive and here right on the other side of that door all you had to do was walk towards it. With a deep breath, you enter he’s sitting up on the bed messing with his arm. He doesn’t say anything, he probably thinks you are one of his friends that you came with. The group you’ve been avoiding for the most part.
He looks different, older you’re sure you do too. You don’t know what to say, “Vash?” His name you cringe at your watery tone, not expecting to already be crying. He looks up surprised, your eyes meet and his jaw drops. You jump when he stands suddenly, he takes a step forward, stops, and says your name.
You sob then, moving forward and throwing your arms around him, you’re just crying because you can’t believe it. He’s here, he’s alive and you don’t have to be alone anymore. Your big brother standing right before you, the tears just kept coming. You had made a vow to yourself that you'd no longer be weak and that you wouldn't cry all the time. But none of that mattered, besides you think this was a pretty good reason to cry.
Vash is too stunned to move because it’s you, his baby sister, alive you look different, your older that’s obvious but it’s in your face less alive, less joyful like you haven’t smiled in a long time. He doesn't understand how you are here, on this ship. Home. He wants to ask and needs to know what you’ve been doing all this time. Where have you been? How have you survived? You were the youngest, but you were in Nai's words closer to perfect than he was.
But Vash doesnt ask, he can't even speak, instead, he wraps his arms around you and cries.
He pushes you back gently to look at your face, “your alive.” It’s the only thing he can say, “so are you.” You choke out, and you look away scared to ask but you have to know. “What about Nai?” You feel him tense, “it’s complicated.” He whispers, leading you over to the bed so the two of you can sit side by side.
You're confused, but let him continue. Vash begins to tell you what he’s been doing all this time, you doubt he’s telling you the whole truth and probably doesn’t want to share the gory details. You let out a ‘huff’ you’re sure no matter how long you’ve been alive he’ll always treat you like a baby sister. But you don’t interrupt, then he begins telling you about Nai.
Eyes wide you simply can’t believe it, you are not naive you’ve heard strange rumors, hell you’ve seen some strange things as well. But all this death and destruction… was Nai really capable of that? You want to deny it, but you know Vash isn’t lying he would never lie to you. You sigh leaning your head on his shoulder, “well I’m here now, will figure it out together.”
“Together?” Vash asks with a small voice, you smile “yeah, oh you’re not getting rid of me any time soon. We’re a family, and we have to stick together.” You say it’s a little childish, but you think you deserve to think a little childishly right now. You feel Vash begin to pull away, but you grab his arm not letting him get too far.
“It’s too dangerous, it’s best if you stay here.” You roll your eyes, and you give him a look. “Seriously? So, you think I’ve been holed up in a cave all these years? I’ve been out there surviving all these years by myself!” Your tone is bitter and he flinches, you soften. It’s not his fault, everything had been so chaotic after the fall, “please don’t treat me like a kid, I’m not that little girl anymore.” And you mean if you were not able to be her anymore, not since the fall.
Vash looks at you really looks at you, and he knows your right. He sighs, “I don’t think I’d be able to stop you anyway.” He says with a laugh, you smile. Right now, everything was perfect, and while your family would never be complete not truly, it still hurt to think of Rem, and thinking of Nai was also painful. But for right, you’d hold on to this happiness and wouldn’t let go.

🚨 Dorito alert 🚨
Commentary under the cut!
[Art & Story by Yasuhiro Nightow. Translation by Trigun Ultimate Overhaul.] [Disclaimer: I have consumed much meta content & had many conversations about Trigun on Tumblr and Discord since earlier in 2023. Lots of my commentary will be a result of cooperative analysis, so thank you to all who share their thoughts!] [Warning: While I will mostly avoid manga spoilers, some of my commentary will involve discussion of future topics. I am also assuming readers have seen the 98 anime and/or Trigun Stampede and are at least somewhat familiar with some of the major story beats.]
This chapter is so great. It's the first time we see Vash's intense concern for the welfare of others, right down to his utter willingness to put himself in harm's way to protect those around him. He completely ignores the Nebraskas while he moves the women out of harm's way -- although he's already made his feelings known by writing "kiss my ass" on Gofsef's hand in the previous chapter. Everyone just stands by and watches as he works, because Vash has already made it abundantly clear that he is not to be fucked with.
I actually really enjoy the way Gofsef and Father Nebraska allow Vash to pull the women to safety without interfering. They're not here to be merciless. They're here to collect the bounty on Vash. Father Nebraska lights a cigar, later asks "You done?!"
Perhaps the most core moral dilemma to Trigun also comes up here:
Tumblr media
This comes up a lot more later in Trimax, comes up in the 98 anime, and has already come up in Stampede s1 (a challenger appears... it's Wolfwood!) Hell, it even comes up in Badlands Rumble: Vash chooses to protect the life of a dangerous criminal; that criminal then goes on to take many more lives. If Vash had allowed that man to die, those other lives might have been spared. So, was what Vash did right or wrong? (Spoiler alert: there is no clear cut answer.) Wanting everyone to come out alive is a very tricky (read: impossible) thing to achieve, especially on this cutthroat planet. And, obviously, when you're Vash the Stampede.
I should stop talking about this, because it's going to come up again and again, and it's way too early to start an in-depth commentary on Trigun's moral quandaries
Tumblr media
The glasses. The glasses come out here. In the manga, Vash puts on his glasses when shit's about to get serious. Why? To improve his aim. Vash's lenses are orange. Orange lenses block blue light, which is particularly useful on a bright, hazy, desert planet. They help to reduce glare and increase contrast. Vash needs his bullets to go exactly where he wants them, in order to quickly disarm or disable his opponent, and to ensure he doesn't accidentally kill them.
We typically see Vash put on his glasses in the manga when he's about to enter a gunfight. He sometimes also wears them when traveling or out in the bright sun. Vision benefits aside, I think he also sometimes wears them as a sort of mask, something to hide behind. (This is particularly noticeable in Stampede. God, I could write a whole in-depth post about Stampede Vash's glasses and maybe I will)
All the bystanders think Vash is crazy. They think he's about to be demolished. Meanwhile, Vash is unrattled, focused. Of course he can do this. If anything, he's just upset about all the violence. He fires off several bullets with godlike accuracy and successfully disarms Gofsef's rocket arm. Cue the sassy bitch.

Oh, also, add 1 to our plantussy count:

AND THEN MERYL'S BACK WITH HER MEGAPHONE GOD I LOVE HER SO MUCH (and poor Milly clinging on for dear life)

INTRODUCING~~~ VASH THE STAMPEDE, HUMAN DISASTER!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meryl's intense energy vs. Milly's friendly energy, 💯 -- love Vash's different expressions. Then Milly gets her badass moment, and baddaboom! The girls and Vash have officially met.
Onto chapter 4! look at me, putting two chapters into one post!!!
Tumblr media
what the *hell* this is so soft he is so soft i am dead this has slain me
Tumblr media
It's been a couple weeks at this point. Vash gave up the $$700,000 bounty he got for defeating the Nebraskas, and he gave it all away to the town. He considers free sandwiches a fair trade. (read: He knows the townspeople desperately need the money. He doesn't. It's not even a question.)
Vash slips out to hop on the sandsteamer, hoping no one notices. He wears a cloak to hide his red coat and his glasses to hide his eyes. (May I refer to my previous point that Vash sometimes wears his glasses as a "mask")
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unfortunately, local child (Tonis! Namesake for the kid in Stampede) exposes Vash, who is then subjected to the horrors of a lively celebration in which the most fickle town in existence praises him and wishes him well (/sarcasm...well, except for the fickle part)
Tumblr media
I have already commented on how Meryl is so freaking captivated and already falling in love (here and here) but here are the panels again!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
CONSUME MY VASHMERYL AGENDA
(Listen: I love vashmeryl AND vashwood. I love both ships from both a romantic and a platonic perspective. I am also not thingy about it and am open to enjoying / letting others enjoy all ships. No ship wars here)
Then, there's the women. I have posted about this before, but I want to write some updated/summary thoughts.
Tumblr media
The town (or maybe just this one dude?) hires two women who are presumably prostitutes to pleasure Vash as a reward / thank you for saving the town. Vash pretends to be asleep so they will leave him be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vash says that was 'more than he deserved...maybe' and appears to feel a little regret over not being able to fully enjoy himself.
🚨 Headcanon incoming 🚨
HC #1) Vash is not a virgin. I think it is only natural that he, a lover of people and joy and connection, would have slept with a number of people, moreso in his younger years. Then, as he grew older and he A) realized he would outlive and lose all those he had a connection with, and B) accumulated grotesque scars all over his body, Vash chose to avoid physical intimacy altogether.
HC #2) Vash is a virgin / ace, desperately craves intimacy and closeness, but avoids it for the same reasons as above.
Either way, Vash is denying himself comfort and joy.
Tumblr media
*obligatory bisexual snoozing pose*
Tumblr media
Also, Vash is fucking done with other people's shit and just wants a moment of freaking peace to himself
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
TEEF TEEF TEEF
look at those fangs
And one final thought:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I highly doubt Vash was actually fooled by this kid. Vash frequently plays the fool, the jester, the ignoramus, all to disarm the other person, and usually so he can stay close to them because he knows they are in danger and wants to be in a position where he can protect them.

Jealousy
Part 1
Vash can be labeled a flirt. This definitely makes having a secret crush on him sting when that attention especially is on someone else. More 1998 T.rigun setting, Gill gets jealous.
Reblogs are appreciated. Please enjoy reading.
💜💜💜
---
It wasn't a nice feeling, jealousy. Watching someone she's in love with flirt with other women fills her with it. He's not some player, but he can be said to have a weakness for a pretty woman; complimenting and going as far as to bark when called, he enjoys flirting.
This particular woman was crossing a line. The way she leaned towards him was salacious. The slow drag of her fingers along his chest, the sultry grin she wore, and the alluring tilt of her head; none of it sat well with the bounty hunter. And what was the worst about watching this was watching Vash lean into it ! He was all sparkly eyed at her, looking as if he was definitely enjoying the attention.
From her table, too far to hear their voices given the crowded saloon, Gill watched with fingers wrinkling her dress's skirt. She had the simultaneous urge to walk to them and tell her off and then make sure he wouldn't chase more of the woman, and shameful reproach following each of those thoughts too; she has no place stopping him. What an awful friend that'd make her.
She flinches. She is an awful friend huh? Thinking of getting in the way. It's like not his fault that she hasn't told him the way she feels about him, how deeply she loves him.
She's convinced confessing would lead to rejection, but maybe that'd be preferable to watching him flirt; he's too kind to do it within her line of sight if he actually did know her thoughts. Then she wouldn't see him fawning for every pretty lady.
But she's too in love to confess it and hear his denial. Too in love to look away from his generous fawning.
Gill's fairly certain Vash never has actually gone further than fawning with somebody. Not when she's near. But it gives her an unsettled sort of sadness to see despite that.
She wants his attentions. Further than attentions, she craves the love of her closest companion. His gaze makes her tremble and yearn.
Watching him watch another causes her to tremble for completely different reasons. It must show, because she sees Meryl side eyeing her; her friend knows her moods rather well.
"This might drive me mad, Meryl." Gill sighs, allowing her head to lean and thud noislessly on the wood table she and the other girls sit at.
"Hey, it's nothing to worry about." Meryl tells her. "Vash is an oaf; he can't pull a woman."
"Except for you, of course." Milly chimes in. "Actually, I've heard a few people show interest in him. He's not somebody I'd say is my type, but he is a fairly attractive guy." Meryl kicks Milly's shin underneath the table, making her yelp; but then she does notice Gill's groan, muffled a little by the table. "Ah but of course you're the closest to him, they wouldn't stand a chance yknow !"
Meryl quickly tries to refocus the conversation to trying to pull Gill out of this little funk. "Point is, I'm sure he's not doing anything with her !" She frantically looks around, spotting Wolfwood nearby. "Wolfwood ! You were near them, right? You must've heard some of their talk."
Wolfwood glances to them, raising an eyebrow before walking to their group. "Heard who talking?"
"Vash and that woman. What was their conversation about?" Meryl clarifies.
"Ah, those guys." Wolfwood thinks and shrugs. "Couldn't hear much of it. Said something about finding somewhere more private to talk. Maybe they're getting it on." He adds with a shit eating cheeky smile. Meryl smacks him in the chest. "Oof ! What was that about !" When Meryl just jerks her head he follows the movement to Gill, slumped on the dirty table in complete dejection. He winces just slightly. "Well, what I mean is, um, hey the guys definitely a virgin not like he's got the skills to seduce someone outta nowhere, yeah?"
"Why am I the only one here who's got any sort of actual tact?" Meryl sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose.
Gill raises her head, dragging her hands across her face. "No, no, no, it's alright. Vash can do whatever he wants to. It's not like I have any justification to stop him from," she swallows. "Enjoying a night with someone he wants to take out, it wouldn't be right."
Wolfwood just scoffs. "Glad you're a bounty hunter; you definitely wouldn't cut it out there as an actress." Meryl stomps on his foot under the table. She ignores his cursing and groaning.
Meryl scoots her wooden chair a few inches, bringing herself closer. She leans forward, elbows on the small, round table. "Hey, listen now." Her voice is quiet, and she knows Meryl is doing her best to help her. "If you want my advice, jealousy can't get you that far. I know your reasons for not confessing, and I know I can't sway you on anything like that, I think you need a girls day. It's almost time to head to bed tonight; tomorrow we should head out and get your mind off of stupid guys."
Blond curtains of hair fall in Gill's vision, she chooses not to push them back. "That sounds good."
"Also besides," Milly adds. "We're not sure he likes this girl. Mr. Vash pays attention to anything the moves."
"Yeah, he has a tendency to." It makes secretly having a crush on him more taxing than it might be otherwise. "I know that he's not the type to pick random woman to seriously court, but it feels weird watching him play with anyone."
"Hm, I'd suggest asking. But, looks like he and the skirt are leaving." Wolfwood watches the door.
Gill swivels her neck, watching too the view of Vash guiding the woman outside. She deflates, emphasized by a pathetic groan. Ahe shields her face behind her knees, heels of her palms pressing behind them. A night out with a lady, and Vash hadn't said a word.
She's coaxed to her feet by Meryl. "It's hotel time. Come on, you should sleep a minute." And the four of them wander outside.
There's no Vash standing there. No gorgeous woman standing tall outside.
The night is well towards becoming dawn when she's back in her room in the hotel all of them are staying in. Meryl and Milly sleep comfortably in another bed. Great as a couple hours of shut eye seems, that's not what Gill finds; she feels her head leaned on the wall behind her, hugging her knees on her bed. The room next to her's is where Wolfwood and Vash are bunked together. She heard the sound of wolfwood settling in a while ago. She heard no greeting when he entered. She's heard no one new come in. She's heard no footsteps in the hallway. Nearly dawn, but she hasn't heard Vash. The stampede isn't at this hotel tonight.
Itd taken hours to fall asleep for the night earlier. Now, with the suns trecking across the sky above them, the girls gather in the lobby.
Gill sighs, again. Her head nestles into the cushion of the couch, edging closer to stone than soft. Meryl and Milly chat, and Gill chimes in when her attention isn't all on the hallway or the door. She never heard Vash return during the night earlier. She couldn't hear anything that told her he was in his room after she woke. Ignoring how she could hear Wolfwood moving about the room, she ponders if just maybe these walls are thicker than she'd first had thought. Perhaps he came back after she had dozed off.
Then she spots Wolfwood, yawning loudly as he walks out into the lobby. He lumbers to the unoccupied couch and drops onto the cushion. "Good morning, girls." He raises a hand in greeting.
Gill can't help herself but notice that Vash hasn't walked out as well. Her eyes flick back to the hallway then back to her friend. The other girls greet him back. "Good morning." She says. She is proud she can wait about six seconds before adding after. "Did Vash come back yesterday?"
Wolfwood slides his gaze to land on her. He raises an eyebrow with a knowing look she wants to rub off him. "Yeah, he did." He watches her shoulders fall in vast relief. "Though, it was only a couple of hours ago. Tried sneaking in."
She's glad he came back. The idea that he snuck in hours after everyone had fallen asleep for the night did unsettle her. She couldn't help imagining what he had been doing during the night that kept him away.
That's when the object of her obsession emerges. His hair is extra mused, he must've only slept a couple hours. He walks into the lobby but she realizes he's already heading out of the hotel. "Hey, Vash !" Her voice leaves without stopping to think, she calls to him because she can't bear to see him just walk out without saying anything to them, though mostly herself. She gets off the couch, walking towards him.
Does she hallucinate the way he cringes? He pivots and smiles to her. But his eyes flickered towards the door; he does want to leave quick. "Hey, Gill, good morning !" What made him return hours ago just to leave immediately without greeting his companions?
She feels like she's about to trip standing in a single spot. "Where are you going now?" She tries to not sound as if she's accusing him; because she's not she just feels like she's going crazy.
He's not locking eyes. Whenever they talk Vash almost always makes profound eye contact with her; it makes her feel as if his mere presence could swallow her whole. It makes her never able to look away. He makes eye contact across campfires, in crowded places, in comfortable silences; his eyes feel like her haven. Right then, he wouldn't let her see them. "Just, um, out?" It's more question than a response.
She frowns, and he sees that and tenses. He looks a bit nervous; his head is fully turned from her. "Want company? If you're just taking a walk?" That's what they do. Whenever they're together as traveling companions, they rarely are separated. Asking to go out together isn't uncommon.
He squeaks. "Uh, no, thats not necessary ! I'm just stretching these legs !" He kicks out his legs in a strange bit of movement. Quickly he lets words just drop out of him in a waterfall. He continues without giving any opportunity for any responses. "Yup be back later gotta head out not that I'm heading anywhere talk later see you guys, later !" And he's using those deft legs to be out the door already.
Gill feels steel weights settle onto her, arms limp at her sides. He's obviously doing something. Her mind turns wicked and takes her theorizing towards the woman from the saloon hours ago.
Meryl sighs, standing. Her clicking heels indicate her walking to Gill. "I think that girls day is calling for us."
It is a lovely day for walking in town. Their small group meanders by shops; the four of them, girls day does also include Wolfwood, have no goal but getting Gill to somehow quit thinking of Vash and new ladies.
The shops are fairly modest. They hold nice looking items at decent prices and it makes for interesting shopping. Gill starts finding herself getting swept into the outing, sun kissed hair a deep blue gazes never quite leaving her thoughts. She does enjoy herself, though. Just that her friends want to ease her funk makes her happy.
They chat of mindless topics. Little tidbits and banter fuel their conversations. There's never a drought in interesting subjects when they talk.
A dress shop stands amidst the various buildings; it was a store they'd walked by yesterday already. Then, they'd taken a glimpse inside and just laid eyes on the remarkably well produced outfits they held. They had a variety of styles and accessories to pair with them. It was the kind of shop she particularly enjoyed.
"Hey, isn't this where they had that dress you'd been eyeing before?" Milly asked her. She was right; Gill had spotted a particularly tempting dress here. Purple with a nice, soft looking fabric; it's skirt flared out under a bodice that stuck to the torso and accents of pale pink added emphasis. Milly continued then. "Huh, it'd been in the window, yeah? I can't see it right now." She looked to a dress less manquin where the dress had sat.
The shopkeeper happened to come outside and overheard. "Ah, sorry, dears; sold that dress earlier. Some blond guy and a lady; hadn't taken him for someone with an eye for fashion, though I guess that red coat wasn't too shabby if a little torn, but his companion sure did seem it." He chuckled to himself. "Anyway, we've got some similar ones if you wanted to look inside too."
It would've been more polite to thank him and perhaps actually look. However, Gill was simply stuck on who he'd said purchased that dress. A blonde man. A red coat. A fashionista companion. Had Vash come here with that woman? Had he bought her that beautiful dress as a present to her? Was it a date he'd run off on with her?
Meryl remembered manners faster than Gill managed. "Thank you, sir; we’re good." As the man shrugged and walked back inside of his shop, Meryl guided her friend away. "Listen, there's plenty of blonde idiots running around. I doubt it was our idiot."
"You think?" Milly said, clueless. "What a coincidence this man also was wearing a red coat like Mr. Vash."
She was swiftly quieted by Meryl, but Gill simply sighed. She knew it was Vash.
She started wandering away. "Excuse me a bit, yall." She said, walking a distance aways to a semi secluded spot at the entrance to an alley.
A few seconds, soft, slow footsteps let her know Meryl followed her. She approached the spot Gill leaned back on, shaded by cool shadows above. "Hey." She started, a little unsure. Meryl did best as an academic but sometimes faltered with more social things. "It's alright."
Gill blew out a soft breath. "He bought it with that woman."
Meryl frowned, coming beside her. She waited a few seconds, probably trying to figure out what to say. "Sorry; I guess I'm not doing great at girls day and distracting you from him."
Gill shook her head. "You're doing good, Meryl. I mean it, girls day is making me happy. You know it's nothing simple to make me forget about him."
Meryl huffed. "I definitely do." She turned her head to regard Gill, looking like she wanted to say more.
Making a lazy motion of her hand, Gill prompted Meryl to speak. "You can say whatever you'd like."
Chewing her cheek, Meryl took a few seconds to continue. "I've never felt the way you do for Vash. Not as intensely, anyway. And I know you can't control who you fall for, but is it worth it? Loving him and watching him constantly flirting with anything that moves, all while not saying anything to him?"
The dirt seemed to draw Gill's gaze. She was quiet for a few glaring seconds. "It always is." She says, voice soft. "I can't find any part of myself that would wish to get rid of these feelings. I know that Vash is a tricky man, always running from himself as much as anything but I just can't not be in love either. He's precious to me; anything I can do to be near him is worth it. Feeling jealous is just part of that for me."
Meryl sighs, tilting her head to lean it back on the cool wall. "I know." The question was obvious. "But, you are upset." It's unmistakable.
Gill again stays silent; then, her fists ball and press their heels into her closed eyes. "I feel awful for getting jealous. He and I are not a couple, and we're not any closer to it than yesterday. I can't claim him in that way right now. It's selfish for me to feel possessive of somebody like Vash. If he wants to become close to someone and to fall for them I should encourage him as a friend but the slightest idea of it fills me with disgust. I'm such a terrible traveling companion." Tears well and drip from behind her hands. She wants to encourage him. In this way though, she can not support her precious partner.
Meryl knew how much her friend adored her crush. To her, a woman living behind her desk, her papers, and her mind, matters of romance were not her favorite. But Gill was ruled by passion. She loves and she fuels herself on that intensity. Everyday since she’d met him, Meryl knows one man has held her precious emotions in his dumb hands. “You are not. You’re just jealous everyone gets that way now and then, you know. You’re tough, and you’re beautiful, and you’re impressive; nobody I know is the same as you. He’s likely just going to back away from her. Like you just said, he can’t yet make himself stay in place for five little seconds.”
“Yeah, I realize.” Gill sucks her lip. Her waterworks dry along her cheeks. “Should Vash decide to date someone else, though, I wonder if I could stand to travel with either of them.” She smiles. “Thank you, Meryl, for talking to me, always.”
Meryl smiles too. “Anything for the person who makes my job easier.” She lightly jokes, poking at her.
That draws a chuckle out. “Well, I am an expert Vash handler.”
“Better than anyone.” Meryle snickers along.
They stand there quietly together, shoulders bumping into each other. From within the building next door, they hear voices shout; as they both look, a figure is seen within the window, and then crashes out the window. In a splash of broken glass, Vash flies out onto his back right before the girls.
“Vash !?” Gill squeaks, freezing.
He groans, blinking the blur from his eyes. His stare is drawn to Gill. Though he was just knocked out of a window, his face twists curiously at her. “Were you crying?” He asks quietly.
Someone yells nearby. “Get the humanoid typhoon boys, hurry !” A voice from the now destroyed window; several men appear in the cracked frames.
Vash is quick scurrying on to his feet. One hand grabs each girl, and he drags them both around the nearest corner making them scramble as well. The second they’re around it, a flurry of shots follow.
“Vash, who’re they?” Gill spins, attention split listening for his attackers and searching him too.
Vash looks flustered. His neck cranes about, making sure those guys aren’t following. “Um, well, right. I sorta met this woman.” He isn’t watching the twitch of Gill’s lips. “She told me she’s been coerced by these men, and asked me to help protect her a bit. Uh, the men found her, and me, and now they’re pissed. She’s safe. I’m gonna run !” He spots those guys, skidding around the corner with pistols aimed his way.
“What?” Meryl just cocks her head. Mentally, she drafts her newest report.
Vash runs off, the men not paying the two women any attention while focused just on him. The party crashes their way along the street. Scandalized voices pursue them.
For a minute, the girls are simply staring behind those guys. Gill turns, not speaking, and drops her hands onto Meryl’s shoulders letting herself deflate with a sigh like a weight was lifted. It wasn’t a date; the selfless outlaw was bodyguarding that woman. Then, she removes her pistols and pivots to help her companion not get snatched.
“And those guys were forcing her to do stuff and she couldn’t get them to leave, which is why she saw you and got you alone to request your assistance; but not wanting them to figure out she got herself help, she asked you not to tell anybody which is why you’d been acting odd?” Gill clarified, the campfire pleasantly giving off it’s smokey smell and lighting the two of them where they sat nearby.
Vash nods. “Yup, basically it. Ah, was I that odd?” He seems sheepish, rubbing his neck.
Gill looses a low breath. She’s extremely satisfied hearing Vash say he was only helping her. Now she can definitely see there’s no deeper motivations. His flirting stopped at that bar. The woman had thoroughly thanked him, relieved when he managed to take out that gang and trying to find a way to repay him; but she too hadn’t seemed to actually be interested in him aside from her gratitude either. Vash obviously wouldn’t allow her to do anything. Now, she feels sort of dumb, allowing jealousy to overtake her feelings, but she hadn’t been able to temper it. “Just sort of.” She shakes her head with a grin.
Something nags in her thoughts, though. Her hands fiddle subtly.
Vash spots the hesitation. “Something bugging ya?”
“Ah, just, uh, a question.” She cough, shifting in place some. “We wandered by that one dress shop, and heard you bought that neat dress from them. You’re not a dress kinda guy, I was just curious what you got it for.” Ugh, this feels awkward, she shouldn’t pry but she has to ask him it.
Vash stares for a couple seconds, then his eyes fly wide open and he makes a high noise. “I almost forgot !” He yells out; spinning at his waist, he reaches back into his bag and searches inside to pull out a wrapped brown package. He presents the parcel towards her. “Here, open it.”
Slowly, somewhat unsure, she takes the package. Peeling away the paper, she peeks inside it. Lovely purple cloth greets her. “Did you buy the dress just for me?” She breathes, surprised.
He flushes. “Saw you eyeing it. I could tell it’d look amazing on you too.” He looks away, appearing just a bit adorably shy.
Gill feels something stir within herself. She’d been sure he’d gotten this dress to gift to someone, but she hadn’t considered he’d bought it only for her. Her expression shifts into a big smile. Setting the dress safely aside, she leaps at Vash and throws her arms onto him, wrapping him in a giggly, loving hug. “Thank you, Vash.” She whispers into the crook of his warm throat.
He carefully kept both of them steady. Then, surprised expression becoming incredibly gentle, returns the embrace. “Yeah, for sure, anything for my favorite girl, always.”
The air is cool. Pleasant, night chills settle inside the bedroom, yet Vash feels comfortably warm. Because he has his wife, securely cuddled on his chest held into his side. His right arm tucks under her and wraps around to rub her back in slow caresses. Gill’s asleep for the night, cute breaths fanning along the exposed neckline of his loose tanktop. Vash stares at the ceiling, other arm propped behind his head. It’s not restless but just not yet tired enough to sleep also.
Why that memory came to him, he’s not positive; he remembers her feelings, though. He'd experienced Gill’s memories, witnessed all the occasions he’d made her feel jealous with his behavior. Definitely not anything he’d wanted, and he’s repeatedly pinched himself for being too dumb to not realize. But, she’s wiped any bitter feelings away; but actually he already knows she’d never felt bitter, she’d already forgiven it. He’s relieved, and now he thinks it’s silly either of them felt that way.
He turns his head, lips brushing her hair while he smiled lovingly at Gill. His hand drifted lower, knuckles brushing the soft curve of her belly, just beginning to show their first baby. Jealousy was unnecessary, he was certain; since he knew, in any universe, in any place, the only person for him is her.

Title - Paper Tigers (Vash the Stampede x reader)
Note -- Thanks for your likes for previous part of my x reader guys! I love you, it means a lot of to me x3 Sorry it’s not so detailed.
Summary - Y/n and Vash are good friends since childhood. Once Rem decide to teach boys and you how to make a origami butterflies. You and your family escaped a collapsed ship shortly before the boys and Rem sacrifices herself, you hoped that Rem escapes with Vash and his older brother. Some time later, you and your family living far from Jeneora Rock, your mother died two years ago and you're get depressed because of this. Y/n studied as archivist in college but she didn't get a change to continue study a higher education cause she haven't enough money for studying. Y/n headed to JuLai City, she get caught in the center of the sandstorm, while she decide to wait until the sandstorm is over in the abandoned Tower nearby. Meantime, Vash, Meryl, Roberto and Nicholas as well get in the same problem and walked into Tower as well after you. When Vash and Y/n meet up after a long time, they're recognize each other barely but after introduction Y/n and Vash, they're happy to see each other again. When sandstorm is over, Vash made a tiger origami for Y/n as a gift also some other origami for Meryl x3 Part Two of my story. Paper tigers by Thrice.
Some years later.
-------------------------------------------
A large thunderhead clouds appeared in the sky, Vash, Meryl, Roberto and Nicholas notices the that sandstorm is arisen. They're waited in the car until the sandstorm is over. Some hours ago, sandstorm was over and Roberto noticed the tower in the distance.
Vash suggested to his friends that they could stay the night in the tower. Meryl wasn't sure that this is a good idea but Roberto and Nicholas didn't mind that. Everyone got out of the car and stepped onto the soft sand of the desert and headed towards the tower.
All four of them entered the tower and climbed the spiral staircase to the top. Vash trace the wall with his metallic arm, is this tower is really abandoned? Suddenly they are noticed someone over the table sitting on the chair. A girl glanced at the strangers with a worry.
"It was a long time since anyone comes here, well if not counting me. Who are you?" Y/n stands up from the chair and walked closer to Vash. Y/n glanced at a blonde guy carefully, he seems familiar to her. Vash wind up his hand, "Hello, we're not going to hurt you, me and my friends just want to stay the night here. My name is Vash." He made a warming smile.
"Vash?" Y/n asks.
"Y/n?" Vash blinked his eyes in surprise, then his lips curved into a smile.
"Yes, I am. Glad to see you again, bro." You rushed towards him with a tight hug, Vash hugs you back gently.
"I'm sorry I never checked on you or the way I never letting you know how I am doing." Vash replied.
"You can tell me now. Introduce me to your friends, I want to know about them too. Welcome to a abandoned archive! I'm a archivist assistant now by the way." she said proudly.
"Where's real archivist then?" Wolfwood snapped at you.
"That's rude insulting a person, Wolfwood!" Meryl burns in anger.
"I'm going to meet with him in Julai City." Y/n answers.
"This is Meryl and this is Roberto and Wolfwood. Guys, this is my childhood friend, Y/n." Vash said.
"My name is Meryl Stryfe. I'm reporter." Meryl said.
"Nice to meet you, Meryl. I like your style." Y/n said.
"Thanks. Nice to me you too." Meryl said.
"Hello, kiddo." Roberto shakes your hand.
"Nice to meet you too, Roberto." Y/n smiled.
"Nicholas D. Wolfwood." Nicholas wanted to shake your hand too but you doubted for a second and then shake his hand.
"Are you hungry, guys? I have some food here." Archivist assistant said.
"That would be great." Vash nodded.
Time skip
After dinner
"Do you still love making origami?" Vash asked you.
"Yes, I still do." Y/n replied.
"Origami is for kids, bookworm." Nicholas mocked you.
"Origami is art so don't judge someone else's opinion so rude!" Meryl protests.
"Bookworm, huh?" Y/n snorts.
"Wolfwood loves making nicknames, don't be offended by that." Vash calms you down.
"Okay, why not try to make some origami guys?" Y/n asked.
"I'm in." Roberto spoke.
"I think I have something in mind." Meryl said.
"Okay, I'll give your some paper." Y/n smiled excitedly.
"If you thinking that origami is for kids then I think it wouldn't be so hard to you, right?" Y/n teased Nicholas.
"That girl is messing with me, okay!" Wolfwood joined them.
"I'll make one for you Meryl." Vash glanced at her with a smile.
Meryl turned her head to him, then turned away blushing. "Uhm, what you going to make for me?" She asked.
"This is a surprise, wait until I'm made it." Vash said. Y/n giggles, she adores these two together. You started making a spider like origami while Roberto started his bottle like origami, Meryl making a flower origami. Vash also finished a tiger origami for Y/n and started to make a star origami for Meryl and Nicholas try to make something like a cross.
"Is this good one, how do you think, Meryl?" Roberto asked to a young reporter.
"Is this a bottle? Oh, Roberto!" Meryl rolled her eyes.
"Roberto love to drink, isn't it? Hey, Roberto that's good." Y/n making a joke.
Nicholas get confused with his origami and you helped him a bit.
"Meryl, I made a star origami for you, do you like it?" Vash holding his origami and giving it to her.
She clapped her hands in delight, "Vash! This is so beautiful, thank you!" Meryl hiding origami inside her notepad.
"I glad you liked it." Vash smiled.
"Would you like my flower origami as a gift to you?" Meryl asked.
"Sure." Vash nodded.
Meryl giving a Tulip flower origami to Vash. In the language of flowers that flower represents affection and love. Vash thanked Meryl and said that her origami is wonderful. Nicholas said that he's going to keep his origami for himself. Roberto giving you his origami as a gift as well.
"Okay, pals. How about to give yourself a good sleep?" Vash suggested.
"Good idea." Y/n agrees.
Before get asleep Vash and Y/n wanted to get a conversation face to face. Meryl was curious and wanted to go with you but Roberto stopped her. "Let them talk without prying eyes."
"Hey, Vash thank you for your origami. And could you tell me what happened recently?" Y/n get serious.
"That's tough to explain, what you want to know first?" Vash shrugged his shoulders.
"What happened to Nai?" you asked.
"It's Knives now." Vash replied coldly.
"Tell me please." Y/n laid her hand on his shoulder.
"He's killed some of townspeople at Jeneora Rock. It was awful... I couldn't do anything." you could hear how he sobbed softly.
"It's not your fault, buddy." Y/n hugged him from the back since Vash turns away.
"I had bad days lately but I glad I met Meryl, Roberto and Nicholas and I glad to see you again too." He make a small smile.
"Brace yourself. I know that this will be hard to us both but I want to know. What happened to Rem?"
Tears flowing down his face as you glanced at him. "When ship collapsed she's stayed there but send us away. I didn't see her ever again."
"I'm so sorry, Vash." You stroke his hair gently.
"So you going to Julai City too? Please be careful." His voice cracked.
"I'll be okay." You assured Vash.
You both look at the night sky full of stars. Vash walked away after some minutes. On the way back, Meryl sees that Vash cried and then she walked to you. "Vash cried? Why?" Meryl asked.
"He missing Rem." you replied.
"Who is Rem?" Meryl asked again.
"Rem rised Vash and his brother Knives when they're were kids. She sacrificed herself and died." You told her.
"He get through a lot of bad things. Poor Vash." Meryl sighed.
"Yeah, it's already late, you have to go to bed now. I'll show you your room." Y/n spoke.

*the camera is tilted upward to show vash clinging to a redwood tree very very far from the ground*
wolfwood: how's it working out for you up there my guy
vash, whining: don't be meeean that was a very big mosquito and I have a very strong startle reflex. if it had been a real threat I'd be up here laughing and you'd be down there being eaten, so there
wolfwood: yuh huh, sure, spiky, sure. Comin' down now or do you want to hug that tree a little longer?
vash: gimme a sec--yeep!
*the camera blurs as wolfwood struggles to track vash's rapid descent from the tree but there is only a streak of red, the sound of vash yelping, and, finally, a crash*
wolfwood: holy mother--are you alive?!
*the camera focuses and vash, draped over a pile of moss covered logs, gives a feeble thumbs up. a moment later a large piece of bark falls and smacks him on the head*
vash, whimpering: I want to go home, maman, s'il vous plaît
*the scene cuts to vash standing at the base of the tree looking scuffed up and rumpled, his glasses sitting crooked on his nose*
vash: ahem! I was recently informed that people leave comments on these videos, which surprised me. I thought it was mostly the cops and, like, fbi who looked at these.
wolfwood: people always have somethin' to say about witnessing a walking disaster
vash, making an angry face: ANYWAY. This was brought to my attention by--well, naming no names, I can tell you she's a real stunner. Knock you right off your feet if given the chance. This lovely lady, too good for this sinful world, has kindly compiled what she believes to be the best comments and questions. Here we go.
wolfwood: please, dear viewers, understand that this creature before you can be explained neither scientifically or religiously. Don't expect to experience clarity today.
vash:, holding up a paper with the questions written on it it's called mystique. First question: "Mr. The Stampede, why is the guy behind the camera called--"
*breaking off, vash presses his fist to his mouth and makes high-pitched noises that nearly pass beyond human hearing*
wolfwood: I've got a bad feeling about this
vash: "why is--why is the guy behind the camera called . . . 'woof woof'?"
*sitting down on the ground, vash bursts into obnoxious laughter, pounding his fist on the ground. the camera tilts and shakes*
wolfwood, sputtering: that's not--that's not what I'm called! Mary, mother of Christ, that is not--
*the scene cuts. vash is back on his feet, facial expression strained as he struggles to remain solemn*
vash: I have been instructed to clarify that my assistant behind the camera is not named 'woof woof', has never been called 'woof woof', and never will be called 'woof woof'.
wolfwood: it's because you keep starting to say my name and stammering when you cut yourself off. This is your fault, needle-noggin, and I'm gonna take it out of your hide later, I swear.
vash, coughing: there's a second part of this question, um, "is he called that because he's a furry?"
*vash collapses to the ground again, shrieking with laughter*
wolfwood: a what
vash: a furry is a--it's a--
wolfwood: I know what a furry is!
vash: from--from personal experience?
wolfwood: no!
*vash rolls around laughing, kicking his legs. the camera jolts up and down while wolfwood marches over and snatches up the list of questions*
wolfwood: aw, geez, they really asked that, you didn't make it up. I can't believe the big girl did this to me--would you shut up?!
vash, shrieking from pain this time: don't kick the messenger when he's down, woof woof!
wolfwood: no, no, no, no. this is not going to be a thing. I will end you, I will shoot you right through your spiky head, I will--
*the scene cuts to vash laying face-down on the forest floor, limp and lifeless. cigarette smoke is puffing from behind the camera and wolfwood's hand can be seen gesturing*
wolfwood: the person who asked that question, I don't know who you are, I don't know what you want. If you are looking for blackmail money, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career, skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. I will find you, and I will kill you. Buh-by.

Hello, saw you were doing match ups so wondered if you'd do one for me, with trigun characters
I'm an 160cm thin girl (20 y/o) with long brown curly hair and blue eyes, kinda look like merida from brave if that helps, enfp
I'm a lot like 98' vash (my biggest ever kin fr), goofing around and having fun, making dirty jokes with my friends, very clumsy and bubbly when in good mood, tho i don't shy away from being tough from time to time
I'm friendly and like meeting new people but keeping connections is my biggest flaw. I mostly keep it going with the ones i click with
I love being around people, but don't mind being alone for some periods of time, reading, watching something, drawing or doing whatever hobby i picked on
I'm an archeology student, have passion for history and literature, love psychology and philosophy, love things like true crime and paranormal stories, definitely would like to travel and see what the world and people have to offer. I'm the "do it for the plot" type of person, getting into random situations for the sake of seeing how it'll end and if i'll have a story in the end
When i was younger i was more like some kind of vash-milly combo, but now I'm more aware of people, i can't stand when someone is judgy from the beggining, when someone is too negative about the world and people, because even tho i myself get disappointed in people often, i still think that we should look for positive things in everyday life. Kind of "if life has no meaning, might as well find meaning in small things"
Sorry if this was too long, thank you if you've read this far ^^ and keep up with the good writing, you're doing amazing!
UWAAAA I'm so glad you like my writing! I've been swamped with work lately, so sorry this is taking a while!!
For trigun 98, I most definitely match you up with Wolfwood! You are just that little ray of sunshine he needs to keep going. Plus, he loves that you and him make sex jokes to each other about everything that you can. You two get kidnapped and held by Knives? Non-stop dick jokes. At first you try to at least mutter them under your breath, but soon enough you're both just spouting them out as fast as you can think of them. Knives is just standing there in shock that you can think of so many in a short amount of time. I also think you two would be like, surprisingly close beforehand. He a big cuddler too (have you fucking seen those titties MMMMM) and I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL BUT WOLFWOOD IS TERRIFIED OF GHOSTS!!! Yall go ghost hunting and he is ATTACHED TO YOU LIKE NO OTHER. Homie is throwing round the holy water like he's a raincloud. You one day dig up and old book and are pretty sure that its haunted? He's hiding being his giant cross and shaking in his tight ass pants.
In trigun stampede however, Vash latches onto you like white on rice. You are exactly what this poor bean needs in his life!!!! You teach him to appreciate the little things, and show him that he's allowed to have wants and needs. He enjoys taking you around old crashed spaceships and letting you go wild with the archeological zoomies. In this universe, you also get kidnaped by Knives so Vash follows to come and save you and once again, you make so many dick jokes. The only difference is that Stampede Knives has never seen a wiener in his LIFE and doesn't get any joke you make. Do with this information what you will. Vash also really likes showing you his Plant siblings when his spilled the alien beans. You'd probably enjoy just quietly hanging with the Plant girlies because they just watch you draw or read or they nap! they are very nice when you need to recharge a social battery but don't want to be completely alone. Vash is also a big cuddler and understands having trouble keeping connections with people!! He's always moving so he gets sad thinking about all the people he wanted to grow closer too.
If we wanted to hit up the manga, then id actually pair you with Legato! I think you'd be just the right person to help him let himself be a better and softer person. Your love of psychology would really interest him, and I think you'd be that enemies-to tolerated-to friends-to lovers thing. He also likes learning about humans and the past, and I think that's he would really appreciate you showing him to good side of humanity through psychology and even true crime by showing how people come together and how people react to catastrophe and stress. He needs to see people doing good things, and you are just the person to show him around the world and prove it to him
ALSO SORRY THIS IS LIKE MONTHS LATE I got another job and started school SOBS!!! But I hope you enjoy!!!!

Trimax Vol.2
Hello! I’ve been lurking in the book club so far but I wanted to jump in the ring and add my own thoughts to the mix. Fun fact: I actually binge read the manga about two weeks, but read it so fast I didn’t absorb much. I’m taking this as an opportunity to read it more slowly and really savor it, and hopefully understand it a little more. My first experience was fun, but I was also a little confused by the end.
I certainly can’t compare to some of amazing analyses I’ve read so far, but here are some thoughts!
Ch1
WOW. What an opening. This only gets more horrifying on reread. I was actually very confused the first go around because I thought Midvalley was the one shoving all those people in the trucks and squashing them and my knowledge of him from 98 did NOT fit this at all. It was a great way to reintroduce Legato though
I’m STILL wondering who this giant person is that’s carrying Legato around in his Iron Maiden. Just another Knives minion I guess?? They got put on Legato babysitting duty
Ch2
Well, Legato is somehow more unhinged than before
Genuinely sometimes feel like Legato mauling that steak when I’m reading this manga though
Love when Vash and Wolfwood are being stupid together. Also Vash driving is me when I drive
Vash’s ridiculous greeting Rai Dei is preceded by him having a Very Serious moment staring at the empty town. I appreciate the ability this manga has to insert moments of humor into otherwise incredibly serious situations without it being jarring. 10/10 great character and storytelling
Death skull rollerblades??? Death skull rollerblades!!!
I really like this panel of Vash, right after Rai Dei reveals he knows about the colony. Something about how most of his face is obscured, it really underscores how terrifying Vash can be. Every time something he loves is threatened, he gets very, very scary very fast and the way Nightow shows this is just amazing
Tumblr media
Ch3
The cover for this chapter is on point
Not actually sure what Wolfwood is saying here? He’s going to help Vash…because the Gung Ho Guns are inhuman humans? They’re too determined and this will take too long?
Vash acrobatics!! Big fan of Vash acrobatics!!
He just won a fight but he’s such a goofball about it
Tumblr media
Ch4
“C’mon. Leading a normal life, it’s not so bad, y’know.” He’s speaking from experience and this line makes me kinda sad. He really liked it, but he had to give it up to do the right thing :(
You know, for some of the backstories of the Gung Ho Guns, it makes sense where they got their abilities from. Like Monev and Rai Dei obviously trained for years and years to become these expert fighters. But for the others, like Dominique and Legato, I’m constantly wondering where they picked up what are essentially supernatural abilities without being plants or something. Though this may just be the fact that I saw tristamp first talking, since they do explain that there.
WHAT? How did I not notice Rai Dei had a gunblade??? My favorite ridiculous anime weapon
Also, uh oh Wolfwood’s done it now
Holy shit, did Vash just punch him?!?!
Hmmmm, oh yes, this scene made me lose my mind when I first read it (last week lol). Wolfwood trying to prove a point about making tough decisions by making Vash literally put a gun to his head and calling Vash a coward for refusing to kill and get his hands dirty
Unfortunately, it also confuses the hell out of me because it feels like they’re having multiple conversations at once and I can’t pick up on maybe more than half of one.
But!! The thing that stands out to me: Vash calls Wolfwood out, saying that he knows he’s better than this, that he wants better than this, but he’s so scared of hoping that he becomes a devil instead. I love how these two really see each other. Even when Wolfwood is kinda scared of Vash, he’s trying to understand him more than anything, and though he struggles, he does see him and get him
On a lighter note…Ahhh yes, the girls are back!! I’ve missed them the past few chapters.
Ch5
Oh no, Wolfwood’s dream :( It makes me so, so sad. He just really doesn’t think there’s any way for him to go back or wash his hands clean
The tone shifts are honestly masterful. Wolfwood goes from having a horrible nightmare to slapstick comedy because Vash crashed Angelina again
Gotta love that Wolfwood just dumps Vash facedown on that couch
Oh my god, Vash, you have a concussion, what are you doing!! Why did Wolfwood just leave him there on his own? I know they haven’t spent that much time together, but does Wolfwood not know him at all? Vash will get into Situations if left to his own devices.
Hmmm, Rob’s situation really underscores the argument Vash and Wolfwood were having last chapter. Especially his father’s line about not everyone being able to gamble with their lives so easily
Jesus, Wolfwood is terrified of Vash. I thought on my first read that this is a bit of an overreaction to this situation, but thinking on it again, after Fifth Moon and seeing all the crazy shit Vash can do, it has to be scary to see a guy who’s hurt and reeling and still manages to cause massive damage. So yeah, can’t really blame him for wondering what kind of monster he’s gotten himself involved with
But then he’s reminded…Vash is also just some silly guy who really likes food. Ah, the duality of man and monster. Again, the tone shift from Wolfwood having serious thoughts of fear and doubt to Vash being a certified goofball.
Ch6
The opening of this chapter is great. We get a little bit of Wolfwood’s backstory and start to understand how dark it is. Who shot him as a child? Where did he come from? But also, we find out he has a deep conviction to stay alive
You know, I completely forgot Rei Dei threatened the colony two chapters ago because for a hot sec I was really confused why they’d been traveling so hard and why the hell they’re on this weird contraption right now.
What’s interesting to me about what Wolfwood says here—about living his life the way he does, about the reason he kills—is because he’s doing it to protect something. Just reminds me of that bit of Stampede where Vash asks Wolfwood if he has something he wants to protect above anything else. And how protect has a different meaning to each of them—for Wolfwood it’s about who he’d kill for and for Vash it’s about what he would do to save them. Idk, there might be more there but I’m having a hard time explaining it.
Vash has a moment of doubt in front of Wolfwood! He admits he’s not always sure of what he’s doing. I kind of read Wolfwood’s silence as him not knowing what to say to that because he wasn’t expecting that
Okay, but how hidden is this place really if there’s a platform and an elaborate construction to get into it. Are you telling me no one has stumbled on it before and wondered where it led?
Vash is so afraid when he opens the door! His first thought is of all the horrors his enemies have promised to him and he doesn’t know if he can face it
Tumblr media
Look at him!! He’s so sweet! He’s relieved and immediately goes to play with the kids. (While Wolfwood just poses lol)
Oh god, he gets teary eyed, he’s so happy! How rarely have people reacted to his presence with joy or care?
How dare!! This was cruel. Crueler then if he’d walked in on corpses. He’s literally given something he wants so deeply and then has it snatched away
Ch7
Wolfwood really went, “I’m done listening to your bullshit” and interrupted Leonof’s evil villain speech. Respect.
Ooooh, Wolfwood did it because he was angry. He felt Leonof was too cruel! He cares so much about Vash already.
Hey um so…did Leonof just say his puppets used to be people?!?! That he dissected while they were alive?!?!?! Yeah, no wonder this guy is unimaginably cruel.
Oh, Vash is angry. I love how he’s drawn when he’s like this. He disappears behind his glasses and his face gets very still. That’s when you know he means business.
Vash is crying blood!? And he’s so angry he’s emanating some weird aura that paralyzes Wolfwood and emits a “sensation of death.” I’m actually having trouble finding the words to describe how I feel because this is a very different Vash from the one we’re used to. It’s jarring and terrifying to see him like this. And that feeling also reminds Wolfwood again that Vash isn’t human, something Wolfwood is very fixated on.
Despite that, when Gray the Ninelives appears and Wolfwood makes eye contact with Vash, he doesn’t immediately go to shooting him! We’re making progress already.
That’s that for this volume! Excited to get started on the next one and see how the big showdown with Leonof goes!

Liveblog: Rewatching Trigun, Episode 10
-- I'm singing along with the intro music...
-- Who is Vash talking/narrating to? Not that I'm complaining. Tell me everything!
-- Bedhead Vash = adorbs!
-- Wow, Vash talks to birds! Just like a Disney princess!
He's not very good at it, though. They just fly away.
-- It's appropriate he calls it the mayfly of love because mayflies are delicate and don't last long...and probably hard to catch... (Ok, obvious metaphor is obvious; I probably didn't even need to say anything...)
-- Ah, there's that meditation line that's been bothering me so much.
Life and love in 3 seconds. Those are topics you can devote your whole life to, and every lovingkindness meditation I'm familiar with takes longer than 3 seconds, just saying.
-- Dead girlfriend named Eileen? Clearly he was making things up, but how much was based on truth?
-- Vash missed his chance to sing Michelle Ma Belle.
-- Talking about a dead girlfriend and introducing yourself as the Humanoid Typhoon...yeah, that's not gonna get you a date.
Ouch. Shut down.
-- "A lecture! You've got to be pretty lame to take that kind of abuse." Ouch.
-- Aaaaand cock-blocked by Wolfwood, lol. Isn't knocking the table over a bit extra, though?
-- "It's a long story, even though it's kind of a short one." A Wolfwood classic
-- lol, Wolfwood imitating the voice and even the facial expressions of the criminal. I want to hear him tell more stories.
-- Wolfwood certainly likes getting all up in Vash's personal space. Trying to make him uncomfortable so he'll give in faster, or what?
-- Why is Vash acting so reluctant to help? I mean, it fits because he seemingly gets dragged into dangerous situations a lot. But this is exactly the sort of thing he’s been volunteering to do. Is he enjoying Wolfwood laying it on thick and guilt tripping him?
-- "Will you treat me to something?" "I'll have to think about it." Yep, there's Millie trying to scrounge and Vash not liking to say no.
-- "You haven't got a single clue, have you?" What does Millie mean?
-- That guy has the best trenchcoat. Too bad he’s just a bit character in this one episode.
-- Who is that man behind the curtain? Is he going to appear in a future episode?
Tumblr media
-- Apparently Vash has blood type O. I know blood type is symbolic in Japanese culture...what does that say about him?
-- If Vash didn't want to be part of the competition, and is concerned about his reputation causing problems, why enter as himself? Why not make up a pseudonym/alias?
-- Can’t explain further, I just love this dialogue: "Aw, come on, you planned it from the start." "But I apologized."
-- "There you go smiling again. Looks good on you." That's so sweet I'm even grinning and blushing now.
#they’re at their best together #and when they smile I smile and melt like a squishy marshmallow
-- Wolfwood catching the girls eavesdropping, lol. Vash is usually the one to notice things. Guess he didn't want to make things awkward. Wolfwood doesn't gaf.
-- Oh Meryl, you've got to learn to express your feelings. What if Milly isn't there to act as your mouthpiece?
-- Oh, Milly, the life of the party. Just how much did she take off?
So far we have Wolfwood as the storyteller of the group and Milly as the wild one. Meryl is probably the Mom friend. Vash is the one who leads them into trouble adventures and has to get them back out.
-- "How come you're good?" Milly has a way with words. (And a good point).
-- Did Vash drink too much deliberately in order to lower his own acuity so his shooting skills would stand out less? Then blame Wolfwood for getting him "plastered?"
Notice that he suddenly stops wobbling around blurry-eyed and just goes for it once everyone can see how good a shot he is. The camouflage is no longer necessary.
-- "You really are the humanoid typhoon." I'm onto you Wolfwood, this is just an excuse to put your hand on his shoulder and get up in his personal space again.
-- I love how Vash turns the tables on Wolfwood and signs him up, too.
-- Vash threw that stone before the gun even went off. He knew where the bullet would go before the gun even fired.
-- I love how Vash interferes with all the other fights. And Wolfwood knows, lol. They almost look like conspirators.
Tumblr media
See what I mean?
-- How did they both do the Tabasco sauce trick at the same time without coordinating it? Did they plan this beforehand or are they just that good?
-- Vash's “wut” face when Wolfwood does the thing. Amazing.
-- Really? Now Vash objects to injuring people? He's been doing it the entire show so far in order to disarm them. What else are he and Wolfwood supposed to do to people trying to kill them? I think the real problem is that Wolfwood seemed like he was out of control and enjoying it.
-- I keep waiting for Wolfwood to argue with Vash about their different philosophies, but so far, the most he's done is grumble a little bit about not killing people. Maybe manga!Wolfwood is blending together with anime!Wolfwood in my head?

Vash the Stampede’s Words of Wisdom
Episode 2 Truth of Mistake "There's something that cannot be expressed in words, human emotion. Emotions of the heart can't be just tucked away in a closet. There's a way to know the emotions. Look into the eyes. The girl lied to me, and I believed her. The gentleman lied to me, when I trusted him, but the moment I looked into his eyes the angel of destiny began to unravel the truth. Just look into their eyes. There is only one truth." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 3 Peace Maker "Those who make mistakes blame themselves and close their hearts. It's impossible to fix the mistake. Men can't return to the past. That's why they drink. Lushes, drunks, sliding alcohol down their throats to dilute the memories that can't be forgotten. Frank Marlon, the gunsmith, does nothing but drink & he questions the glass after it's empty. ‘Am I wrong?’ ‘Was I wrong?’" --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 4 Love & Peace "A past that can't be forgotten & can't be buried. A past that can't even be shaken for just a little time. The sentiment deep inside each of their hearts is strong & equal, for beloved parents & for a beloved daughter. Two men can only find the answer from behind their triggers. The moment the sentimental bullets flew towards each other the men stood silent, yet were weeping. The past, enslaves..." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 5 Hard Puncher "Whenever something is gained, something is always lost. It's difficult to live after something like that. What is lost will never return. Important things, irreplaceable things, but what is needed to keep those things is in the firm will packed into one bullet. Man knows, he knows nothing will begin unless he speaks, & that nothing will change, unless he moves." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 6 Lost July "The longer one holds on to a memory, the longer one lives in the past. The deeper the memory they hold onto, the more beautiful the past will become. The beautiful memories will eventually turn into hate. Even if they look ahead, they lose the ability to walk. As long as the heavy chain called revenge continues to bind the heart, the tears of sadness will continue to flow." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 7 B.D.N "The tragedy endlessly repeated in order to fulfill desires. The lust for conquest, making people bend to your will, a thrill intense enough to make you shudder. There's a man who is a slave to that ecstasy. The leader of the Bad Lads, a man who shines: Brilliant Dynamites Neon. The sandsteamer will shake at the moment the huge dynamos on each of his shoulders start to spark. In the pitch black darkness, the gruesome party begins." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 8 And Between the Wasteland and Sky....... "People who sin say this, ‘That they had to, to survive.’ People who sin say this, ‘It's too late now to stop.’ The shadow called sin dogs them steadily from behind, silently without a word. Remorse & agony are repeated only to end up at despair in the end, but the sinners just don't know that if they'd only turn around there's a light there, a light which keeps shining on them ever so lonely. A light that will never fade." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 9 Murder Machine "I met a lone man in the desert, a traveling priest, Nicholas D. Wolfwood. He smiled and then he told me that I'm a troubled man. Faced with his all seeing smile there was nothing I could say in my defense. Did I meet this man because I was destined to or, was it simply by a small jest of God? The man's name is Nicholas D. Wolfwood, a traveling priest I met in the desert." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 10 Quick Draw "I think I'd like to do something nice for somebody. I think it's good if you smile at someone, and they smile in return. Voluntary love encourages people to create a sense of friendliness. Love that is unconditional gives us respect as people, however, it's wrong to force love, to try to keep it alive. If the strain goes on eventually it will bloom into the flower called Lie. The deceptively thorny flower that hurts people." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 11 Escape From Pain "A choice between two things. The forked road, a crossroad, where men given life must take in order to stay alive. Whichever end they live on, they lose something. Whichever end they live on, they are unable to find happiness, but are there really only two paths to a forked road? No, there are infinite paths we must take. There is more than one path. There is more than one path to the future." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 12 Diablo "All people have a sanctuary which must never be touched. A scar of sadness which must never be tred upon. The cooperation formed by the living to realize a dream or achieve an ideal. The man with the white coat told me in a quiet voice that he had finally found me, that he wanted my life. That man smiled a smile deeper than darkness. Legato Bluesummers, a man fascinated by death, only spoke quietly." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 14 Little Arcadia "If you only face forward, there is something you will miss seeing. It is a virtue to devote one's self to something, firmly believing in one's own ideals. But that does not mean it's all right to belittle the ideals or feelings of others. If you lead such a busy life, & you don't realize how your parents feel, it's only for self satisfaction. It's all right to stop every now & again. If you want a moments rest, if you want to feel what other people feel." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 15 Demon's Eye "People judge people. Lives are being cut short because of someone's personal logic. Mothers, fathers, friends... their entire paths instantly vanish into thin air. The question is, should this take place at the whim of one individual? A beautiful woman stood before the corpses of the Roderick thieves. She told me that she was merely discarding some useless garbage. Dominique the Cyclops told me to just think of it as 'Spring cleaning'." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 16 Fifth Moon "A fragment of memory lost in the gap between life & death. Is it something which will point the way towards spiritual awareness? The silver metallic gun crushes and my right arm metamorphosises. My past, my people, my mother... the moment I was reunited with everything I ever protected, the light took Augusta. The Humanoid Typhoon, the $$60 billion man, Vash the Stampede. This is the beginning of my past. This is the end of my journey." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 17 Rem Savrem "Rem told me, that someone she loved died on Earth. She told me she boarded this ship so she could start over. What does it feel like to have someone you love die? I tried thinking of what it would be like if Rem died. When I did, hot water came out of my eyes & it wouldn't stop for a long time. Rem, I'll always be there for you. I won't leave you alone." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 18 Goodbye For Now "Let us regard the fifth moon, shining down upon us from the sky, stained red with blood. And let us remember his name, his legend. To do so, you only need to look up. Like it or not, his legend is chiseled into the fifth moon, a permanent etching from a terrible past. The legend of Vash the Stampede, chiseled, forever, & then the time comes... you only need to tell of the tracks, which lead to the future." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 19 Hang Fire "Strong will can stir the heart, but a will too strong can cut off the heart's visibility. The sorrow of a man bereaved of his family turns into hate, which eventually metamorphosises into the intent to kill. The man's finger reaches for the trigger. Sins change people. Sin begets sin, but I, I still want to believe. I still want to believe in the heart. The heart that feels the sin." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 20 Flying Ship "In times of hardship, in times of sadness, there's a place a traveler can let his mind return to: home. I still don't know what kind of a past the traveler abandoned when he left his home behind. I still don't know what kind of sorrow he bears. But the traveler can keep walking forward because he has something which sustains him... a place which accepts him. He can walk forward, step by careful step." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 21 Out of Time "There is something you can't give up. There is something you want to protect. There is a time you must take a stand, no matter what kind of pain awaits us. The man clad in the red coat took up his gun once again in order to stop the sadness, in order to stop the hate. I keep the word of the red geranium, which I was taught so long ago. I keep the courage and determination deep in my heart." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 22 Alternative "Self protection: the means of protecting one's self. People expose the weaknesses which pain them, & thus form a group. Before they know it they begin to exclude those who are not one of them, but what becomes of those who have been excluded? I smiled at the children who lived in a tight group in their rickety house. Sure, let's live today, let's live tomorrow, & let's live the day after that, even if it means living in eternal pain." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 23 Paradise "To realize a mistake, to not lie, to love one another, to not kill. Those are very simple things, but these times won't allow for them. There is no green on this planet, even though we want it, & want it so badly. A place where we can live peaceful days with no wars, nor stealing, a sacred place, where people can live as people. Yes there, that place is called..." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 24 Sin "Repeated tragedies, repeated pain, the wishes of man are so strong & yet so frail and weak. To live, to stay alive, who would have known survival was this hard...this painful? I must choose. I must make the choice, in the moment that intertwines life & death. Can I choose to remain a human?" --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 25 Live Through "I was dreaming Rem. Everything was so horribly dry, there on that planet, even people's hearts. As I watched the people who lived there from far away, I kept wondering why they went on living, how they kept on living. Rem, listen to me Rem. I did a bad thing. I did a bad thing. Tell me? What should I do?" --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun) Episode 26 Under the Sky So Blue "That day, that time, 130 years ago we were born, weren't we? There was nothing but peaceful days, & Rem was always close behind us. But our disagreeing thoughts changed each of our ways of life, didn't they? I don't regret it. I will vow once again not to kill, not to betray, but to find happiness, to talk about my dreams, because the ticket to the future is always blank." --- Vash the Stampede (Trigun)
